This morning, I was looking out the window, watching the birds at the feeder, and saw two of the biggest red headed woodpeckers I’ve ever seen in my life. Granted, I haven’t seen a lot of them, but these guys were huge. Well, at least in my opinion. Unfortunately, before I could grab the camera, they took off, but they looked a whole lot like this:
Ok, so they didn’t have the blue suit on, but still…..

Could it be a pileated woodpecker? http://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/Pileated_Woodpecker/lifehistory
That could very well be them. Of course, I was in the house, they were on the tree…..about 20 yards away, and I’m old. LOL Suckers were HUGE.
Thanks.
Wow…. you shoulda asked them where they got them neat-o gloves ;P
I got “beat up” by Woody Woodpecker once.
Seriously.
I went to Universal Studios when I was a kid, and there was a person in a Woody costume, and when I was getting my pic taken with “them”, they roughed me up pretty good. Gave me a noogie, jostled me around so hard about knocked me on my ass. I suppose it was all in good fun, but if they did that nowadays, Universal would get sued.
Just thought Id share. It was as odd as it sounds
By the way an old woman was the one who did the voice for Woody.
Just watched one of the kitten try to attack a female pecker….um….wood pecker…that landed on the front porch. It’s a wonder that cat didn’t break his neck flying into the glass trying to get to her. LOL
How come I never got beat up by cartoon characters when I was a kid? Hmmm…. oh yeah, that’s because there was no such thing as Universal Studios, and my dad would never take us out to California to Disney Land. Pfft!
You didnt get beat up by cartoon characters, because cartoons werent invented yet. Neither was the light bulb or the telephone. ;PPPP
jk! but Universal WAS around when you were born, they came around back in the 30′s. Just no theme park, which I assume is what you meant?
Don’t make me come up there and smack you! And yes, that’s what I meant. Glad you figured it out!
