An Ol' Broad's Ramblings
How the world works lately…
(Oldie but goodie.)
If a man cuts his finger off while Slicing salami at work, he blames the restaurant.
If you smoke three packs a day for 40 years and die of lung cancer, your family blames the Tobacco company.
If your neighbor crashes into a tree while driving home drunk, he blames the bartender.
If your grandchildren are brats without manners, you blame television.
If your friend is shot by a deranged madman, you blame the gun manufacturer…
And if a crazed person breaks into the cockpit and tries to kill the pilot at 35,000 feet, and the passengers kill him instead, the mother of the crazed deceased blames the airline.
I must have lived too long to understand the world as it is anymore.
So, if I die while my OLD WRINKLED Butt is parked in front of this computer, I want all of you to Blame Bill Gates.
Shared by Cindy. I think she’s trying to tell me something.

And if we elect the Republicans who spend us into the next century fighting unjust wars and giving cronies huge no-bid contract, blame the Democrat who has us pay the bill.
We seem to have a choice here cap! We re-elect the bunch who want to tax us out of existence, and grind our bones into money. Or, we can elect a few Republics, and a LOT of common sense conservatives, either party. Cuz ya know what? They both have issue with spending. The cost of the wars is almost minuscule compared to what is coming down our throats.
Hey…y’all should be happy we are working really hard to remove all the slime balls that are making our lives a living hell. Wouldn’t you like to keep more of YOUR money?
I’d rather make sure my money is spent to the best and most efficient use. If my taxes can go to help 100 people, well, that is infinitely better than making one already rich person even richer.
Sigh…. It’s quite obvious that you still don’t grasp the concept of charity. You might want to rethink your union/socialism ideals.
Your taxes won’t go to help 100 people. The government is not that efficient. Are you so inept at managing your own money that you can’t give to charities of YOUR choice? I know you aren’t an ignorant person, just extremely confused at how the economy works.
Insults are not the way to influence people, but I don’t think that will ever happen with some people.
Charity has proven to be insufficient. In an ideal world, the charities would be able to help those in need, but there is too much greed in the world.
I can assure you, my intent was not to insult, but that’s ok, if you took it that way…. I guess I’m not surprised. sigh….
The reason charity has “proven to be insufficient” is in part, because too many people have decided it is the government’s job to take care of the needy, instead of churches, etc. There will ALWAYS be poor people. Not all the feel good social programs you can think of will ever change that fact.
The need for the government came after the churches failed. They failed because people didn’t want to give enough to meet those needs. Greed has been around a lot longer than poverty.
I won’t dispute the greed issue. It comes from human short comings, and the lack of understanding that the dollar is NOT the Almighty. But I do want to turn that around….many churches started failing when the government stepped in. People fell away from churches, donations for helping the community fell. It’s a viscous circle. Communities helped their own…families stood by the members. No progress is being made with government involvement.
LOL, for the longest time, the church and the government were one and the same. Look at your medieval Europe for that.
But it is funny hearing you say the dollar is not the Almighty. They’ll take away your tea bag for such heresy.
I’m not aware I’ve ever said anything to the contrary.
The medieval church was pretty much the government, wasn’t it.
Oh, thought I’d toss this out to ya….
“Charity comes from your own heart, not from the government spending your money. When we pay our taxes to the government and it gives that money away, that’s not charity, that’s welfare.”
That’s semantics. Two different words for the same thing. If charity fails to help those that need it, then it falls upon the government.
The government doesn’t help. The government creates a welfare mentality, and the cycle of poverty continues, through successive generations.
So, charity fails, and you claim the government doesn’t work. What is your solution?
I didn’t say charity doesn’t help.
To deny that charity has become insufficient to meet the needs is purely denial of reality.
Hand up….not hand out. That is the best reality.
And where is this magic hand up? It sure as hell ain’t occurring anywhere that I can see.
Then you probably should get out in the world more.
I see quite a bit of it going on. I would tell you why I think you don’t see it, but then, I have no doubt, you wouldn’t understand my reasoning.
Ya never have before…..
Oh, I get out a bit more than you, I’d say. And I see lots of people living on the streets, needing food, needing clothes, but no one will help them because the shelters are already full, the pantries are empty. What about these people?
Oh and BTW, those shelters and pantries receive their money, in part, from the government.
Six words: You live in a “blue” state. Guess you must have missed this post from earlier today.
So, the blue states are bad because they do a better job of meeting the needs of their most vulnerable citizens, and thus they have more expenses, but it is all the unions fault? Huh? That makes no damn sense at all.
Did you even bother to read the whole thing, or was your knee jerk reaction due to the title only? Blue states are NOT meeting the needs of anyone. Government does NOT meet the needs of the vulnerable! The bigger the union influence, the worse fiscal shape.
Kate you’ve been more patient with capper then I could ever be.
Probably, but I’m afraid my patience is wearing thin. I guess you just can’t reason with some folks. I’ve also been wondering what on earth any of this has to do with the post itself. LOL
I happened to run across this article at NRO and it should help a little with your conversation.
Sorry I can’t make it any smaller.

Bless your heart, Eric. That’s the same column I was gonna link. LOL Great minds and all that.
Your’s is better though. I just tag onto whaat other people start writing.
LOL Well, I’m not so sure about that, but thanks.
Actually Blue States have a much better quality of life than the red states. Of course, the left does realize that money is not the Almighty and so don’t sweat paying a few dollars more to help their neighbors.
I find it ironic that you are all whining about spending money now, but never said peep when Reagan ran up the deficit or Bush spent money like a drunken frat boy (he never got out of that role all his life, did he?)
And Kate, my original comment related to your post. You took your own thread and hijacked it.
Actually, I did have a problem with Bush jr. spending money like there was no tomorrow. But … Obamao, our clown in chief did in one and he is on par for the next three, will double the budget that took Bush Jr eight to do. Reagan also spent a lot of money to win the cold war, remember that little bit? Mr. Gorbachev pls tear down this wall. He also managed one of the greatest peace time recoveries that there ever was, esp after the colossal failure of the peanut president. Did you see all of the money that came pouring into Haiti from the US? Every other country in the world it was a huge undertaking, for us it was a Thursday. So our fellow Americans believe in charity. We also believe in those that help themselves.
Well put, Eric. Thanks.
Capper, go back and check out the post itself, then read your first comment, ok? How YOU managed to turn a minor chuckle into a massive debate about Reps V Dems. sigh… Quality of life? What’s the unemployment rate up there in Doyle’s Unionland?
About 8% or so, except in Milwaukee County, where the poor quality of life is driving people either back into the City proper or into the burbs.
State is going broke, isn’t it.
Not good.
So’s the county. So’s Colorado. Both are TABOR rules. Go figure.
So, just when did WI pass TABOR? Can’t find evidence of that ever happening.
Try reading more closely. Walker acts like it passed, and follows its rules. Sheesh, you really do thrive on misinformation, don’t you?
So’s the county. So’s Colorado. Both are TABOR rules. Go figure.
If I had written such a statement, wouldn’t you take it to mean that WI had passed TABOR?
I did a little checking last night, out of curiosity, and in order to actually have facts in my head. It appears that other than Dane County, unemployment has significantly risen, all over the state. Sadly, this is the case over the entire country, some worse than others.
