Mike Pence Speech At CPAC 2010
I really like this guy!
Neither Left, NOR Right – Just Crazy!
I’m sure you all know that a small plane was crashed into a building in Austin, Texas that housed an office of the I.R.S. As we all know now, the attack was intentional, carried out by an individual with a beef with everyone and everything. Unfortunately, in true liberal fashion, the smears began. (There are many more such examples, but I had to hold my nose to even link those two, so if you really want to see them, do a search, you’ll have NO trouble finding them.)
The question is being asked if this was an act of terrorism. In my personal opinion, yes, it was. Any action meant to cause terror, is an act of terrorism.
Here are a couple of links from Right Pundits you should check out:

Austin Area Tea Party Leaders Speak Out About Joseph Stack Attack & Liberal Media Distortions
What I would like to point out to those who would blame this one individual’s acts on those of us who claim membership in the Tea Party movement…..it’s not those on the right who get violent and destroy property, it’s not Tea Party, or 912′ers who trash their surroundings, it’s not the conservatives who blow up buildings and kill people. Just remember this the next time you want to blame any such act on the Tea Party.
Prayers for a Speedy Recovery
New Jersey Sen. Frank Lautenberg Diagnosed With Stomach Cancer
After being hospitalized for several days, the country’s second-oldest U.S. senator, Frank Lautenberg, was diagnosed with stomach cancer.
The New Jersey Democrat’s office issued a statement Friday, saying that doctors found B-cell lymphoma of the stomach, a curable tumor that will require treatment over the next few months.
“We expect a full and complete recovery for Sen, Lautenberg,” said Dr. James Holland of New York City’s Mount Sinai Medical Center, who is treating Lautenberg.
“The senator will be treated with chemotherapy administered approximately every three weeks. We anticipate that he will receive between six and eight treatments, and in between treatments, the senator is expected to be back at work in the Senate,” he said in a written statement.
I realize the man is a Democrat, but that’s no reason to wish him ill. So, I don’t. I hope he will be fine, and when it’s time for him to go, God will make the journey easy.
Don’t Ask For My Support, Or Money
I was cleaning out my spam on one of my email accounts this morning, and came across an interesting tidbit……from John McCain:
My Friend,
Throughout my life I have faced many challenges that have tested my character and my values. I have met each of these challenges with resolve because I believe that service to our country is my calling in life. I have long said that I owe America more than she has ever owed me and I never doubt that our country is the greatest in the world.
Today, we face perilous challenges that threaten our nation’s economy and security. We are being led down a dangerous path as the current Democratic leaders continue to spend at an unprecedented rate. I have been the leading opponent against them, fighting everyday against wasteful spending and government expansion. However, if I am to continue fighting for our shared values, I must win reelection to the United States Senate.
You probably got such an email as well. And perhaps you had the same reaction I did. You have GOT to be freakin’ kidding me!!
I’m sorry Senator McCain, there is no way I can NOT add my name to the list of people who support you, nor can I send you a single dime. I do not believe you are the right person for the job. You call yourself a maverick, but what you really are is an aging military hero, who has lost touch with the rest of America, pretty much like the Democrats.
Aren’t you the guy who hurried back to D.C. to pass the first bail-out bill under GWB? That one act lost you a lot of support from us common folk in your run for the presidency. Oh, some of us might have gone ahead, against our better judgment, and voted the ‘R’ ticket, but by that time, I think more people were voting for Sarah, than for you.
No sir, I cannot support your bid for re-election. It’s time for you to pass the torch to those who truly reflect the values of your state, and the country.
Dems Hitting Snooze Button On Economy
A No-Cost Stimulus That Can Create Real Jobs for the American People
The Foundry
In today’s Wall Street Journal, former President Bill Clinton’s pollster Doug Schoen writes: “Sen. Evan Bayh’s stunning decision to retire should serve as more than a wake-up call to Democrats. It should spur a fundamental re-examination and reorientation of the party’s policies, practices and approaches leading into the fall election. Let’s be clear. The Democratic brand is in trouble — big trouble. … The Democrats need to do a number of things. First and foremost, they need to recognize there is only one fundamental issue in America: jobs.”
Unfortunately, the White House is not getting the message. Where Schoen urges President Barack Obama to “go back to square one” on health care, The New York Times is reporting that the Obama administration is doing the exact opposite: they are set to introduce their own health care bill on Monday that is specifically designed to pass the Senate through reconciliation on a strictly partisan vote. And when the left is not continuing to shove a government takeover of health care down the throats of the American people, they are working on a second stimulus plan that repeats all of the same big government borrow-and-spend mistakes of the first.

Sign The Mount Vernon Statement….Please!
I signed the statement yesterday. Have you signed yet?
The Mount Vernon Statement
The Foundry
Yesterday, I joined a broad coalition of conservative leaders representing a wide spectrum of the movement including fiscal, social, cultural and national security conservatives, to sign The Mount Vernon Statement. In light of the challenges facing the country and the need for clarity, we needed to produce this defining statement of conservative beliefs, values and principles. It is the culmination of a thoughtful deliberation about our nation’s principles. I was proud to participate in that discussion, and to chair the committee that drafted the statement.

A Sign In The Heavens?
Is this incredible thing in heavens a sign from God?
Some people are seeing a flying cross, or perhaps a Star of David.
Others say it resembles a ninja-style throwing blade or even a science-fiction spaceship from such Hollywood creations as “Star Wars,” “Star Trek,” “Babylon 5″ or “The Last Starfighter.”
While scientists don’t think it’s a comet, they’re not exactly sure of the precise origin of the incredible object soaring some 90 million miles from Earth, snapped just a few weeks ago by the Hubble Space Telescope.
“I’ve seen thousands of astronomical images over my career, but this is one of the few absolute jaw-droppers: A flying X-pattern with trailing streamers,” said Ray Villard, a contributing writer to Discovery News. “Whatever it is, nothing quite like it has ever before been seen in the heavens.”
The sky is pretty big. Odds are, there are quite a few things up there they’ve never seen before since they can’t watch the entire sky, all at the same time.
“The truth is, we’re still struggling to understand what this means,” comet expert David Jewitt at UCLA told Britain’s Daily Mail. “It’s most likely the result of a recent collision between two asteroids.”
If it is indeed the result of such a collision, it would be the first time astronomers have gazed upon the immediate result of such a crash.
Whatever it is, it’s pretty cool. Which was is it heading?
In the New Testament, Jesus Christ predicted celestial signs concerning the end of this current age and His return to Earth to establish the kingdom of God.
- “And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.” (Mark 13:25-26)
- “And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.” (Luke 21:11)
“With 2012 doomsday hysteria building, this might get attention on the Internet as yet another omen of the ‘End of Times,’” notes Villard. “Those who’ve overdosed on Nostradamus might see a flying Star of David, or a pentagram.”
While the year 2012 is significant, Obama will be defeated…I’m praying, and the Mayan calender ends, God never gave us a specific date. He did, however, gives us a lot of indications through His Word. I’m not saying this is one of His signs, there are plenty of them, right here on Tera Firma we should be watching. But it might be.
The Brat Speaks
You may, or may not know, that the person who comments once in a while around here as Brat, is my daughter. Why is she called Brat? Well, because she is one, but that’s beside the point.
She left a comment on this post, and I felt it necessary to give her the space to express her view in a post of her very own. Copy and pasted of course (with the necessary grammatical corrections…that I caught).
I never have too much to say in terms of your blog, i comment on things that directly affect me or about people i know.. however.. I had something to say and I posted it over on facebook and brought it over here for ya too:
Where does racism come into play when being tired of hearing people use slavery for an excuse on why they are poor or why they are criminals or whatever? I have friends who are black and are successful, working, tax paying individuals and although they are well aware of their history they don’t use it as an excuse. We had white slavery in this country too, what do you think an indentured servant was? A lot of those servants were Irish, treated badly, horrible living conditions, children worked til they couldn’t anymore, adults worked til they dropped dead. When’s the last time you heard anyone of Irish descent asking for reparations?
It’s not a matter of racism, it’s a matter of being sick of the excuses. It’s a matter of saying “HEY! You weren’t a Slave, and *I* didn’t own you! I don’t owe you anything. Get a job like everyone else and move on!” I am sick of having an opinion about stupidity and having it thrown back on me as racism by people. If I think the president isn’t doing a great job and I say something, the first thing i hear is “it’s because he’s black!” WTF?!? Does that mean every time anyone has EVER complained about a previous president in the history of this country was that “Because he was white”?!? Does that mean that every black person who complained about Bush is a racist?!?
Sometimes, the kid actually impresses me.
Gee, couldn’t be because I taught her it’s not the color of a person’s skin that is important, it’s what they do. It’s character, not color.
Ann on The Lack of Intelligence
Ahmadinejad: ‘Yep, I’m Nuclear’
by Ann Coulter
The only man causing President Obama more headaches than Joe Biden these days is Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (who, coincidentally, was right after Biden on Obama’s short-list for V.P.).
Despite Obama’s personal magnetism, the Iranian president persists in moving like gangbusters to build nuclear weapons, leading to Ahmadinejad’s announcement last week that Iran is now a “nuclear state.”
Gee, that’s weird — because I remember being told in December 2007 that all 16 U.S. intelligence agencies had concluded that Iran had ceased nuclear weapons development as of 2003.

Sebelius: Current bills will be starting point for health summit
President Obama plans to use the already-passed House and Senate bills as a starting point for next week’s health care summit with Republican leaders, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Tuesday.
Are these people mentally challenged? They must be! Only the mentally challenged could even consider those two bills a ‘starting point’. Or, they are really, REALLY, stupid, and I don’t think that’s the case.
House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Kentucky, have said the current health bills should be scrapped and that any negotiation should start with a blank slate.
Well, at least THEY have gotten the message!
“A lot of the Republican members of the House and Senate said on day one when this debate began that they would love to work with the president, but they could not work around the public option. Now that [we] don’t have a public option, I’m hoping they’re good to their word and come to the summit not just with their ideas but with a proposal.
“There are a lot of good Republican ideas in both the House and Senate bills,” she told Gupta. “I hope the Republicans come ready to roll up their sleeves and get to work.”
Isn’t it interesting that the Republicans were locked OUT of any ‘negotiations’? Yeah, the Dems/Obama really want to work with the opposition, don’t they. Pfft! The Republicans have presented proposals, and they have been ignored. The House passed a reform bill in 2006, but there were too many Dems in the Senate to get it passed. Why? Probably because it contained TORT reform. Lawyers don’t like that at all. Means they can’t get rich, like Edwards, on the backs on the innocent.
Both the House and Senate bills would require insurance companies to spend at least 80 percent of their income from premiums on actual medical care.
Wouldn’t that be nice? Instead of having to hire extra people to blunder through massive amounts of paperwork, required by the gubmint, they could actually use those funds to…..gasp….pay for the medical care of the insured!
Read the rest of this yourself. I’m starting to get really pissed off!
Exactly!
From Texas Fred, comes an excellent post that should be read by ALL the folks sick of the ‘gimme, you owe me’ mentality!
Blacks And The Politics Of Racial Extortion
Just a small snippet:
Tell you what. I believe in justice. I’ll give you a million dollars for every slave I own, and another million for every year you were a slave. Fair enough? But tell me, how many slaves do you suppose I have? In round numbers, I mean. Say to the nearest dozen. And how long were you a slave?
Oh.
In other words, I owe you reparations for something that I didn’t do and didn’t happen to you. That makes sense. Like lug nuts on a birthday cake.
Personally, I think you owe me reparations for things you didn’t do and never happened to me. I’ve never been coated in Dutch chocolate and thrown from the Eiffel Tower. I’ll bet you’ve never done it to anyone.
Like Fred, and every other person living in this country today, I have never owned slaves, never known anyone who did, or, as a matter of fact, anyone who WAS a slave. I don’t owe anyone squat, and no one else does either. It’s not my fault if parents decided their children didn’t need an education, so they could speak proper English, add and subtract, read and write, aiding them in the ability to gain meaningful employment.
Seriously, this is a terrific post.
