“Walking Path” Trumps Road Safety

9 February 2010, 11:56 am. 2 Comments. Filed under Tennessee.

I finally got around to perusing the local fish wrap from last week, and came across a very interesting, and irritating article.  As usual, there is no link on the site for the article, so you’ll just have to take my word for it.  :?

No money for Crump roads, but state can help walkers

There’s no state grant money available to repair Crump’s crumbling roadways, but Tennessee can help with the city’s well-traveled walking trail.

The Crump Board of Mayor and Aldermen applied to the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation this month for an $80,000 grant to upgrade and fix a foot path in the city park.

The article goes on to praise the trail, and talk about how many people use it, and how it helps schools on field trips.  Not another word about the streets with huge potholes.  Nothing about how dangerous said roads have become due to the deteriorating conditions.

Now, I’m all for kids having a park, and all that, but seriously.  When I was a young sprout, we took nature field trips too.  We walked out the back door of the school, across the playground, the baseball field, and into the woods.  We got to chew on sarsaparilla, learned the difference between poison ivy and poison oak, and all sorts of nature related things.

The city park is used for a variety of things, all through the year, which is great. But to be perfectly honest, I’d much rather the mayor and aldermen work on getting the roads fixed!

Pray For MORE Snow On The Hill!

Snow Slows Obama’s Second Stimulus
The Foundry

The snowstorms that have already dumped over two feet of snow on the nation’s Capitol and that are threatening to dump another 12 to 16 inches, have grounded the legislative process to a halt. But that might not be such a bad thing. Senate Democrats had hoped they could pass President Barack Obama’s second stimulus today, but with only three of the Senate’s 100 lawmakers able to make it to the chamber, that vote has been postponed indefinitely. And the more we learn about what might be in President Obama’s second stimulus, the better a little delay looks.

The Las Vegas Sun reported this weekend that big labor leaders are pushing to include their long-sought “card check” provisions into Obama’s Second Stimulus. This legislation would effectively end a worker’s right to fight unionization through secret ballot elections, would give the federal government the power to run small businesses and would cost the American economy thousands of jobs.

The Fall Of The Republic

The Last Days Of The Republic?
by J. D. Longstreet

Call it a “Constitutional Republic,” or a “Representative Republic,” the fact is – America, as a “republic,” is done for.

How did it happen? Well, those who would turn America into a Socialist Utopia used the very democratic process, in which Americans pride themselves, to execute a brilliant coup de tat and take over the US government. And they did it in plain sight, right before our eyes.

In a democratic nation the risk of electing a dictator, is always there, lurking in the shadows. All it takes is a bad mistake at the polls by freedom loving people misled by slick, smooth, oratory and, let us not forget, the promise or the implication of… something for nothing. I cannot overemphasize the importance of the electorate’s ignorance. It is my belief that ignorance played the largest role in the election of Obama to the presidency of the US than any other single causation.

Lame Stream Looks Foolish….AGAIN!

9 February 2010, 9:38 am. 3 Comments. Filed under Opinion.

I’m wondering when the lame stream media will snap out their collective stupor, and realize they are appearing as hypocritical jackasses to the thinking world?  I had hopes there for a while, but when they start making an issue about a few words written on the palm of the hand, as opposed to their messiah, who can’t speak a coherent sentence without two teleprompters telling him what to say, and even then, can’t pronounce a very simple word (corpse man?), well, I guess they are beyond redemption.  :?

Seriously, you’d think they had more important things to worry about than Sarah Palin’s palm, I dunno….like maybe little things like national security, the circumventing of the U.S. Constitution (which gives them the freedom to be assjacks), the current path to socialism? Maybe it’s just me.

Rep. Murtha Dead at 77

Pennsylvania Democratic Rep. John Murtha, the first veteran of the Vietnam war and one of the most powerful lawmakers in Congress, died Wednesday morning at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, VA, after complications from gallbladder surgery. Murtha was 77.

Wednesday morning? You mean he’s been dead for 5 days, and someone is just now getting around to telling the public?  Today is Monday, right?  I’m very confused.

UPDATE:  Evidently, that was a major typo, and they’ve now changed it to Monday afternoon.

I’ve been trying to think of something nice to say about the guy, but to be perfectly honest, nothing comes to mind.

Do you ever wonder how the moonbattiest of moonbats got elected to Congress? Yeah…me too! So, I’m wondering how the heck Alan Grayson ever even got past the primaries, much less actually winning the election. Are the people in his district mentally challenged?

Business Should Mind Its Own Business Act (Introduced in House)

H. R. 4431

To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to impose a 500 percent excise tax on corporate contributions to political committees and on corporate expenditures on political advocacy campaigns.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

January 13, 2010

Mr. GRAYSON introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means

A BILL

To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to impose a 500 percent excise tax on corporate contributions to political committees and on corporate expenditures on political advocacy campaigns.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,

SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE.

This Act may be cited as the `Business Should Mind Its Own Business Act’.

500% tax on company contributions?  C’mon….is he serious?  Not that I’m all that crazy about companies inserting themselves into the political process, but this is nothing new.  You contribute to the candidate that you believe are business friendly.  That wouldn’t be the Democrats, which is probably why he came up with this harebrained idea.

Hey….does this mean the high dollar unions will have to pay that 500% tax too?  Wonder if he considered them when he started drooling in his lap over sucking more money out of the private sector?

TN 7th FYI

From Marsha Blackburn:

Starting this weekend and continuing into next week, I will host a series of listening sessions across the 7th District. These will not be traditional town hall meetings, where a Member of Congress stands at the podium and tells you what is going on in Washington. Instead, I want to hear from you.

I want to hear what ideas you have for how we can do things better in Washington. I want to hear what concerns you have about the bills that we are working on. I want to know what you think is working in Washington and what you think isn’t. More than anything, I think of these sessions as idea raisers, where we can work together to turn your good ideas into solutions in DC.

We will start with seven sessions in the western and mid-district over the coming weekend, with more sessions to be announced in Montgomery county and elsewhere soon.

I hope to see you there!

Only Common Sense Will Help

8 February 2010, 10:10 am. 1 Comment. Filed under Dhimmicrats, Feckless Weasels, Opinion, The ONE.

Since there is a complete lack of said common sense inside the beltway, I wouldn’t count on seeing any, any time soon.  The people have spoken.  They aren’t listening.  But I will repeat it, just in case someone is paying attention for a change…..WE, THE PEOPLE, DO NOT WANT GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTH CARE! In any form!

A Six-Hour Infomercial Can’t Save Obamacare
The Foundry

Right before the Super Bowl, President Barack Obama spoke about health care reform with CBS News’ Katie Couric: “I want to come back and have a large meeting, Republicans and Democrats, to go through systematically all the best ideas that are out there and move it forward.”

According to aides, the President envisions a half-day meeting on February 25th held in Blair House (a building across the street from the White House) presumably televised by C-SPAN. President Obama’s conciliatory rhetoric aside, everyone knows this publicity stunt has nothing to do with actually considering conservative health care reform ideas and everything to do with the appearance of transparency and bipartisanship. The New York Times reports: “In making the gesture on Sunday, Mr. Obama is in effect calling the hand of Republicans who had chastised him for not honoring a campaign pledge to hold health care deliberations in the open, broadcast by C-Span, and for not allowing Republicans at the bargaining table.”

Happy Monday

8 February 2010, 9:20 am. 18 Comments. Filed under Feckless Weasels, Weather.

Gee.  What a joy to wake up to more of algore’s ‘global warming’!  Not exactly like last Monday’s post, is it.  :?

I read they are expecting up to 5 inches, but not sure exactly where in the area.  All the schools are closed….again.  It looks like we’ve got about an inch, so far.  Now, you’d think this wouldn’t be a major deal.  Well, most places…in the north….it wouldn’t be, but down here, this is NOT normal!

The NORMAL temp for Podunk in February is 53 degrees.  Light jackets needed at most.  Normal low?  32, sometime in the middle of the night no doubt.

Average NORMAL snowfall, for an entire year….the green line:

Inch and a half.  Since we’ve moved here, we’ve had a dump of 8 inches….in March…a couple of times.

In case you weren’t aware, I believe Al Gore is a major ass, who lies through his ugly teeth, all to make a few million bucks!  And you can include all those so called representatives in D.C., who are falling for that BS in order to control our lives, in that mega ass category as well!

Hmmm….  I’m wondering….  If this keeps up, will we get some of that stimulus money to buy snow plows, provide jobs, so people around here can actually get to their jobs?  I mean those who still HAVE jobs.

Just My Opinion

While I did not watch the whole game (I was at church during the first half), I did catch a few of the over priced commercials.

This particular one I found highly offensive! I’m sure they meant it as humorous, but how long will it be before we see this happening in reality?

Now this one, I loved. Well, critters are usually a favorite of mine anyway, so when you combine the longhorn with a big horsey….. :D

My opinion of exercise has radically changed as I’ve grown older.  While I was much more active in my younger years, I figured out, you really do get only so many heartbeats.  Why on earth would I waste those I have left worrying about whether or not my butt is getting bigger! :P

The Importance of Walking!!

Walking can add minutes to your life..
This enables you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $7000 per month.

My grandpa started walking five miles a day when he was 60.
Now he’s 97 years old and we don’t know where the hell he is.

I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me.

The only reason I would take up walking is so that I could hear heavy breathing again.

What is that stuff?

I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned where my oldest sister, the “progressive”, lives, but it happens to be outside of D.C., in Falls Church, VA.  Well, I’m sure ya know they had quite a bit of global warming going on over the weekend.  She sent a few pictures, and I thought I’d share a couple.  Mind you, this was before it had slacked off.

She tells me they are expecting more of that no winter stuff this week.  Yes, there is such a thing as ‘climate change’.  It’s called WINTER!
