An Ol' Broad's Ramblings

The CEO of the state’s hospitality industry sent a joke e-mail to a group of public figures that compares first lady Michelle Obama to a chimpanzee.
The Tennessean reports Tennessee Hospitality Association CEO Walt Baker’s e-mail compares the first lady to Tarzan sidekick Cheeta. At the bottom of the e-mail is a photo of Michelle Obama, caught in an awkward moment with her lips pursed, and one of a chimpanzee wearing a similar expression.
Yeah? And so what? For 8 years, we got the emails, saw the postings, oh so hilarious, right? But since that was Bush, it was ok. We deleted them, and moved on. Now, it’s the spouse of the current chump in chief, and it’s offensive. How so?
The e-mail opens with the words, “I don’t care who you are, this is funny.”
But not everyone who received the message on Thursday found it humorous.
Actually, no. It wasn’t funny then. It’s not all that funny now. The example on the right is a really bad photoshop.
News of the e-mail soon began to circulate and by Friday, Metro Nashville Councilman-at-large Jerry Maynard was calling on the Nashville Convention and Visitors Bureau to suspend its contract with Baker’s public relations firm. The Convention and Visitors Bureau is mostly funded by Metro.
I doubt that would be the same picture, but you get the idea. I wonder how many companies lost business because of the Bush email? How many made the news? How many people got their knickers in a twist? If you know of any, you could share the info, cuz I SURE as hell never heard of any!
Get over it people! The double standard is getting REAL old. It also makes people looks like the petty hypocrites they are!
UPDATE: For a visible on just how hypocritical the left it, take a gander at the comments on the Post Politics post.
Let’s make this REAL clear. I do not condone the man’s actions. I do, however, condemn the hysteria.
(I know you’ve seen this before. I may have even posted. But I think it’s hilarious, and should be repeated often. )
In Honor of Stupid People . . . .
In case you needed further proof that the human race is doomed through stupidity, here are some actual label instructions on consumer goods.
On a Sears hairdryer — Do not use while sleeping.
(That’s the only time I have to work on my hair.)
On a bag of Fritos — You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside.
(the shoplifter special?)
On a bar of Dial soap — “Directions: Use like regular soap.”
(and that would be???….)

Sen. John McCain enlisted a rising star of the Republican Party in a bid Friday to lock down support among conservative primary voters.
Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown made his first campaign trip as a senator when he visited Arizona.
Brown is a Massachusetts ‘conservative’. There is a HUGE difference between a Kennedy state ‘conservative’ and a REAL conservative.
Sen. John McCain definitely has powerful friends, like Brown, who have helped him open up a sizable lead in the latest Rasmussen poll, 23 percentage points, over Republican challenger and former U.S. Rep. J. D. Hayworth.
Seriously? Who are they asking, McCain campaigners? Are the good folks in Arizona not aware that John McCain, while distinguished for his service to our country in the military, has been a brain drain on the Republican Party? It’s because of politicians like him, we are having such financial difficulties, of BOTH parties.
“The only poll that really counts comes on Aug. 24,” said Hayworth.
He does have an important point here. Hopefully, Arizonans will educate themselves on the SERIOUS issues, like border security, that are of great to concern for all of us, not just their state.
I’m proud of my conservative record. I was just named the third most conservative fiscally by the national taxpayer’s union,” said McCain.
Uh…what? WHAT? Has his record improved, and I wasn’t aware? It could happen. It’s not like I have all the time in the world to keep up with John McCain. I’m having a hard enough time dealing with my own 2 senators. But, if you want to see where McCain really stands on taxes, just check out this column from Human Events (1/16/08). Sorry. Conservative and John McCain do not belong in the same sentence.
But Hayworth says McCain is just a conservative actor, and in a recent ad, compared him to a character in the move “Avatar,” complete with a blue face and war paint. It was a characterization some feel was in poor taste.
Yep. Puts on a ‘suit’ through virtual means, and is something else behind the scenes all together. Not too complicated to figure out the reference. And I haven’t even seen the movie.
“I think he should also apologize to me and to Native Americans,” said McCain Friday.
What an idiot! If he must apologize to anyone, how about the Druids? Heh. I’m not familiar with any “Native Americans” who paint themselves blue, me included.
“Congressman Hayworth was thrown out in 2006 in part because of his remarks and ties to Abramoff, who is now in prison,” said McCain.
“It never even involved a formal investigation. By that very action, John McCain, in my mind, has disqualified himself from further service in the U.S. Senate,” said Hayworth.
Sure sounds like McCain is getting desperate. Throwing out accusations, without documented backup, is pretty flippin’ lame. Well, I guess he’s not being called McLame for nuthin’! He should really choose his words more wisely when throwing out such accusations. Otherwise, they may come back to bite him on the hinder.
Save the SEALs
You’re for the SEALs, or you’re for the terrorists
Rep. Dan Burton, Indiana Republican, and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, California Republican, yesterday renewed a call for charges to be dropped against three Navy SEALs charged with the unspeakable crime of roughing up a terrorist.
The charges grew from circumstances surrounding the capture of Ahmed Hashim Abed, a terrorist mastermind who organized the killing, burning and mutilating of four American contractors in Fallujah, Iraq, in March 2004. Insurgents strung up the blackened remains on a box-girder bridge over the Euphrates River, a grisly event that made global headlines. Abed was brought in by the SEALs in September 2009.
Abed told Iraqi authorities that Special Operations Petty Officer 2nd Class Matthew McCabe punched him in the gut. That sailor is charged with unlawfully striking Abed “in the midsection with his fist” and with lying to a Naval Criminal Investigative Service officer about the incident. Petty Officers Julio Huertas and Jonathan Keefe are charged with impeding the investigation and dereliction of duty in failing to safeguard a detainee. Trials for these two sailors are set to begin in Iraq in April, and Petty Officer 2nd Class McCabe will be tried in Norfolk in May.
The piece of crap is a terrorist. He murders. No evidence to support his claims of being ‘roughed up’. Yet some government official has that balls to CHARGE the heroes that brought him in?
Warning! It gets graphic from here!
