An Ol' Broad's Ramblings

Words

This morning I was awoken by words in my head.  Needless to say, I wasn’t ready to rise and ….well, not shine, but be up and functioning.  Let’s face it, I am NOT a morning person.  But the words were persistent, so I really didn’t have a choice. And what were those words that were prying my eyes open? “Prove the womb is the tomb.”

What on earth is that suppose to mean?  Now, I don’t know about you, but I’m not one of those people who wakes up all bright eyed and bushy tailed.  It takes the brain a while to catch up, and don’t even get me started on both eyes.  My day starts with a sliver, and with appropriate amounts of coffee, USUALLY things will catch up with the desire, or need, to be awake.  It does happen occasionally.  :P

I had to give this some serious thought.  Prove the womb is the tomb.  Ok, the womb.  Life comes from the womb.  The tomb gives you the mental image of death, the end.  Adios.  Sayonara. Worm food.

Then I really started to think. It wasn’t the tomb, it was “THE Tomb”.

Well, gee Lord, that makes it all SO much easier.  sigh…  Ya see, I KNOW Truth.  Many who pop by to read the rambles KNOW Truth, but so many do not.  How am I suppose to prove the ‘womb is THE Tomb’? Kind of an oxymoron, isn’t it?  So, I prayed about it, naturally.  What came back to me?  Can any man on this planet, or any other, for that matter create life?  Oh, they can put together a few things in a test tube, mix ‘em around, implant them, in a womb, and voila.  Instant baby.  But those scientist did not CREATE what was needed to make that baby, did they.  Nope, they took what was available, and used the brain cells God gave them, to come up with the bypass to His creation.  I’ve always found this rather creepy.  Unnatural.  But, that’s just me.

God created both good and evil.  Beauty and the ugly. Without one, we wouldn’t recognize the other.  Just couldn’t do it.  We wouldn’t know that a rose was beautiful and precious if He hasn’t given it thorns to protect it.  Yeah, simplistic I know, but seriously, that just how simple it is.

Recently, I put up a post titled “Potential“.  It was quite personal, and I shared something that was very deep to me.  Honestly, I didn’t expect a negative comment about it, but I should know better by now.  :?

And I quote:

Don’t forget there is also the potential to grow up and blow up a federal building or fly a plane into a building. It’s a horse apiece.

I’m really not trying to make an argument for or against abortion. I feel it’s a personal matter, and one which my opinion doesn’t conform to either left or right. Just sayin’, if you’re going to wonder about the potential lost, you should also acknowledge misery avoided.

Sigh…. So, how do I explain this to those like the commenter? Hmmm….

Jeremiah 1:5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

Well, it can’t get much simpler than that. At least in my opinion.

But, that just doesn’t seem to be good enough for some folks, and that’s their problem. I can only pass it along, right? It’s life. It’s a gift, straight into the womb, and out. Man can’t create life, he can only imitate it.

Now, we have the tomb. Rather THE Tomb. How does that tie in. After my first cup of coffee, it started making a WHOLE lot more sense. Well, to me anyway. You see, we are all given a choice. We can follow one path, be pretty happy, if not in this life, the next. What we do in this life will determine what happens in the next. Or, we can follow our baser instincts, be not so happy, and suffer the consequence, both in this life and the next. Then, of course, you’ve got the folks that go merrily down the middle of the road, and end up at the same dead end. The Edmond Burke quote comes to mind – “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” And that’s what those in the middle of the road are doing…..nothing.  Have there been evil men (and women) born into this world.  Oh, you betcha.  Do you make the choice to follow the evil, or to shun it?  If there had been strong Bible based faith in Nazi Germany, odds are, there wouldn’t have been a Nazi Germany, and that piece of human excrement would have passed into obscurity.  Choices.  Right and wrong.

For Christians, THE Tomb signifies a new life. Well, Ol Broad, how does it do that, you ask? Well, I’ll tell ya. I went from a believer as a child, to an agnostic as a teen, to a saved but not saved young adult. I spoke the words, but didn’t really try to live the life. Yep, I was of the, ‘if it feels good, do it’, ‘as long as no one else gets hurt’, generation. What a bunch of idiots we were. Unfortunately, there are still a lot of ‘em around, and they are passing that mind set to their kids. :(

The Tomb signifies death from the old life. The drinking, the drugs, the foul language, etc. I’m sure you can figure out the ‘etc’ without me going into details. You know what you’ve done in your life that you aren’t too thrilled with, just like I am.

John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

So, “Prove the womb is THE Tomb.” Through the womb, we are born, through THE Tomb, we are born again into a new life.  It can’t be much simpler than that.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Now, I know there are people who use the Old Testament as a weapon. “What about that stoning business? Do you want to stone homosexuals, the adulterer?” Well, uh, no, I don’t. A new covenant was predicted, which came to us in the form of the New Testament.

Jeremiah 31:31-34 31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: 32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD: 33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. 34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

So, here I am, still drinking the coffee, that is actually helping a bit, but odds are, I’m going to need a nap later. I’m thinking, have I said anything that could make a difference to anyone? Maybe, maybe not. I might have opened up a dialog, I might have ticked off a few people. Isn’t this suppose to be a political blog? Well, yeah, pretty much, but without my faith, my politics could be MUCH different. They connect, in a big way.

Am I a sinner still? sigh… Yeah, I am. I occasionally use language in anger that I wouldn’t normally. Like my pastor always says, “What goes down in the well, comes up in the bucket.” Often, I do things I know I shouldn’t, although truth be told, not as much as I use to. :? Thankfully.

So, that’s what woke me up, was put on my heart, and instructed to share. I probably haven’t done a good job of relaying the message, I wish I had that talent. But, when God tells me to do something, who am I to ignore Him? He’s the BOSS!

    …………………………………….

If folks only posted what they were REALLY certain would make a difference, no sane person would ever post!!

Ya got a point there Gary.  But then, sanity has never been one of those things anyone has ever claimed about me.  Heh.

Thanks Meredith.  That means a lot.

I believe that HE laid it upon you to share in your own way what he wanted you to say.  HE chooses us to lay out his message, no matter how flawed we are.  Somoeone who will read your <HIS> message will be comforted by it.  The important part of the whole thing is that you were obedient unto G-D and relayed his message.  That is the most wondrous thing that I can see, is that G-D takes a flawed and sinful person and uses them to do great things for HIS glory.
