Ignorant, or Just Plain Stupid, Politicians!

The New York Times reports this morning, “Politicians like nothing more than a convenient foil, and Democrats locked in a stubborn impasse with Republicans over new rules to govern Wall Street believe they have found a gold-plated one in Goldman Sachs. Democrats say the convergence of their push for an overhaul of financial regulation and a prominent federal securities case against the prestigious investment firm is a matter of coincidence, not planning.” Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-ND) added: “If the disclosures at these hearings are not the final nail that persuades the American people to demand this be done now, I don’t know what would be.”

Healthcare? Or ObamaCare!

28 April 2010, 8:00 am. 7 Comments. Filed under Health Care.

Americans losing confidence in healthcare

Americans are steadily losing confidence in their ability to get healthcare and pay for it, despite the passage of healthcare reform legislation, according to a survey published on Wednesday.

Personally, I find that headline utterly ridiculous.

healthcare n. The prevention, treatment, and management of illness and the preservation of mental and physical well-being through the services offered by the medical and allied health professions.

How can Americans lose confidence in that? No, the way I see it, Americans are losing confidence in the government’s invasion of THEIR personal healthcare.

“Strikingly, Americans expect the situation to worsen significantly in the next three months,” said Gary Pickens, chief research officer at Thomson Reuters.

“The thing I thought was interesting was … the level of sentiment about future expectations worsened more. The future outlook seems to be causing the people we interviewed angst.”

Perhaps they should have titled this article “Americans losing confidence in the Federal Government’s ability to provide healthcare”. Wouldn’t that be a LOT more accurate?

“I think it may have something to do with the reform legislation,” Pickens said in a telephone interview. “Getting legislation through hasn’t reassured Americans,” he added. “People are being unclear about what it means for them.”

Why do these people always assume that the American people are ignorant? A vast majority KNOWS ‘what it means for them’. Higher taxes, fewer choices, incompetent care, and yes, ‘death panels’, just to name a few.

“What we saw last summer was a big difference by political party,” he said. Republicans strongly opposed healthcare reform.

Obviously. The Democrats have foster a dependence mentality. The Republicans and Independents prefer self sufficiency.

Pickens predicts older Americans may be among the most worried. “I think I would have angst because of the prospect of significant cost cuts, cutbacks in federal programs including Medicare,” he said.

Perhaps if people would more self reliant, and would stop expecting their fellow tax payers to take care of them in their old age, older Americans wouldn’t have such concerns.

In February, when the index fell to 98, a statistically significant number of people said they had delayed filling or did not fill a prescription in the past three months and expected to delay or cancel a diagnostic test in the next three months.

Honestly, I would think this had more to do with the economy than healthcare coverage. Even with the best of coverage, you’re still going to have to pay something out of pocket. Well, unless of course, you’re some union lacky, and believe your healthcare is totally ‘free’.

In March, more people said they had lost or reduced their health insurance coverage in the past three months or that they expected to delay or cancel an elective surgical procedure.

Contrary to what the media keeps saying, people are still losing jobs, so naturally, if they have health insurance through the company, they lose their insurance. If companies paid an employee the same amount they are putting into company health care insurance, then wouldn’t it be logical people could have private coverage?

For some reason, when I think of ‘elective surgical procedure’, I think cosmetic. Now, if that’s the case, there is a huge difference between want and need. You might want that bigger pair of boobs, but you do not NEED them. I’ve never understood why any insurance company would cover such procedures. :?

No, it’s not “healthcare” Americans have a problem with….it’s the Federal Giverment that is the issue.  We no longer have ANY confidence in them at all!

No habla Ingles? No welfare
By Howie Carr

I have a big problem with giving my fellow American citizens welfare, so why the hell would I want to extend the handouts to every freeloading illegal alien in the world?

Auntie Zeituni, this means you!

OK, so this proposed cutoff of “services” to non-citizens by GOP Rep. Jeff Perry is a political ploy in his campaign for Congress. Who cares? What exactly is Barack Obama doing proposing amnesty for millions of illegals but trying to gin up his vote for the fall?

What was the problem with the immigration system before Ted Kennedy reformed it back in 1965? If you wanted to immigrate here, you had to have a sponsor, and your American sponsor had to sign an affidavit swearing that you, the immigrant, would not become a burden on the taxpaying public.

CBS Promotes Breaking The Law

CBS Again Focuses on Victims in Arizona: ‘Many Feel the Sting of Racism in New Law’

For the second consecutive weeknight, the CBS Evening News on Monday framed Arizona’s new anti-illegal immigrant bill around the fears and charges of its supposed victims. With “ANGER & ANXIETY” on screen below video of signs hostile to the new law (“LAND OF THE FREE! REALLY?” and a Swastika sign with “Achtung! Papers Please”), Katie Couric teased: “Anger in Arizona against a new law allowing police to make you prove you’re in the country legally” – followed by a man who impugned supporters: “They’re just focusing on us because we’re brown.”

You break the law, you are a CRIMINAL. If you are a CRIMINAL, you should be punished. Breaking into my home, which was bought and paid for by the blood of our forefathers is a criminal act. Knocking, and being invited in, is not. If you are from Ireland, and don’t knock, you are a CRIMINAL. If you come from Russia, and don’t knock, you are a CRIMINAL. If you are from Mexico, and don’t knock, but come barging right on in, YOU ARE A CRIMINAL! I don’t give a flip! You break the law, sneak into my home, you will be booted out, at the point of a gun!

Aiding and abetting in a criminal act is also punishable by law. Therefore, I would like to see Katie Couric, along with all the other alphabet’s so called journalists, Barack Hussein Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, many from the Catholic Church, etc, CHARGED FOR AIDING AND ABETTING IN THE COMMISSION OF A CRIME!

JUNIOR PEREZ: If I’m a citizen or not, I’m always going to be Mexican.

Bud, if you consider yourself a Mexican, and not an AMERICAN, you are already in the wrong place, citizen or not! :?

The Obama Fiscal Responsibility Farce Continues
The Foundry

Today President Barack Obama’s National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility and Reform will convene for the first time at the White House. Tasked with making recommendations to Congress that would put the budget in primary balance by 2015 and “meaningfully improve” our nation’s long-term fiscal outlook, the commission meets a little over a month after Congress approved a new $2.5 trillion health care entitlement that the Obama administration now confirms will increase our nation’s total health care spending.

This is a now familiar pattern for the White House: first enact record breaking levels of deficit spending, then turn right around and promise austerity sometime in the future. This February, after signing the largest single-year increase in domestic federal spending since World War II, President Obama held a “fiscal responsibility” summit designed to “send a signal that we are serious” about putting the nation on sounder financial footing. The Washington Post’s Dana Milbank quipped at the time: “Holding a ‘fiscal responsibility summit’ at the White House in the middle of a government spending spree is a bit like having an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting at a frat house on homecoming weekend.”

Vote For OUR Local Mom :)

27 April 2010, 7:56 am. Comments Off. Filed under Tennessee.

Erika Forsbach is the backbone of Karl Forsbach Farms Incorporated located in Savannah, Tennessee. Her role in the family farm extends to every corner of the row grain operation. She often gets questioned about what consumes her time since both sons are out of school. Her reply, “maintaining detailed books,” does not even begin to cover her presence on the farm.

My mother and father started farming in the early 1980s. They faced high interest rates, high land values, and fluctuating grain prices that required strong determination and support from both decision makers. Mom drove the tractor to help prepare the ground for planting, brought lunch and dinner to fields to keep the crew going, and perhaps most importantly, raised two boys that she is very proud of.

Today, she doesn’t have to drive the tractor but her role is just as strong. Big decisions about where to construct pivots, what equipment is needed, and helping her son start out farming take up most of her time. She is also the chairman of Savannah’s renaissance committee, board member of the Chamber of Commerce, and travels to support the Tennessee Soybean Association and Farm Bureau events. She has a talent for decorating and volunteers her time to various community events. Erika Forsbach is a strong woman who has seen the tough times and the good times of farming. She’s a farming advocate and knows what it means to take a gamble in the river bottom. Her determination and work ethic are a direct reflection of what Karl Forsbach Farms Inc. has achieved today. As a family we joke that without our mom, dad would have given up many years ago. It’s beneficial that they make a good team because that is what takes for a family farm to endure. (nominated by Carl Forsbach)

VOTE FOR ERIKA FORSBACH HERE!

“I am absolutely thrilled, excited and proud to have been chosen as the Farm Mom of the Southeast Region. I am sure there were many other well-deserving farm moms out there! It has always been our number one priority to provide our children with the best education and to encourage them to always strive to do the best of their capabilities, and when a child returns to the family farm after a good college education to carry on the tradition of a fifth generation in family farming and honors his mother with such loving words in this manner, I am deeply touched. It’s the ultimate compliment.”

CBO Confirms You’re on the Hook for Wall Street Bailout Bill
The Foundry

President Barack Obama’s favorite rhetorical device is to lecture the American people about what are and are not “legitimate” public policy arguments. So throughout the health care debate, President Obama insisted that it was “not legitimate” to claim that “a public option is somehow a Trojan horse for a single-payer system.” This despite the fact that Reps. Barney Frank (D-MA), Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Anthony Weiner (D-NY) and Nobel Prize winning New York Times columnist Paul Krugman were all caught on video explaining to single-payer advocates that the public option was exactly that.

Now the President is bringing the same audacity to the health care debate, telling a handpicked audience at New York’s Cooper Union: “Now, there is a legitimate debate taking place about how best to ensure taxpayers are held harmless in this process. But what is not legitimate is to suggest that we’re enabling or encouraging future taxpayer bailouts, as some have claimed. That may make for a good sound bite, but it’s not factually accurate.”

Local Sinkhole

Sinkhole Closes Highway In Wayne County

A sinkhole has shut down a portion of Highway 64 in Wayne County, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. The problem was being blamed on the heavy rains that fell Saturday.

THP officials said Sunday there was a 50 foot section down the middle of the road that cracked and sank several feet near Savannah. In addition, the eastbound shoulder dropped down 5 feet.

An engineer with the Tennessee Department of Transportation requested both lanes be shut down and all traffic be rerouted.

Crews estimated the repairs should be finished by the middle of the week.

Peachy.  :?   Well, I guess it’s a good thing I don’t have to go east on 64 to get to the doc’s this afternoon! And here, I thought they were making fairly decent progress on getting that road done.  I’m trying to think of which way the traffic could be rerouted without making your trip an extra hour.  Hmmm…

Update: Picture from The Courier’s Facebook page: (you’d think they’d post it on the paper’s website, wouldn’t you)

A Very Confused Candidate

26 April 2010, 7:26 am. 28 Comments. Filed under 2010.

Pennsylvania Democrat defends his ‘historic’ bisexuality, lashes out at critics who claim he doesn’t have gay sex

Just how bisexual is Gregg Kravitz? His political career may pivot on the answer. Kravitz is a 29-year-old former stockbroker from Philadelphia, who is running for the Pennsylvania statehouse. He claims to be a bisexual.

His opponent in the Democratic primary, incumbent Babette Josephs, says Kravitz is lying about who he sleeps with in order to curry favor with gay voters. Josephs claims she met a woman at a fundraiser who identified herself as Kravitz’s girlfriend. “I outed him as a straight person,” Josephs announced.

“I do have a girlfriend,” Kravitz conceded in an interview with The Daily Caller, “but I am a bisexual man, which means I am attracted to both men and women.” Kravitz says he has been involved with girlfriend Leah Greenspoon since they met on New Years Eve, and ultimately could see himself married to either a man or a woman. “I’m very happy in the relationship that I’m in, but it doesn’t mean you’re not attracted to other people,” adding that he’s “disappointed that I have to use my time and energy to respond to blatant lies about my sexuality.”

This is what Democrat candidates spend their time and energy doing?  Running on whether or not one of them offends God on a regular basis, and is proud of that fact?  How low can these people stoop?

Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

It’s not that hard to understand!  To actually proudly insist that he’s in sin, in order to curry favor with others who offend God, that’s just beyond my comprehension.

Why are the Democrats so obsessed with sex? Of any kind? Always pointing out the sins of others, yet never admitting their own. Blatantly flaunting, and promoting, any number of offenses, yet never see those four fingers pointing back at themselves? And this guy….I don’t even know what to make of him. He obviously can’t make up his mind about his own life, yet expects the voters of his Pennsylvania district to trust him to make choices concerning theirs? Seriously?
