Report: Health Overhaul Will Increase Nation’s Tab

President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul law will increase the nation’s health care tab instead of bringing costs down, government economic forecasters concluded Thursday in a sobering assessment of the sweeping legislation.

I’m thinking this is one of those “told ya so” moments!

A report by economic experts at the Health and Human Services Department said the health care remake will achieve Obama’s aim of expanding health insurance — adding 34 million Americans to the coverage rolls.

The Fatal Flaws of the Wall Street Bailout Bill
The Foundry

Speaking to an audience of big business and big labor executives (including Goldman Sachs’ Lloyd Blankfein, Bank of America’s Bruce Thompson and SEIU’s Andy Stern) at New York’s Cooper Union, President Barack Obama noted “the furious efforts of industry lobbyists to shape” the financial regulation bill “to their special interests.” Obama then admitted, “I am sure that many of those lobbyists work for some of you. But I am here today because I want to urge you to join us, instead of fighting us in this effort.” Obama should have saved his breath. Wall Street and big labor lobbyists have already joined forces to make sure the current Senate legislation has become a Wall Street Bailout Bill.

Senate Democrats Gather In The Rules Committee To Eliminate The Filibuster

The radicals in Washington are giving the Marxists in Venezuela a run for their money.
Senate Democrats have gathered in the Rules Committee to eliminate the filibuster.
Republican.Senate.Gov
reported:

THEN-SEN. BARACK OBAMA (D-IL): “What [The American People] Do Not Expect Is For One Party, Be It Republican Or Democrat, To Change The Rules In The Middle Of The Game So They Can Make All The Decisions While The Other Party Is Told To Sit Down And Keep Quiet.” “What they do not expect is for one party, be it Republican or Democrat, to change the rules in the middle of the game so they can make all the decisions while the other party is told to sit down and keep quiet. The American people want less partisanship in this town, but everyone in this Chamber knows that if the majority chooses to end the filibuster, if they choose to change the rules and put an end to democratic debate, then the fighting, the bitterness, and the gridlock will only get worse.” (Sen. Obama, Congressional Record, S.3512, 4/13/05)

THEN-SEN. JOE BIDEN (D-DE): “I Pray God When The Democrats Take Back Control, We Don’t Make The Kind Of Naked Power Grab You Are Doing.” (Sen. Biden, Congressional Record, S.5737, 5/23/05)

SEN. HARRY REID (D-NV): “The Need To Muster 60 Votes In Order To Terminate Senate Debate Naturally Frustrates The Majority And Oftentimes The Minority. I Am Sure It Will Frustrate Me When I Assume The Office Of Majority Leader In A Few Weeks. But I Recognize This Requirement Is A Tool That Serves The Long-Term Interest Of The Senate And The American People And Our Country.” (Sen. Reid, Congressional Record, S.11591, 12/8/06)

•    REID: “Mr. President, The Filibuster Is Not A ‘Procedural Gimmick.’ The Filibuster Is An Important Check On Executive Power And Part Of Every Senator’s Right To Free Speech In The United States Senate.” (Sen. Harry Reid, “Reid Floor Statement On Nuclear Option,” Press Release, 5/17/05)

More of their male bovine excrement here!

This isn’t just a power grab….it’s a SEIZE of power. Hugo Chavez comes to mind.

The more I see this Ron Ramsey campaign ad, the more I like it! No, I still haven’t decided, just know who I won’t be supporting in the primary. I keep thinking there is a lot of time before the primary, but then I realize, there’s only 3 months. :? Dang.

I went out to give the mama cat some food, and found that one of the kittens is now gone.  The little gray and white one isn’t there anymore.  It was there this morning when I looked in on them.  Ok, looked out the living room window, but you know what I mean.  Now, just a few hours later… gone.  :(   I guess maybe it wasn’t as healthy as it looked?  I don’t know.  I looked around to see if she had stashed it somewhere close by, but saw no sign.  sigh…

I know.  I didn’t want them on the porch in the first place, but still.

EPA stands in the way of recovery
By Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.)

Not far from my district the Spring Hill plant sits idle. GM pulled out of Spring Hill, once the proud home to the Saturn line, in the wake of its bankruptcy last year. Reopening the plant, either for the production of cars or anything else, will be critical to jobs growth in Middle Tennessee. At a listening session with constituents who live in the 7th district and used to commute to work in Spring Hill, the message was clear: to get the plant up and running again, Washington is going to have to do … less.

Do Lefties Really Hate Freedom?

Economic Freedom Will Save the Earth
The Foundry

The New York City sightseeing company Gray Line is promoting an “Earth Week” package of day trips that includes visits to “green spots” like the botanical gardens and flower shopping at Chelsea Market. The fact that these tours will be taken on buses running on fossil fuels does not sit well with the first Earth Day national coordinator Denis Hayes who tells The New York Times what he thinks of such green consumerism: “This ridiculous perverted marketing has cheapened the concept of what is really green. It is tragic.”

The left in this country has always considered it “tragic” when people make money in this country, and the plight of the earth is just one of many justifications they have used over the years to demonize free markets. Back in the 70s, President Barack Obama’s Director for Science and Technology Policy John Holdren even came up with a formula to measure capitalism’s evil impact on the environment: I=PAT, which means that environmental impact is equal to population multiplied by affluence multiplied by technology. Thus according to the left, protecting the planet requires fewer people, less wealth and simpler technology. But this is just flat wrong. In fact, studies clearly show that important indicators of environmental quality actually improve as incomes and levels of consumption go up.

Save The Earth – Kill The Babies!

An excellent post by Alan Caruba:

The Naked Communism of Earth Day

Just a snippet.

It is no accident that April 22, Earth Day, is also the birth date of Vladimir Lenin, an acolyte of Karl Marx, the lunatic who invented communism as an alternative to capitalism.

Earth Day is naked communism.

To begin, it substitutes a worship of the Earth, Gaia, for the worship of God, creator of the universe and the instructor of moral behavior for mankind.

The Earth does not demand a moral code of personal behavior. Indeed, the lesson it teaches is “the survival of the fittest “and an indifference to suffering. The “natural events” mankind fears most all involve the potential for significant loss of life and for injury.

The Earth is a beautiful place, but it is utterly merciless. Man has learned to adapt to it and, by adapt, I mean to use its resources to build shelter and protection from it, to plant and harvest crops from it, and to domesticate some of its species while hunting and fishing for others for food.

I don’t, and WON’T, worship a planet. I worship God, Who created the planet!

Exodus 20:1-5

1 And God spake all these words, saying,

2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Before You Start Celebrating….

22 April 2010, 7:26 am. Comments Off. Filed under Economy, Feckless Weasels, Male Bovine Excrement, Taxes.

In a commercial, the head honcho of GM brags about paying back the “loan” from the taxpayers. Before you start doing the snoopy dance, you might want to reconsider exactly how this happened:

RUSH: There’s a story out there, the automobile salesmen at General Motors, automobile salesmen at AP, an excited headline, breathlessly so: “GM Pays Back Government Loans from US, Canada.” No, they didn’t. Here, listen to the lede: “General Motors Co. has repaid $8.1 billion in loans it got from the U.S. and Canadian governments, a move its CEO says is a sign automaker is on the road to recovery.” Now, if you only read the headline and the lead paragraph, you’d get the distinct impression that what? They paid it all back, right. You get the distinct impression that GM has fully repaid all the money they’ve gotten from the US and Canadian governments. Why would the AP want to mislead its readers like this? In fact, the General Motors outfit got a total of $61.5 billion from the US and Canada, but now it’s shouted from the rooftop when they paid back a mere eight billion. That’s what they’ve paid back. They have paid back a total of 13% of the government loan, and here the car salesman from the Associated Press report says they fully paid it back, which they have not. One thing that they don’t point out here very stridently — of course, leaving it to me who can read the stitches on the fastball — they had the money to do this. Where did they get some of the eight billion to pay back? They did it by jettisoning 65,000 jobs, and the pensions that go with them, so they fired 65,000 people, got rid of their pensions and they said that they are paying it back. They haven’t earned it. They’re cutting and it’s only because Obama owns the car companies along with the UAW that you can fire 65,000 union people.

I wonder if those 65,000 who lost their jobs, are all happy?  How about those folks who no longer have a pension?  Are they all pickled tink?  I kind of doubt it.

US military jury clears SEAL in Iraq abuse case

A U.S. military jury cleared a Navy SEAL Thursday of failing to prevent the beating of an Iraqi prisoner suspected of masterminding a 2004 attack that killed four American security contractors.

The contractors’ burned bodies were dragged through the streets and two were hanged from a bridge over the Euphrates river in the former insurgent hotbed of Fallujah, in what became a turning point in the Iraq war.

The trial of three SEALs, the Navy’s elite special forces unit, in the abuse case has outraged many Americans who see it as coddling terrorists.

That piece of garbage should never have lived to bring any kind of charges, much less ‘abuse’!

THIS is abuse!

They are the enemy. The enemy is evil. Evil must be destroyed!

“It’s a big weight off my shoulders,” a smiling and composed Huertas said as he left the courthouse at the U.S. military’s Camp Victory on Baghdad’s western outskirts.

“Compared to all the physical activity we go through, this has been mentally more challenging.”

Huertas said he plans now to continue with his military career and “to go home and kiss my wife.”

I pray this young man and his family will be able to put this behind them, although, knowing the anti-military bend of this current administration, I wonder if he’s going to be able to continue his career?

None of these men should have been charged! NONE!

Obama’s climate of fear
Earth Day hysteria is based on lots of phony science

The purported science behind the global-warming fad is in full retreat these days, but word has yet to reach the White House. President Obama is determined to promote the alleged climate crisis as a lever for pushing through his big-government agenda. The O Force doesn’t believe in wasting a crisis, even if it’s a mirage.

If there is no crisis, why, let’s just create one!

In mid-March, the White House Interagency Climate Change Adaptation Task Force did its bit for climate terror. “Climate-change impacts are pervasive, wide-ranging and affect the core systems of our society: transportation, ecosystems, agriculture, business, infrastructure, water and energy, among others,” its report stated. The panel also expressed concern that “Climate change already is affecting the ability of federal agencies to fulfill their missions,” which – if true – many Americans would view as a positive development.

Oh yeah! Shut ‘em down flat! That WOULD be a positive development. :D Ok, who comes up with these ridiculous names? White House Interagency Climate Change Adaptation Task Force? WHICCATF? Is that kind of like Wicca the f…? Or….WTF? Ok, I’ll try to behave. :P

Wouldn’t A Mini Series on Attila the Hun Explain Nancy Pelosi?
by Ann Coulter

Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC special on Timothy McVeigh this past Monday night did not come a moment too soon. As Maddow explained in the introduction to her show: “Nine years after his execution, we are left worrying that Timothy McVeigh’s voice from the grave echoes in the new rising tide of American anti-government extremism.”

After months of hysterically warning viewers that cheerful, well-dressed tea partiers carrying “I Can See November From My House” signs could suddenly erupt into wanton violence, MSNBC finally had proof: Timothy McVeigh.

How about a special on the KGB to help us understand what makes Henry Waxman tick? We’re just trying to seek answers …
