The Freedom from Coercion Act

10 April 2010, 12:37 pm. Comments Off. Filed under Life, Opinion, Tennessee.

Abortion coercion against the law

Tennessee’s legislature has passed a bill requiring abortion facilities to post a sign detailing state law on forced or coerced abortions.

The Freedom from Coercion Act (SB 3812) was sponsored in the Senate by Senator Jack Johnson (R), who explains one of the factors behind introducing the bill.

“The Medical Science Monitor, which is an interdisciplinary medical journal, cited a statistic. They did a survey, and 64 percent of women who had abortions reported that they were in some way influenced or coerced into having that abortion,” Johnson reports. “That might have been from a boyfriend…a spouse, a husband, parents or some other person.”

The pro-baby murder bunch would have you believe the “my body, my choice” nonsense, but quite often, it is NOT the woman’s choice.  Outside influences can often promote the slaughter of innocents.  Obviously, the child is given no choice at all.

The bill, SB 3812, summarized:

Bill Summary

Present law makes it a Class A misdemeanor for a person to compel, coerce, or exercise duress against any person in order to obtain or procure an abortion on any female. Additionally, present law provides that an abortion may be performed or induced only with the informed written consent of the pregnant woman, given freely and without coercion. Generally, this bill requires:

(1) Facilities that perform abortions to post signs informing people of the above provisions; and
(2) That additional information be given to any pregnant woman who is a minor, as described below.

See whole bill, with amendments, here.

The bill in no way denies the right to an abortion, and Johnson notes that a lawsuit against it is possible. He is confident, however, that it meets constitutional muster, and he says placing the signs is the same as posting about state law on alcohol and tobacco sales.

I’m baffled how anyone could have voted against such a bill, but there appears to have been 4. The way the website is set up, it’s difficult to tell what the final vote was exactly.

Andy Berke, D – Chattanooga

Ophelia Ford, D – Memphis (part of Shelby County-District 29)

Jim Kyle, D – Memphis (part of Shelby County-District 28)

Beverly Marrero, D – Memphis (part of Shelby County-District 30)

(If I am mistaken in my understanding of this vote, please correct me.)

Is it any wonder that conservatives call the Democrats the “party of death”? Now, while it’s not surprising that all are Democrats, it is surprising that 2 women are in that number. I am continually dismayed that the gender, that is suppose to be nurturing, always seem to be the first on the band wagon in their desire to destroy life. I just don’t get it.

Also, it’s not surprising that 3 of these state senators are from the Memphis area.  :?

The bill has been sent to Governor Bredesen to sign.  I’m hoping, even though he is a Democrat, he will have the good sense to sign it into law.

Picking a Fight with Patriots
By Alan Caruba

The British, when they still ruled the American colonies, learned to their displeasure what a bad idea it is to pick a fight with patriots.

By the time the Revolution began the colonies had been running their own affairs for a long time and, while many saw benefits in being allied with one of the great powers of their times and their world, they soon tired of “taxation without representation.”

A Murderous Muslim Doesn’t Like D’Bama

Accused killer lashes out at Obama

Today during a court hearing at the Pulaski County Courthouse accused killer Adbulhakim Muhammad lashed out at the President and pledged allegiance to Osama bin Laden.

“I don’t like Obama, because he’s a Catholic and an infidel. He kills Muslims just like George Bush. Death to Obama Peace to Osama,” says Abdulhakim Muhammad.

Obviously, this is not the brightest bulb in the box. A muzzie convert, murders an American soldier, shoots another one, on AMERICAN soil, and then threatens D’Bama? Why? Because he’s a Catholic? D’Bama is Catholic? I wonder if Jeremiah Wright knows he was a Catholic priest, instead of just a racist? I’m not really sure when Black Liberation Theology turn into Catholicism, but I was under the impression that Catholics are more inclined to give to charity mostly by choice, rather than force (Marxism).

The prosecution contends the state has a solid case for capital murder and is preparing for trial.

Jeez, I should hope so!  He said he did it!  Not sure why taxpayers should even have to pay for a trial at all.  One bullet, problem solved.  And now he’s threatening the POTUS?

The defense is still waiting for the Supreme Court to rule whether tax dollars, from the public defender commission, will help pay for Muhammad’s defense.

Seriously, one bullet.

A census sign that the Tea Party is less than it seems

The 19th century cartoonist Thomas Nast, who made the Republican Party an elephant and the Democratic Party a donkey, would, if he were alive today, have reason to draw the Tea Party as a paper tiger.

At least if the Great Census Panic of 2010 is any indication.

Dream on dud…er… dude. I realize the thought of people actually coming together, and speaking out….from the RIGHT….scares the bejabbers out you lefties, but resorting to wishful thinking in opinion pieces really diminishes your stand on just about everything.

Glenn Beck, Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul and others in the Tea Party’s starting lineup have warned Americans about the evils of the census, and many activists have called for a boycott. This prompted fears among Republicans that they would lose seats in Congress if conservatives refused to be counted, and Karl Rove took to the airwaves this week to urge compliance.

I don’t know about Ron Paul, I don’t pay much attention to him unless he’s talking about the Fed, but honestly, I never once heard either Beck, or Rep. Bachmann, talking about ‘the evils of the census’, just the overly intrusive questions that have been added. You see, there is only one question that needs to be asked, and the rest are just an indication of the overstepping of bounds we’ve come to expect from THIS federal government.

He [Keating] found that, as of Thursday, counties that went for John McCain in 2008 were returning census forms at a slightly higher rate than counties that went for Barack Obama: 62.4 percent to 62.0 percent. Heavily Republican counties were responding at a higher rate than heavily Democratic counties (61.0 to 58.0 percent), and moderately Republican counties were complying a bit more than moderately Democratic counties (64.7 percent to 64.4 percent).

As best I can recall, among discussions with friends, no one ever said they wouldn’t be mailing back the form. Like all good folks, who want representation in Congress to reflect the population, we did our civic duty. But I wonder, did all that data they’ve collected mention just how much of the invasive document was completed? I bet he doesn’t have the answer to that, since, for one thing, it’s none of his freakin’ business.

At first, it appeared these voices were being heard. The Houston Chronicle reported that the Texas census response was low and cited “anti-government conservatives who may not fill out their forms to protest against ‘Big Brother.’ “

Once again, the media misrepresenting Tea Party folks. We aren’t anti-government ya brainless twit! That would imply that we are all anarchists. Sheesh! Now, if I spell this REAL SLOW, do you think you can keep up?

W-E….. A-R-E……. S-M-A-L-L……. G-O-V-E-R-N-M-E-N-T…….. A-D-V-O-C-A-T-E-S!

See?  I even put the words in different colors, so you can discern the difference.  Just one more service provided for your convenience.

(Cheese and crackers! Where do they find these people??)

As for the Chronicle?  Well, considering Houston, and Texas itself,  has a large population of ILLEGALS, is it so surprising that

Republicans were alarmed. “Early census returns are showing that conservatives have been measurably less likely than liberals to return their census forms,” Rep. Patrick McHenry (N.C.). wrote on RedState.com, blaming “blatant misinformation coming from otherwise well-meaning conservatives.”

Unlike the left, and a large number of politicians, left and right, WE are LAW abiding folks. The Ol’ Broad household sent back the census a couple of days after we received it, with the appropriate answer inserted – “2″.  I suggest you pick up a copy of the U.S. Constitution.  Ya might learn something.  Although, I really wouldn’t want you to hurt yourself, trying to get those two brain cells to rub together.

(And yes, I did view/listen to the videos that were linked.  Obviously, you heard only what you WANTED to hear. Even Ron Paul had it right!  Listen again, and then look up the information you obviously missed the first time around.  I’d provide the links for you, but why should I do YOUR job?  WaPo isn’t paying me, y’know!  Ok, I’ll be nice…. ONE clue….look up the 1790 census…THAT is what Glenn Beck was talking about!  But that’s all the help you are getting!)

Goody Bags??

Curious About Cost Of Census Goody Bags

The folks at the U.S. Census are busy sending out forms and counting people for the $14 billion project.

The Census Bureau says the law states you can be fined as much as $5,000 if you fail to return it.

We here at WBZ were curious:

Those goody bags the Census is giving out, how much are they costing taxpayers?

It’s a $208 million marketing blitz to get you to mail in your census form.

What’s inside the bag?

A t-shirt, a coffee mug, buttons, a coloring book, a tote bag and a hat.

“We don’t need constant reminders to fill out the census,” one person told us.

Why would the federal government think this was a good idea?  Well, it’s not THEIR money, is it, so it’s ok to spend more….and more….and MORE…on useless trinkets.  It’s all part of the ‘gimme’ mentality!  And they are perpetrating the crime of THEFT, on the American people. “MADE IN CHINA“!!!

“We need to brand the Census,” said Kathleen Ludgate, the regional director for the Census.

She said the goal is to get as many people as possible to mail in their forms.

Ludgate says spending the money on gift bags could possibly mean $300 million in savings.

Seriously? Spending billions to bribe people who have already gotten the letter, and a post card, reminding them to fill out the census, to the tune of, at a minimum, 5 MILION DOLLARS…..of taxpayer money. But don’t forget, we are a bunch of morons, so we need these little perks.

Considering the form was suppose to be sent in by April 1, if I’m not mistaken, would someone explain to me just why they are passing out MORE taxpayer money?  (click the link, and watch the video)

The following was captured by the allied forces in Dusseldorf, May 1919

Communist Strategy for Revolution Captured at Dusseldorf; 1919

1. Corrupt the young. Get them away from religion. Get them interested in sex. Make them superficial; destroy their ruggedness.
2. Get control of all means of publicity and thereby:

1. Get people’s minds off their government by focusing their attention on sexy books, plays and other trivialities.
2. Divide the people into hostile groups by constantly harping on controversial matters of no importance.
3. Destroy the people’s faith in their natural leaders by holding the latter up to contempt and ridicule.
4. Always preach true democracy, but seize power as fast and as ruthlessly as possible.
5. By encouraging government extravagance, destroy its credit, produce fear of inflation with rising prices and general discontent.
6. Foment unnecessary strikes in vital industries, encourage civil disorders and foster a lenient and soft attitude on the part of government toward such disorders.
7. By specious argument cause the breakdown of the old moral virtues, honesty, sobriety, continence, faith in the pledged word, ruggedness.

3. Cause the registration of all firearms on some pretext with a view to confiscating them and leaving the population helpless.

Source.

When I was a kid, my dad had several neatly typed out sheets of onion paper, typed on his old Royal, folded and placed in his Bible.  This was one of them that I remember, along with The Communist Manifesto, and many Bible verses.  I asked him why he had such things in his Bible, and he told me, “So I won’t ever forget Who is in charge.”  That has stuck in my mind all these many years.  I remember, also, Who is really in charge of my life, and it’s not the federal government, Democrats, unions, Republicans, or any other entity here on this Earth.  No, my Boss is a LOT more powerful than ANY of them, combined.

I was lucky enough to have been given a strong foundation, through family, church, and even the schools I attended (before the indoctrination really set in), and prayer was part of the daily routine.  A child’s education starts with the parent.  Give them a good foundation, and we’ll see major changes in this country.  REAL change for REAL hope.

AP: Rep. Bart Stupak Retiring After 18 Years in Congress

Democratic Congressman Bart Stupak of Michigan tells The Associated Press he’ll retire from Congress rather than seek a 10th term this year.

Stupak has drawn stinging criticism from opponents of the recently enacted health care overhaul after leading a bloc of anti-abortion Democrats whose last-minute support was crucial to its approval by the House.

The Tea Party Express is calling for his defeat at rallies in his sprawling northern Michigan district this week.

But Stupak tells the AP the attacks didn’t influence his decision and he could win re-election if he tried.

Heh. Yeah….right! Some folks can see the handwriting on the wall, even if they don’t want to admit it!

Muslim scholar visits U.S. after travel ban lifted

A leading Muslim scholar, in the United States for the first time in six years after the Obama administration lifted a travel ban on him, says he will not shy away from criticizing the president whose policies finally allowed him to visit.

Gracious sakes. A travel ban on a “muslim scholar”. What could that be all about? Better question: Who would lift such a ban?

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton lifted the ban on Ramadan in January.

I’m sure she did this all on her own, right? And D’Bama had nothing to do with it, what so ever!  Wonder when they are going take the bounty off Osama/Usama bin Laden’s head?

President Clueless Strikes Again

Obama’s False START
The Foundry

Just hours before President Barack Obama unveiled his Nuclear Posture Review (NPR) on Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters in Moscow that the Kremlin maintained the right to withdraw from the new START agreement if the United States pursued its missile defense program. Late last night, the White House responded to Lavrov’s statement, insisting: “The Russian statement does no more than give the United States fair notice that it may decide to pull out of the New START Treaty if Russia believes our missile defense system affects strategic stability. We believe it doesn’t.”

But the Russians could care less what the Obama administration believes about missile defense. The Russians have made it exceedingly clear that Kremlin compliance with the treaty will evaporate at any point when Moscow decides our missile defense program threatens them. And the Russians have already said repeatedly that they believe it does. There is a good reason that neither Russian President Dmitri Medvedev nor Prime Minister Vladimir Putin have uttered a word about the treaty in public. As New York University professor of Russian Studies and History Stephen Cohen told MSNBC just seconds after Presidents Obama and Medvedev signed the agreement: “Politically it is an unstable treaty.” Why should the U.S. Senate ratify a treaty that Russia maintains it can exit at any time?
