Public Housing
You may have seen this, but it bears repeating.
The problem with public housing is that the residents are not the owners.
The people that live in the house did not earn the house, but were loaned the property from the true owners, the taxpayers. Because of this, the residents do not have the “pride of ownership” that comes with the hard work necessary. In fact, the opposite happens and the residents resent their benefactors because the very house is a constant reminder that they themselves did not earn the right to live in the house. They do not appreciate the value of the property and see no need to maintain or respect it in any way.
The result is the same whether you are talking about a studio apartment or a magnificent mansion full of priceless antiques. If the people who live there do not feel they earned the privilege, they will make this known through their actions. The picture below illustrates the point!!
The Resolute Desk was built from the timbers of the HMS Resolute and was a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes. It is considered a national treasure and icon of the presidency.
Mr. Obama, with all due respect…….

A Local Issue
Yesterday, even though I was basically brain dead….well, more so than normal, I went to a meet & greet with one of the candidates for Hardin County Sheriff. I had been leaning towards this guy, but wanted to hear a bit more from him before making up my mind.
One of the reasons we picked this area was because of the low crime rate. In the 3 1/2 years since we moved here, the crime rate has increased. No, we had nothing to do with that increase!
As with many rural areas, the number of meth labs are growing. Drugs are a HUGE problem nationwide, but the production of such a destructive drug in small towns is growing by leaps and bounds. I would question why anyone would want to live in a drug, or alcohol, induced state.
So, after a few questions, mostly asked by me, I decided he’d get my vote. Not that I carry much sway in the neighborhood, but I do find Jim Davis to be qualified, and standing on principles. If elected, I sure hope he’ll put his words into deeds. One major point in his favor…..he’s not a smooth talkin’ politician. I rather like that in officials elected to SERVE!
Obama Is NO Reagan
New START, New Slogan … Trust But Don’t Verify
The Foundry
In 1987, at the signing of the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF), President Ronald Reagan summarized his approach to arms-control by citing an old Russian proverb: “doveryai, no proveryai.” Translation: trust, but verify. When Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev noted, “You say that at every meeting,” Reagan shot back, “I like it.”
Like everything else the Obama administration does, their approach to arms control is the exact opposite of President Reagan. As the following exchange from this Tuesday’s Senate Armed Services Committee New START hearing shows, the Obama administration approach to arms control might as well be, “trust, but don’t bother to verify.” Here is the crucial exchange between Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and U.S. Strategic Command Commander, Air Force General Kevin Chilton:
Sen. McCain: General Chilton, do you agree with the unclassified statement in the State Department Verification Assessment that ‘any cheating by the Russians would have little, if any, effect?’
General Chilton: Senator McCain, I do agree with that…
Sen. McCain: Well, what this brings to the casual observer’s mind, General, is if it doesn’t have any consequences if they do any cheating, what’s the point in having a treaty?
Only in the bizarro world of the Obama administration is this country made any safer by signing treaty that the counter party has no intention of following. And that is just the beginning of New START’s many fatal flaws.

Weasel Time
“Journolist” Weasels
I knew that so called journalist, of the libtard variety weren’t extremely bright, but I really had no idea they were this flippin’ ignorant. Criminy!
Blogger Matt Yglesias sent out a new post thread with the subject, “The line on Palin.”
“John McCain picked someone to help him politically, Barack Obama picked someone to help him govern,” Yglesias wrote.
Seriously??? ROFLMAO Biden was thought to have been chosen to help govern? Holy crap!
Suzanne Nossel, chief of operations for Human Rights Watch, added a novel take: “I think it is and can be spun as a profoundly sexist pick. Women should feel umbrage at the idea that their votes can be attracted just by putting a woman, any woman, on the ticket no matter her qualifications or views.”
Mother Jones’s Stein loved the idea. “That’s excellent! If enough people – people on this list? – write that the pick is sexist, you’ll have the networks debating it for days. And that negates the SINGLE thing Palin brings to the ticket,” he wrote.
What a bunch of freakin’ hypocrites! THEY chose a ‘black man’, a socialist, with NO experience at anything, and yet the choice of Sarah Palin was sexist? Jiminy crickets! Is it any wonder no one can take these clowns seriously? It’s not surprising the alphabets have lost so many viewers, and the print media is major decline. Does anyone actually listen to these asshats? This isn’t journalism. This is not news reporting. This is propaganda. Woodrow Wilson and Joseph Geobbels must be SO proud!
Govermental Double Dipping
The Obama Tax Tsunami is Here
The Foundry
The American people are already well aware of President Barack Obama’s historic expansion of government spending: his $862 billion economic stimulus that has completely failed to keep unemployment below 8% as promised; his still-expanding health care law which the Congressional Budget Office now admits will cost more than $1 trillion; and an Obama budget that increases government spending by $12,000 per household. But all that spending is just the first half of President Obama’s game plan.
Glenn Beck 07/21/10
Leave it to the administration to mess with Glenn’s show. Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like there is something missing at the end?
Home!
After 3 weeks, I’m finally home. I strolled in the door shortly after 4, watched Beck, then fell asleep. I guess I was tired.
I had planned on heading to church, but that obviously didn’t happen. I don’t sleep walk! Well, haven’t since the 3rd grade when I lost my Brownie ring in a neighbor’s back yard, and evidently decided to search for it in the middle of the night.

Obama’s Poll Numbers Down, Imaginary Racism Up
by Ann Coulter
The Democrats are depressed about their collapsing poll numbers, so it’s time to start calling conservatives “racist.”
As we now know from the Journolist list-serv, where hundreds of liberal journalists chat with one another, and which was leaked to Daily Caller this week, journalists cry “racism” whenever they need to distract from bad news for Obama. (Ironically, this story did not make headlines.)
When the Rev. Jeremiah Wright scandal broke during the 2008 campaign, the first response of Spencer Ackerman of the Washington Independent was to demand that they start randomly picking conservatives — “Fred Barnes, Karl Rove, who cares — and call them racists.”
“A Mistake”! So, Let’s Make A Few More!
The Special Relationship Beyond BP
The Foundry
British Prime Minister David Cameron visited the White House for the first time as Prime Minister yesterday. At a time when the United States is engaged in a war in Afghanistan, when Iran is on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons, and while the world economy is teetering through a weak recovery, one would hope our press corps would focus on lasting issues of physical and economic security. Unfortunately the press conference and the media coverage focused exclusively on the Scottish government’s release of the 1988 Lockerbie bomber and whether BP was involved in the decision.
