Happy Birthday America! America is 234 years old. She was born on July 4, 1776, with the passage of the Declaration of Independence. Since then, America has grown from thirteen colonies on the east coast to fill a vast continent. Her economic and military power is envied around the world. And the American people are hardworking, churchgoing, affluent, and generous.
Independence Day is an opportunity each year to remember the root of our success—our founding principles as set forth in the Declaration of Independence.
The Declaration of Independence serves as a philosophical statement of America’s first principles. As Matthew Spalding describes, the Declaration affirms that all men are created equal. By nature, men have a right to liberty that is inalienable, meaning it cannot be given up or taken away. And because individuals equally possess such inalienable rights, governments derive their just powers from the consent of those governed. The purpose of government is to secure these fundamental rights, and the people retain the right to alter or abolish a government that fails to do so.

Messin’ With The Wrong Guy
Robbers pick wrong target; two shot, one killed by gun-toting victim
Two would-be robbers forgot to ask their victim a key question:
Do you have a gun and know how to use it?
The 21-year-old Bartlett man’s answer might have prevented the two 16-year-olds from being shot.
Instead, an exchange of gunfire between the Bartlett man and the robbers Wednesday night left one teenager dead and the other wounded.
Alyssa Moore, a spokeswoman for Memphis police, said authorities have not released the names of the robber who was killed or the other teenager, who was in noncritical condition.
I just love a happy ending!

FYI
I made it! It was touch and go there for a while, but after hours of torrential rain after I hit Nachadoges heading south on U.S. 59, I arrived at the kid’s house, exhausted and stressed. Nothing more annoying than getting behind people who believe you can’t go faster than 30 in the rain. Granted, I slow down in that kind of downpour too, but seriously…..30?? sigh…. I guess I averaged about 45 for the longest time, so it took me at least 2 or 3 extra hours to get here.
One thing I did see right before leaving Louisiana….a serious ‘pimp mobile’!
You can’t really see it very well, but trust me when I tell ya…that sucker was so seriously decked out! Had to put my shades on when I drove by it, heading back out to the road. I guess some folks have more money than sense, eh? Wonder how this guy made his? Hmm…… Let me think……….. Would have loved to get a peek inside it, just to see if it had a solid gold gear shift, or some such thing. LOL
Anyway, I am here….outside the wilds of Houston. Ok, about an hour outside, but they’re now calling this a ‘bedroom community’. Why? Did it become a little classier since I moved away? Heh.
Obviously, I’ll be spending time with the family, and my only escape will be the computer on occasion. Come to think of it, I might have to escape to my bat cave and rafter on a regular basis. This is MY family we’re talkin’ about here, y’know.

On June 17, Vice President Joe Biden crashed the daily White House press briefing to kick off the Obama administration’s “Recovery Summer,” a six-week-long campaign to promote the belief that “the Recovery Act is working.” VP Biden claimed: “We knew that the hole dug by the recession that was created by the policies of the last administration resulted in a loss, a real loss of somewhere between $2 trillion and $3 trillion in the economy. We never thought that $787 billion was going to fill those holes — that hole.”
There are so many things wrong with this statement, but we’ll identify just three: 1) according to the Congressional Budget Office, the cost of Obama’s stimulus has soared passed $787 billion and now stands at $862 billion; 2) data show that as bad as Biden makes the current recession out to be, more jobs were lost in the first seven quarters of the 2001 recession than were lost in the first seven quarters of this recession; 3) Biden’s personal economic adviser, Jared Bernstein, co-authored a January 9, 2009, report promising the American people that the Obama stimulus would never allow unemployment to rise above 8% and guaranteeing that the U.S. economy would support 138.6 million jobs by December 2010.

Unemployment Drops to 9.5 Percent as 125,000 Jobs Are Shed in June
The unemployment rate dropped to 9.5 percent for the month of June even as the U.S. government dropped 225,000 Census jobs, the Labor Department reported Friday in another sign that the economy is facing a vulnerable recovery.
Private businesses added 83,000 workers to their payrolls in June, an improvement since May and worse than analysts expected.
Hey Joe! How’s that stimulus REALLY workin’? I get news alerts on my phone, so when I read the snippet of so many jobs being lost, yet the unemployment rate went down, I was a tad baffled. Hey, I had just woke up, and the brain never functions until there is coffee involved. After a cup of weak hotel coffee, it comes back to me. People are just giving up.
The unemployment rate fell as 652,000 people out of work gave up on their job searches and left the labor force. People who are no longer looking for work aren’t counted as unemployed.
“The unemployment rate fell to 9.5 percent from 9.7 percent as the 301,000 decline in household employment was more than offset by a drop of 652,000 in the labor force, thus the rate fell not because of a pick up in job gains,’ Miller Tabak analyst Peter Boockvar told Fox Business Network.
I believe we need to have those who have given up must be included in the unemployment rate! The ‘official numbers’ aren’t accurate, and it might give some folks, those without two gray cells to rub together (libtards) the idea that all these ridiculously expensive ideas they keep throwing at us, are actually working. They are not!
The nation has 7.9 million fewer private payroll jobs than it did when the recession began in December 2007.
And there is it. A once rich nation, in than money, has become bankrupt, financially, and morally! Well, commies don’t put much stock in morality, so that’s been happening for a long time. I look at that number again….7.9 MILLION jobs lost in the private sector. You know, the people that actually create REAL, permanent jobs and I have to wonder…..is the entire Democrat Party closet commies? We know the leadership is, but what about all the others? Do they subscribe to the take from the producers, and give it to the non producers ideology as well? ALL of them? If they don’t, then why won’t they stand up to the so called leadership and say “NO”!
A Congressional Budget Office report out Wednesday underscored the implications for the country’s long-term health of a persistently weak economy. Fewer jobs means fewer taxpayers, which means less revenue for the government. If intensive federal spending is not yielding a return on investment, the government is that much deeper in the hole.
It’s not that complicated, yet at every turn, those fools up in D.C. come up with a new convoluted way to screw the American people. Bottom line: The federal government is the ROOT CAUSE of the large number of unemployed.

Road Trip!
Well, ok, I’ve already left home, and am halfway to my destination, but hey, what can I say….I’m old, and forget. 
On my way to spend some time with the Brat, Ick and Short Person down in the wilds of …..someplace outside of Houston.
Right now, I’m sitting in my room at the luxurious Diamond Jack’s Casino and Hotel. Ok, extreme exaggeration on that ‘luxurious’ part, but hey, the price was right, and it’s not too bad. I’ve seen MUCH worse….stayed in a few too.
Why am I sitting in a hotel room instead of blowing the Mr’s money down in the casino? Cuz I’m flippin’ tired, that’s why! It’s a 7 hour drive from Podunk to here. Sheesh!
One plus at having such a long drive – listening to books on cd. I’m halfway through Atlas Shrugs. Yes, I did start reading the actual book, but the thing was so bloomin’ big and heavy, my itty bitty hands couldn’t handle it.

This video is more than a year old, but as we’ve learned in the past year, Obama and his minions will stop at nothing to gain complete control of our lives, and this country.

WE, The People, Have Reached Our Limit!

We have HAD IT … with the politicians running the US government today! To narrow it down, a bit, we are writing, most specifically, about the Socialist-Democrats in Congress and the Socialist-Marxist in the White House.
We, the American people, have been shut out of our own government. Legislation is now made behind closed doors, as our Congresspersons and Senators cut themselves off from the very folks they swore to represent.
Their arrogance and condescension is nauseating. Anyone questioning them is at risk of being made a fool of, in public, before his friends and neighbors. How DARE we question our “betters?”
They blatantly go against the will of the American people by passing laws that are flat-out against the American will.
They refuse to defend the country from those stealing across its borders to take up residence, illegally, and begin sucking up every dollar possible from the people’s treasury, which is administered by the same socialist-democrats who then swear they are doing everything they can do to secure the border. That, dear reader is a LIE!
I use to really enjoy sitting down at my computer every morning, checking out the current news, making comments on what I saw as worth the effort or sharing opinions. These days, I find it difficult because my thought mostly are comprised of four lettered words that are not normally part of my vocabulary. I’m not typically a negative, angry person. I have, unfortunately, become one. I don’t like it!
J.D. has put into words what a large number of us are thinking, feeling, and saying, without the four lettered words. He has more discipline than I do, that’s for sure!
Day by Day, bill by 3000 page bill, we are seeing the destruction of our nation, socially, economically, and now, ecologically. Our patience is at an end!
Note to Congress: YOU work for US, not the other way around! YOU are OUR ‘public servants’, we are NOT your slaves. Nor will we submit to your whims! You truly have “awakened a sleeping giant”!

This Sunday, our nation will celebrate Independence Day, which commemorates the Continental Congress’ adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration preamble reads: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” The fact that we as a nation came together every year to celebrate this document might lead many Americans to believe that a Supreme Court Justice should take the Declaration of Independence into account when they are interpreting the Constitution. Elena Kagan is not one of those Americans. Under questioning from Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK) yesterday, Kagan admitted: “To be honest with you, I don’t have a view of what are natural rights independent of the Constitution.”
