An Ol' Broad's Ramblings
Archive for August 2010
I came across a rather interesting op-ed this afternoon. As I started reading, the thought crossed my mind, the author must be nuts. The further I got into the piece, the more I realize….this is sarcasm! Yeah…occasionally, I’m a little slow. Here’s just a smidge:
First of all, I found that the most important Islamic contribution to the world was the number zero. That’s right. Zero. Like in nothing, nada, gurnisht, kloom. But I did not give up there.
I did find that since Islam’s appearance 1400-years-ago and the ‘zero’ contribution of that time, there are other great Islamic achievements and inventions which greatly benefit the world. These are accomplishments for which we must thank Islam and thus not allow Islamophobia to take further root in our everyday life.
Where shall I begin? There are so many, I’d be remiss if I left any out. Therefore, I apologize profusely in advance if I inadvertently forget to mention an accomplishment or invention or achievement. I hope the Moslem world will forgive me.
Islam has given the world the beautiful scenes of beheadings. How breathtaking are those pictures of Islamists chanting and invoking the name of Allah while they cut the throats of captured and kidnapped newsmen, engineers and nuns! I just wonder why they always cover their faces? Don’t they want Allah to recognize them in the near future when they come for their reward?
Islam has also given us the great power of speech with which to set afire the human imagination. The fact that every pulpit from which an inspiring Moslem preaches, invokes the need to kill and destroy and to kill and annihilate and to kill some more is not a valid reason to fear Islam. Give Islam a break.
Just because children are taught to hate and to despise and to kill all those who reject Islam is a reason to spread Islamophobia throughout the world?
And if tens of thousands of innocent civilians have been murdered in the name of Islam’s Allah? And if the thirst for blood is infused into the veins of Moslem infants with their mother’s milk? Why are we so harsh to judge Moslem mothers who willingly and happily strap suicide belts to their children’s waists and cheerfully send them out to kill and murder unsuspecting innocents on buses, in shopping malls, restaurants and students in schools? Islamophobia. That’s the reason!
Ah yes. The gifts of Islam. Read the entire piece.
For the record……
I know….it’s an old one, but hey…
Shared by Mr Ol’ Broad.
And in no particular order.
After banging my head against the wall trying to find the cord to transfer the pictures, I found it……IN MY SUITCASE! Which, of course, meant I had it with me the entire trip. sigh… Ever feel like pulling your hair out? Oh, and I swiped some of the pictures from Chris, cuz, well, she actually TOOK more.
So, here we are, at Drinking Right….The Lakefront Edition. There were not as many folks there this year, because, Chris, in her infinite wisdom, didn’t invite as many. Honestly, it made it a LOT easier to carry on a conversation.
I wasn’t going to point out the idiocy of this fool again, but after being greeted by this on my arrival home, I just had to!
Heh nigger, this punk rock aint my cup-of-tea. How about deleting all references to me on here.
With lawful regards.
Now, ain’t that somthin’?
Hey….IDIOT! If you don’t want me pointing out what an ignorant piece of trash you are, on a regular basis, just don’t come here, and leave garbage comments like this, ok? It’s REAL simple!
I guess some folks just don’t have enough sense to pour piss out of a boot! *shakes head*
Sometimes, it’s fairly easy to confuse me. I’m old, and that just happens. :P But in this case, my confusion is based on some of the criticism of the Restore Honor event, held on Saturday. I’ve come to expect such criticisms from the left. When you don’t watch, or listen, to the man, take much of what he says out of context, without the foundations, it’s not surprising that the ‘progressive’ media, leftist bloggers, and poverty pimps to use his words to condemn him, and those who agree with the majority of what he says.
However, when some on the right, people whose opinions I respect, condemn this rally, and Glenn Beck in general, I’m totally confused. All I can figure is that they neither watch, nor listen to Glenn. This whole rally was NOT about him. Watch it for yourself. It was not a rich, white gathering, filled with racism, and hatred. It was about God, and the fact we have turned our face away from our Creator. We aren’t in charge, we never have been, we never will be. When man thinks he can do it all by himself, THAT’S when things start falling apart. We see evidence of it on a daily basis. Everywhere we look, people we interact with in our daily business, the ‘entertainment’ we use as diversion from everyday life, the schools our children attend, all point to a NEED in this nation. A need to return to our foundings, giving ALL Glory to God!
I watch Beck on a regular basis. I post his shows for those who didn’t get to, and have been thanked for doing so. The education I have gotten about our history has been vast. Much I knew, because I’m old, and they hadn’t removed it all from the books back then, but much was new to me, and I did further research on my own, and found a great deal of what he has said to be accurate.
By removing God from our lives, we’ve removed shame. By removing shame, we’ve created a nation based on lies, deceit, and the murder of innocents. If you want to know “what happened”, look to the ‘progressives’. Nothing they have done has progressed our nation forward. No, what they have achieved is a major tumbling backwards into hedonism, rather like Rome before it’s fall.
God says what He means, and means what He says! Unless we come to that realization, and soon, we will be like the Roman Empire, relegated to the annals of history. These so called churches, that preach progressivism, distort the Teachings of Christ to fit THEIR wants and needs. No one, and I do mean NO ONE, who confessed Christ as their Savior could so easily destroy the life of an innocent child, condone sin, or accept the destruction of a nation, built to greatness, on Judeo-Christian values, by the Grace of God!
I have yet to meet the perfect man (or woman) in my life. I’m far from perfect, and will never claim to be. We strive to walk with Christ, and often fail miserably. Does that mean we should just give up? Allow the hateful bitterness of the left to continue us on our path of destruction? NO! Glenn Beck is doing his best to give us our history back, with all it’s warts and rainbows. I don’t agree with all his opinions. I tend to think for myself. But the man is dead on when he says “we cannot co-exist with evil”.
It doesn’t matter where you fall on your knees, just fall! We all need forgiveness for our arrogance! We need to pray for the current so called leaders of this nation, that they will see the Light, and hit the ground. If they don’t, and if we continue on the current path, we will surely see the destruction of a once great nation.
Give your trust to the Lord, fear Him, for HE, alone, is the Final Judge!
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Life isn’t about politics, or the foolishness of our ‘leaders’. Our purpose is not to continuously rant on the evils of those who would destroy us (though the rants will continue). Our purpose is to serve God! All Honor, and Glory, is due Him, and Him alone!
Just wanted to share some of my favorite songs. I’ve got a REAL long list, but will spare y’all for now. :) Some folks think I listen to nothing but talk radio and watch Fox News. Not true. I rarely listen to talk, and don’t even turn on the idjit box until I’ve been up for quite a while. What do I listen to when I’m in the car? Well, stuff like this. These are just a few of my very favorite. Why am I posting ‘em? Well, because I want to, and I can!
Perhaps this is why I’m not so angry anymore? :) There are a LOT more, but I think I’m finally relaxed enough now to go to sleep. Word to the wise…..no matter how hungry you are, a chili cheese dog, with mustard and onions is NOT a good late ‘meal’. Where’s the Maalox!
And this is what I call my happy song. Yeah…I sing it, when no one is around, when I’m in an especially good mood.
I wonder if I could get the Mr to sing this one when I kick the bucket, hit the dirt, push up daisies….etc.
Truth be told, I do believe he’d sound better than Ralph Stanley.
Whew! What a LONG day. Got a late start because, well, I don’t do mornings, and it was way too much fun to sit and chat while ingesting tasty caffeine! Remind me next time that this is construction season in Yankeeland!!! SHEESH! And the mental giants behind the numerous steering wheels of large vehicles should ALL be sent back to driving school. The geniuses driving those itty bitty tin cans should be taken off the road completely! How difficult is it to move out the lane that is announced as CLOSED as much as 2 miles ahead of time, with numerous reminders. Why do people wait until the barrier is smack dab in front of them? And when did that “one car length per 10mph” rule go by the wayside? If I want your headlights up my hind end, I will let you know!
A couple of “bright” spots though. I saw about 8 parachutes coming down as I left the Kenosha area, which begs the question….. “Why would anyone jump out of a perfectly good airplane?” I tried to get a picture, but when I looked at it, there was nothing but blue.
Halfway through Illinois, once I got past MOST of the construction areas, the temperature dropped from 95 to 72 in a matter of 30 minutes. Dark skies ahead.
It rained just long enough, and hard enough, to make sure all the little buggy carcasses got smeared from side to side….REAL well! Believe it not, it’s real hard to see through those nasty little suckers. This ol’ bat’s sonar is on the fritz!
Tomorrow will be an easy day! Thank goodness.
A HUGE thank you to Chris for her gracious hospitality. Oh yeah…and Jamie too! Even if he did call me a mule! Frequently! Moi????? HUMPH!
Still waiting on some of the other pics! *tapping toes……CHRIS!*
Yesterday was soooooooooooooo much fun! Good food, good people, great conversation. One problem. I forgot to bring the cord to transfer pictures from my camera. So, the only pictures I have right now, are the few that would send from my occasionally functional phone.
Gonna get more from others…..eventually…..but for now, this is it!
And that’s all I have…..for the moment! There will be more later, but right now, I need more coffee, and get it in gear, so I can make the looooooooooooooooong drive home!
Since I’ve been out of touch with my computer, or visa versa, I apologize to Robert, for not getting Beck up so you could watch at work. I shall now rectify that lack.
Friday 8/27/10 (different video poster)
No, I haven’t dropped of the planet. I haven’t died. Everyone is healthy. I’m just not home. Couldn’t get online last night or this morning because my browser copped an attitude and wouldn’t open. Obviously, no browser, no posting.
Right now, I’m sitting in Chris‘ family room, watching Frank and Chris make nice with a stray cat. Don’t think it’s so stray anymore….it’s in the dining room. :? In Wisconsin.
Odds are, I won’t be doing much posting until I get back home, Monday evening. Then again…ya never know. Might have some ‘blackmail’ pics tomorrow evening.
Liberalism is Failing
On Tuesday, the National Association of Realtors reported that July sales of existing homes fell by 27% from June of this year and by 25.5% compared to July 2009. This annual sales rate of 3.83 million homes was the lowest since NAR began keeping track of sales in 1999. Then yesterday, the Commerce Department reported that July sales of new homes fell 12.4% from June and by 32.4% compared to July 2009. This annual rate of 276,000 new units sold is the lowest since 1963, when government records were first kept. The source of the plunge is no secret: July’s numbers reflect the first month when existing home sales received no boost from the home buyer tax credit.
…..and I’m just in one of those kinds of moods.
Snatched from a FB ‘friend’.
Have you read this? Whoever wrote it doesn’t have the basic knowledge that I did in the 4th grade when it comes to the U.S. Constitution and our history, or what our foundation is based on.
And while you’re reading, check this out as well, for a bit of info.
ADDED: Washington Times has a pretty good run down.
