Bredesen: $3.8M awarded in litter grants
As part of the StopLitter effort in Tennessee, Gov. Phil Bredesen and TDOT Commissioner Gerald Nicely recently awarded $3,862,515 in litter grant funds to all 95 counties in Tennessee, according to a news release.
“Each year, volunteers pick up almost 25 million pounds of roadside litter in Tennessee alone,” Bredesen said in the release.
“Litter is an eyesore, it’s costly to clean up and it can be harmful to our environment, but it’s totally preventable. These funds will be used by counties across the state to organize their pick-up efforts and conduct educational campaigns to teach children and adults about the importance of keeping Tennessee beautiful.”
I have a better idea. Every county has a jail. Every jail has prisoners. We pay for the housing and feeding of said prisoners. Instead of paying people to clean up the garbage that so many morons insist on tossing out on the side of the road, why not utilize the warm bodies we are already paying for? Make them earn their keep! Use that $3.8 million for something actually useful, like small business loans, something that will actually CREATE REAL JOBS!

I can’t even think of appropriate words! Is it any wonder at all that the criminals (aka ILLEGALS) residing in our country have NO respect for our laws? Our officials don’t even respect them, why should anyone else? For that matter, why should I? Or you? Since no one wants to enforce the law, why not just let anarchy reign? Why bother to follow the rules? No one cares!
