The Fence
(Been around for a while, but should be pointed out frequently.)
If you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on, this is a great test!
If a Republican doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a Democrat doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.
If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.
If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.
If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A Democrat wonders who is going to take care of him.
If a Republican doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Democrats demand that those they don’t like be shut down.
If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.
If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A Democrat demands that the rest of us pay for his.
If a Republican reads this, he’ll forward it so his friends know how to vote in November!
A Democrat will delete it because he’s “offended”.
Well, I forwarded it.
Thanks Connie, I think I forwarded it too!

Marsha VS Greg
I came across a letter to the editor in our local fish wrap this morning that has me rather disturbed. Since their site is basically useless for sharing information with others, and to link back to, I won’t. The paper comes out on Thursday, so this is a couple of days late.
In part, the letter states:
The Tennessean reported last Friday that Dr. Rabidoux, Marsha’s Democratic challenger, and a team of voulnteers went to Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn’s office in Franklin to hand deliver a letter asking her for at least one debate. her staff refused to accept the letter.
The Rabidoux team then drove to Blackburn’s campaign office seven minutes away. Evidently, the congressional office had tipped off the campaign office because the two staff members who had been there earlier were gone, the doors were locked, and the light were out – locked tight as a drum during hours of operation. Does she have something to hide?
Dr. Rabidoux then sent the letter by registered mail with a request for signature upon receipt. In his letter he asked Mrs. Blackburn to respond to the debate invitation by August 16. We shall see what happens. I will keep you apprised.
It was signed by James Pride of Savannah.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I like Marsha, but this really bothers me. She’s not perfect, but she is conservative. She’s had to make some tough votes that had all kinds of garbage thrown in that had nothing to do with the original bill. You know, the typical billions of bucks for one thing, with billions more thrown in that is totally unrelated. I really wish there was a way we could make THAT illegal! One issue, one bill. You want to build a bike path in your district, make it a separate bill!
This issue is very reminiscent of Cohen, whose ego won’t let him debate Charlotte Bergmann.
He dismisses his general election opponent, who won the Republican nomination Thursday, as misguided and irrelevant. “Neither she nor Sidney Chism understand the African-American voter. If she understood (them), she wouldn’t be running on an extreme, right-wing, tea party platform that works totally against the interests of the African-American community.”
Au contraire! Who knows more about the needs of the African American community than an African American? What an idiot that man is! Anything to keep the Democrat ‘plantation’ going, eh? Also proving he knows nothing about the TEA Party movement other than what he hears on PMSNBC. Wanting our ‘elected government’ to follow the rules set forth in our Constitution is extreme? Talk about out of touch!
So, why won’t Marsha debate Rabidoux? Does she believe, as does Cohen, that her opponent isn’t worth her time? A column I found this morning from The Leaf Chronicle confirms that she missed the deadline of his request.
In a prepared statement responding to the request for comments about the debate, Blackburn’s campaign said she wouldn’t have anything to do with Rabidoux because he might vote for Nancy Pelosi as House speaker.
“Tennesseans know that to stop out of control spending and the exploding debt, we have to fire Nancy Pelosi,” the statement reads. “They aren’t interested in any candidate who would give her one more vote for the speaker’s chair, and neither is Marsha. Instead, Marsha is working as a conservative leader across the state and across the nation to make sure Americans reclaim their government for the next generation.”
Ok, sure, Rabidoux probably would vote in line with Pelosi, Queen of the Moonbats and socialist extraordinaire, but that doesn’t mean a debate is out of line. Let people make up their own minds! Give them the opportunity to compare the two candidates. Isn’t that what they suppose to do? Sure, Marsha is probably a shoe in, but that doesn’t mean she is above it all. Arrogance is not a good way to get the people on your side. Independents just might be turned off too.
The behavior of her staff is equally disturbing! Were they instructed by the top folks not to even talk to Rabidoux? This doesn’t make any sense. When it’s typically the Democrats who show rudeness and arrogance, this is no time to behave like them!
Honestly, it doesn’t matter to me, one way or the other, if they hold a debate, odds are Rabidoux won’t change my mind. I am interested in learning more about his stand on the issues. However, I’m less inclined to cast my vote for Marsha if she is going to act like Cohen. We are fed up with arrogant politicians, no matter how good they are at their job, no matter what initial they put behind their name! Marsha is one of the good guys. I wish she’d show it! Refusing to debate because her opponent MIGHT vote for/with Pelosi is no excuse.

Worth Reading
Got this in an email recently. I’m fairly sure it’s made the rounds, but it never hurts to remind folks. I think it was published in June of this year, in the Iosco County News Herald.

A Little Truth In Humor?
I was going to get a building permit for a new house. It was going to be 100 ft tall and 400 ft wide with 9 gun turrets at various heights and windows all over the place and a loud outside entertainment sound system.
It would have parking for 200 cars and I was going to paint it snot green with pink trim.
The City Council told me to forget it … AIN’T GONNA HAPPEN!
So I sent in the application again, but this time I called it a Mosque.
Work starts on Monday.

Conservative song costs coach his job
A Tennessee middle school football coach is looking to the future after his termination for alleged political incorrectness.
Another casualty to the fecklessness running rampant.
Twenty-six-year-old Bryan Glover is a Christian who co-wrote a song called “When You’re Holding a Hammer, Everything Looks Like a Nail,” which takes a dig at the current administration and what he believes to be the wrong moves for the U.S. He sent a link to his song to everyone in his personal e-mail inbox, which included parents from Grassland Middle School, where he coached football.
If you are a lockstep liberal, it’s ok to spout lies, beat the drum of indoctrination. But, if you disagree with the current administration, then you don’t have a right to express your opinion.

Like Catfish?
During the four weeks leading up to this weekend’s World Championship of Catfishing, anglers have been fishing from the Tennessee River competing in the Catfish Derby to land the biggest catfish each week.
I don’t know about you, but when I hear the word “derby”, I think some sort of race or sport. Kentucky Derby – horses…roller derby – fools on roller skates, that kind of thing. Oh, and we mustn’t forget the derby hat.
But I would never have associated fish with a derby.
Can’t you just see someone raising the rail….”and OFF they go!”
But the stakes are about to be raised when the National Catfish Derby World Championship of Catfishing begins at 6 a.m. Aug. 21. Scales open at 8 a.m. and the winner determining weigh-in takes place at 3 p.m.
I’ve seen some big catfish in my lifetime, so I reckon there could be some whoppers.
This year over $14,000 in cash prizes will be given away. The winning team is awarded $5,000. The best weigh-in by a woman angler is given the lady angler award and $250.
The seniors award and $250 is given to a competitor 65 years of age or older with the best catfish weigh-in. The best weigh-in for a competitor 17 years of age or younger will be given the youth award and $250.
Ok. Wait just a cotton pickin’ minute! Why do the ladies only rate $250? What if some lady pulls in the biggest butt ugly fish of the whole tournament? Shouldn’t SHE rate the big prize? Ok ok ok. I know how it works. Just strikes me as sexist. Heh.
The tournament is open to everyone. Participants can pre-register for the tournament from 3-9 p.m. Aug. 20 at Pickwick Landing State Park.
Entry forms and payment may also be dropped off at Team Hardin County. The number there is (731) 925-8181. Further information is available at Ken Freeman Outdoors by calling (731) 234-1888.
So, if you’re into sitting and watching the water go by, with some fancy string hanging off the end of a pole, ya oughta come check out the Derby. Will I be there? Are you nuts? I hate fish!

Recovery?
New Jobless Benefits Claims Leap to 500,000, Highest Since November
New applications for unemployment insurance reached the half-million mark last week for the first time since November, a sign that employers are cutting jobs again as the recovery slows.
The Labor Department says initial claims for jobless benefits rose by 12,000 last week to 500,000, the fourth increase in the past five weeks. Wall Street economists forecast that claims would drop.
About that ‘Summer of Recovery”……. HOGWASH! When the job losses outnumber the job gains, personally, I don’t really see that as a recovery. Oh yeah….the government is growing, by leaps and bounds, but that isn’t REAL recovery. Time to change tactics, because what y’all are doing up there in The Swamp is NOT WORKING!
