Progressives’ racism knows no bounds
by Erik Rush

I don’t normally go out of my way to call attention to the products of dubious journalism, lest they receive unmerited attention, but occasionally exceptions have to be made. “Anchor babies, the Ground Zero mosque and other scapegoats,” penned by Matthew Yglesias and published on Aug. 8 by the Washington Post, is a quintessential example of Orwellian Ministry of Propaganda fare, so surreal in its assumptions that it its absurdity is scarcely to be believed, especially to those who do their level best to avoid the Post altogether. It is also a prime example of the composition of progressive racial orthodoxy, which is illustrated very effectively and at several junctures in this piece.

It definitely bears mentioning that Matthew Yglesias is a fellow at the Center for American Progress, which is, for all practical purposes, a Marxist think tank and the current headquarters of avowed communist and former Obama czar Van Jones. This speaks veritable volumes to the subversive, anti-American bent of the publication; no other conclusion can reasonably be drawn.

Progressives wear their cravenness, arrogance and conceit as unconsciously as someone with a giant nose goblin they have yet to detect clinging to their upper lip. The patronizing, imperious mien employed by intellectual elites (and shamelessly evidenced in Yglesias’ piece) in the face of manifestly juvenile, inane logic would inspire uproarious laughter were it not for the fact that the aforementioned intellectual elites have had such success in swaying public opinion across the board.

Read the rest here.  Well, worth reading.

I’ve never understood why these people are called “intellectual”.  How come anyone who is so ignorant of reality be intellectual?

Why does this verse bring to mind the Obama administration?

Ann on Bell’s Democrats

Let’s play ‘spot the Democrat’!
by Ann Coulter

In the greatest party-affiliation cover-up since the media tried to portray Gary Condit as a Republican, the media are refusing to mention the party affiliation of the thieving government officials in Bell, Calif.

There have been hundreds of news stories about Bell city officials’ jaw-dropping salaries. In this poor city on the outskirts of Los Angeles, where the per capita annual income is $24,800 a year, the city manager, Robert Rizzo, had a salary of $787,637.

That’s about twice what the president of the United States makes. (To be fair, Rizzo was doing a better job.)

Summer of Bailouts
The Foundry

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs did not give the White House daily press briefing yesterday. The stated excuse was a bad cough. But there was no mention of any flu-like symptoms when The Hill reported yesterday that Gibbs believes the “professional left” should be “drug tested” since they will only be satisfied “when we have Canadian health care and we’ve eliminated the Pentagon.” After an outpouring of leftist protests over the article, including a call from Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) that he resign, Gibbs walked back his criticism, releasing a statement explaining: “Day after day it gets frustrating. Yesterday I watched as someone called legislation to prevent teacher layoffs a bailout – but I know that’s not a view held by many.”

Oh how wrong Gibbs is. “Bailout” is the only word that can accurately describe the $26.1 billion legislation that the House approved on a largely party line vote yesterday. Let’s break down the bill’s main provisions:

Pfft!

From USA Today:

Public employee unions say the compensation gap reflects the increasingly high level of skill and education required for most federal jobs and the government contracting out lower-paid jobs to the private sector in recent years.

Skilled?  Seriously? Then why do so many government workers SUCK at their job?

The term “Federal civil servants” is a misnomer! A large number are not civil, and they have decided WE are the servants.  You make over 80K a year?  YOU pay for your own insurance and retirement out of YOUR salary!   Ever heard of a savings account?  You don’t need my money!  And guess what!  When there is no more private sector, there are no more fat paychecks for YOU!  To put it in the most simplest terms possible, the government has NO money.  They take it from people who work for a living, to give it to those who don’t.

Tolerating Evil

11 August 2010, 9:56 am. 2 Comments. Filed under 1st Amendment, Middle East, Opinion, Religion of Pieces, Taxes.

An L.A. Times editorial caught my eye this morning:

‘Ground zero mosque’ should go forward

In particular, this sentence leaped out:

This page has supported construction of the center, whose name, Cordoba House, is taken from the Spanish city that stood for interfaith tolerance in the Middle Ages and whose stated mission is “promoting positive interaction between the Muslim world and the West.”

Does this author actually know anything about Muslim ‘tolerance’? What tolerance translates to in the Muslim world is basically a form of slavery.

He [Bernard Lewis] argues that Islam traditionally did not offer equality nor even pretended that it did, arguing that it would have been both a “theological as well as a logical absurdity.” (source)

Political correctness already has us figuratively bowing to Islam. How much longer until we are FORCED to bow physically?

In the Muslim community, the holy war is a religious duty, because of the universalism of the Muslim mission and (the obligation to) convert everybody to Islam either by persuasion or by force. Therefore, caliphate and royal authority are united in Islam, so that the person in charge can devote the available strength to both of them at the same time. The Muqaddimah: An Introduction to History by Ibn Khaldun – “Muslim scholar (1332-1406) represented in the west as a moderate and even a liberal.”

THIS is the type of tolerance we should adhere to? I don’t think so!

The 9/11 murderers did not hijack the ‘religion’. They were following said ‘religion’s’ dictates. For anyone to support the building of this, or ANY, so called center for tolerance and understanding is beyond comprehension.  We were a nation built on Judeo-Christian values.  When did we lose those values?  Yes, we are granted the rights of freedom of religion, not just by the U.S. Constitution, but also by God.  He has given us free will to choose right from wrong.  What is wrong is glorifying a murderous pedophile cult by allowing a ‘culture center’ to be built anywhere near the site of the slaughter of innocent men, women, and children.

The 1st Amendment states:   Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech…

It is in my opinion, the U.S. State Department is violating the Amendment by using taxpayer money for “an outreach program” by sending “Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, the man spearheading the Ground Zero Mosque initiative.” (source)

Is the U.S. Government now establishing a religion? Will they also send a Christian minister, or a Jewish rabbi along with the imam? No, I didn’t think so! This is no more than a fund raising trip, paid for by you and me. ‘An “established religion” in America by 1789 was that an established denomination was supported by mandatory taxes…’ (source) Our mandatory taxes being used in such a manner, to me, is in CLEAR violation.

We can’t have a Nativity scene in a public place, but the State Department uses our money to promote Islam? It has been obvious for quite some time this administration could care less about the U.S. Constitution.

US troops killed in Afghan prison

A prisoner in southern Afghanistan has killed two US Marines after escaping a prayer room and grabbing a rifle, Nato has said.

Troops shot and killed the prisoner afterwards on Saturday.

“The prisoner escaped a room where he was observing prayer time, acquired a rifle and subsequently engaged Afghan and coalition forces. The Marines were killed while trying to subdue the prisoner,” Nato said in a statement on Monday.

I guess if more Americans knew about incidents like this, they, too, wouldn’t mind seeing that whole pig pen turned into glass.

A Few Items In The News

You know full well, if this was a Republican, there would be outrage in the streets.  But since he’s not, there seems to be little concern there’s a thief in Congress.  Oh…wait a minute.  Silly me!  EVERYONE knows there are a LOT of thieves up there in The Swamp.

The vast majority of police officers are honorable.  It’s a shame there are a few, who we expect to protect us, turn into utter scum.  Perhaps they were always scum, and just decided to bilk the public, dishonoring the uniform.

I’m sure you’ve heard about the plain crash that killed former U.S. Senator, Ted Stevens.  I’m sorry his family and state lost him, but I haven’t found any info about the others who were also killed.  Prayers with them all.

If someone was consistently lobbing bombs into my backyard, I don’t think I’d be inclined to sit down and have a chat, I don’t care WHO wants it.

Is there anyone in the Obama administration that doesn’t have some ‘questionable‘ ties?

Isn’t Chicago a ‘gun-free zone’?  As you know, I’m a BIG time 2nd Amendment supporter, but even I know you do NOT leave guns laying around the house when there are children present!

You’d think cutting spending, or at least not increasing it, would be a good thing.  Evidently not!

The “I want it, and I WANT IT NOW!” mindset is way too prevalent.  Criminy…grow up!

Even though it’s extremely sad people have died from the heat, the Mid-South hasn’t broken too many records.

This isn’t surprising at all.  For some reason, people just don’t know how to drive.  Don’t they teach driver’s ed anymore?   If I was the conspiracy theory sort, I might think this was a concerted effort by U.S. automaker union types.  :?

I rather like Frivolous Act of Ineffective Largesse (FAIL) Act myself.

No one should be forced to buy anything, by anyone!  Especially when it supports the murder of the unborn!

Spectacular Perseid Meteor Shower Due Wednesday

Every August, just when many people go vacationing in the country where skies are dark, the best-known meteor shower — the Perseid meteor shower — makes its appearance.

The “shooting stars” promise to deliver an excellent show this year to anyone with clear and dark skies away from urban and suburban lights.

The best time to watch for meteors will be from the late-night hours of Wednesday, Aug, 11 on through the predawn hours of Aug. 13 – two full nights and early mornings. Patient skywatchers with good conditions could see up to 60 shooting stars an hour or more.

I can guaran-damn-tee it will be cloudy around here….again! We want to check out the sky, we’ve got major cloud cover. :?

OUR Money

Aid bill could save 3,000-plus teaching jobs in TN

The U.S. House is expected to pass a $26 billion aid package today that would send Tennessee $239 million for Medicaid and $194 million for teacher salaries — money that could save teaching jobs in the state.

Unlike in other states, Tennessee’s state budget woes have not led to teacher layoffs. But early numbers suggest the funds could make quite a difference if Tennessee’s budget situation gets worse. Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam, the Republican gubernatorial nominee, estimated after last week’s primary election that Tennessee would face a $1 billion budget deficit.

So, let me get this straight. Tennessee is one of the few states that has not had to lay off teachers, yet she’s taking money to save jobs that aren’t in danger of being lost?

We already know that when it comes to spending other people’s money, this Congress has NO problem.  They are REAL good at spending it where it’s not needed.  Just thinking off the top of my head, wouldn’t it make a whole lot more sense if the people of a state send there tax dollars to said state, where it could be used IN the state, instead of sending it to a bunch of feckless weasels in D.C., who get great joy from controlling the states through their own money?  Somehow, common sense got lost quite a while ago, and IMHO, we need to get it back!

Al Mance, executive director of the Tennessee Education Association, said the National Education Association estimated the additional federal funds would save or add 3,094 teaching positions in the state. The U.S. Department of Education estimated the extra money equated to 3,700 jobs.

What’cha wanna bet that very little of that money will be used for the actual STUDENTS? Instead, it will more than likely go for teacher benefits, like….viagra!  Ok, not fair.  Tennessee is a ‘right to work’ state.  NO ONE has to join a union in order to gain employment.  THIS is a good thing!

I’m real strong on folks earning a living.  Teachers have a hard job, especially considering that a great many parents have abdicated their job of parenting to the schools.  Respect has become an archaic word when it comes to public education.  Well, the teachers HAVE to respect the students, but it isn’t necessarily reciprocated.

I’m going to TRY to refrain going off on a tangent about the current state of public education, nation wide.  Suffice it to say, a states that are strong on unions, promote the party propaganda the most.  REAL education isn’t even in the running, coming in last.  The socialist agenda comes in at #1.

Nashville-area districts are still waiting to see how much money they will get if the bill is approved. Most haven’t said how they would spend the money.

“We’re waiting for the details to trickle down to our level,” said James Evans, spokesman for Rutherford County schools.

How about books? Maybe supplies for the younger students, like 1st and 2nd grade? Desks? I wouldn’t think it would be such a complicated issue. Student needs for actual learning SHOULD come in top of ANY list. Do all the schools in the state have the necessary textbooks? How many of the poorer districts’ kids have to share book? Do the students have the necessary tools for science classes? I would think these types of things would be looked at before making any decisions.

U.S. students have fallen far behind in competing with the rest of the world.  At one time, education of kids was a top priority.  They actually learned!  Now?  It’s all about the Benjamins, and what the unions can suck out of the taxpayer.  There are some excellent teachers out there, and I don’t mean to lump them in with the ‘leadership’, BUT…..if the teachers themselves don’t stand up for the students…..

Under Obamanomics, Government Workers Win, You Lose
The Foundry

Today the House of Representatives is expected to approve yet another bailout for those states that have proved incapable of controlling their spending on government worker pay, benefits and pensions. The $26.1 billion price tag will be funded in part by $11 billion in tax hikes on U.S. companies that compete internationally. From his trillion dollar economic stimulus to his $3 trillion tax hike it has become clear that President Barack Obama views the private sector the same way the Huns viewed a city – as something to be sacked and plundered for the benefit of public sector workers.

Lebanon: $100m. US aid suspension is unwarranted

An adviser to the Lebanese prime minister said Tuesday that the suspension of $100 million in US aid to the Lebanese Armed Forces was unwarranted and weakens the nation’s effort to build the country’s army.

The chairman of the US House Foreign Affairs Committee said Monday that he withheld the funds to the LAF over concerns that the Iranian-backed militant group Hizbullah may have influence over the army.

Mohamed Chatah, an adviser to Western-backed Prime Minister Saad Hariri, said Tuesday that the Lebanese forces are reliable. He said any “friend of Lebanon” should not take steps that would hurt efforts to build up the army.

Excuse me for asking an obvious question, but just why the hell is the U.S. giving money to Lebanon? This is OUR money. It should be used in OUR country. I wonder how far that $100MIL would go to securing our borders? No offense to anyone, but until we get our own ducks in a row, and hopefully scratch and claw our way out of the mess the Democrats have put us in, should we really be sending billions of taxpayer dollars to other countries, especially those that don’t much like us?
