Whew! What a Week!

6 August 2010, 3:40 pm. 6 Comments. Filed under Friends & Family.

And I’m darn glad it’s over!  Well, technically, it’s not, but that bad part seems to be!  Ok, granted most of it is an extreme blur, but consider the circumstances, ok?  :P

The Mr is now on his way home!  Why am I not doing the driving?  Well, because I was waiting to find out if he was going to be released today, and around what time.  It didn’t make any sense for me to drive all the way to Jackson, wait around, no word, drive home, then get the call to come back to pick him up.  The rate they were going, I was expecting him to be trapped until Monday.  :?   Well, it turns out that they gave him word he could go home while my pastor was visiting him, so that WONDERFUL man volunteered to hang around and drive him home.  I’d love to be a fly on THAT wall.  :D

He’s suppose to take shots in his stomach, for a max of 2 weeks, PLUS take the ‘rat poison’.  NO!  I am NOT going to be giving him the shots.  I love him, but there are some things I dread, like giving someone a shot!  I can handle a lot of things, but that’s not one of ‘em.  Yeah…I’m a wuss!  I freely admit it!

He’s got to go in to get those levels checked on Monday, shift stuff if need be, or whatever they insist he do to continue his recovery.

Needless to say, I am EXTREMELY grateful for all the prayers sent our way!  They have meant more than I will ever be able to express!

Tennessee Primaries

.Haslam claims GOP nomination for Governor

Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam withstood relentless attacks from his rivals to claim Tennessee’s Republican gubernatorial nomination on Thursday.

Haslam had the dominant fundraising advantage in the race against U.S. Rep. Zach Wamp and state Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey, and poured in at least $1.5 million of his own money in the closing weeks of the race.

To say I’m disappointed by Ramsey’s poor showing, would be an understatement.  However, Haslam was my (DISTANT) second choice, so I can’t get all bent out of shape.  We are never going to have a perfect candidate.  Why?  Because the candidates are people too, and not a one of us is perfect.  I’m actually wondering how many Democrats asked for the Republican ballot?  :?

In the over all picture for Tennessee, Tea Party candidates didn’t fair too well, although there were a few victories.  This should dispel the rumor that Tea Partiers are rich.  The “money” candidates did a lot better, even though they had fewer endorsements.  Somehow, that money issue always comes out on top, for good or ill.

One of the entertaining races was in the Memphis area, TN 9th district.  Long time Memphis Mayor, “King” Willie Herenton got his ass handed to him on a platter in the Democrat primary.  Not that I want Cohen to retain the seat, but it was amusing to watch Willie digging his own political grave with a lot of the ignorant remarks he made.  Not to mention, his record as mayor was abysmal.  Unfortunately, Charlotte Bergmann, the lovely CONSERVATIVE lady who won the GOP primary, has gotten little to no attention at all.

Marsha Blackburn had no opponent in the primary, so that’s a no brainer.

Closer to home: I have no idea if Ashley won or lost, as all I can find is just the Hardin County vote.  Last count I saw had her down by 17.  Jim Davis came a close second to the current sheriff, Sammy Davidson, but just couldn’t get over that hurdle.  Kevin Davis is still the county mayor.  Since, Vance didn’t have an opponent, he could have won with one vote. LOL And honestly, I have no idea who most of the rest of the people are, or what they do.

One bright spot in my morning – Brother Gary Vickery was victorious in his bid for school board! Heaven knows, we need to get more Christians involved in our children’s education, and he is definitely, one of the good guys!

On the Democrat side: there were no contested races, and most had the field all to themselves. It’ll be Haslam V McWherter for governor. I know nothing about this guy, other than he’s a Dem. And I seriously doubt, considering today’s political atmosphere, he’s as ‘moderate’ as Bredesen. But who knows….I’ll have to do some checking.

For the state Rep seat (71st), there were 24 write-ins. It doesn’t say who was written in, could be Daisy Duck for all I know. :?

TN’s 7th Congressional was a lone candidate too, Greg Rabidoux. I rather doubt he’ll be able to unseat Marsha, but you never know what will happen these days.

Other races I’ve been watching: Looks like Stacey Campfield got the nod for State Senate in Dist 7. Stephen Fincher wins in U.S Dist 8 for John Tanner’s seat. There are a few more, but for the life of me, I can’t think of who they are. LOL

There’s a pretty good run down on The Tennessean.

One thing I’ve found highly interesting and amusing: Republicans sweep all 9 of the contested Shelby County races

Hey! Tennessee!

I hope y’all haven’t forgotten today is Primary Day!  If you didn’t do the early voting, better get your rear in gear and get to the polls today.  LOTS of important races across the state, and your vote DOES count.  At least for now!  Better make use of the right while you still can!

FYI – the Mr cast his ballot early, as did I.  :D

Now, one more cup of coffee and I’ve got to get my hind end back over to Jackson!

Networks Ignore Missouri Voters’ Rejection of ObamaCare, Instead Celebrate Obama’s Birthday

In the first voter referendum on ObamaCare, Missourians on Tuesday overwhelmingly (by 71 to 29 percent) backed Proposition C which called upon the state to enact a statute to “deny the government authority to penalize citizens for refusing to purchase private health insurance,” an outcome the St. Louis Post-Dispatch described as “rebuking President Barack Obama’s administration.” On Wednesday night, however, the ABC, CBS and NBC evening newscasts skipped the bad news for President Obama – yet all found time to celebrate his 49th birthday.

I’m guessing it isn’t occurring to the MSM that the general public perceives them as clowns? Irrelevant? When news of national interest, and importance occurs, the purpose of the media is to report the events. Is this what we’ve been getting from them? No. They are too busy lapping up D’Bama’s excrement.  What USE to be respectable news organizations are nothing more than the Goebbels wing of the White House now.

Ann on Judicial Footnotes

Justice Brennan’s Footnote Gave Us Anchor Babies
by Ann Coulter

Democrats act as if the right to run across the border when you’re 8 1/2 months pregnant, give birth in a U.S. hospital and then immediately start collecting welfare was exactly what our forebears had in mind, a sacred constitutional right, as old as the 14th Amendment itself.

The louder liberals talk about some ancient constitutional right, the surer you should be that it was invented in the last few decades.

In fact, this alleged right derives only from a footnote slyly slipped into a Supreme Court opinion by Justice Brennan in 1982. You might say it snuck in when no one was looking, and now we have to let it stay.

Now, run along.  I’m sure there is someone out there who is interested in your blather.  I am not.

Update 6!

4 August 2010, 2:43 pm. 2 Comments. Filed under Opinion.

Back to semi normal?  Well, maybe….whatever ‘normal’ might be in my case.  :D

Now that the Mr is out of ICU, we both decided it would be ok if I came back home to deal with issues here, like the cats, picking up my prescriptions, getting a decent night’s sleep in my own bed, and a variety of other things.  One important thing would be to get the stuff I completely zoned when I packed his back.  Yeah…I was just a smidge disoriented trying to get stuff together for him.  :P

No one seems to have a clue when he’ll be sprung.  Honestly, I’d rather have him stuck there, where there are people who know how to deal with an emergency situation, just in case, than here with a clueless layperson like me.  I know he’s feeling better, cuz he’s REAL antsy.  LOL   So, maybe by Friday, they’ll remove the rest of tubes and wires, and let come home.

I give all Glory to God!

Update 5!

Snoopy is getting tuckered!  :)

More good news this evening.  They are finally moving the Mr out of ICU into a real room.  He’ll still be trapped, just not with as many wires, tubes and such.  The pressure has been relieved somewhat off his heart, and this is a GOOD thing!

I finally got to talk to one of the doctors.  Is there a new rule that coherent English is optional?  Honestly, I only understood about a third of what the woman said.  SHEESH!

Update 4!

The Mr had the heart cath thing this morning, both sides.  Good news!  He doesn’t need stints, or bypass or any such thing.  His heart is in good shape!

What they are going to do next, I have no idea.  Probably run more tests, keep giving him the ‘rat poison’, and see what’s what.

I need a nap!

Update 3!

2 August 2010, 3:29 pm. 6 Comments. Filed under Opinion.

As much as this annoys the Mr, it is just so much easier for me to keep people updated here, than trying to text, email and call everyone.  So, :P to my honey!

Yes, he now has his computer.

I guess I jumped the gun when I said he was doing well because they took the big needle out of his neck this morning.  Turns out the reason they removed it, the meds weren’t working.  Now they are talking caths, stints, and who knows what else.  They speak medical.  I do not.

When they kicked me out, they were wrapping up all the tubes and wires to take him for another scan of some sort.   Needless to say, he is NOT a happy camper.  I think the biggest annoyance is that they won’t let him get out of bed, or even sit up.  I don’t think he can escape!  Gracious sakes!   But I do understand the reasoning, even if it does chap his hide. :D

Right now, I’m sitting in an over sized hotel room.  Why do I need a dining room table for six?  Why does anyone, staying in a hotel need such a thing?  :?   Anyway, I get to go back over to the hospital for the next peep show at 5.  At least they’ve got his blinds closed.  Seems all the other rooms in ICU are fishbowls.

Update 2!

2 August 2010, 8:59 am. 5 Comments. Filed under Friends & Family.

I spoke to the Mr a short time ago.  Evidently, he’s doing well, since they took the huge needle out of his neck this morning.  He’s still in ICU, but perhaps they’ll move him to a regular room later today?

Since he didn’t get much sleep, I’d have to say getting information out of him is a little more difficult than usual.  Imagine pulling teeth from a conscious tiger.  :?   I’ll find out more when I actually get to talk to the doctor.  I hope he can translate from medical to plain English.

Other than that, not much to relate.
