Haven’t really had time to post the Beck videos, but not to worry, I will get it done….probably tomorrow.  Bear with me.  :D

Update:  Seems Fox pulled my source on YouTube.  Reckon I’ll have to hunt down a new one.  This is the pits!  :?  Even the previous videos are no longer available.  *insert four lettered words here*

SGS Day 1 – Evening

Ok, I’m old and tired!  But what a WONDERFUL evening!

This fantastic lady, Michelle Bachmann, scares the bejabbers out of the left!  Heh. LOVE it!

(click to embiggen)

She had to leave in a hurry, so she wasn’t able to hang around, but Paula and I both got a hug from her.  :D

Marcia and her honey pie, Don.

Scary women. I’m blaming Marcia.  :?

She who shall remain nameless, ?, Paula, and our new friend from France.

Elizabeth.

Crazy women, and we’ll leave it at that for now.  heh heh heh

After dinner, we watched Fire From the Heartland.  I HIGHLY recommend EVERYONE watch this documentary.  We laughed, cried, cheered and applauded! I will be bringing home a copy, and will share it with everyone possible!

I’d love to share more of our evening, but ya know….I’M EXHAUSTED!  :P

Tomorrow is going to be another great day!  And I hear it’s actually going to stop raining!  :D

SGS Day 1 – Morning

Our morning started WAY too early, but we managed to make it across the street, after much coffee, in time to get registered and mosey into ballroom. NO coffee?? Seriously? No coffee in the lobby either. We had to actually BUY coffee at the restaurant? CRIMINY!

Dana Loesh of PJTV fame.

Anita MonCrief.  Had a nice conversation with her later.  Smart cookie!

The lovely Stacy Mott.

Some folks milling around.

I think that speck is Liz Cheney, but wouldn’t swear to it.  :?

Now, the interesting thing that happened….Chris and I were interviewed by the French press!  We had a great conversation with a lady from Paris, Karen Lajon – Grand Reporter, from Le Journal du Dimanche (well, that’s what her card says), who said she was here to cover our midterms, and decided to see what we were all about.  Had a great time chatting with this young lady.

I even got a brief interview with Human Events.  “Why are you here?”  Two words – my grandchildren!  :D  Told ya it was brief!

After lunch, Chris and I realized, even though we wanted to attend a couple of the afternoon breakout sessions, we were just brain dead!  Not enough sleep, too much coffee!  So, we came back to the room to rest.  I actually fell asleep for a while.  Thank goodness!  This might surprise the Mr, but that woman is trying to FREEZE me!  Heh.

Now, we are attempting to get ready for the banquet this evening.  Pray it doesn’t rain anymore!  :?  We might melt y’know.  :P

SGS Eve!

Just gonna post pics of some of the folks we ran into this evening. Not gonna try to name ‘em….yet.  :D  It’s late, I’m tired, and this hour off business….

We had a great time!  Chris and I being the only smokers, stepped out side, and entertained the traffic going by…”Runaround Sue”.  Ya had to be there.  Heh.

HAD To Swipe It….

Made It!

What would normally have been a couple of hours drive, took me about 5.  Why?  Cuz I’m the perpetual tourist, that’s why!  :P  It was a beautiful drive.  At least till I got within 10 miles of D.C.  I think everyone who owns a car in this area was behind the wheel.  But then, that’s normal for around here.  LOL  And surprisingly enough, I did NOT get lost!  Took the exit for the Pentagon, and drove right into the parking garage for the hotel.  I honestly thought they had valet.  That concrete coffin was NOT made with trucks in mind.  :?  But I didn’t hit anything, so this is a good thing!  :D

Started out early this morning.  Well, early for me!  Drove the 20 miles or so to get on Skyline Drive, and find you have to actually PAY to drive on this road now?  Not sure when they started that nonsense, but ok.  I don’t mind chipping in for the upkeep of the road, and facilities and such.  $15?  To drive 32 miles?  sigh…  Got it.  So, what’s the FIRST thing I see as I pull up to the road?

Pardon the bug splatter, but I think you can figure it out.  Not saying a word!  Quite a few of the ‘overlooks’ were closed, but no one was working except at one.  Well, if you call standing around chatting, working.  “Your recovery dollars at work.”  :?

Just A Thought

Mathew 3:10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

In context, John the Baptist was doing his then when the Pharisees showed up to check on his activities. John, IMHO, while preparing the way for Christ, was bringing the lost people back to where they should be, in God’s good Graces. Put God above all else, including the ruling class. When I read this passage, it brought to mind the Tea Parties, and those of us who want to return to the values of our founding, and the U.S. Constitution, and the ruling elite in D.C. Totally separated from realities of real life, the Pharisees kind of made up some rules as they went along. Doesn’t Congress pretty much do the same thing?

The Pharisees did NOT bring forth good fruit, and neither does D.C.  The current “ruling class” should be cut down, sent back where they came from!  They are the brambles and weeds, choking the fruitful trees.

Just thinkin’ ‘out loud.

Now, I’m headed out.  Last leg of my trip.  Thank goodness my Sirius decided to heal itself yesterday!  :)  Mountainous areas are notorious for bad radio reception.  :D

Welcome To The Historic Town Of…..

28 September 2010, 6:09 pm. 6 Comments. Filed under Travel.

….insert name of Virginia town here.  Heh.  This time, it’s New Market.  Haven’t seen anything all that “historic”, unless you count the squished roads.  Sheesh!  Just getting off the freeway was a task and a half.  :?

Anyway, I had every intent of playing tourist on this leg of my trip, get some shots of scenery and stuff.  Pfft!  The only thing I managed to do was get lost, buy a pair a sneakers and some socks (my feet were FREEZING) and take a picture of a horse’s hind end.  Don’t ask.  It’s not that there was some seriously beautiful scenery, old HUGE houses and such, it’s just that there was no way to pull off the road when I wanted to ‘make a memory’.  :?

So, here I am, ensconced in another motel, and it’s too dark to wander around.  Did get a picture of an old shed.  Does that count?

I don’t know why, but I’ve always had a thing for old abandoned buildings like that.  Old barns, and such.  Perhaps it’s the families and their histories I think of when I see such places.

Since I’m pretty close to my final destination, I think I’m going to take Skyline Drive for a while. At least there are things to actually look a besides the hind end of a semi!

Not Much of a View

AFTER another cup of coffee, of course!  :P

Good Thing I Don’t Drink!

27 September 2010, 8:20 pm. 6 Comments. Filed under Travel.

Otherwise, I might be hunting down a fifth of something or other right now!  My trip started out quite well.  It was a beautiful day, quite pleasant, temperature wise, until………….

It was my intent to make it past Knoxville before stopping so I can take a mosey stroll tomorrow, and then get into D.C. at a reasonable hour.

The first problem to crop up, I start getting this alert that I need to change my oil. Well, I just had it changed last week! Irritating. Then the dadburn thing starts talking to me again. “Would you like to run a systems check?” Over and over. NO….SHUT THE HELL UP! Vehicles aren’t suppose to talk! But I can deal. No problem. Second problem, I stop at a rest area for a much needed pit stop, get back in the truck, and no Sirius radio. Do you know how annoying it is having to constantly search for a radio station, when you’ve gotten use to be able to leave it on Sirius 1 or 2? sigh… Ok….I can deal with that too.

Well, I made it past Knoxville alright!  Barely!  It started raining sporadically after I got through Nashville. Brief pounding…sprinkle….pounding….stop….pounding. Then right before Knoxville….. What a downpour!  Reasonably intelligent people slow down when they can’t see 2 feet in front of them.  Pfft!  Now, I realize that truck drivers are on a tight schedule, and need to get as many miles behind them as possible.  BUT, when you have literal buckets falling from the sky, isn’t it a good idea for something SO big, and hard to stop, to SLOW THE HELL DOWN?  Jiminy crickets!

Then there were the numerous Prius drivers.  You know the ones who “care” more than anyone else because they drive a butt ugly aluminum can. Are they not aware that you use more fuel when you do 90 freakin’ miles an hour than if you actually do the posted speed limit? What a bunch of maroons!

Finally get through the deluge, find a Holiday Inn….in the dark! Aren’t ya proud? Get myself settled in, try to call the Mr, and my phone cops attitude! It took 10 minutes to just get the phone thingy to come up! Ok, finally get a hold of him, let him know where I am. I actually had to look at the phone in the room to find out where I am! Turns out, it’s Dandridge, TN. “Just a short drive from Pigeon Forge!” NO, I’m not going to Pigeon Forge!  Dolly will just have to do without my company.  :D

What I thought was the last straw for my day, was the inability to get online.  Oh, I got connected alright, but once again, Mozilla wouldn’t open.  After losing it for a short time, I decided food was on the agenda.  I realized I was REALLY hungry, and food might help adjust my attitude.  It did!  After rebooting 3 times, I finally got to the internet.  What else could go wrong?  Facebook.  It seems if they don’t recognize my location, they won’t let me on there without identifying a bunch of faces of people I don’t know.  sigh….  Been there, done that, gave them hell, and I was assured it wouldn’t happen again.  Hogwash!

Well, tomorrow WILL be better, right?  RIGHT???  :D

Liberal Groups Planning to Rally on National Mall

Hoping to overshadow last month’s large rally led by Glenn Beck that drew many Tea Party advocates and other conservatives, a coalition of liberal groups plan to descend on Washington on Saturday to make the case that they, and not the ascendant right, speak for America’s embattled middle class.

I really hate to break it to these folks, but no…..no, they don’t.

“The Tea Party has been getting much more media attention than it deserves, and it’s been saying it represents the voice of middle-class America,” said George Gresham, president of 1199 S.E.I.U., a New York health care union local, who says his union has chartered 500 buses to carry 25,000 union members to the rally. “A lot of us feel we have to get a different voice out there speaking for working people, one respecting the diversity of this country, which the Tea Party does not.”

I’m so sick of that word “diversity”. There is NOTHING diverse about these peckerwoods! It’s like they a collective brain, made of mush!  Now, I’d like to point out one HUGE difference here.  The true middle class who attended the 8/28 rally paid their own way, many saving for months to make the trip…..from their OWN pockets.  On the other hand, his UNION is paying for buses to tote folks to their rally.  I wonder if they are going to charge a token fee for each of the passengers, or will they be paying for said buses out of ALL them members dues, whether they want to or not?  They seem to do that a LOT!  Note the many LARGE donations unions make to socialist candidates, contrary to some of their members wishes.  You can pretty much bet that some of those funds are coming from OUR pockets too.  You know….the union bailouts and such.

The march’s supporters say that they, and not Mr. Beck, are the true descendants of the 1963 March on Washington, where the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his “I Have a Dream” speech. The Saturday march, like the 1963 march — and the Aug. 28 gathering that Mr. Beck and others organized — will be held on the National Mall in front of the Lincoln Memorial.

I thought we were ALL true descendants of Dr King’s legacy? I didn’t know that it was meant to be co-opted by socialists. No, King was NOT a commie! He was, in fact, a Republican. He wasn’t asking for “special treatment”. He wanted EQUAL rights, for ALL. In other words, everyone is equal to pursue their dreams, succeed or fail, on their OWN merit. I’d say this particular rally is more about the Karl Marx “dream”…. everyone is entitled to be equally miserable. :?

Mr. Jealous and Mr. Gresham, the two men who originally proposed the march, say they hope it will be larger than Mr. Beck’s rally. “We believe that our satellite photos will stack up nicely to his satellite photos,” Mr. Jealous said.

Well, if you’re paying folks’ way, and quite possibly footing the bill for lost wages, y’all just might ‘equal’ in number, but will you equal in message? Not likely. Honor doesn’t seem to be part of these folks vocabulary. Beck’s message was a strong one, Restoring Honor, which has been lost, thanks to people like the union thugs, the corrupt politicians, and the radical left. It’s not about the numbers, it’s about the message!

The rally’s platform looks like a liberal wish list: extend unemployment benefits, raise the minimum wage, end the foreclosure epidemic, enact legislation making it easier to join unions, increase infrastructure spending to create jobs, “fix our broke immigration system” and end immigration round-ups that “encourage racial profiling.” The march’s sponsors hope it will help turn some of these wishes into legislative reality, in part by giving the Democrats some highly visible and clamorous backing to push through stalled legislation.

Yep, quite a socialist list of gimmes! Encourage more taxes to put the middle class out on the street, dependent on gubmint; push unionization of companies that are totally opposed to unions; force small businesses to close their doors, so more will be unemployed;allow law breakers to continue to break the law, and ignore those who follow the rules. Does that pretty much sum up their ‘wish list’?

“As people of faith, we deeply care about the issues of justice, education and jobs, and we feel those are issues facing society we have to address,” said the Rev. Amy Stapleton, a spokeswoman for the United Methodist Church. “A march like this is something that hasn’t been accomplished since Dr. King brought people together in 1963 around issues of race, war, class and the right to decent pay and good jobs.”

I would suggest that the ‘good’ Reverend try reading the actual BIBLE, study it, learn it, live it! Charity comes from the heart, not the government. You don’t work, you don’t eat. And if you truly want justice, punish the guilty, not mollycoddle them.  Put God back in the public square.  Restore HONOR, and bring back shame!  Bring back the Judeo-Christian values that founded this country!

Fair Warning!

Blogging will be LIGHT!  I will be gathering with a whole bunch of women, and some male types, from all over the country at the Smart Girl Summit in Chrystal City, VA.  WHOO HOO!  Chris from Racine and I are going to be sharing a room.  THIS should get real interesting.  Heh. I’m looking forward to seeing ‘old’ friends, and meeting some new ones.

So, Monday, the 27th, I’ll be loading up the trusty truck with more than I want, but probably forgetting stuff I need, and heading towards D.C.  I have full intention of taking my time….MUCH longer than it would normally take.  I don’t wanna be totally exhausted by the time I get there y’know.  :P  I’ll be driving through some mighty pretty country, so I hope I’ll be able to get some shots to share, when I stop for the evening….er….afternoon….er….whenever.  :D

Yeah…I realize I haven’t been quite up to snuff in the blogging department recently.  You know who you are that fussed at me.  :P  But seriously…how many times, and how many ways, can ya say the country is going to hell in a hand basket?  Maybe this trip will rejuvenate the brain?  One can only hope!  :D
