Imam Says NYC Mosque Site Is Not ‘Hallowed Ground’

The imam leading the effort to build an Islamic community center and mosque near ground zero says there is a “misperception” that the proposed site is sacred ground.

Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf said Monday that the location where the center would be built, two blocks from the World Trade Center, has a strip joint and betting parlors nearby. He says it’s “absolutely disingenuous” to suggest that it is “hallowed ground.”

Well, HE might not believe the area is hallowed ground, but there are a LOT of folks, me being one of them, that believe NO mosque should be built within 4000 miles of the area!  I’m fairly certain that no one at the strip joint, or the betting parlors, are going to be shouting ‘allahu akbar’ and preaching ‘murder the infidels’.

Holding Economic Recovery Hostage
The Foundry

Last August, NBC News’ Chuck Todd posed a question to President Barack Obama from Elkhart, Indiana, resident Scott Ferguson: “Explain how raising taxes on anyone during a deep recession is going to help with the economy.” The President responded: “We have not proposed a tax hike for the wealthy that would take effect during a recession. … He’s absolutely right, the last thing you want to do is raise taxes in the middle of a recession because that would just suck up, take more demand out of the economy and put businesses in a further hole.”

Fast forward to yesterday on NBC’s Meet the Press where — after host David Gregory asked, “When does the economic team think that Obama administration economic policies will have a sizable impact on the unemployment rate in this country?” — White House senior adviser David Axelrod admitted: “It took 10 years to create that problem … It’s going to take — nearly 10 years — it’s going to take some time … It’s going to take some time to fix it.” Meanwhile over at Fox News Sunday, newly minted Chairman of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers Austan Goolsbee was admitting to host Chris Wallace: “I think it’s clear that the labor market is significantly weakened, has been for some time. We have to do everything we can to try to create jobs and get people back to work. … I don’t think the unemployment rate will be coming down significantly anytime in the near future.”

Some Tennesseans question need for hunting rights amendment

Tennessee voters this fall will be asked to decide whether hunting and fishing should be a constitutional right, a position already taken in 10 other states.

I could never imagine that the right to hunt would ever be in question. Then again, I never believed same sex “marriage” would be an issue either.

Advocates, including the Tennessee Wildlife Federation, say amending the state constitution will prevent radical animal rights activists and an increasingly urban state legislature from one day shutting down the activities.

Anybody heard of Cass Sunstein? :?   “We ought to ban hunting, I suggest, if there isn’t a purpose other than sport and fun. That should be against the law. It’s time now.” (source)

But some hunters and non-hunters find the proposal perplexing, saying that hunting and fishing don’t appear to be at risk in Tennessee.

YET! Why let it get that far? Why wait until some whackjob in Obama’s administration with a massive control issue decides to use some obscure, or not so obscure, government agency to ban something that bugs him/her personally. We’ve got so many unelected agencies now running our lives, do we really want to wait till one of them gets a hair up their hinder?

In Michigan, voters banned hunting of the mourning dove in a 2006 referendum. It had been allowed for the first time in that state two years earlier by an act of the Michigan legislature.

Gotta say it! Michigan is full of fools anyway! Oh, there are some rational folks up there, being overrun by the irrational. And I’ll leave it at that.

An official with one of the nation’s high-profile animal activist groups, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, which opposes hunting, called such proposals “frivolous.”

These are the folks who think it’s ok to destroy someone else’s property.

Butler insists that the amendment would not affect regulations. “You’ll still have to have a license,” he said. “You’ll still be subject to regulations. It doesn’t allow for any trespassing.

“It will have no impact on private property rights.”

I learned that if you want to shoot a deer on your own property, you still have to have a license. Why? It’s your property. The deer is trespassing. Dinner! :D

Larry Hillis, owner of Reloader’s Bench, a guns and ammunition store in Mt. Juliet, said he thought the proposal was odd when he first heard about it.

But, after he understood from an advocate that the legislature could prohibit hunting and fishing, he grew more favorable. “On the face of it, I think it’s a good idea,” he said. “I would like to find out more about it before I jump up and down and say I’m for it.”

Many things going on these days are ‘odd’. It’s much better to be safe, than sorry, right?

“If you really want this, postpone it, and get some strong legislation that really protects landowners,” he said. “They pay a lot more in property taxes than hunters pay in licenses.”

Since we do pay property taxes, you’d think that was enough to give us the right to do what we want with our property. Not so. You have to get permission from government entities if you want to make any changes. I’d say an amendment, if it includes protection of the property owner, isn’t such a bad idea.

LRCA Hunting Rights Amendment Hunting Personal right to hunt and fish within state laws and property rights

As usual, The Tennessean did not provide any information, not even the number of the legislation, or a summary the text of the amendments, so naturally, I had to hunt them up m’self.

OTHER STATES WITH RIGHT

States with a constitutional right to hunt and fish are Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Vermont, Virginia and Wisconsin.

California and Rhode Island guarantee the right to fish, but not to hunt.

Perhaps if all states allowed their citizens to hunt, SAFELY, there wouldn’t be hungry children. If a person hunts for sport, and not for food, then the meat could quite easily be given to shelters and such. Just sayin’.

2 Local Men Burn Quran Despite Protest

Despite multiple pleas to reconsider, two local religious leaders held a private Quran burning in a Springfield backyard Saturday afternoon.

The Rev. Bob Old and the Rev. Danny Allen both had different reasons for burning the Muslim holy book, but they said it had nothing to do with whether or not a mosque was built near ground zero.

“It’s about faith, it’s about love, but you have to have the right book behind you. This is a book of hate, not a book of love,” said Old while holding up a Quran.

The two men said they burned the books to defend the United States Constitution and the American people. It’s a move that has been denounced by Christian groups, politicians and even some of their family members.

Three women who have loved ones fighting abroad stood outside of Old’s home holding up signs to protest the burnings.

“Somebody’s got to stand up for the troops,” said Ashley Parsons.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the administration would ‘stand up for the troops’, and stop hindering them at every turn? Stop tying their hands, let them do their job! The purpose of war is to WIN!  Not win ‘hearts and minds’!

Let’s face it, you can fart in the wrong direction, and Muslims get their knickers in a twist! It doesn’t matter what we, or don’t do, no amount of appeasement, is going to satisfy these barbarians!  Flick a fly off your shoulder, and these yahoos are going to take it as an insult.  Call a teddy bear Mohammed….cause to riot!  A girl looks at a boy, cut off her head.  And a few folks are worried about ‘offending’ Islam.  When has Islam ever been concerned about the MANY offenses it perpetrates against others?

How many Bibles, a Book of love (as opposed to a book of hate), have been destroyed by Muslims?  Even our own military has thrown them in the trash and burned them.  I don’t remember Christians rising up, burning flags, destroying property, injuring or killing anyone.

No, two wrongs don’t make a right.  But bowing to such barbarism isn’t going to make anything right either!  No, it will make things a WHOLE lot worse!

The large majority of Americans are offended by the idea of building a ‘victory mosque’ so near the graves of those murdered by Mohammed following lunatics, are we all rioting, burning, killing?  No.  Well, at least not so far, but don’t push it!

(click to embiggen)

I definitely don’t support book burning.  I like books.  A lot!  I believe very strongly in the U.S. Constitution.  I don’t support anyone burning the U.S. Flag either, but no one denies the lefties right to do so.  Is it right?  Not in my opinion, but the courts have perverted the Constitution (especially the 1st Amendment) in such a manner that it supports such actions.  Doesn’t that include burning a book as well?

2 O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me.

3 Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.

4 Shew me thy ways, O LORD; teach me thy paths.

5 Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.

6 Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

7 Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to thy mercy remember thou me for thy goodness’ sake, O LORD.

Obama: “As Americans we are not — and never will be — at war with Islam,” the president said. “It was not a religion that attacked us that September day — it was al-Qaida, a sorry band of men which perverts religion.”

You sir, are a complete and utter idiot!  Islam declared war on US quite a while ago.  Not just al-qaeda, but Islam. I’m sure, being brought up in a MUSLIM country, going to a MUSLIM school, and going to the MOSQUE with your stepdad a few times, you had an opportunity to read a bit of that ‘holy book’?

Qur’an 9:5 Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.

What do Muslims do when someone even threatens to burn the false book?  Which was canceled, by the way!  Pay attention, dipwads!  Well, protest, burn the U.S. flag, and generally behave like barbarians.  What else?

I Remember!

11 September 2010, 7:46 am. 6 Comments. Filed under Religion of Pieces.

On 11 September 2001, I was coming down the stairs, having just woken up, when the Mr looked up at me and said “A plane flew into the World Trade Center.” Honestly, I thought he was kidding at first, although, for the life of me, I can’t imagine why he would. I’m not a morning person, so I don’t think it sank in he was serious for a few seconds. I sat down in my comfy chair and didn’t move from that spot for the rest of the day.

Shortly after I sat down (more like my knees gave way), I saw the second plane crash into the South Tower. I, as with the rest of the world, was dumbfounded.

I kept thinking, this can’t be real! No way! Why would anyone fly a plane into a building? Intentionally! Well, I guess we found out later the ‘why’. And who. It wasn’t a blonde haired, blue eyed Southern Baptist, was it.

I watched as the first building collapsed.  A short time later, I watched the second building come down.  I, as many others that day, sat glued to the television, torn between tears and shocked disbelief. I spent, what I think was a couple of hours on the phone with my daughter, Brat, who was confused and angry. We cried together. Many people cried that day.

Some did not.

I still cry. Do you? Do you remember what you were doing when you heard the news? Why have so many forgotten? Why do some say to “get over it“? Get over it???? I don’t think so! Not this year. Not next year! Not 10 years from now. Not till the day I die!

Every year, since I’ve been blogging, I have honored a young man named Martin.  This is a copy and paste from 9/11/09.

9/11/01 – Martin Morales Zempoaltecatl

zempoaltecatl_martin_morales_2a.jpg

I had never heard this name. There are others that you recognized after hearing them on the news time and time again. People like Todd Beemer, Barbara Olsen, Chick Burlingame. But has anyone ever heard the name Martin Morales Zempoaltecatl? Truth be told, I can’t even pronounce it. I decided to start my search for this young man on Google. It made sense. I typed in the long name, and came up with over 700 hits, the majority were sites listing the names of those who parished on 11 September 2001. They’re long lists. But nothing told me about the person Martin had been. He was 22 years old. Too young to die. He worked as an assistant chef in the Windows of the World. This is all the information I could find. I wanted to know more. Was he married? Did he have children who will never see their daddy again? Where did he come from, what place did he call home, and will never be able to return? I know he lived in Queens. But where in Queens? What were his dreams that will never be fulfilled? I received this picture from the 2996 group, but hadn’t really had a chance to actually look at this young man. The first thing I noticed, as I usually do, are his eyes. He has kind eyes. Was he a kind person? He must have been, he supported his parents. Then I saw a sweet, cheerful smile, and I knew he was a good person. For some reason, I see him liking children, nieces, nephews, the neighborhood kids.

martin-9-11-victim.jpg

Doing a little more digging, I found out Martin was born in Santa Catarina, Tlaxcala, Mexico. He supported his parents, Crescencio Morales, 60, and Mauricia Zempoaltecatl, also 60. Martin was the youngest of their children, and this tragedy hit them quite hard. They have since returned to Mexico. One thing I did discover, as of that article, the family had not received any of the thousands of dollars that had been given so generously by the American people. I hope that has now been resolved. I’d like to find out if the family is now able to care for their other children and grandchildren. This young man evidently wasn’t counted among the slaughtered innocents originally.

zempoaltecatl_martin_morales0a.jpg

This year, I did some more checking, and a little more information about this young man was available. It turns out Martin was not just an employee at the Windows on the World. He was an assistant chef. I’d like to believe he was a really good chef. His niece, Cynthia, sure seemed to believe so:

Martin Morales, my uncle only being 22 years old. He was working in the World Trade center. He was a great chef and a loving uncle. Being the youngest uncle, we were very close to him. Even though we didn’t find his body, his smile will always be in our hearts. We miss him very much!

I pray Martin’s family has found peace, and will tell the new members of their family about this young man. I pray he will never be forgotten. I know he’ll be residing in my heart.

Nine years later, I have not forgotten!  Nor, will I EVER forget!

Savannah Woman Murdered in Home

A Savannah woman was found dead in her home last night, allegedly murdered in what Savannah Police Chief Donald Derr says may have been a robbery turned deadly.

Otylier Callens, 80, of XX Ryan Street was found by family members in the living room of her home. According to Derr, family members had tried to contact Callens earlier in the evening to no avail. Callens allegedly was found with a plastic bag around her head. The unofficial cause of death right now has been determined as strangulation/asphyxiation.

This seriously creeps me out!  Prayers with family and friends.
