And He Foisted Pelosi On An Unsuspecting Public, Too!

While watching the news last night, I had occasion to watch Steve Cohen, lie through his teeth. First the reporter type person spoke to Charlotte Bergman, Cohen’s opponent for the 9th Congressional seat, who said:

She noted that her main concerns are with the economy. Bergmann’s team walked by many houses that had been foreclosed.

“That’s real pain that people are experiencing. And that’s pain that my opponent apparently doesn’t understand. Otherwise he would not have been voting for the bills he has been voting for,” Bergmann said.

She also gave some numbers for unemployment:

She also lamented the lack of jobs, saying, “In this community, unemployment is over 16 percent.”

The WREG team disputes these numbers:

In September, the unemployment rate was 10.6 percent in the city of Memphis and 9.8 percent in Shelby County.

One thing that is not taken into consideration are the number of people who have stopped looking for work, and are now getting public aid. They also don’t count those who just refuse to look for work. :/ I’d have to agree with Charlotte. The actual number are much higher than the official numbers.  I’d like to ask one question though….  Just what company has put those people to work?  Personally, I haven’t seen, or heard of any companies in the Memphis area hiring that many of the residents.  :?

Steve Cohen, who greeted voters at a Democratic event several blocks away in Midtown, said that he had in fact been a part of historic bills to give people tax breaks, not tax hikes.

“We voted on the largest tax breaks in United States history in the 111th Congress. In fact, the stimulus bill was 40 percent tax breaks. There have been more tax breaks for 95 percent of the citizens of the middle class,” Cohen said.

Tax breaks? Really? ObamaCare gives tax breaks? Where? The wasteful Crapulus Bill? You know the one….teaching foreigners how to wash their winkies and such. Were those tax breaks?  Now, with my logic, taking money out the pockets of the taxpayer….or borrowing it from China….does not mean a tax break for anyone.  A break is something that benefits people, and honestly, I haven’t seen much benefit in my experience.  Oh, Cohen and his cronies may have helped out the big Dem donors, like the unions, but what about the every day person?

He said that it is in fact a difficult year for some of his Democratic colleagues, but that he is not nervous himself. He remains unfazed by some demands to remove people who seem to be Washington insiders.

“We know how Washington works; we’re effective at making it work. That’s been my life. Some people say we don’t need anymore career politicians, but Thomas Jefferson was a career politician and so was George Washington,” Cohen said.

Oh, fer the love of pete!  No, neither Jefferson nor Washington  were ‘career politicians’!  Both were public SERVANTS, true, but they had other means of earning a living.  And for the love of all that’s holy, why does this yahoo think we want to get rid of them?  It’s BECAUSE they have been so effective at making DC work….for THEM.  NOT for WE, The People!

I hate to say it, but I fear the folks in TN’s 9th Congressional District will re-elect this self centered Congress Critter.  I’d like to know…..WHY?

One More Outrage!

It’s Personal

TN is 5th in U.S. in murders of women by men

The day after he was released from jail for attacking his girlfriend, Michael D. Williams returned to the woman’s apartment to finish the job. He confronted Shellie Hernandez and shot her in the head.

Hernandez, 30, was but one of dozens of women murdered by men in Tennessee in 2008. And the mounting deaths help put Tennessee fifth in the nation in the rate of women murdered by men, according to a new study by the Washington, D.C.,-based Violence Policy Center.

“I think the system failed her,” said Hernandez’s sister-in-law, Diomarys Moran. “This shouldn’t have happened.”

Tennessee has consistently ranked high in the center’s studies over the last decade. Using FBI homicide statistics, the group over the last 11 years has ranked Tennessee in the Top 10 nine times and the Top 5 four times.

Many will ask…”Why doesn’t a woman just leave?” As a woman, I will ask….”Have you ever been in such a situation?” If not, then don’t judge. Many women know what I’m talking about, and it’s not a matter of weakness on the woman’s part.

“You have fewer resources available for women and also you have more households with higher rates of gun ownership,” said Kristen Rand, legislative director for the Violence Policy Center. “Guns in the home where there’s any history of abuse increase the risk that abuse will rise to homicide.”

It doesn’t matter if there is a gun in the house. If the man is going to murder, he is going to murder. There is something wrong with HIM, not the gun.

The report disturbed law enforcement and advocacy groups who say the state’s ranking is unacceptably high.

I can’t swear to how Tennessee handles domestic issues, but I can tell you from experience, there are areas in both Texas and California where they don’t take domestic violence very seriously. At least they didn’t in the 90s. I sincerely pray they have come into the 21st century by now. At that time, it was quite common for the woman to be blamed by the police.

Tennessee’s rate of women murdered by men has risen steadily since 2004, from 1.78 women killed for every 100,000 resident to 1.97 in 2008. The report found that 95 percent of the women were killed by someone they knew.

These numbers are TOTALLY unacceptable. Education should begin at home. Sadly, many young boys see their fathers abuse their mothers, and it becomes a learned behavior. It’s also apparent that many young girls have been taught, by example, that it’s ok for their boyfriend/spouse to hit them. It becomes an ugly cycle. Unfortunately, manipulative males also have the ability to convince the girl/woman that he wouldn’t hit her if she didn’t make him mad. It’s her fault she has a black eye, split lip, or a broken arm.

Advocates sometimes hear criticism of women who don’t leave their abusers. But many don’t have easy alternatives that allow them to leave.

“To leave a situation where you have little children, you’ve got to find a place to live, get a job, day care,” said Dr. Carol Harp, a police psychologist and crisis counseling supervisor at Metro Police’s Domestic Violence Division.

“It’s practically impossible. There’s a list of challenges for them. It’s just very hard,” Harp said.

I won’t deny there are some women who could leave, but won’t for whatever reason they have cooked up in their heads. “He’s really sorry, I won’t make it without him.” I’ve also heard the argument that they stay for the sake of the children. In my opinion, the children are the biggest reason they should get out while they are alive to do so.

Walsh said that new laws went into place last year that ban domestic abusers and people under orders of protection from having handguns. She hopes the law will help improve the ranking for the 2009 murders.

All the laws on the books will not stop an animal from murder. They can forbid the slime ball from owning a gun, but do criminals really care about the law? Also, depending on the government to provide a safe haven for a woman and her children shouldn’t fall fully to the government, on any level. It is OUR responsibility to care for our sisters.  If there is a shelter in your area, donate money, clothes, furniture, etc.  If you have a property that could be used to shelter women and children, use it for such a purpose.  Give from your heart to the women who need you the most.

Anyone seeking help from an abusive situation can call the National Domestic Violence Hotline for 24-hour help at 1-800-799-SAFE.

No one who beats on a woman is a man, I don’t care what’s dangling between the legs!

More Anti-Israeli Actions From The UN

PM slams UNESCO’s classifying Rachel’s Tomb as a mosque

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Friday slammed world culture organization UNESCO’s decision to characterize the site of Rachel’s Tomb as a Muslim mosque.

“The attempt to separate the nation of Israel from its cultural heritage is absurd,” said the prime minister.

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.  Ya see their motto? “Building peace in the minds of people” Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Got it. Well, I have to tell ya, if the United Nations is involved in any way, shape or form, I do NOT feel peaceful in my mind!

Now, as for Rachel’s Tomb.  The UN is calling it a mosque?  Seriously?  There was no such thing as a mosque when Rachel walked the earth.  Rachel is considered a HEBREW Biblical matriarch, and the place considered her tomb is the 3rd holiest place in Judaism.  What, pray tell, does Rachel have to do with mosques?  NOTHING.  So, why would UNESCO decide to term it as such?

UNESCO’s requests comes after Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in March, according to Saudi paper Al Wattan, claimed that the al-Aksa Mosque, the Cave of the Patriarchs and Rachel’s Tomb “were not and never will be Jewish sites, but Islamic sites.”

That’s pretty bleepin’ interesting, considering there was no such thing as Islam when these were DEFINITELY Jewish sites! The Temple was destroyed by the Romans, although there is still a very prominent wall remaining. No Islam. Cave of the Patriarchs? No Islam. Rachel? No Islam.

People can try to change history to suit themselves, but that doesn’t mean that facts can be altered.  Why shouldn’t the Israelis have these places on their national heritage list?  They ARE a large part of Israel’s heritage!

Book ‘em, Danno

Actor who played Danno on ‘Hawaii Five-O’ dies

Stage and screen actor James MacArthur, who played “Danno” in the original version of television’s “Hawaii Five-O,” died Thursday at age 72. MacArthur’s agent, Richard Lewis, said the actor died in Florida of “natural causes,” but no direct cause was specified.

In a career that spanned more than four decades, MacArthur was most recognized for his role as detective Danny “Danno” Williams on “Hawaii Five-O,” which aired from 1968 to 1980. Episodes often ended with detective Steve McGarrett, the lead character, uttering what became a pop culture catch phrase: “Book ‘em, Danno.”

I’m starting to feel REALLY old now. :?  As a young sprout, I had a crush on him after seeing him in Swiss Family Robinson.

Rest in peace. Prayers with friends and family.

Arizona Beheading Raises Fears of Drug Violence

The gruesome case of a man who was stabbed and beheaded in a suburban Phoenix apartment has police investigating whether the killing is potentially the most extreme example of Mexican drug cartel violence spilling over the border.

Martin Alejandro Cota-Monroy’s body was found Oct. 10 in a Chandler apartment — his severed head a couple feet away. One man suspected in the killing has been arrested, and a manhunt is under way for three others.

But there’s no problem, right? I mean just because people are being murdered on THIS side of the border, doesn’t mean there is an issue. Isn’t that what Nepalitano has told us?  And she must be right, right?  She was the governor of Arizona, and now the head of Homeland Security, so she should know, better than anyone, right?  I mean, it’s not like this whole administration is totally oblivious, is it?

No Gray Matter

Just when I thought Tingles Matthews couldn’t get anymore revolting, not to mention clueless….

Matthews: How Long Before We See Tea Partiers Start Showing Up in Uniform, 1930s Style?

Chris Matthews, on Wednesday’s Hardball, not so cryptically compared the actions of Republican volunteers to that of Nazi-style tactics from the 1930s as he claimed the restraining of a MoveOn.org activist by a Rand Paul supporter reminded him of what “we saw from hoodlums in the thirties in another country I will not mention” and added: “I mean it isn’t far from what we saw in the thirties, where all of a sudden, political parties started showing up in uniform.” Matthews who was joined by Salon’s Joan Walsh and the Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza, even went on to claim physical attacks against political opponents was something that existed exclusively on one ideological side as he asserted that it was “right wing by its very nature.”

Seriously, Tingles? Have you taken a good look at those who attend TEA Party rallies, and those who show up at leftist rallies?

Picture from Beck’s Restoring Honor rally on 8/28, most of whom are likely to lean towards the TEA Party issues:

And here we have a group from the socialist rally held on 10/2:

Now, I don’t know about you, but I’d say the ones who are more likely to wear 1930s type uniforms would be the ones who are already wearing a ‘uniform’.

And about the NON head-stomp, I in NO way condone the actions of the Rand Paul supporters, however, wouldn’t it be nice if there was some accuracy being reported?  The woman came with unknown intentions, and to me, what I can see from the videos of the incident, she was behaving in a threatening manner.   While, the Paul supporters did over react, I’ve no doubt that if she had intended harm to Paul, the outcome could have been a lot worse.

It’s Been One Of THOSE Days!

28 October 2010, 4:33 pm. Comments Off. Filed under Opinion.

Yep, one of those days I’d like to bury my head and ignore the rest of the world. Hard to do, but I did make the attempt. :? Why? Well, the more I watch/listen to the news, the more annoyed, and dismayed, I become. Wondering just what kind of world have we made that there is so much deceit, so much….well evil. How did we get here?

One answer might be that we’ve turned away from our Creator. No longer is there shame, or embarrassment. Everything goes, so to speak. From the very top, to the very bottom, there are more and more who have forgotten just where we came from, and no longer give honor and praise to the REAL One.

I’ve learned, in recent days, that I’m an enemy, been called dog-like by a thoughtless, ignorant comedian wanna-be on a talk show, whose host I USE to like, watching the DNC starting probes of possible opponents of Obama in 2012 (only one of whom I could support 100%, so far), yet, I’m suppose to be tolerant of such behaviors?  I don’t think so!  Oh sure, I can forgive the ignorance, but I don’t have to sit still while being slandered, and can respond.

Have you seen the political ads from many on the left.  Proven lies, yet they keep airing them.  We get them from 3 different states here in Podunk.  I’ll be REAL happy when the ads stop!  At least for a while.  Sadly, there are some in this country who base their vote strictly on the ads they see on the idjit box.  It definitely happened in 2008.  :?

It seems the Democrats don’t believe in their message, so have already been involved in voter fraud in several states already.  The good news?  The Justice Department claims it will stop voter intimidation. Yeah, I smirked, too.

Did the supposed POTUS really use his props at a meeting?  Is he so utterly incompetent, or does someone fear him going off script so much they insist he use them?  I wonder if he’s going to use them when he visits that great big mosque in Jakarta?  Probably, since he can’t even speak to the Indian parliament without them. *shakes head* Extremely pathetic, and embarrassing.  But while he’ll go to a mosque, he won’t visit a Sikh temple for fear of Muslim rumors?  Perhaps he should skip the mosque as well.  :?

Evidently, liberalism is a birth defect.  Hmmm….  Well, we already know it’s a mental disorder.  :)

The bright point of my day?  Well, Paula shared a link!  :D  GIMME!

Have ya voted yet?  Today’s the last day for early voting, so if ya don’t wanna stand in long lines on Tuesday, get yer rear in gear and go cast your vote!  And be vigilant!  We don’t have too many problems here in Podunk, but with tempers running high, and Memphis’ history of fraud, you never can tell what might happen in the bigger cities.

So, get with the program!  Make your voice heard!  If ya don’t go today, make sure you vote on Tuesday!  And, if ya don’t vote…… KEEP YER FREAKIN’ MOUTH SHUT!  You don’t have the right to complain.
