An Ol' Broad's Ramblings
And He Foisted Pelosi On An Unsuspecting Public, Too!
While watching the news last night, I had occasion to watch Steve Cohen, lie through his teeth. First the reporter type person spoke to Charlotte Bergman, Cohen’s opponent for the 9th Congressional seat, who said:
She noted that her main concerns are with the economy. Bergmann’s team walked by many houses that had been foreclosed.
“That’s real pain that people are experiencing. And that’s pain that my opponent apparently doesn’t understand. Otherwise he would not have been voting for the bills he has been voting for,” Bergmann said.
She also gave some numbers for unemployment:
She also lamented the lack of jobs, saying, “In this community, unemployment is over 16 percent.”
The WREG team disputes these numbers:
In September, the unemployment rate was 10.6 percent in the city of Memphis and 9.8 percent in Shelby County.
One thing that is not taken into consideration are the number of people who have stopped looking for work, and are now getting public aid. They also don’t count those who just refuse to look for work. :/ I’d have to agree with Charlotte. The actual number are much higher than the official numbers. I’d like to ask one question though…. Just what company has put those people to work? Personally, I haven’t seen, or heard of any companies in the Memphis area hiring that many of the residents.
Steve Cohen, who greeted voters at a Democratic event several blocks away in Midtown, said that he had in fact been a part of historic bills to give people tax breaks, not tax hikes.
“We voted on the largest tax breaks in United States history in the 111th Congress. In fact, the stimulus bill was 40 percent tax breaks. There have been more tax breaks for 95 percent of the citizens of the middle class,” Cohen said.

Tax breaks? Really? ObamaCare gives tax breaks? Where? The wasteful Crapulus Bill? You know the one….teaching foreigners how to wash their winkies and such. Were those tax breaks? Now, with my logic, taking money out the pockets of the taxpayer….or borrowing it from China….does not mean a tax break for anyone. A break is something that benefits people, and honestly, I haven’t seen much benefit in my experience. Oh, Cohen and his cronies may have helped out the big Dem donors, like the unions, but what about the every day person?
He said that it is in fact a difficult year for some of his Democratic colleagues, but that he is not nervous himself. He remains unfazed by some demands to remove people who seem to be Washington insiders.
“We know how Washington works; we’re effective at making it work. That’s been my life. Some people say we don’t need anymore career politicians, but Thomas Jefferson was a career politician and so was George Washington,” Cohen said.
Oh, fer the love of pete! No, neither Jefferson nor Washington were ‘career politicians’! Both were public SERVANTS, true, but they had other means of earning a living. And for the love of all that’s holy, why does this yahoo think we want to get rid of them? It’s BECAUSE they have been so effective at making DC work….for THEM. NOT for WE, The People!
I hate to say it, but I fear the folks in TN’s 9th Congressional District will re-elect this self centered Congress Critter. I’d like to know…..WHY?

Ah yes. Democrats gave taxpayers taxbreaks and tax refunds.
The taxbreaks went to businesses and NOT to us taxpayers.
The refunds were from monies that we, the taxpayers, had been forced to pay in the first place.
The Democrats feel that we should be gratefull that they gave us back a nickel after we were forced to give them five dollars!!
I, for one, was not very impressed by their genorosity!!!
I’m pretty sure you can figure out what I’d say to ‘em. LMAO
