Kids Will Be Kids?

13 October 2010, 4:38 pm. Comments Off. Filed under Opinion.

Hogwash!  Kids tend to emulate their parents, and if the parents are morons, odds are, the kids will be too!

Bullying is a very serious issue, but it’s not a new one.  We hear more about the toll it takes on kids because of the 24/7 news and the internet, but for as long as kids have been on the planet, there have been schoolyard bullies.  Why?  What makes a bully?

Now, I don’t usually link to ANYTHING at Koz Kids, but this post by Goldni struck a nerve.  First, the reference to “Tea Bag Land”?  Seriously?  *shakes head* When talking about the suicide of children, is it really necessary to use vulgar, gay, sexual terms to refer to those with whom opinions you disagree?

NO child should be bullied.  Not gay, not straight, not geeks, NOT ANY KID!  Period!  Straight kids who get bullied commit suicide too.  Here are lists from UK, Canada, and the U.S.  Looking through the lists, which obviously are incomplete and just a sampling, I didn’t notice any mention of sexual orientation.  If there is, I missed it.

It doesn’t matter if the kid is gay, or not!  No child should ever feel their only escape is death.  EVER!  I don’t know of one person who was not bullied, in some way or another during their school years.  In elementary school, I too, was bullied.  I still have the physical, and perhaps a few emotional, scars to prove it!  Did I often feel desperation through my growing up?  Naturally.  Doesn’t every teen feel so totally alone at some time or another?  That doesn’t mean he or she really are, or that things will not improve over time.

Unfortunately, we have raised a generation of both wusses, and bullies.  Why do some kids bully other kids (for any reason)?  No doubt there is a bunch of psycho-babble that will TRY to explain the trend.  In my opinion, we no longer have parenting, nor do we teach respect.  One lesson we were taught early in life was The Golden Rule….Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets. Often misquoted as “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Sadly, so many have forgotten this rule, and schools won’t post it in classrooms anymore.

One article I came across stated:

Psychologists used to believe that bullies have low self-esteem, and put down other people to feel better about themselves. While many bullies are themselves bullied at home or at school, new research shows that most bullies actually have excellent self-esteem. Bullies usually have a sense of entitlement and superiority over others, and lack compassion, impulse control and social skills. They enjoy being cruel to others and sometimes use bullying as an anger management tool, the way a normally angry person would punch a pillow.

Do people actually punch pillows?  I’ve punched a concrete wall, I’ve thrown lamps, I’ve shattered mirrors…I’ve even decked an ex or two, but I don’t ever remember punching a pillow.  As for that ‘sense of entitlement’, the only bullies I’ve seen with such have been liberals.  :?

When a kid has a parent who has major issues and abuses the child for reasons known only to themselves….sense of powerlessness, lack of control of their own lives, feelings of failure….(small weenie ?)….whatever, that kid turns around and finds someone to take his/her frustrations on someone smaller and weaker.  Parents teach by example, and the examples we have these days?  Don’t get me started.

I find it really hard to believe that anyone who picks on another human being has ‘excellent self-esteem’.  If they did, they wouldn’t feel some primal need to abuse others.  So, I’m not buying into that argument at all!

Here we have THE HIDDEN ELEMENTS, IN THE CULTURE OF VIOLENCE:

The culture of violence has at least six hidden elements that point toward the occurrence of more Columbine-type shootings:

1. A dominator value system that supports violence

2. An over-focus on negative behaviors

3. The pervasiveness of bullying behavior

4. Collective denial of the effects of bullying behavior

5. The role of post-tramatic stress disorder (PTSD) in the perpetration of violence

6. The effects of parental neglect and emotional abandonment on children.

I will admit, I tried to look up what was meant by “denominator value system’.  Evidently, my assumption of numerals, algebra, libraries and the like, is also what Google had in mind as well.  In our so called entertainment industry, too much emphasis has been placed on negative behaviors, instead of sending a strong positive, encouraging message.  Parental neglect and abandonment has way too many negatives that impact children.  Out of wed-lock births, generational welfare, no encouragement for education, just to name a few.

From the same article, bullies:

Have little regard for the rights, needs, or even the lives of others, particularly if they see these others as a threat.

Exploit the needs and rights of others when they perceive them as having less power, status or influence, including women, children, and minorities.

Are on the defensive and never admit mistakes. Blame others for causing their problems.

Believe that “might makes right.”

Honestly, I’m not trying to connect this with politics, as others have done, but it’s a little difficult when there is repeated indications of obvious liberalism.  I can’t overlook these examples.  Liberals don’t care about anyone else’s needs, or rights…only their needs or rights are important.  Liberals have been exploiting sections of the population for decades!  It’s always someone else’s fault!  When they have no facts to back up their argument, they attack.  SEIU bullies?  On the contrary, being right gives you might.

One thing I’ve noticed is that bullies have a pack mentality. When all alone, without backup, they tend to behave quite differently. Stop giving them an audience, and odds are, they’ll find themselves another outlet, hopefully, more constructive.  If not, then the “pack leader” should find him/herself on the outside.

In the long run, we will always have bullies.  How we raise our children and how we behave as adults could go a long way to curb the trend.  Teach your children well!

Eight of 33 Trapped Miners Rescued in Chile

After 69 days trapped in a collapsed mine, 33 Chilean miners are being pulled back to the surface one-by-one in an escape capsule, as family members and countrymen cheer on their arrival.

Eight men were pulled out in the first hours of the apparently problem-free operation in the Chile’s Atacama desert — a drama that saw the world captivated by the miners’ endurance and unity as officials meticulously prepared their rescue.

First out was Florencio Avalos, who wore sunglasses to protect him from the glare of bright lights. He smiled broadly as he emerged and hugged his sobbing 7-year-old son, Bairon, and wife, then got a bearhug from Chilean President Sebastian Pinera shortly after midnight local time.

Watched the live streaming of the first man out on Fox News online. The joy of the family made me think of another rescue, that had the whole world watching as well, on October 14, 1987. The two rescues themselves really don’t have much in common, other than being underground, and the world praying. A praying world is a good thing.

Watching Mr Avalos hugging his little boy made me cry, and to praise God.  Without the gifts that God has given us, there wouldn’t be the knowledge to have kept these men alive underground for 69 days.  Give credit, where credit is due, and thank those who used the brain they were gifted with to aid in this rescue!

Update: As you go about your day, keep these men and their families in your thoughts and prayers.  God grant the rescuers strength and wisdom.

Update update: The 13th man has reached the surface!  20 to go, plus those that went down to help.

Susan G. Koman Has A Problem

Komen breast cancer charity provides funding for Planned Parenthood

The Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation is a breast cancer awareness powerhouse. As its influence has grown, so too have the number of its critics, who, while appreciative of the group’s good works, cringe at the fact that some of the donations to Komen end up in the coffers of abortion provider Planned Parenthood.

In addition to the debate over the propriety of allocating money to Planned Parenthood, some groups allege that studies prove abortions and certain oral contraceptives can cause breast cancer — while organizations such as Komen deny such links.

Since learning several years ago the connection between abortions and the incidents of breast cancer, then the connection between Komen and Planned Parenthood, I started questioning their motives.  Do such organizations even care about the lives they are destroying?

- An induced abortion raises a woman’s chance of getting breast cancer before age 45 by 50%. If done before age 18, it increases 150%; if after age 30, it’s up 110%.

- A woman with a family member with breast cancer who had her first abortion after 30 years increased her risk 270%.

- All 12 women in the study with a family history of breast cancer, who aborted before age 18 — all 12 — got breast cancer before age 45.
(source)

How often are those women who choose to kill their baby told that they are increasing their chances of breast cancer?  This seems like one of those organizations that seems good on the surface, but is, in reality, is aiding in the increase of the destructiveness of abortions.  Claims the the money is never mingled doesn’t deny the fact that children are being killed with SGK’s knowledge, and perhaps, approval?

For more information on the connection between abortions and breast cancer, do some investigating on your own.  Here’s a start.

Airport Solutions

12 October 2010, 3:00 pm. 2 Comments. Filed under Just Cuz.

Here’s a solution to all the controversy over full-body scanners at the airports.

Have a booth that you can step into that will not X-ray you, but will detonate any explosive device you may have on you.

It would be a win-win for everyone, and there would be none of this crap about racial profiling, and this method would eliminate a long and expensive trial. Justice would be quick and swift. Case closed!

This is so simple that it’s brilliant. I can see it now: you’re in the airport terminal and you hear a muffled explosion. Shortly thereafter an announcement comes over the PA system, “Attention
standby passengers — we now have a seat available on flight number…”

Works for me too! :D

How the Obama Tax Hikes Affect You
The Foundry

Yesterday, Time Magazine senior political analyst Mark Halperin wrote: “With the exception of core Obama Administration loyalists, most politically engaged elites have reached the same conclusions: the White House is in over its head, isolated, insular, arrogant and clueless about how to get along with or persuade members of Congress, the media, the business community or working-class voters.” As if to prove Halperin’s point, Vice President Joe Biden told a group of Democratic donors in Seattle Friday: “The Recovery Act didn’t do enough because we couldn’t spend enough.”

Strange Signal Comes From Alien Planet, Scientist Says

The recent discovery of Gliese 581g, an alien planet in the habitable zone of another star, has been an exciting development for scientists probing the galaxy for signs of extraterrestrial life. At least one claim of a possible signal from the planet has already surfaced – and been met with harsh skepticism among the science community.

Following the Sept. 29 announcement of the discovery of Gliese 581g, astronomer Ragbir Bhathal, a scientist at the University of Western Sydney, claimed to have detected a suspicious pulse of light nearly two years ago, that came from the same area of the galaxy as the location of Gliese 581g, according to the U.K.’s Daily Mail online. [Alien Planet Gliese581g: FAQ]

“Whenever there’s a clear night, I go up to the observatory and do a run on some of the celestial objects,” Bhathal told the Daily Mail. “Looking at one of these objects, we found this signal. We found this very sharp signal, sort of a laser lookalike thing which is the sort of thing we’re looking for – a very sharp spike. And that is what we found.”

Ya ever get the feeling that perhaps these people spend so much time waiting and listening, all by their lonesome, that, perhaps….

“I know the scientist, and when he first announced it, I asked him for the details, and he wouldn’t send them to me,” astronomer and SETI pioneer Frank Drake told SPACE.com. “I’m very suspicious.”

Yep.  So am I!  But wouldn’t it be cool?  :D

Guilty!

Jury finds Jessie Dotson guilty on all nine counts in Lester Street trial

After hearing 13 days of often disturbing testimony about the murders of six men, women and children, a jury Monday took just 90 minutes to convict defendant Jessie Dotson on all counts and make him eligible for the death penalty.

The Criminal Court jury of nine women and three men from Nashville returned their Lester Street verdicts — six counts of first-degree murder, three counts of attempted first-degree murder — in a packed courtroom that included a heavy presence of deputies, both in uniform and in plainclothes.

In the audience were two of the young victims in the 2008 case, Cecil “CJ” Dotson Jr., now 11, and his brother, Cedric Dotson, now 8, who survived severe stabbings and testified that their “Uncle Junior,” the defendant, was responsible for the attacks at 722 Lester Street.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy! If anyone deserves the death penalty, it’s this garbage!  I’ve no doubt there are many in West Tennessee that want to see swift justice.  No 20 years sitting behind bars, living off the taxpayers.  One bullet, in the heart (I’d prefer between they eyes)!  It won’t bring back those children he murdered, but at least those remaining won’t ever have to fear he’d get out to harm them.

Uncle Ted Lays It Out

Obama’s mojo is missing
by Ted Nugent

President Obama is desperately trying to recapture his political mojo. Recognizing that support for him and the Democrats is crumbling, the president has held rallies in Madison, Wis., and Philadelphia.

The air of excitement fueled by the golden-tongued orator is gone. Reality has set in among many of those who were swept up with Mr. Obama’s “hope and change” smoke and mirrors.

The reality many of his early supporters are realizing is that there never really was anything there with the message or the messenger. Both are hot air and hollow bromides. Reality can be ugly and brutal. This is not the transparency Mr. Obama was talking about, but we’ll take it.

Whatever political capital he had on Inauguration Day has evaporated. The tank is running on empty. Democratic candidates are running away from him and the programs he has championed. Political moderates are wishing they could take back their vote. The GOP smells blood in the water and is licking its political chops.

The only really strong base the president continues to enjoy is black Americans, who are suffering the worst economically and jobwise because they looked to Mr. Obama and others for their hope instead of themselves. Unemployment among black Americans is around 15 percent, while the overall unemployment rate is about 10 percent. Fifty percent of black teenagers are jobless. That’s how a culture of safety nets operates. Know it.

His “Christian Faith”?

11 October 2010, 2:34 pm. Comments Off. Filed under Communism, Faith, Opinion, Socialism, The ONE.

‘O,’ he of little faith

In light of the fact that an increasing number of Americans are questioning his faith, President Obama has apparently been told by his advisors to ratchet up the Jesus talk. So at a staged event in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Obama complied by responding to a question about why he became a Christian.

“I came to my Christian faith later in life and it was because the precepts of Jesus Christ spoke to me in terms of the kind of life that I would want to lead,” he explained, adding that he was moved by the thought of “being my brothers’ and sisters’ keeper.”

One has to wonder whether such an answer was really what his advisors wanted. After all, who would ever suggest that the president use the biblical phrase “being my brothers’ keeper,” when his actual half-brother (blood-related) resides in a shack in Kenya?

If I may be so bold, I think this strained proclamation of faith by the president is far more about a Machiavellian manipulation of the masses (trying to convince people he’s something that he’s not) than it is about a devotion to the teachings of Christ. In other words, I call bull.

Me too.  BIG piles of bull…..droppings!  Black liberation theology is NOT Christianity!

Black Liberation theologians James Cone and Cornel West have worked diligently to embed Marxist thought into the black church since the 1970s. For Cone, Marxism best addressed remedies to the condition of blacks as victims of white oppression.

I won’t deny there was oppression of black citizens in the past. History proves it! From my own experience growing up in the South, I saw the evidence…..separate water fountains, separate seating on buses, separate public restrooms, etc. Black Americans weren’t allowed to go in certain stores. No one can deny there was an ignorance that permeated all aspects of life in the 50s and into the 60s. As the 70s came along, things had improved, but we still had steps to advance. What more than just chaps my hide, those who claim to be for the oppressed, do nothing more than work hard to KEEP them oppressed, if only in their own minds. In the XX some odd years I’ve been on this planet, I have seen MANY changes. Some for the good, many not so good. All men, and women, should be equal under the law. NO ONE should be more equal than others.  Unfortunately, what we’ve seen is an unequal playing field become the norm.  Because you are a certain color, you aren’t capable of achieving success on your own?  HOGWASH!  Every one has the opportunity to succeed, or fail, on their own.

Barack Obama’s social gospel of government-sponsored theft is a flat contradiction to what Jesus taught.

There is no way to reconcile “liberal Christian”. It can’t be done. You are either one, or you are the other. You can’t be both!

In other words, while Mr. Obama is very interested in being charitable with your money, he’s pretty stingy with his own. While you may find that in the teachings of Marx, you won’t find it in the precepts of Jesus.

I challenge those who believe that the government is concerned with charity. I also challenge anyone to find in the Bible where Jesus said to give all your worldly possessions to the government, that said entity can use your hard earned income for charity better than you.

Treason

11 October 2010, 10:49 am. Comments Off. Filed under Borders, Crime, Dhimmicrats, Feckless Weasels, Male Bovine Excrement, The ONE, U.S. Constitution.

Personally, I don’t give a flying flip what Mexico, Bolivia, or any other Spanish speaking countries have to say. For our elected officials, and DoJ, to side WITH foreign countries against the citizens of the United States is beyond treasonous in my book!

TREASON

This word imports a betraying, treachery, or breach of allegiance.

The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort. This offence is punished with death. By the same article of the Constitution, no person shall be convicted of treason, unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.

Punishment

…such person or persons shall be adjudged guilty of treason against the United States, and SHALL SUFFER DEATH;…

I think there are a lot more than two persons.

No, I’m not calling for the death of ANYONE! I am simply pointing out what OUR Constitution has to say, and the punishment called for by law.
