Nashville

11 November 2010, 9:03 am. Comments Off. Filed under Just Cuz, Travel.

When we found out that the Mr had to come back to Vanderbilt, we decided, since it was a late afternoon appointment, and I really do NOT like driving any distance in the dark, we’d just spend the night in Nashville.  Easier said that done.  Every motel I checked had a minimum of a 2 nights stays, or was totally booked.  Couldn’t figure this one out.  :?   Well, I finally found a room, one night, smoking room, two double beds.  Hey…we’re old…it works.  :D

Got to the motel, after numerous stops, which I won’t go into, to find that the place was packed, and we were really lucky to get a room.  Why?  Well, evidently, last night was a big night for country music, and of course, Nashville being the Music City, there were over dressed country music fans all over the place.  Even tiny people were seen all decked out in the country duds, being pushed in strollers by mom’s that had more make up on than a rodeo clown.  What’s up with that?  Hmmm…

After a great dinner at Demo’s, which I HIGHLY recommend, I thought it would be a good idea if we took a leisurely stroll back to the motel.  We didn’t have internet, so what was the rush?  And it was only 2 blocks up, and 6 blocks over, right?  The crowds didn’t seem as big on the street, so it should be an easy walk.  Well, not many till we got a block from the arena.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many limos, buses, and women in very spiked high heels, walking on the uneven sidewalk, in one place in my life.  What a hoot!  The biggest crowd wasn’t the line waiting to get into to see the show.  No, the biggest crowd was standing around the doors of a bar.  Hmm…  Haven’t figured that one out, and I failed to get a picture of it.

Wish I had gotten a shot of that Rolls limo.  Seen Rolls Royce before, even got a ride in one once….that old fashioned kind….yellow….it was cool….but I’d never seen a Rolls Royce limo.  Sucker looked more sturdy than any vehicle on the roads today, kind of like a tank.  :?

So, I over estimated the Mr’s ability to walk more than just a short distance, so we stopped an rested on the uphill stretch quite a few times.  That’s ok.  It was a rather pleasant night, 65 degrees, so I didn’t mind waiting for him to catch his breath.  :D   Sorry ’bout that hunnie!

No, we didn’t see any ‘stars’.  Wasn’t really looking for any.  I did overhear one young lady talking about who she saw….none of whom I had ever heard of.  LOL  Reckon I’m getting old?

We did make it back to the motel in time to see Dennis Miller on O’Reilly, which is the Mr’s favorite part, so all is well.  :)

Internet

Well, this morning, I decided to check to see if the motel had gotten the internet connection fixed.  First try, same problem.  So, I located a connection with fewer bars and gave that a shot!  Voila!  I’m online.  Withdrawal symptoms have come to an abrupt stop! Heh.

Repeal the 26th Amendment!
by Ann Coulter

Jimmy Carter was such an abominable president we got Ronald Reagan, tax cuts, a booming economy and the destruction of the Soviet Union.

Two years of Bill Clinton and a Democratic Congress got us the first Republican Congress in half a century, followed by tax cuts, welfare reform and a booming economy –- all of which Clinton now claims credit for.

Obama’s disastrous presidency has already produced Republican senators from Massachusetts, Wisconsin and Illinois; New Jersey’s wonder-governor Chris Christie; and the largest House majority for Republicans since 1946.

Ensconced in a motel in Nashville that has internet attitude. What is it with HI and my computer? Well, it’s not just mine. The Mr’s won’t connect either, even though it says the connection is “excellent”. PFFT! We’ll be home tomorrow, so life will return to semi normal. I hope.

November 10, 1775

10 November 2010, 10:00 am. 8 Comments. Filed under Heroes, U.S. Military.

On November 10, 1775, the Continental Congress meeting in Philadelphia passed a resolution stating that “two Battalions of Marines be raised” for service as landing forces with the fleet. This resolution, established the Continental Marines and marked the birth date of the United States Marine Corps. Serving on land and at sea, these first Marines distinguished themselves in a number of important operations, including their first amphibious raid into the Bahamas in March 1776, under the command of Captain (later Major) Samuel Nicholas. Nicholas, the first commissioned officer in the Continental Marines, remained the senior Marine officer throughout the American Revolution and is considered to be the first Marine Commandant. The Treaty of Parris in April 1783 brought an end to the Revolutionary War and as the last of the Navy’s ships were sold, the Continental Navy and Marines went out of existence.

Following the Revolutionary War and the formal re-establishment of the Marine Corps on 11 July 1798, Marines saw action in the quasi-war with France, landed in Santo Domingo, and took part in many operations against the Barbary pirates along the “Shores of Tripoli”. Marines participated in numerous naval operations during the War of 1812, as well as participating in the defense of Washington at Bladensburg, Maryland, and fought alongside Andrew Jackson in the defeat of the British at New Orleans. The decades following the War of 1812 saw the Marines protecting American interests around the world, in the Caribbean, at the Falkland Islands, Sumatra and off the coast of West Africa, and also close to home in the operations against the Seminole Indians in Florida. “Some people wonder all their lives if they’ve made a difference. The Marines don’t have that problem.”

Drinkin’ My Coffee…. Reading a Few Items

These people are total scumbags, and I really hope they throw them UNDER the jail!

This would explain why there were so many cars at the courthouse yesterday.

Maybe thngs aren’t going to swuft, but I don’t think a Commie ‘rater’ has much sway, in the grand scheme of things.  Well, at least so far.

Reality doesn’t seem to be a large part of Obama’s world.

At the rate we execute convicted murderers, it might be 120 years before they get around to this one.

I will never never understand how a mother can murder her own children.  I don’t want to.

I am really happy they got this scum ball!

But we don’t want expanded ties with Muslims.

Since the Federal Reserve’s charter expires in 2012, can’t we just NOT renew it?

Interesting idea.  Always did like Reince.  :)   One smart cookie!

Perhaps it’s past time to oust quite a few judges?

The only way we’re going to have a recovery is if we stop the push of failed socialist policies.  Hey…wait a minute!  Didn’t they tell us we already had the recovery?  As in the “Summer of Recovery“?

Mohamed Mohamed Mohamud? Really?  Wonder if he’s a pedophile too?  He and his buds sure appear to be a murderous thugs.

Time, and time again, voters have said NO.  Yet, they still keep pushing it.  I guess Obama was right.  We really aren’t a nation with Judeo-Christian values anymore.  Well, at least those in ‘leadership’ positions aren’t.

We already know the dangers.  Don’t these people have something better to do?

I don’t know about that.  I rather doubt the UK would imprison a Nobel Peace Prize winner.  I’d have to disagree…the UK IS morally superior.

Couldn’t they have kept him grounded for a few days?

I’m curious.  Just why won’t Democrats stand up to that woman?  Do they really believe she is what is best for the country?

Imported Criminals

Somalis charged with sex trafficking

Nashville apartments and hotels served as hubs for the forced prostitution of underage girls by Somali gangs operating here and in Minnesota, a federal indictment says.

Federal prosecutors on Monday indicted 29 suspected gang members in a wide-ranging sex trafficking operation that regularly ferried young girls and women from Minnesota to Nashville and elsewhere to be paid for sex.

Over the past two years, authorities discovered that at least four underage girls were forced to have sex for money and, in at least one case, were sexually assaulted.

Don’t we have enough home grown animals without importing them from other countries? As of 2009, “150,000 Somalis now live in the U.S., most in larger cities like Minneapolis, Nashville, Boston, Seattle and Columbus, Ohio”.

“The sexual exploitation of minors is an abomination and has no place in America,” Morton said. “It is a crime in which the powerful prey on and abuse the weak. Young lives are compromised; futures are destroyed.”

Yet, the U.S. government has imported people from cultures that do just that….prey on the weak, and sexually exploit children. Kind of hypocritical, IMHO.

Omar Jamal, an advocate for Somalis in Minnesota, said the allegations shocked the Somali community, whose members pointed out Islam forbids such activity.

Give me a flippin’ break! “Temporary marriages”? Marrying off children to old men? It appears to me that Islam actually opens the door for such actions!

So for whatever you have had of pleasure (Istamta’tum) with them by the contract, give unto them their appointed wages as a duty. (source)

Sounds like prostitution.  Raping small children is ok too.

ENOUGH!  We have enough problems with raving lunatics, home grown.  We don’t need a bunch of garbage from Muslim countries coming in adding to our problems.  My compassion is at an end!  Round them all up, put them on a boat, plane, raft even, and send them back where they came from, and they can take their violent cult with them!

STD Test? There’s an App for That

British health officials are hard at work on a new app that will allow users to pee into their cell phones and find out within minutes if they have an STD.

Seriously, we could not make this stuff up if we tried.

According to The Guardian, £4 million have been invested in the UK Clinical Research Collaboration, which is creating a smartphone app that will allow users, “to put urine or saliva on to a computer chip about the size of a USB chip, plug it into their phone or computer and receive a diagnosis within minutes.”

Seriously?  I’ve got an even better way to make sure you DON’T have an STD.  Stop boinking everything that moves!  It just means you’re a slut (male and female)!

I Don’t Have a Problem Defining It

9 November 2010, 8:45 am. 2 Comments. Filed under Communism, Dhimmicrats, Feckless Weasels, Opinion, Socialism.

It’s real simple!

Liberal=Progressive=Socialist=Communist

See?  Simple.  Granted, there are varying degrees of the process, but in the end, it all comes down to the same thing……evil!  Now, some folks might dispute my definition, and that’s just fine.  I know what I see, and what I see is evil!  As one commenter said:

I don’t have any trouble defining progressivism: it’s a virus of the cerebellum caused by contact with undiluted Marxism as spread by Wilson and others who were inexplicably smitten by Russia’s Great Experiment.

Early victims of the dreaded “progressivism syndrome” touted the benefits of this disease of the cognitive processes until they were rendered mute or worse incoherent by its ravages, and while subsequent generations of the afflicted have tried desperately to disconnect from any evidence of its Marxist roots as communism has fallen ever further into disrepute.

This effort to disconnect from its roots has turned progressivism into a stealth religion practiced underground, much like the Christian church in Stalinist Russia.

Fortunately, today’s revisionist historians (revisionism isn’t a dirty word, rather it defines the very purpose of history, that of updating perspective as evidence rolls in), are turning back the years and revealing the lies.

President Obama Surprised by Political Cost of Health Care Law

President Barack Obama says the political cost of overhauling the health care system turned out to be higher than he had expected. And he admits that he gets discouraged at times when dealing with the economy.

In an interview airing Sunday night on CBS’ “60 Minutes,” Obama said the health care system itself is huge and complicated and that changing it eluded previous presidents because it was so difficult.

“I made the decision to go ahead and do it, and it proved as costly politically as we expected — probably actually a little more costly than we expected, politically,” he said.

Just which part of ‘HELL F’ING NO!’ confused him?  We said NO, we mean NO!  It’s not that complicated.  Bubba, YOU work for US!  NOT the other way around.  Get a clue!

Get to Work Stopping the Obama Tax Hikes
The Foundry

Last night, during a taped interview with 60 Minutes, President Barack Obama told Steve Kroft: “I thought the economy would have gotten better by now. One of the things I think you understand as president is you’re held responsible for everything. But you don’t always have control of everything.” President Obama is right: presidents often do get too much of the credit and too much of the blame for the economic performance of the country. But there is one aspect of the economy that President Obama does have control over: taxes. And at a time when our nation’s unemployment still hovers around 10%, President Obama’s tax plan raises taxes by $1.8 trillion over the next 10 years.
