Honestly, I think this is probably the best thing Chris has ever written.  She is expressing what so many of us have said, time and time again, and has done it REAL well.  Please, go read!

Some in Senate GOP Call DeMint “Undertaker” not “Kingmaker”

Boy are some Senate Republicans unhappy with Jim DeMint. They had a good night by any measure, picking up six seats from Democrats, but it is clear a number are holding the South Carolina senator personally responsible for keeping those numbers from rising even higher, possibly even from taking control of the chamber.

One could forgive House Democrats for beating each other up after last night’s thumping (or, as Obama called it, “a shellacking”). Senate Democrats, as well, even though they did retain the majority and their leader. But Senate Republicans?

DeMint set out in 2008 to get “principled conservatives” elected – many who were not the chosen candidates of the establishment. At times, that even seemed to be the goal, as he happily bucked his leadership, saying raucous primaries were good for the party. DeMint told his growing cadre of supporters he wanted to harness the power of the Tea Party, and he started endorsing conservatives, 11 in all, in the 2010 race (the list is here). Many won their primaries, leading some to call DeMint a “king maker.”

But not everyone in his party agrees. “He should be called the undertaker, not the kingmaker,” said one senior Senate GOP aide on Wednesday, who added, “You could call it a big night for the Club for Growth, but not for Jim DeMint.”

I’m getting the impression that the establishment GOP aren’t happy? Well, too freakin’ bad! WE, The People worked damn hard to get more of those with an “R” behind their names into office, and should be damn happy THEY still have a job. Next time around, they might not if they don’t get their heads out of their collective hinders!

Yeah, there were some losses that should not have been.  Reid for example, due to the push by the casino “bosses” (Harrah’s has lost our business, btw).  O’Donnell didn’t have a united state party behind her, which was WRONG of them.  She was obviously better versed in the Constitution than her opponent!  And Ken Buck?  Well, to be honest, I didn’t follow a lot about him, so I can’t say what the heck happened there.  Perhaps someone who is more familiar can clue me in?

IF, the GOP had listened when we told them (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009) they were moving away from their principles, and joined with US, then perhaps at least 2 of those candidates would have come out victorious.  The smears of the left have been vicious, there’s no denying it! And many such smears worked.  But, I’m thinking there are way too many voters who don’t bother to investigate the candidates as thoroughly as they should, which makes for ignorant voters, and the wrong candidates being elected.

As for the criticism of Jim DeMint?  Piss off!  Y’all should be damn happy to have a man with a BACKBONE standing up for the principles YOU should be upholding.  The principles we DEMAND you return to.  Screw that big tent you tried to push on conservatives.  It didn’t work, and y’all either play by OUR rules now, or find yourselves other means of employment!

IMHO, Bad Idea

Savannah to Consider Sunday Beer Sales

The City of Savannah will weigh amendments and deletions to the current City ordinance that prohibit beer sales on Sunday, according to a preliminary agenda reviewed today.

The amended provisions to Savannah’s beer ordinance may also allow for “special event” permit holders to sell beer in designated areas, in a non-profit capacity. The changes to Savannah’s beer laws would effectively allow area non-profit groups to serve beer at annual functions like the Main Street Concert, the Rodeo and other large annual events in the city limits.

Currently, package stores and retail outlets with a beer permit can only sell beer in Savannah from the hours of 6 AM until 12 midnight, Monday through Saturday. Residents of Savannah must travel outside the city limits to buy beer on Sunday, where package stores and retail permit holders are allowed to sell beer from 7 AM to 8 PM in Hardin County.

If you really want beer, why not buy it on Saturday, or any other day of the week?  Maybe I’m just a wee bit old fashioned, but I actually remember a time when the only thing that was open on a Sunday were restaurants, and that was only AFTER church.

We don’t actually live in Savannah, but what goes on there does affect the rest of the area.  There are enough drunk driving incidents, domestic violence, etc., without adding to the problem.  It’s only one day out of the week, why can’t we leave it as what it was intended?  Just a thought.

Ann on the Election

We’re All Bigots Now!
by Ann Coulter

After Tuesday’s election, the fresh new faces of the Democratic Party are … Harry Reid and Jerry Brown! (Who had the worst election night? Chuck Schumer, who’s been waiting in the wings to replace Reid as Senate majority leader. Who had the second worst election night? The people who live below Barney Frank’s apartment.)

With the addition of new Republican senators Ron Johnson (Wisconsin), Rand Paul (Kentucky) and Marco Rubio (Florida) — among others — the average IQ of Senate Republicans has just increased by about 20 points. Also, liberals won’t have Sharron Angle to kick around anymore. Now that Angle, Christine O’Donnell, Meg Whitman and Carly Fiorina are gone, Keith Olbermann is indefinitely suspending his “Worst Persons of the World” segment.

Republicans added two magnificent new black faces to the Congress with Allen West in Florida, who beat sore loser Ron Klein 54.3 percent to 45.7 percent (with 97 percent counted, Klein wouldn’t concede), and Tim Scott in South Carolina, who crushed Democrat Ben Frasier, 65-29.

Oh Yeah…..Always “Classy”

Speaker Pelosi defends Dem record in reaction to historic loss

Outgoing Speaker Nancy Pelosi defended the record of House Democrats as she offered her first reaction to the lopsided loss of her party’s majority.

“Over the last four years, the Democratic majority in the House took courageous action on behalf of America’s middle class to create jobs and save the country from the worst economic catastrophe since the Great Depression,” Pelosi said in a statement issued after 1 a.m. Eastern.

Uh….excuse me Mzzzzzzzzzzzz Pelosi, but it seems to me you can’t prove a negative. However, we CAN see the results of YOUR disastrous agenda. And where’s the congratulations for a hard fought battle victory? Ah yes, Queen Nanny….gracious as ever. /snark

I’ve been doing some contemplation on the election results last night. Many are saying this is a referendum on the POTUS’ agenda. While, I do believe that to be true, I also believer that it is also a referendum on Pelosi herself. She has not been a leader, but a brow beater, arm twister and any other term you can think of for such a person.  there is some speculation that she will step down, and perhaps even resign from the House.  Fat chance!  The woman can’t read the handwriting on the wall.  Honestly, I’ll be real surprised if she does the honorable thing, but I don’t think she knows the meaning of honor.

A New Day

3 November 2010, 8:55 am. 3 Comments. Filed under 2010.

Before people start doing the Snoopy Dance too vigorously, remember, this is just one battle.  We are still waging the war against socialism!

Here are just a few headlines I’ve come across so far this morning:

Right turn: Republicans make gains nationally and in Mid-South

Beaten badly and portrayed as endangered and irrelevant two years ago, Republicans rolled to a vast national victory in congressional elections Tuesday night, transforming swaths of blue Democratic territory on political maps into GOP red.

Sadly, one of my favorite little ladies didn’t win. I don’t think I’ll ever understand the Memphis voters mindset. :?

House party for triumphant GOP

Republicans rode a wave of voter anger and frustration last night to wrest the House from Democratic control in a historic landslide — and deal a body blow to President Obama’s agenda.

Jerry Brown wins governor’s race

“It looks like I’m going back again,” said the state attorney general speaking to a crowd of thousands of excited Democrats at the historic Fox Theater in Oakland – the city he led as mayor for two terms and where he still resides. “They haven’t got all the votes in, but hell – it’s good enough for government work,” he joked to laughs, shortly after 11 p.m.

Jerry Brown needs to get a REAL job, in the REAL world. :?   Do the idjits in California really believe someone who has done NOTHING but live off the taxpayer his entire life really give a happy crap about THEIR lives?

Gov. Quinn: ‘I believe we have won’

“The people have won, and I believe we have won,” the governor told supporters shortly before 1 a.m.

“We know there are more votes to be counted, but we are 10,933 ahead,” he said to applause and screams of joy. “And I’d rather be ahead than 10,933 behind. So it looks like another landslide victory is headed our way.”

Landslide?

‘Yes, we did’

In a signature display of tactical prowess and tenacity, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s methodical and at-times Machiavellian campaign plan, years in the making, allowed him to survive an anti-incumbent wave Tuesday, in which his party lost control of the U.S. House and left him with a thin majority in the U.S. Senate.

Reid not only overcame the lethally-low approval rating that had pundits locally and nationally declaring his pursuit of a fifth term hopeless, but also successfully inoculated himself against the fervent Tea Party movement that had found a champion in Republican challenger Sharron Angle.

Yeah….he did, and looking at the counties he did win, I’m thinking fraud. UNION fraud!

Texas Republicans maintain firm grip on statewide offices

Then someone PLEASE explain this: WAY too much blue for this to be the Texas I remember!

Wisconsin only state where Democrats lost governor, Senate seat, Legislature

On a night when America turned from blue to red, few states swung harder than Wisconsin, where Republicans experienced their greatest electoral gains in decades, picking up a governor, Democrat Russ Feingold’s U.S. Senate seat, both state legislative chambers and two U.S. House seats.

Now THIS is reason to do the Snoopy Dance. I’m more than pickled tink! But naturally, the Urinal Sentinel just had to insert skin color into the whole thing:

A battleground state that Barack Obama dominated two years ago dealt him and his party a sharp political rebuke Tuesday, as Democrats lost ground with one key voting group after another – independents, blue-collar whites, suburbanites. (emphasis mine)

The same paper that refuses to identify criminals by color?  *shakes head*

Arizona joins wave of discontent with D.C.

Worried and often angry voters in Arizona and across the nation gave Republicans broad new power in Congress Tuesday, rejecting Democratic incumbents in what GOP leaders say is a rebuke of President Barack Obama.

Yup! We’ve been none too happy with the socialist agenda!

Allen West defeats Ron Klein

In the end, it wasn’t even close. At 11 p.m., challenger West was well ahead of the Democratic incumbent. Just over 20 minutes later, West declared victory.

Wait a minute. I thought all conservatives were racists. How did this happen? /snark

If you want some real entertainment, check out some of the lefty blogs. Talk about your sour grapes. Sheesh! We, on the right, are always suppose to be gracious in defeat, which we are. Not happy, but gracious. Those on the left are petulant children, and refuse to accept their agenda has been rejected. Time to grow up people!

It’s NOT time to gloat! Well, maybe just a little, but the hard work is before us. The House majority is being put on notice. If you return to the old ways, your asses will be booted OUT too! We are no longer complacent!

Watching Returns…..

…..more or less.  To be totally honest, I’m not really paying that much attention.  Just catching the projections, and it’s looking good.  I can’t change the results, but I am interested in ‘em.

Honestly, I’m extremely happy the Mr and I voted early.  He’s in Vanderbilt, and I’m in a motel.  Joy.  Didn’t we just get home not too long ago?  :?   I’ve got Fox, and he doesn’t.  What’s up with that?

So far, it looks like Rand, Coats and Rubio have it in the bag.  This is a good thing!  I’m thinking Bill Haslam is going to be our new governor.  Well, from the numbers I’ve seen so far, he is.  :D

By the way, if you haven’t voted, and your polls are still open…..MOVE IT!  NOW!

VOTE FOR FREEDOM!

A Republican victory will not solve all the problems that have been pushed on us, but it’s a darn good step in the right direction. However, WE, The People, are putting the Republican Party on notice too! You take an oath to uphold the Constitution. DO IT! If you, once again, behave as the previous elected officials have done, you will also be kicked out on your keisters!

Vote wisely!

Reality Smack Down

1 November 2010, 5:34 pm. 4 Comments. Filed under Opinion.

Nope!  Nothing to do with politics.  I’ll be out of pocket, for the most part, for the next day or two.  Oh, I’ll be around, but not to the extent I’d normally be.  An explanation will be forthcoming at some point, but for right now….

Yep…reality seriously sucks sometimes.
