Senate Blocks Repeal of ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’
Senate Republicans have blocked legislation that would have repealed the military’s policy of “don’t ask, don’t tell” and allowed gay troops to serve openly.
Democrats failed Thursday to cinch a procedural deal with Republicans in the waning days of the lame-duck session. The 57-40 test vote fell three votes short of the 60 needed to advance.
Don’t, for one minute, assume this will quietly go away. Rest assured, there will be more battles ahead.
That being said…my 2 cents. I honestly don’t care if you are gay or not! That is between you and God. How you deal with your sexuality…..your business too. When it comes to the fighting men and women, shouldn’t THEY decide if they can share quarters with a homosexual? Many seem to be very against the idea of serving with openly the gay. Why not listen to them? Don’t ask a bunch of yahoos sitting behind a desk who probably wouldn’t know what to do with the business end of a bayonet. Ask the ones who are actually doing the fighting, and dying!
Personally, I am against it, but then again, I’m against women fighting in combat, too. But, that’s just me.

In my first overseas to Germany my best friend was a gay schoolteacher from Tennessee, since I had lived such a sheltered life in the mountains of north Georgia I did not know he was gay. He was a great guy and a good soldier, and a desk jockey not sure I would have wanted to share a foxhole.
I’d have no problem rooming with a gay GUY.
Past that….I just don’t know.
