An Ol' Broad's Ramblings
More Thinking Out Loud
I’m not sure the left can be taught. I keep reading how they are all bent out of shape about “tax breaks”, “tax cuts”, yada yada. Well, are they not aware these are NOT cuts? Nothing would change. The rates would stay exactly as they are now. Period. The biggest problem I see where they are whining about increasing the deficit with keeping the tax rates the same, is their spending problem.
You see….if you don’t have money….you don’t spend it. It’s really quite simple. Does the average person go out and buy a Rolls Royce when all they can afford is a Malibu? Of course not. The banks wouldn’t lend them the money for the Rolls, and we shouldn’t be footing the bill for all the ills of the world either. We don’t have the money. It appears to me that the left is not very forward looking, in the grand scheme of things. Sadly, there are some on the ‘right’, who are actually on the ‘right’, but more to the left of the middle in a great many areas, who have folded to the clarion call of “LET’S GO SHOPPING!”
The federal government does not have one single dime to it’s name. Nothing. Zip. Zero. What they are spending on their fatback projects is OUR money. Money they take from OUR pockets, put in to a big pile, and decide whose fatback is more worthy, and what they’ll get in return for said LARGE lumps of money. Usually, it’s more political power, and provides nothing for the common good of the nation.
Defense and roads. That’s pretty much it. How they ever got the idea that the taxpayers in one state should pay for some project in another state, that has nothing to do with their common good, is totally beyond me. And it needs to be stopped! NOW! Didn’t we say so in November? I thought we had, but I guess, as usual, no one is listening. I suggest the start by cleaning the wax out of their ears.
Here are a few examples of how they believe they should spend my money (source):
$1.7 MILLION was requested by outgoing WI Rep. Obey for a training center at a Tech school. Now, while this may be a noble gesture on his part, for his district, it does nothing to enhance the folks in say, South Carolina, or Alaska. Why should the residents of either state pay for something they will never be able to use?
I’m really sorry that Spokane, WA has a blighted area, but perhaps Murray and Cantrell should remember all cities have some blighted areas, to the tune of $2 MILLION, and it really is up to the citizens of the area to fix the problem. Yet Murray only requested $200,000 to help our vets? Veterans ARE a national treasure, and anything we can do to aid them, after they have given so much to, and for, us, should and MUST be done.
A cool $1 MILLION for La Raza? I don’t flippin’ think so!
Oh, the list is long and varied, but this will give you some idea of just how they are screwing the taxpayers. If they are concerned about deficit spending, the first thing to do…..STOP SPENDING!
(The Washington Times has a pretty good editorial this morning, Lame Duck on Steroids, well worth the read.)
Just HAVE to add this one!
Yep…you read that right….that is BILLION!

“their spending problem”
Indeed!!!
The deficit is NOT the disease, their spending is the disease and the deficit is only a symptom of THEIR disease.
Also; if it so important to raise taxes on the folks that make more money, why didn’t they do that last year or the year before or the year before that???
Leftards will never learn.
I honestly don’t know what it’s going to take to wake them up. I just hope they can stall this until the “L” gives up and wants to go home for eggnog. I read this morning that DeMint had backed down on reading the whole thing (disappointing) but then read later that it was back on. I just hope we have some intestinal fortitude in the “R” side of the aisle. Cornyn is co-sponsoring the one page gov’t continuation bill, and I hope they go that route. I need an eggnog – spiked!!
Emanuel Cleaver? You’ve got to be kidding. The mother of all earmarks – and he chooses now to give it a shot. Did this idiot come from Harvard or from under a rock?
Re: The last minute before Christmas funding bill overall, my guess is the Republicans will let it thru. We’ll see. So far there has been no spine in sight. Jim DeMint says he will force a reading, then he won’t, but he will if they don’t do something about the earmarks, but then again he won’t if they talk nice. Geez. Where’s the backbone?
Bump
I’m wondering if they really do want an armed insurrection.
If they are concerned about deficit spending, the first thing to do…..STOP SPENDING!
That pretty much doesn’t leave anything else to say, does it? Short, concise, pointed, one and two syllable words (except deficit), even Congress should be able to understand that …
Nice job!!
*curtsy*
You realize, of course, expecting those fools up there in the swamp to use the common sense God granted them is, well….. come to think of it, they must have rejected that gift.
Sorry placed my first comment in wrong section.

Remember the housing bubble? There are a lot of under average people out there!
Heh. I was wondering about that. Thought you were trying to confuse me!
I’ll delete it, K?
I remember hearing about people I KNEW could not afford to buy a certain house, but ranted and raved how wonderful Fanny Mae was. Kept thinking if the wife ever lost her job, they’d be SOL. Reckon, there were a LOT of folks SOL.
