Can’t Find My “Give A Damn”
Evidently, I’m having a Monday. I’ve read through a number of papers, and there isn’t one thing that catches my interest. I mean nothing!
The weather on the east coast sucks. Well, it’s winter! The weather is suppose to suck!
Obama went to church. Yeah? So what? This is news? I went to church too, as did millions of others, but I didn’t see that as a headline.
Muslims are killing, and threatening to kill anyone and everyone. Oh, there’s some news. ![]()
And the list goes on and on. The only GOOD news….111th has gone home! Thank you Lord! They can’t do anymore damage, but unfortunately, the damage they have done may be extremely long lasting, unless, of course, the 112th can work hard to rectify this? One can only hope!
So, you see….giving a damn is getting rough. Who knows, maybe just because it’s Monday? If so, I sure have been having a lot of ‘em lately. ![]()

Big Government Strikes Back
The Foundry
The 111th Congress, the most unpopular Congress in the recorded history if the United States, ended last week with a flurry of legislative activity that set a record for a lame duck Congress. Some in the media are eager to make the case that last week’s events portend a new era of bipartisan accomplishment, led by the White House, that will extend into the 112th Congress. They are half right.
Last week’s events in Washington were a preview of lawmaking in 2011, but Congress was not where the real action was. While the media was distracted by the last breaths of a defeated leftist majority in Congress, it was the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) that gave true picture of how the Obama Administration will advance their agenda in 2011.
Very Telling
Income gap in Shelby County grows, census finds
It’s nearly 20 miles from the porch on St. Paul Avenue where John Wilson looks out on a row of abandoned homes to the 18-room, 12,000-square-foot mansion that crowns an exclusive development off Houston Levee.
But in economic terms, the distance is growing steadily wider.
The home of Wilson, a 59-year-old retired carpenter, is in Census Tract 40, the poorest in all of metropolitan Memphis. It’s a place where the median household income is less than $8,000, where only one child in 10 lives with married parents, and where nearly half the residents receive Supplemental Security Income or some form of public assistance.
The expansive homes in The Legends development on Collierville’s western edge lie in Census Tract 213.53, by far the metro area’s richest. The median household income of this tract is nearly $173,000, more than 91 percent of the homes have at least four bedrooms and nearly three-fourths of all adults have a four-year or greater college degree.
Read the rest here.
As you read the column, you’ll notice some obvious differences between the haves and have nots, color being the least of the problem.
First off, I will lay blame on the Democrats. The have succeeded in turning a once family oriented, self reliant, group of people into a generation of dependent voters. The ‘you owe me’ entitlement mentality has destroyed families, and condemned the youth to a cycle of poverty, that seems never ending. Education is not a priority. Why should it be? You don’t have to grow up to be a productive member of society. Society “owes” you, just for being born.
I think it’s safe to say some blame lays with the N.A.G.s. When they decided that boinking anything that moves was ok for young girls (can’t call them ladies), with no consequences, they aided in the destruction of the sense of shame, that kept said young girls from behaving like cats in heat! Our young males (can’t call them men) have no respect for these girls. They are there to be used, then thrown away, the hell with any resulting life that is created. You hear on the news about these guys bragging about how many children they have fathered by a number of different females. A pathetic commentary on our societal ‘norms’.
We should also look to the churches. Many are no longer teaching the doctrines of God. They no longer look to the Bible for rules to live by, which would go a LONG way to solve a great many of societies ills. Those weren’t the Ten Suggestions, y’know. And, NO, Jesus was NOT a liberal>socialist. Just because you say it, does not make it so.
Let’s face it, not every one succeeds, but if you don’t try, you definitely won’t. You get out of life what you put into it, and if you contribute nothing, you should expect to get nothing. If you are one of the haves, consider sharing, through the desire to give back. If you are one of the have nots, then don’t expect anyone to make you a have. Get up off your ass, and DO something!
Coffee & Chicory
We already have the option. It’s called a ‘Living Will’. The government, on the other hand, has decided that we aren’t smart enough to make such decisions for ourselves, and will actually PAY doctors to push for death. Do I hear an apology to Sarah Palin? Nope….didn’t think so!
Obviously, Muslim women are just as murderously insane as the males.
What is so difficult? We don’t want mosques built all over the country. We don’t want the spread of Islam. Isn’t it bad enough that we already have a murderous cult established in our streets? Do we really need to encourage it too?
I guess in the loony tune Iranian world, fighting against the tyrannical regime is considered ‘fighting God’. But I’d like to know who decided that crazy thugs are ‘gods’?
Why the hell would U.S. companies sell ‘yellow cake’ to communist countries? Who could quite easily turn around and sell it to terrorist organizations? Where is the logic? And why aren’t we building nuclear reactors in this country to generate electricity? Federal government regulations, that’s why! Those dipwads would rather see us living in caves, freezing and starving to death than to allow us to move forward! Want to get away from dependency on terrorist supporting oil? Get the hell out of the way! Drill, explore, build!
Just one more government agency that abuses it’s power, does little to nothing in the way of actual security, and violates the 4th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
More of the same old ridiculous BS. “We can kill you, but you aren’t allowed to retaliate.” Maybe if you jackwipes quit trying to murder innocent people…….
There is absolutely nothing I need, or want, so bad I would brave a slew of crazy people in stores. What is our obsession with stuff, anyway?
This is the same woman who said the border was as secure as it’s ever been. How much more of her incompetence are we going to have to put up with?
The number of violent incidents says a lot about the maturity of the residents. Isn’t this a predominantly Democrat city?
I’d call it the ‘union effect’, not Canada! The more powerful the teacher’s unions, the worse the schools seem to get.
Gee, whatever could have happened to all those supplies in a country full of corruption? I wonder! Pfft!
Luke 2:1-20
1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.
2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.
4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)
5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.
7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.
10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.
11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,
14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.
15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.
17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.
18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.
19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.
20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.
May the Gift of our Savior grant you peace in your heart.
A Very Blessed Christmas To All!
For Short Person
When I was quite young, in Texas, MUCH younger than you, this was my second favorite Christmas book. (My first favorite was Little Lost Angel, first published in year I was born, 19XX.) It didn’t matter what time of the year it was, I remember, bugging my mom, Nana, to read them both to me. I had them memorized, but it didn’t matter! I wanted HER to read them! Since we can’t be there with you this year, just thought I’d share this memory with you. Love you!
T’was the night before Christmas in TEXAS
T’was the night before Christmas
In Texas, you know,
Way out on the prairie
(Without any snow).
Asleep in their cabin
Were Texas Bob and Clara Sue,
A-dream’ of Christmas
Like me and like you.
Not stockings, but boots,
At the foot of their bed
For this was in Texas,
What more need be said
When all of a sudden
From out the still night,
There came such a ruckus
It gave me a fright!
And I saw ‘cross the prairie
Like a shot from a gun,
A loaded-up buckboard
Come on at a run.
The driver was “Geein”,
And ‘hawin’, with a will.
The hosses (not reindeer)
He drove with such skill.
“Come on there, Buck, Pancho
And Prince, to the right!
There’ll be plenty of travelin’
For you-all tonight.”
The driver in Levi’s
And shirt that was red,
Had a ten-gallon Stetson
On top of his head.
As he stepped from the buckboard
He was really a sight
With his beard and moustaches
So curly and white.
As he burst in the cabin
The children awoke,
And both so astonished
That neither one spoke.
And he filled up their boots
With such presents galore
That neither could think
Of a single thing more.
When Texas Bob recovered
The use of his jaws,
He asked, in a whisper
“Are you Santa Clause?”
Am I the REAL Santa?
Well, what do you think?”
And he smiled as he gave
A mysterious wink.
Then he leapt in his buckboard,
And called back, in his drawl,
“To all children of TEXAS,
MERRY CHRISTMAS, All Y’all!”

Christmas, 1776.
Summer had begun with strong declarations of noble ideals, but by winter the cause of liberty seemed to be at low ebb. Having suffered defeat after defeat, many had all but given up hope. It looked like freedom would succumb yet again, as it had throughout history, to the forces of authoritarianism and tyranny.
Then, on Christmas Day, 1776, a small band of colonial forces under the command of Gen. George Washington, having retreated all the way from New York, again crossed the Delaware River and brought battle at Trenton, New Jersey. Washington not only won the battle but regained the initiative and turned the war in the patriots’ favor. One week later, Washington defeated the British at Princeton and forced the enemy to withdraw, preventing its advance on Philadelphia, seat of the Continental Congress.
Secure The Damn Borders!
Napolitano Scolds Reporter for Airing Complaints of Dead Border Agent’s Family
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, leaving the funeral of a murdered Border Patrol agent Wednesday, scolded a reporter for asking her to address the victim’s family’s concerns that not enough is being done to secure the southern border.
The family of agent Brian Terry had complained that Napolitano had offered them “empty words” when she called to express her condolences. Terry’s father, Kent Terry, in an interview with ABC affiliate KGUN, said he told Napolitano to “wake your man up in the White House,” to which she replied that he’s done more in two years than any president.
Really? I don’t know, but it appears to me he’s done about the same as Bush to secure our borders, and stop the flow of illegals into our country. In other words….not a damn thing!
After being told the concerns came from his father, mother and stepmother, she continued: “Listen, we are here today, the commissioner is here today, the chief of the Border Patrol is here today and we are here and his comrades are here with the family, who said other things to me by the way, so I really don’t think it appropriate for the media to try to pick this as a fight,” she said. “This is a moment to remember a fallen agent.”
While this may be true, there are way too many unanswered questions, and I can only applaud the reporter for actually doing the job he/she was hired to do….and that is get answers! However, with this administration, answers to darn near anything, are either so twisted around, no one has a clue what the blazes they are talking about, or totally blown off. Since Nappy is part of the administration, head of the so called Homeland Security (which isn’t), it’s quite appropriate to attempt to get answers, no matter what! But good luck with that!
Under this administration, the borders have become even more porous, the liberties of legal citizens have been diminished, and the rights of criminals and terrorists have been increased. Does anyone else see this as a tad bassackwards? How many more will be murdered because the lackadaisical approach to REAL security? All we get from these people are empty words….promises that are not kept…..lies…..and an agenda that is destroying our nation.
I don’t know about you, but I, for one, am totally, and completely fed up! This is not the country I was born and raised in, and it’s not a ‘change’ for the better!
Instead of a sign like this, facing north……
……. there should be a sign facing south, stating “Any and ALL criminals (illegal invaders) seen sneaking across the border will be shot, on sight, with extreme prejudice!” signed by the legals citizens of the United States of America.
Reruns
Reckon every one deserves some time off, and Glenn Beck is no exception. 12/15/10….the show about Wilmington, OH, just in case ya missed it.
A lesson learned – people can accomplish almost anything when the pull together, and keep their faith strong!
A Dog’s Rules for Christmas
1. Be patient with your humans during this time. They may be more stressed than usual, and they will need long, comforting dog leans.
2. Your human may bring home large bags of pretty things they call gifts. Do not assume that all the gifts are yours.
3. Be tolerant if your humans put decorations on you. They seem to get some special kind of pleasure out of seeing how you look with fake antlers.
4. Your humans may bring a large tree into the house and cover it with lights and decorations. Bizarre as this may seem to you, it is an important ritual for them. So here are some things you need to know:
a) Do not lift your leg on the tree.
b) Do not drink water from the container that holds the tree.
c) Mind your tail when you are near the tree.
d) Do not chew on the cord that runs from the hole in the wall to the tree.
e) Even if they smell really good, do not open the packages under the tree.
5. If your kids leave milk and cookies on the table, they are not for you. The will give you your treats as usual.
6. A fat man with a white beard and wearing a red suit may emerge from your fireplace in the middle of the night. IT’S OK – DON’T BITE HIM!

A Few Christmas Thoughts
This is the time of year when we should all be reflecting. How can we, personally, do better to express the love that God has shown us, by giving the greatest gift of all…..forgiveness of our sins. I do a lot of thinking how better can I be a doer, and not just a sayer. Of course, that’s not just a Christmas thing…it’s an every day of the year thing.
So, I was sitting here, doing to contemplating. No, wasn’t terribly painful, since most of what I’ve been thinking about has been in my mind for many years.
While, in reality, The Savior was not born on the 25th of December, that just happens to be the date that it was decided to hold such a celebration. Why? Well, the pagans were still celebrating the solstice, Saturnalia and such, and apparently, the Church (around 440) of the time wanted to preempt such celebrations and bring more into the Faith. How better to do that than integrate all the revelry? They did a lot of that back then. More than likely, He was born in the spring.
Early Christians were a Jewish sect. They were born as Jews, raised Jewish, and they died the same. Enter the Romans, who co-opted and decided THEY should be the ones to decide what’s what, and Church went from Saturday observances to Sunday. Why? Perhaps the Romans still held a deep hatred? Who knows what their thinking was, but a lot of ‘em got it really wrong, and it’s stuck with us.
Along comes the United States of America! A great experiment in liberty! President Ullyses S. Grant signs the bill declaring ‘the 25th day of December, commonly called Christmas‘….’as a day of public fast or thanksgiving…‘ on June 28, 1870. There were other dates included, like New Year’s Day, the 4th of July Thanksgiving, and ‘any day appointed or recommended’ by the POTUS.
Obviously, if there are so many people who oppose the name of the day, Christmas, they should probably NOT be allowed to take said day off. That includes every government employee….anyone who gets a paycheck from the taxpayers, which includes the so called educators.
Once again, I must bring up the fact there is NO SUCH THING as ‘separation of church and state’. All you bozos who get your knickers in a twist about a creche on ‘public property’….WE ARE THE PUBLIC! It’s OUR property, and there are a LOT more of us than there are of YOU!
Ghost Of Christmas Past
Ok, I admit it…..I was never fond of Santa Claus!
But I never had a problem with the goodies he would bring!
Uh….I would be the cute, little one on the right.
