Neglecting The Common Defense

Why We Provide for the Common Defense
The Foundry

In a luncheon speech to American business executives in which he urged the United States to recognize China’s claims over Tibet and Taiwan, Chinese President Hu Jintao said yesterday: “We do not engage in an arms race, we are not a military threat to any country. China will never seek to dominate or pursue an expansionist policy.” We certainly hope this is true. But our leaders must do more than just hope. As President George Washington asserted in his First Annual Message, the “most effectual means of preserving peace” is “to be prepared for war.”

Tell Me Again….

20 January 2011, 2:04 pm. 5 Comments. Filed under Just Cuz.

…..just WHY did I get out of bed this morning?  :?

First, I woke up WAY too early.  Well, truthfully, I stayed awake WAY too late.  I am going to have to blame Chris for that.  It IS all HER fault!  Really!  She’s the one who recommended the book, after all!

Second, after trying to talk to the Mr’s doc for the past few days, he finally called.  While I was in the shower.  I’m tellin’ ya…they have some sort of secret vision that they just KNOW when you aren’t going to be able to answer the phone!

Third, I made my way over to the hospital and got my super sized, vanilla latte’, with cinnamon.  Am I the only person who can manage to get a splinter from a stir stick?  Can’t be.  sigh…  Those teeniney splinters can be quite painful, don’cha know.

Fourth, I manage to make it up to the Mr’s room, just in time to disturb the pharmacist, get in the way of housekeeping, and watch ‘em suck blood out of the Mr’s neck.  *chibber* So, after everyone was finally gone, I bent down to pick something up off the floor, and promptly knocked over that still HOT, super sized, vanilla latte’ with the cinnamon sprinkles on top….all over the nice clean floor.

Fifth, after managing not to destroy anything else, or even knock the Mr out of his bed, we both decided it would probably be wise for me to head home before the nasty weather set in.  I get to the parking garage….and can’t find my truck. I know I’m on the right level cuz it’s the same level I always park on, but said truck is not in sight. After walking in a huge circle, I see the rear of the truck. I don’t remember parking that FAR from the door. :?

Sixth, since I was extremely hungry, and McDonald’s (ugh) was on the correct side of the road, I thought a burger would be a good idea.   Adding the small fries was not such a good idea, but what the heck.  Hungry is hungry.  Somehow or another, when I got to the window to pay, I was a tad confused.  That’s an awful lot to pay for a burger and small fries.  I look at the receipt, and lo and behold, the young lady had doubled my order.  So, while she got the manager to fix the problem, cars were piling up behind me. sigh… I finally got my correct change, and my correct order, and managed to pull out of the drive without getting hit. Yay me!

Seventh, somehow, I managed to drive the rest of the way home, without any mishaps or severe damage being done to myself, or those around me. Which is truly surprising since every single dark colored vehicle on the road was sans headlights. Gray day….dark vehicle….turn yer flippin’ lights one! However, once I got into the garage, turned off the truck, took all the stuff out of said truck, I failed to remember how my day had been going so far, and attempted to lug everything in the house, in one trip. Do you know that jamming previously wounded (splinter) pinkie finger hurts? Yep…sure does! Good thing I don’t really use it a great deal, but just enough to remember how great my day has been….so far. And all this….before 1:00.

I am now happily ensconced in my recliner….TRYING to get that dadburn splinter out!  And praying I don’t trip over a cat, or my own feet, or something equally bizarre happens, at some point during the rest of the day.  :?

On the bright side….the Mr is making progress, and doesn’t need me hovering around.  He said so.  :D   And considering the catastrophe I was while up there, I can surely understand him wanting some peace.  Heh.

Concealer

20 January 2011, 8:39 am. Comments Off. Filed under Dhimmicrats, Health Care, House of Representatives.

Yesterday morning, when I walked into the hospital’s coffee bar, the girl behind the counter said “Wow, you obviously finally got some rest!”  My response….with a smile, “Concealer.”

Now, most women know what I mean, and most husband SHOULD know what that is, but for those of you who don’t….  Concealer is that little magic tube of makeup type stuff that conceals minor flaws….like dark circles and bags under your eyes when you don’t get enough sleep.  Ok, so it doesn’t exactly conceal completely, but it’s a good start.

That got me to thinking.  How many times in our lives to we use some sort of ‘concealer’.  There are things we just don’t want people to know about us.  I’m basically an open book, but there are many things about me that people don’t know.  Frankly, cuz it’s none of their flippin’ business.

There are a few folks who have basically got the big picture, the Mr for one.  Why would I try to conceal anything from the man I’m suppose to trust with my life?  Doesn’t make sense.  So, he knows some of the worst about me.   My pastor and a few select friends know a lot, but not everything.  And honestly, there are things I just don’t remember, for a variety of reasons.  :D

So, when I started thinking about this, it occurred to me, our so called political leaders use a lot of ‘concealer’.  And I mean a LOT!  They cover the ugly parts they don’t want you to see, but they are still there, and eventually, come to the surface.  Many will keep slapping on more and more concealer, in other words, lie….repeatedly, and expect us all to see and hear, only what they want us to see and hear.  We are too stupid to see through the facade, don’t ya know.  Haven’t they pretty much told us that, time and time again?

Take for example the comments Steve Cohen made on the House floor.

“They don’t like the truth so they summarily dismiss it,” he said. “They say it’s a government takeover of healthcare. A big lie just like [Nazi propaganda minister Joseph] Goebbels. You say it enough and you repeat the lie, repeat the lie, repeat the lie until eventually people believe it. Like blood libel, that’s the same kind of thing.

“The Germans said enough about the Jews and people believed it, and you have the Holocaust,” he added. “You tell a lie over and over again.”

Here we have a Jewish man, comparing his fellow Americans with Goebbels.  Nice.  Real flippin’ nice.  The problem is, it’s not the GOP that are spewing the lies, and expecting WE, The People to buy into them.  That would be YOUR side of the aisle, Stevie!  You see, WE have actually READ the bill.  Have you?  Thank you, once again, for embarrassing the state of Tennessee.  :?

Of course, he did try to do some back peddling.  I’m afraid you can’t get the toothpaste back in the tube.

Then we have one of the ‘queens of concealer’, Shelia Jackson Lee.  Definitely one of my favorites.  /snark Here we have the type of person who will use other people, even through a big fat lie, to attempt to slap down one of the more intelligent people who has interviewed her.  One of the HUGE problems is that, it’s all crap!  When someone shows up at a hospital, with a trauma, or seriously ill, they are NOT ever turned away.  DESPITE their ability to pay.

Just a side note:  There are people who use emergency rooms as their family clinic.  Illegals come to mind.  They are not turned away, even though they don’t pay, and as a consequence, many hospitals have had to close their doors, denying those who could, or would, pay, adequate health care.

Bureaucracies do not save lives.  Never have, never will.  This bill is nothing more than one huge bureaucracy, with the ability to control your life.  Lies.  And they keep repeating them.  Sadly, many have not attempted to see through the ‘concealer’ to what is really underneath.

If, on the off chance, that Cohen or Lee has actually READ the entire bill, that too speaks volumes about their ability to think rationally, as a freedom loving American.  I don’t believe either of them to be such a person.  Which is why, imho, they push so hard to deny the rest of us the freedoms granted to us by the Almighty, Himself.

There is not enough concealer in the world to cover all the “flaws” that came out of the Democrat controlled Congress.  We see through it!

The World Is Still Turning

19 January 2011, 9:37 pm. 6 Comments. Filed under Friends & Family, House of Representatives.

Nothing like being totally out of touch.  :?

They moved the Mr out of ICU and into a real room this evening.  This is a good thing.  :D   While I was setting up his computer and stuff, he asked me….  “Did they vote to repeal ObamaCare?”

I couldn’t answer.  I had no idea!  Being the political news junkie I have been for many years, you’d think I’d have at least kept up with a little news here and there.  Nope.  I haven’t even turned on the TV, or listened to the radio except on the drive from the motel to the hospital, and that was set on The Message.

He may not be aware of it, but he did give me a rather odd look.  Wonder if that was the “WHO ARE YOU?” look?  LOL

I just now found out….yes, the House DID vote to repeal ObamaCare:D

No, I’m still not turning on the TV.  Honestly, as important as that news is, it just really isn’t my number one priority right now.  The world will still continue turning, and the liberals will still be insane, even if I don’t pay attention to ‘em.

Ann on The Consistent Idiocy of the Left

Mud Libel
by Ann Coulter

The same people who had blamed Sarah Palin for the massacre at the Tucson Safeway and then taunted her for her “silence” were enraged when she responded.

Last Tuesday, the night before Palin responded, MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann mocked Palin’s silence throughout his show:

– “And why is the ever self-promoting Miss Palin so quiet?”

– “And it’s quiet, isn’t it?”

– “It’s too quiet.”

– “The silence is deafening from the great Northwest.”

It was deemed an admission of guilt that she hadn’t spoken about the Tucson shooting or denied the accusations that she had inspired the shooter.

The next day, Palin posted a video response, and Keith immediately attacked her for “the worst timed political statement ever.” It’s almost as if liberals would attack Palin whatever she did.

We ARE Different!

American Amazons — To The Front!
by J. D. Longstreet

Women assigned to frontline combat units is just another way to degrade women and prop-up the lie that women are equal to men — in all things. Notice – I did say LIE! I admit it. I believe it! That is my opinion.

Now, I am the first to admit that men are not equal to women in a number of things. The first thing to come to mind is childbearing. We simply cannot do that. (Nor do we want to!)

I am convinced it is just another avenue the left has chosen to destroy what used to be the finest military the world has ever known. Today, the US military is quickly becoming second — behind the Israeli Defense Force.

We can only pray that we will soon have a conservative Commander-in-Chief who will rebuild out military into a war-fighting force rather than the armed peace corps it has been transformed into by the liberal-socialists in the Congress and the White House.

If the current trend continues we will have the best dressed, best equipped, most inclusive military in the world, but — one, which is unable to fight its way out of a wet paper bag.

Read the rest here.

I happen to agree with J.D.’s commentary, with one exception.  While I’m totally against the repeal of DADT, I do believe that gay men and women are quite capable of serving their country.  I just don’t happen to believe they should do it in pink camo.  :?

We are different.  God made us that way for a real good reason.  Women on the front lines of war wasn’t one of ‘em.  Yes, when the need has arisen, many women have picked up arms to defend their homes.  They didn’t suit up and go the war in far off lands, to fight side by side with trained men.

The enemy we are fighting today is a lot different from any in the past.  While war is an ugly thing, and should be avoided, there are sometimes, when it is just not possible….especially if your entire way of life is threatened, along with all of your citizens.  And this enemy is out to completely destroy us, as a nation, man, woman, and child.  This enemy has no honor.  None.  Zip.  Zero.  Zilch.  This enemy is no respecter of persons, period.  The intent is to kill.  One by one, until we are no more.

Women were made to bear children.  Without women, there are no children.  Without children, our civilization will die.  We’ve already started that process with the murder of millions of innocent children.  Why do we want to give the enemy cannon fodder?  There is no logic!

You can call me a sexist if you want.  Don’t much give a flying flip.  But I, for one, do not see putting women on the front lines, or the destruction of the finest military machine on the planet being reduced to a shadow of its former self through political correctness as progress.

Tubed and Wired

18 January 2011, 8:39 pm. 7 Comments. Filed under Friends & Family.

It’s been a positively dreary day!  Yeah…constant drizzle will make a lousy day even worse, won’t it!  :?   I shouldn’t complain.  It could have been snowing!  :D

While standing around waiting for the evening cattle call (ICU visitation), an orderly wheeled in one of THOSE types of gurneys.  You know the kind….covered, so no one can see.  Kind of creeped me out.  Wasn’t the first one of that sort I’ve ever seen, but when it’s heading towards the same direction you are….

However, the Mr is progressing nicely.  Well, at least that’s what the nurses are telling me.  I guess they would know, right?  I was also told he MIGHT be moved out of ICU into a real room tomorrow.  I have my doubts, but hey…what do I know.  I’m just seeing a guy all wired up, drugged out of his mind, for 20 minutes, 3 times a day.  Needless to say, he’s not a happy camper.

I have yet to see his doctor.  It would be nice to actually talk to the guy who was poking around in my husband’s innards.  sigh…  Well, maybe tomorrow?  One can only hope.  :?

Blogging Will Be Light

18 January 2011, 7:50 am. 5 Comments. Filed under Blog Stuff, Friends & Family.

Well, yeah.  Of course it will!  DUH!  Other than the fact the Mr is in the hospital, again, I don’t have a whole lot to say, nor the time to say it if I did!  :?

I only got to see the Mr for a few minutes after he came out of surgery, and was put in the surgical ICU.  The doc said it was a bit more complicated than they had anticipated, but he did come through ok.  :D   He’s going to be in a great deal of pain for a while, cuz anytime they cut on ya, and take stuff out, it’s going to be a process. Boy, is he gonna be grumpy!

All the crap that Vanderbilt said and did, was a total waste of time and money.  NOTHING they “thought”, was right, from what I’ve been able to understand.  So, they put him through hell, when they could have fixed the problem months ago.  Am I pissed?  Oh, you bet’cher bippy I am!  If I knew who to rip a new one, believe me, I’d be gearing up!  But…what’s done is done.  I need to let it go!

Until he is moved into a regular room, I’ll get a whopping 20 minutes at a time to see him.  Which, of course, leaves a great deal of time for me to fill.  One nice thing about Jackson….there are a LOT more stores to choose from than Podunk.    I could use some new sneakers.  How ’bout a new computer?  Naw…he’d kill me.  Heh.  And there’s always the one store that sells my favorite vitamins.  PLUS, Macy’s, and Kohl’s, and Belk’s, and…..  Ok ok ok.  I WILL try to behave m’self.  :D

How do I know? Cuz we’ve spent enough time in them lately! And why not be up before dawn’s crack at another one to wall to wait around for hours and hours! Yep! Here we are at Jackson General, waiting for them to take the Mr into surgery…….scheduled for 11! Sheesh! I don’t think there is enough over priced nasty coffee to make the waiting any less annoying!

Prayers would be much appreciated too, too, by the way! :)

Hmmmmm ……blotting BLOGGING…  (stupid auto correct) by phone is hard work!

Isaiah 28:1-6

1 Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!
2 Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.
3 The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:
4 And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up.
5 In that day shall the LORD of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.
