Rubber Bullets Fly at Anti-Obama Protest In Rio
A molotov cocktail was launched in front of the US consulate in Rio de Janeiro late Friday in protest of the arrival of President Barack Obama, the O Globo newspaper in Rio reported. Military police reacted by firing rubber bullets into the gathering of 200 at around 18:30 local time. A CBN news reporter suffered a minor injury from the shots and traffic was blocked.
“They came after us with clubs and tear gas and attacked,” according to protestor Thiago Hastenheiter. “They chased us through the streets and started firing rounds of rubber bullets.”
Police major Fabio Alessandro of the 13th Batallion of Rio’s military police said that the protestors, all left leaning social movements associated with the Socialist Workers Party, PSTU, did not have a permit to protest near the consulate along Avenida Rio Branco and had refused to disperse from the area. They wore the ubiquitous Che Guevera T shirt and carried American flags that said Go Home Obama. Most of the protests had been peaceful until two home-made molotov cocktails were let loose in the direction of the Consulate. A guard at the Consulate was partially burned and was sent to the emergency room at Souza Aguiar Hospital.
You KNOW you’re in trouble when your own don’t like you! Perhaps D’Bama just isn’t socialist enough?

No Adoration? Gosh!
Obama cancels public speech in Rio square: embassy
The speech in the historic plaza known as Cinelandia, in the heart of Rio de Janeiro, “is cancelled,” an embassy spokeswoman told AFP.
Obama instead will deliver remarks at Rio’s Municipal Theatre, the official said, without specifying whether it would be open to the public or exclusively for invited guests.
No explanation for the change of venue was given by the embassy. Brazilian authorities have laid out a heavy security presence for Obama’s two-day visit to South America’s largest nation, and police in Rio had closed numerous streets from midnight Thursday in preparation.
On Thursday, members of an advance US security team were seen inspecting the surroundings of Cinelandia, where anti-US banners could be seen hanging from a road-side fence.
In a rather odd way, this is actually pretty funny. Not that I want any harm to come to ol’ D’Bama, but the idea he isn’t adored around the world, like he believes himself to be, is quite amusing. Perhaps he should have stayed at home and taken care of serious business in THIS country, instead of gallivanting off, trying to impress a bunch of foreigners for “spring break”? I wonder how many of the beautiful places, right here in the U.S. of A. he has bothered to take his family to see? Or is this country not good enough for the globe trotters?
It’s What They Do
Hamas fires dozens of rockets at Israel
Israeli police say Hamas militants in Gaza have launched the heaviest shelling in more than two years on Israeli border communities.
A Gaza Health Ministry official said Israel’s subsequent airstrikes killed a member of Hamas and injured two others.
The bad guys fire 50 rockets at the communities. Israel retaliates, as most would, if they had any sense. Yet who is going to be blamed? Why Israel, of course! Maybe if Hamas would stop trying to annialate the Israelis, they stop shooting back? Just a thought.
An Obama “Whatever”
Obama says Qaddafi must withdraw forces, does not demand his departure
US President Barack Obama Friday, March 18, laid down an ultimatum for Muammar Qaddafi to comply with or else face “military consequences,” the key condition being the withdrawal of Libyan troops from Misrata and Zawiya west of Tripoli and Ajdabiya to the east – the last being tantamount to lifting the siege on the rebel stronghold of Benghazi. Obama spoke 24 hours after the UN Security Council called for an immediate ceasefire in Libya, approved a no-fly zone and authorized “all necessary measures to protect civilians.”
While Obama’s demands appeared to cancel out the gains made by Qaddafi’s forces in recent weeks, debkafile’s military sources note that he set no deadline for these withdrawals. Nor did he specify that the towns in question must revert to rebel control. Most of all, he did not demand Qaddafi’s departure outright, although he stressed that the Libyan ruler had lost the confidence of his people.
If anyone should know about losing the ‘confidence of his people, it SHOULD be Obama! Sadly, the man is so oblivious to reality….. This pretty much amounts to a 3 year old stomping his foot, and has about the same effect on the grown ups.

Five Questions Obama Has Not Answered on Libya
The Foundry
Yesterday the United Nations Security Council voted 10–0, with five abstentions, to authorize military action in Libya. Specifically, the resolution “authorizes member states … to take all necessary measures … to protect civilians and civilian populated areas under threat of attack.” Celebrations erupted across Benghazi after news of the vote reached rebels. A 17-year-old rebel told The Wall Street Journal: “I give Qadhafi a maximum of two days.” If only.

And to think…for decades, it was the U.S. that always led the way. Now, it’s France? How embarrassing!
Druggies ‘down under’ might want to reconsider their lifestyle.
They are NOT ‘migrants’! They are criminals! And I have NO doubt they are treated better than any illegal would be in their countries!
Doesn’t look much different than the moon if ya ask me.
One headline says a lot. More embarrassment!
A couple of real class acts. /snark
Teachers unions ALWAYS put their own interests before those they are suppose to be educating. It’s all about the money and power, NEVER about the students!
I get the impression this guy doesn’t much care for Queen Elizabeth.
Instead of freaking out over something that likely won’t happen, Californians should be more concerned about their state going bankrupt due to that entitlement mentality, and hope they don’t hit by the BIG one that may shove ‘em into the Pacific.
It makes you wonder….did the cops learn from the drug cartels, or did the cartels learn from the cops?
Harry Reid and his cronies are guilty of aiding and abetting the murder of millions of innocent babies!
How much more embarrassment are the American people going to have to endure???
Really glad they were found and will be released. I am curious about their treatment. That part of the world isn’t known for its hospitable treatment of journalists lately.
Not a solution? How about putting those people BACK to work? Thanks to the stupidity of the Dems, many have lost their jobs! We have enough oil in this country to keep us going for quite a while, during which time, someone could be working are REAL viable alternatives.
Just how is sending billions of dollars to countries that hate us ‘essential to national security’?
What is it about libs and trains? We aren’t Europe!
Sounds pretty ‘first degree’ to me. What an animal! I guess Californians don’t believe the punishment should fit the crime?
I’m finding it difficult to take anyone named Mousa Kousa seriously, especially when he’s speaking for a crazy person.
Can we PLEASE get the political correctness police OUT of the military business? They apparently want to turn the greatest military force into a bunch of pantywaists!
“We don’t know how frequently this is happening, and we need better surveillance…” Gee, y’think? Jeeeez!
Performance over seniority? As it SHOULD be!

Weasel Time
Hypocrites
Where’s the international outcry against Arab apartheid?
Mohammed Nabil Taha, an 11-year-old Palestinian boy, died this week at the entrance to a Lebanese hospital after doctors refused to help him because his family could not afford to pay for medical treatment.
Taha’s tragic case highlights the plight of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who live in squalid refugee camps in Lebanon and who are the victims of an apartheid system that denies them access to work, education and medical care.
I don’t suppose it wouldn’t do a bit of good to point out to the anti-Israeli morons their hypocrisy, would it.
Why should anyone care about a Palestinian boy who is denied medical treatment by an Arab hospital? The story has no anti-Israel angle to it.
And that’s the whole point isn’t it. Hypocrites.
Last year alone, some 180,000 Palestinians from the West Bank and Gaza Strip entered Israel to receive medical treatment. Many were treated despite the fact that they did not have enough money to cover the bill.
Arab hospitals won’t even treat fellow Arabs. Yet the Israelis continue to give the best of possible care to EVERYONE.
It is disgraceful that while Israel admits Palestinian patients to its hospitals, Arab hospitals are denying them medical treatment for various reasons, including money. But then one is reminded that Arab dictators do not care about their own people, so why should they pay attention to an 11-year-old boy who is dying at the entrance to a hospital because his father didn’t have $1,500 handy? But as the death took place in an Arab country – and as the victim is an Arab – why should anyone care about him? Where is the outcry against Arab apartheid?
Indeed!

Ann on The Benefits of Radiation
A Glowing Report on Radiation
by Ann Coulter
With the terrible earthquake and resulting tsunami that have devastated Japan, the only good news is that anyone exposed to excess radiation from the nuclear power plants is now probably much less likely to get cancer.
This only seems counterintuitive because of media hysteria for the past 20 years trying to convince Americans that radiation at any dose is bad. There is, however, burgeoning evidence that excess radiation operates as a sort of cancer vaccine.
As The New York Times science section reported in 2001, an increasing number of scientists believe that at some level — much higher than the minimums set by the U.S. government — radiation is good for you. “They theorize,” the Times said, that “these doses protect against cancer by activating cells’ natural defense mechanisms.”
I Call Them Heroes
Fukushima 50 Stay Behind to Prevent Nuclear Meltdown
They are known as the Fukushima 50, the workers who stayed behind at the crippled Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant in order to prevent a meltdown in Japan.
Between 50 and 70 plant engineers — who have not been identified and are being hailed as heroes — continue to work around the clock in dangerous conditions, as hundreds of thousands have evacuated the area, fearing a meltdown.
We may, or may not ever know their names, but we will surely know them as heroes. I pray for them, and their families. May God watch over them!
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Obama Dithers While American Credibility Burns
The Foundry
President Barack Obama invited ESPN into the White House yesterday so that The Worldwide Leader In Sports could tape his picks for the 2011 NCAA basketball tournament. The President picked all frontrunners. Good for him. Meanwhile, 5,000 miles away, a Libyan rebel defending the town of Ajdabiya from Muammar Qadhafi loyalists told The Washington Post: “These politicians are liars. They just talk and talk, but they do nothing.” One hundred miles north, in the rebel stronghold of Benghazi, rebel spokeswoman Iman Bugaighis told The New York Times that Western nations had “lost any credibility.”
