There might have been some issues in the family?  Gee, y’think????

Do they really think it’s such a good idea to ignore IMPORTANT social issues?  I mean, after all, isn’t that WHY so many TN Republicans replaced Democrats?  Not to mention, many of those social issues have a big effect on the fiscal well being of any state.

It probably isn’t a real good idea to start a new job with such a cloud hanging over your head.  I wonder what ‘dead fish’ offered him, that he felt it necessary to renege on his recently signed contract?

And this is what you get when you have Democrats…oh…right….an “Independent”….in charge.  Does he wonder why anyone with 2 nickles to rub together, and can afford, leaves that sinkhole they call the Big Apple?  Nothing but an apple filled with rotting worms.

So much for the global warming’, eh Al?  Oh, wait a minute.  It’s ‘climate change’ now, right?  And the earth is still warming, right?  And THAT is why the midwest is getting pounded with accumulations of snow, the last half of April, right?  FYI…the climate changes.  Some years are colder than others.  Then, there are some years that are a whole lot hotter.  It has been happening for eons, and us pathetic little insignificant ants have NOTHING to do with it.

Criminy!  If San Fransisco calls this guy the most liberal in the mayor’s race, it must be like a who’s who of left coast socialism!

Do the extremists within the ‘rebels’ really need advice from the Brits?

I honestly can’t imagine the pain of losing a child, and to have that child commit suicide at such a young age, has to be extremely difficult.  Is it the school they are really blaming, or projecting some deeply felt guilt onto the school system?

I really hope Sarkozy has enough to sense to tell them where to stuff it!  At least until they get their act together, and stop trying to slaughter innocent people!  *thinking* Welp, doubt if that will ever happen.

I will repeat, once again….  turn the damn country into a field of glass!

Geithner is a moron.  Period.

Just what we need in the region…more extremely nasty storms:(

Just who are these “GOP insiders”, and why the hell would they be open to a run for prez by someone who is in FAVOR of ObamaCare????  Come on people, find out more about the guy before jumping on the band wagon.  Isn’t that how we ended up with Captain D’Blivious?

Nooo…the U.S. isn’t in any economic trouble, is it!  Riiiiiiiiiiiight!  How many days till we no longer have to deal with fools and incompetents?

Another hero gunned down.  Praying for friends and family.

Apparently, the U.S. isn’t the only government that screws over it’s heroes.  Australia ought to be ASHAMED!

My home state, Texas, continues to burn:(

Face it, dude….we just don’t like phonies, and bubba, you are one HUGE phony!

I already knew this, didn’t you?

Psst!  Hey, SFB!  Perhaps if YOU and your Dem cronies hadn’t been so busy doubling the deficit in four short years, it wouldn’t be such a big issue now, would it!

In other words, crazies in Iraq should join with crazies in Iran, to start a reign of terror that will bring on their anti-Christ.  Fine…just as soon as Iraq pays back the American taxpayers for saving their sorry backsides from another crazy!

Killing The Dream

The American Dream Is In Jeopardy
The Foundry

Companies like General Electric and Caterpillar might sound as American as apple pie, but like many other multinational firms, which employ a fifth of all American workers, they’re cutting back on their domestic workforces and increasing hiring overseas. That disturbing trend points to a serious problem in the United States: the Land of the Free is not the attractive place to do business that it once was.

Big government policies are setting us on a path away from a fundamental freedom we cherish—one the Founders strove to preserve. It’s the freedom to pursue the American dream—economic freedom—that, tragically, is in jeopardy.

My Monday

19 April 2011, 7:39 am. Comments Off. Filed under Just Cuz.

I was up, showered, dressed, and ready to walk out the door at 8am.  Yes, I know, it shocked the Mr too.

We moseyed over to Jackson for the Mr’s 10 am appointment with the oncologist, only to sit and WAIT an hour past the appointed time.  Why do they make cattle call appts?  Is that something they started in recent years?  We were about ready to leave since both of us had appointment over here in town in the early afternoon, when he was called in.  Good thing too, cuz odds are, he wouldn’t have let me go with him next time.  I had to put my foot down and insist I WAS GOING this time, as is.  Heh.

Good thing too.  I like that doctor.  YOUNG, but smart cookie.  And she doesn’t talk to you like you’re a complete moron!  I wonder if she was surprised that I actually understood what she was explaining?  :D   Gosh, isn’t it a wonder that not everyone is stoopid?  Heh.

So, the Mr has to have another surgery in a couple of weeks, and he’s not too happy about that.  I think he’s getting tired of total strangers playing with his innards.  But, if that is what must be done, then that is what WILL be done!

We finally got out of there, and made a stop at a little place he found on one of his many trips to Jackson.  An actual GYROS place.  I guess if they called it schawarma here, no one would know what it was?  Ever watched the BBC in Arabic?  Interesting.  Naturally, I understood very little.  Ok, how about almost nothing?  LOL  Got ours to go, and proceeded to head home.  By the time we finally got here, I was starving.  Ever crammed a luke warm gyro in your face in just a few minutes?  It’s an experience, lemme tell ya.  But that sucker was GOOD! I’m not sure why the sauce was pink though. :?

Now, what was interesting about this place, that was obviously run by Muslims, was that also on the menu, was pulled pork.  Hoooookay!  I wanted to ask, but I refrained.  :D   It’s just a little hole in the wall type place, in a not very good part of town.  You could tell this by all the bars on the windows, and the stereo outside that was vibrating the windows.  But I would highly recommend the place if you are craving a good gyro!  It’s on Highland St.  Called Pizza King, or something like that.

After inhaling my breakfast/lunch, I was off to get my truck (or cruck as Brat calls it) serviced.  With all the mess going on the last few months, I completely zoned getting my oil changed way past time it should have been done.  No harm, no foul.  So, I’m sitting in the waiting room, watching Let’s Make a Deal.  *shudder* I don’t know who the guy is, but he is no Monty Hall.

Do they really use language like that on game shows now?  Honestly, that’s the first one I’ve watched in decades, and hopefully, the last.  My, how times have changed.  And not for the better!  Well, as one person said, at lest it wasn’t The View!

Once I had my cruck back in hand, with fresh oil, and new wiper blades, it was off to Wally World.  Now, you know, walking into Wal-Mart, on any given day, is an experience all by itself.  I’m always tempted to take a picture or two, to send to People of Wal-Mart.  Yesterday was no different.  Honestly, it was down right frightening.  I’m sorry, but even if you are fairly young, if you are the size of a hippo, wearing an extremely revealing camisole type top is really not a good idea.  And I do mean EXTREMELY revealing, like practically see through, and pulled down halfway to the naval.  No ladies, it is just not a smart thing to do.  Given that she had a male with her, who I will assume was her spouse, matching her in size and revealing more of his epidermis that I wanted to see, and 3 extremely LOUD, screeching children, the eldest dressed in much the same manner as mom, with not quite as much exposed, the picture was complete.

After a quick stop at the grocery store (Wal-Mart doesn’t have EVERYTHING y’know), I made it home sometime after 4, and the brain just didn’t want to function in the blogging/opinion mode.  So, it didn’t.  I did manage to do a little kitchen policing in the evening though.  And imagine….all day, functioning, with NO coffee.

….I was extremely ‘quiet’ today.  That’s because I’ve been gone all day, since way earlier than I wanted, till just a short time ago.  :D   Now, I’m flat out tuckered, so likely, I’ll still be fairly silent.  Well, at least for a while, or until tomorrow.   Whichever feels right.  :P

Nullification: Smacking Down Those Who Smack Down The Constitution
by Publius Huldah

In response to a recent article in the National Review by Allen C. Guelzo, a nullification denier and history professor at Gettysburg College, and two responding letters to the Editor,1 one “Celticreeler” posted an astute rebuttal you can read here.

The issue in the National Review article and letters is this: Guelzo denies that States have any right to nullify unconstitutional laws made by Congress. He looks at Art. VI, clause 2, U.S. Constitution (the “supremacy clause”), which reads,

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land… [emphasis added]

and concludes that any law made by Congress is the “supreme” law of the land; and everyone must obey, unless & until five (5) judges on the supreme Court say they don’t have to. He claims that only judges have authority to nullify unconstitutional acts of Congress.

What Part of ILLEGAL…….

Immigration bills bring rare spat between GOP, business interests

Republican lawmakers and Tennessee’s business community are in a rare disagreement, spatting over the GOP’s slate of immigration legislation. And Gov. Bill Haslam is stuck in the middle.

Lawmakers are rolling ahead with a bill that would force Tennessee businesses to check the immigration status of all new hires, dealing a rare, public setback to business groups from the Republican-led legislature.

KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK! Excuse me Mr Business Man, but if you are hiring illegals, then you are breaking the law! Don’t like it? Well, hire people who are here legally, then you won’t have a problem, will you.

State representatives are pushing through a measure that would require businesses to run every future employee through a federal government immigration-status check known as E-Verify. They have stuck to their guns even though groups such as the National Federation of Independent Business and the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce and Industry have lodged complaints that the system is faulty and costly.

Well, I wonder which is MORE costly. Doing a simple check to make sure your new hire is a legal resident, or the fines imposed by hiring someone who broke the law to come and take a job someone else, who IS a legal resident (& speaks the language, by the way), and quite competent to do?

“One of the things that makes it hard is there’s legitimate interests that don’t always coincide,” Haslam said. “Republicans are pro-business. The flip side is we’re also people who feel like we have a responsibility to uphold the law.”

Businesses SHOULD be interested in NOT breaking the law, wouldn’t you think? If the lawmakers don’t ‘uphold the law’, then they are pretty freakin’ useless. Kind of like we’ve seen so often in D.C. in recent years. Seriously, Nashville, do you want us to believe y’all are just as feckless as those in the Swamp?

“Just like workers’ comp and unemployment insurance, if we don’t make it mandatory for everyone, you’re not going to get anybody to participate,” said state Rep. Joe Carr, R-Lascassas, the bill’s main House sponsor. “I think that the business community is looking out for their singular interest. My approach is a little bit more broad-based than theirs.”

When you think about it, it shouldn’t have to be made mandatory. You’d think that AMERICAN businesses would WANT to comply with the law, and NOT hire criminals. However, since integrity is no longer a part of the business world, I suppose we do need a bit of government inference once in a while. Personally, I’d prefer not to do business with a company that has no respect for the LEGAL residents and citizens of this country.

A potential hurdle is the legislation’s costs. The state would need to hire three inspectors to make sure companies are using E-Verify, bringing the bill’s total cost to $287,100 a year, according to legislative estimates.

If that’s what it takes to make businesses stop breaking the law, then so be it! They should be verifying their employees status! How much does it cost the taxpayers to jail illegals? What is the costs property damages, and in lives that have been lost, because of illegals? Also consider the costs of educating children of illegals, and the healthcare that is provided for them.  If criminals aren’t sneaking into the country, stealing identities to get jobs they have no business even applying for, don’t you think the costs would drop dramatically? If the federal government won’t do it’s job to protect the LEGAL residents, then states have no choice but to step in, and businesses should be more than willing to do their part to aid in reducing the costs to the taxpayers.

Does Bob Corker Deserve Another Term?

16 April 2011, 8:20 am. 2 Comments. Filed under 2012, Opinion, Politics, Senate.

TN Sen Bob Corker raises $1.87 million in first quarter for re-election

U.S. Sen. Bob Corker has raised $1.87 million in the first quarter, pushing the Tennessee Republican’s total collections for his re-election bid to more than $4 million to date.

Chief of Staff Todd Womack said the fundraising totals indicate a “strong vote of confidence” for the freshman senator and his ongoing efforts to enact a binding cap on federal spending.

I wonder if many of the people who have already donated to Corker’s ‘war chest’ are aware of many of his votes, including the most recent one? You know the one that cuts $352 MILLION, instead of the promised $38 BILLION. The one that also continues taxpayer funding for the murder of innocents, also known as abortions at the most well known murder mill in the country, Planned Parenthood.

The Democrats held our military hostage for the sole purpose of getting RINOs to fold like old suits.  Obviously, it worked.  Neither Senator from the state of Tennessee stood on principle.

Don’t get me wrong….Corker isn’t the worst of the bunch.  He has stood with the people of Tennessee, and the country on numerous votes.   He has voted for repealing ObamaCare, and this is a good thing.  He’s been given a 0 rating repeatedly by the pro-abortion organizations, so why did he cave on this one?

One term I’ve heard used referring to Sen. Corker is “soft conservative”.  In my opinion, either you are, or you aren’t.  The wishy washy will not get the job done.  Partnering with Chris Dodd on financial bailout bills (which earned him the nickname of “Bailout Bob”) wasn’t a real bright move on his part.  To give him credit, he did bail on the bailout, but was it due to constituent pressure, or because he grew a backbone?  There may be some who have forgotten this, but I sure haven’t.

Will I support Corker?  At this point, I’m leaning towards a NO.  He really hasn’t impressed me all that much.  Actually, neither Senator from Tennessee has impressed me.  I didn’t vote for Alexander last time around….I left it blank!  I did research his opponent, but there was NO way I could cast a vote for him either.  If a serious, constitutional candidate is put forward, a social and fiscal conservative, you can bet, I will do my best to support him, or her.  If Bob Corker is the one on the ballot, it’s quite possible, I’ll leave it blank again.

Voter ID

15 April 2011, 5:18 pm. 4 Comments. Filed under Crime, Dhimmicrats, Massive Stupidity, Tennessee.

TN House approves photo ID to vote

A proposal that would require Tennessee voters to show photo identification before they can cast ballots passed the House on Thursday despite a legal opinion from the state attorney general that the Republican-led effort would violate the Tennessee and U.S. constitutions.

How? Where in either constitution does it say no one should have to prove they say they are when they go to vote? As a matter of fact, I thought this was already a requirement in TN. Or maybe, just where we live? I’ve shown my ID ever time I’ve gone to vote. I don’t have a problem. I pull it out, along with my VOTER REGISTRATION CARD!

On Wednesday, state Attorney General Bob Cooper said in the opinion that without a provision to supply voters with free ID cards, the measure “unduly burdens the right to vote” and would be an unconstitutional poll tax.

That is one of the more ridiculous things our AG has said, but then again, he’s the same AG that refused to join the lawsuits against ObamaCare. Gee, ya think he’s a Dem? Hmmm….  In order to get ANYTHING from the government, be it AFDC, food stamps, etc., you HAVE to have some sort of photo ID.  Now, please explain to me just how a poor person can qualify for aid, with ID, but can’t register to vote, and show ID to cast their vote, because it would be inconvenient?  Give me a break.  One more indication that Democrats are all in favor of vote fraud!  And I, for one, am beyond fed up!

Democrats have voiced concern that the measure will intimidate or otherwise disenfranchise legitimate voters, while Republicans have argued that it would ensure ballot integrity.

“We don’t want to institute a poll tax, or any type of impediment,” said House Minority Leader Craig Fitzhugh, a Ripley Democrat who requested the attorney general opinion.

Poll tax? Uh…no. Showing ID is NOT a freakin’ ‘poll tax’. Proof you have the right to vote in our elections? Oh, hell yes, we do! If they think impeding criminals who lost their right to vote, or illegals from participating in the process they are NOT entitled to, is wrong, then someone has some serious issues!

Hiding Future Tax Hikes on Tax Day 2011
The Foundry

Today, April 15, is typically Tax Day. Taxpayers would usually be furiously figuring out how much they owe Uncle Sam right about now. In case you didn’t know it, taxpayers this year get a three-day reprieve because of a holiday in Washington, D.C., commemorating President Abraham Lincoln’s emancipation of slaves in the District.

No matter what day Tax Day falls on in coming years, we’ll all be paying considerably higher taxes unless Washington’s reforms its reckless spending ways immediately. To make matters worse, Washington has been able to hide this enormous potential tax hike through all the deficit spending it is doing now.

In 2010, the federal government collected about $2.2 trillion in total tax revenue. Income taxes accounted for $900 billion of collections, or about 40 percent of all tax receipts. The federal government spent around $3.5 trillion, with the resulting deficit of $1.3 trillion made possible by borrowing.
