I wish you luck.  I shattered an ankle about 20 years ago during a bad landing following a parachute jump.  Years later, the bad ankle is now the good one. My advice is to stock up on DVDs & put a plastic lawn chair in the shower so it’s easy to back into.  Oh, & make sure you get plenty of comedies–it’s easier to deal with a disability when you’re laughing at it.

Don’t ya just love how that works out?  My ankle is more accurate than the weather man.  Heh.    I was wondering how I’m going to take a shower.  Mine is pretty high up and I already have to use to stool to even get in it!  LOL  Yeah…I’m short!  :?   This could get interesting, since I’m pretty much obsessive about showering.  LOL  Lucky for me, I’ve got BOXES of DVDs…some, I’ve never even watched.  :)

Well, the good news is that you won’t be doing more of those ‘Indian Rain Dances’!!!!

We don’t need more rain.   :)

    Good luck with things.

I feel for ya. My mom had that done to both knees (not at the same time), it’ll heal and most likely you’ll feel better and be more active because the problem that made replacement a necessity will be gone.

Do what your doctor and therapist tells ya to do, no more, no less, and you’ll heal faster.

I wonder if they’ll drug me during PT?  LOL  I’m allergic to pain!  But yeah…. I know all too well how much good it does, even though it hurts like hell.  sigh…

Actually, if your doctor doesn’t object, Tylenol might help a bit. Didn’t they give ya a nice prescription already?

As a professional, I don’t like to give so much medication that you feel no pain at all, pain is your body’s way of saying, “hey, something’s not right here!”

Sadly, no….the man evidently was too gleeful about doing a whack job on my bod.  LOL  Now see?  That’s what I thought….lots of pain….don’t do that.  Makes ya wonder why some folks people go to school to be a sadist.  :|   Just kidding….  I know….  I NEED to cooperate.  sigh….  But that doesn’t mean I won’t go into this with my sarcasm and whine factor intact!  :D

Too much pain can slow your recovery. Pain makes it harder to be compliant with therapy. In your case, being allergic to pain, probably more so.

And then there’s the government persecuting doctors for giving pain script narcotics (vicoden, codine, etc) even if it would be helpful or needed.

Anyways, this too shall pass, grit your teeth, curse the politics of pain relief, gird your loins, it’ll get better as time passes.

Well, I’ll TRY to be compliant….never been too good at that though.  Heh.  I’ve been advised to go into a rehab type place for a couple of weeks.  Crap!  Just what I need…. people poking and prodding me at all hours.  UGH!
