Don’t “Help”!

Obama: Midwest storms devastating, heartbreaking

President Barack Obama says he will travel to Missouri on Sunday to meet with people affected by the devastating tornadoes there.

The president said Tuesday he wants Midwesterners whose lives were upended by the deadly storms last weekend to know that the federal government will use all the resources at its disposal to help them recover and rebuild.

Dear Lord!  Don’t those poor people have enough problems right now?

“I want everybody in Joplin, everybody in Missouri, everybody in Minnesota, everybody across the Midwest to know that we are here for you,” the president said in London on day two of his four-country tour.

“The American people are by your side. We’re going to stay there until every home is repaired, until every neighborhood is rebuilt, until every business is back on its feet.”

If he’s serious, then he needs to keep the flippin’ federal government OUT OF THE WAY!

Netanyahu To Congress: We’re Not Going To Live That Way

24 May 2011, 11:48 am. 2 Comments. Filed under Congress.

If you missed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to Congress, you can watch it on C-Span. Well worth your time!  Unfortunately, they cut off the end of it…..RUDE!  BUT….you can read the whole speech here, or….. this is what they cut off:

And when I say tomorrow, I don’t mean some distant time in the future. I mean tomorrow. Peace can be achieved only around the negotiating table. The Palestinian attempt to impose a settlement through the United Nations will not bring peace. It should be forcefully opposed by all those who want to see this conflict end. I appreciate the President’s clear position on this issue. Peace cannot be imposed. It must be negotiated. But it can only be negotiated with partners committed to peace.

And Hamas is not a partner for peace. Hamas remains committed to Israel’s destruction and to terrorism. They have a charter. That charter not only calls for the obliteration of Israel, but says ‘kill the Jews wherever you find them’. Hamas’ leader condemned the killing of Osama bin Laden and praised him as a holy warrior. Now again I want to make this clear. Israel is prepared to sit down today and negotiate peace with the Palestinian Authority. I believe we can fashion a brilliant future of peace for our children. But Israel will not negotiate with a Palestinian government backed by the Palestinian version of Al Qaeda.

So I say to President Abbas: Tear up your pact with Hamas, Sit down and negotiate! Make peace with the Jewish state! And if you do, I promise you this. Israel will not be the last country to welcome a Palestinian state as a new member of the United Nations. It will be the first to do so.

My friends, the momentous trials of the last century, and the unfolding events of this century, attest to the decisive role of the United States in advancing peace and defending freedom. Providence entrusted the United States to be the guardian of liberty. All peoples who cherish freedom owe a profound debt of gratitude to your great nation. Among the most grateful nations is my nation, the people of Israel, who have fought for their liberty and survival against impossible odds, in ancient and modern times alike.

I speak on behalf of the Jewish people and the Jewish state when I say to you, representatives of America, Thank you. Thank you for your unwavering support for Israel. Thank you for ensuring that the flame of freedom burns bright throughout the world. May God bless all of you. And may God forever bless the United States of America.

Kind of makes you wonder if the cut off was intentional, doesn’t it. :?

He NEEDS To Apologize To US!

Obama Has Something To Apologize For
The Foundry

When President Ronald Reagan stood before the Brandenburg Gate in West Germany and famously demanded that Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev “Tear down this wall!” he brought to Europe—and indeed the world—America’s conviction that freedom and democracy are a powerful liberating force whose time had come for those living under communist oppression.

By contrast, as President Barack Obama travels throughout Europe this week and meets with U.S. allies, including the United Kingdom and Poland, he brings with him the baggage of his presidency—more than two years of a foreign policy that has neglected America’s friends in Europe. Though the President has embarked on a worldwide “apology tour” for what he believes are America’s transgressions, he now truly has something to apologize for.

From The Heart

24 May 2011, 2:40 am. Comments Off. Filed under Friends & Family, Weather.

We know as well as anyone how tight things are right now.  Between just day to day living, and all the medical bills, with more to come, we’re pretty strapped.  But I figured if we reached down deep, did without a ‘luxury’ or two, we could manage to help out those who, right now, have nothing.  They’ve lost almost everything.  I say almost, because, where there is life, there is hope.  I know things seems kind of hopeless to many in Joplin right now, but I think if we show them the same concern that we did to Alabama, and other parts of the country in recent months, practice what Jesus taught us, perhaps, their hearts will begin to heal.

My favorite is Samaritan’s Purse.  But of course, there is also the Red Cross, Salvation Army, and others.  You choose which feels right to you.  Or maybe your church is interested in taking up a special collection, or items that are of the greatest need, like water, nonperishable food, clothes, and maybe even some toy type things for the kids.

Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7

May God bless and watch over all of those affected.  They ARE our family and friends.

It’s Been A Monday!

23 May 2011, 4:33 pm. 4 Comments. Filed under Opinion.

So….I drive an hour and a half to Jackson, for my appointment, to get the MRI and xrays, right?  I was on time.  No problem.  While I’m sitting there waiting for them to call me in, a nurse comes out, calls my name, and proceeds to tell me….”We can’t do the MRI.”  Uh….ok….why?

Well, apparently, no one was paying any attention when I wrote down all my info, which included….I HAVE A PACEMAKER!  It turns out, if you have such a device in your bod, NO MRI.  It drains the battery.  Well, why the hell didn’t they tell me that in the first place!!  Jeeeez.  So, instead of having the MRI, and getting a fancy new fangled knee replacement, I have to have the old fashioned kind.  Now, I don’t know what the difference is, but I find it just a tad irritating. That’s 3 hours out of my life, and a half a tank of gas.  I think I’m going to charge HIM!  HUMPH!

Well, the whole day wasn’t shot.  I did go shopping!  :D

A Lesson

23 May 2011, 3:24 pm. Comments Off. Filed under Congress, Politics.

If you start with a cage containing five monkeys and inside the cage, hang a banana on a string from the top and then you place a set of stairs under the banana, before long a monkey will go to the stairs and climb toward the banana.

As soon as he touches the stairs, you spray all the other monkeys with cold water. After a while another monkey makes an attempt with same result … all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon when another monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys will try to prevent it.

Now, put the cold water away.

Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and attempts to climb the stairs. To his shock, all of the other monkeys beat the crap out of him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs he will be assaulted.

Next, remove another of the original five monkeys, replacing it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment… with enthusiasm.

Then, replace a third original monkey with a new one, followed by a fourth, then the fifth. Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs he is attacked. Most of the monkeys that are beating him up have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs. Neither do they know why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey.

Finally, having replaced all of the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys will have ever been sprayed with cold
water. Nevertheless, none of the monkeys will try to climb the stairway for the banana.

Why, you ask? Because in their minds… that is the way it has always been!

This, my friends, is how Congress operates… and is why, from time to time, all of the monkeys need to be REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME.

The Threat Is Still Real

After bin Laden
The Foundry

Days after the death of Osama bin Laden, two men were arrested in New York City as they attempted to purchase a hand grenade, guns and ammunition for an attack on a Manhattan synagogue while disguised as Orthodox Jews. It was one of at least 39 terrorist plots against the United States that have been foiled since 9/11. And though the attack was averted and bin Laden is lying dead in a watery grave, the terrorism threat remains, and much must be done to continue ensuring America’s defense in a post-bin Laden world.

The primary front in the global war against terrorists remains the war in Afghanistan. And as if the world needed another reminder of the challenges there, news came this morning that a roadside bomb killed four NATO soldiers in east Afghanistan today, the latest in a surge of violence brought on by the Afghan Taliban’s “spring offensive.” It is clear that though bin Laden’s death may have been a turning point in the fight against global terrorism, the Taliban, al-Qaeda and its affiliates will not dissolve immediately.

Psalm 68:1-6

1 Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.
2 As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melteth before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
3 But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yea, let them exceedingly rejoice.
4 Sing unto God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rideth upon the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.
5 A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.
6 God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

Hermain Cain?

Now there are 4 declared candidates. Of the 4, this guy is my front runner. Not saying I’m 100% convinced, but for right now…. In my opinion, he is, of the four, the most conservative. I’ve heard all kind of nonsense about him and the Federal Reserve. Get over it people. He doesn’t work for them anymore, and his comments about it not doing any good to audit them? Well, he’s likely right. People like that can hide anything they want, and you wouldn’t know, one way or the other. I found his speech today to be quite interesting, and thought I’d share….just in case ya missed it. :D

Obama’s Pledges: Meant To Be Broken

21 May 2011, 7:24 am. Comments Off. Filed under Feckless Weasels, Israel, Opinion.

Obama’s faithless pledges to Israel
Washington Times

The White House was caught by surprise by the furor over President Obama’s statements on Israel in his major foreign-policy speech on Thursday. Mr. Obama’s defenders pointed out his position is consistent with long-standing administration policy, which explains why the peace process has been a raging failure.

Apparently, the WH is in a constant state of surprise since the majority of the American people haven’t been jumping for joy every time Obama decides he’s going to dictate to others what they should do.

At one point, there was promise of hope and change. On June 4, 2008, then-candidate Barack Obama made an address to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) carefully calculated to appeal to Jewish voters concerned about his views towards Israel. “Let me be clear,” Mr. Obama said. “Israel’s security is sacrosanct. It is non-negotiable. … [A]ny agreement with the Palestinian people must preserve Israel’s identity as a Jewish state with secure, recognized, defensible borders.” In 2009, however, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton established the 1967 lines “with agreed swaps” as one of the starting points for negotiations.

I’m getting the impression that no one in the Obama administration is acquainted with reality. The reality in the Middle East is that Israel has a very tiny strip of land in which they actually have flourished, and Obama wants to take away a large portion of that land, and give it to people who have done NOTHING to create, or promote a peaceful existence with their neighbor. Land for peace does NOT work. It hasn’t in the past, and it sure won’t in the future.

Mr. Obama also pledged in 2008 that it would be his policy that “Jerusalem will remain the capital of Israel and it must remain undivided.” This pledge was broken almost immediately upon taking office. White House demands in 2009 that Israel freeze new construction – which the administration referred to as “settlements” – in eastern sections of Jerusalem effectively affirmed Palestinian claims on the city, which they envision as their own capital.

It should have been apparent, to anyone with half a brain, that after sitting in a so called church, listening to a pastor (and mentor) rant about the evil jooooooooooooz, there was no way Obama could be pro-Israel. His entire upbringing was based on the evils of America, capitalism and Jews. But no. The sham was bought, hook, line, and sinker.  While in Israel right after the election, we happened to be touring the tunnels by the Western Wall, with a small group of Jews from New York.  The tour guide asked them what they thought of the new president.  The response?  “We LOVE him!  He’s so WONDERFUL!”  When the guide asked why they felt this way, they really didn’t have a coherent answer, just more of the hopey changey nonsense.  The rest of us just looked at each other, embarrassed that an American, especially a Jewish American, could have been so hoodwinked.

During the campaign, Senator Obama made a LOT of promises to the American people.  He did promise a ‘fundamental transformation’.  He’s kept that one.  America has transformed into a country I do not recognize.  America has deserted her closest allies, and embraced those who would destroy her.
