Read This Book

Kevin McCoullough has managed to put things in perspective like no one else has been able to….in plain English.

The Kindle version is $9.99, hardback – $13.59, new. I’m fairly sure it will be in paperback in the not too distant future, as well.

A snippet:

We heard a lot about those who were unable to “make it in America” during the 2008 campaign.  Despite the clear record of opportunity that America has delivered, and despite the fact that people across every race and nationality have found success here, we were reminded again and again from then candidate Obama that poor people still exist. We were told a lot of things about them as well.

We were told that they were inept in their efforts to help themselves. The were too dumb to make clear choices. We were told constantly that the only way to help them is to grow government. Democrats, and the progressive Left in particular, exploit the poor; the write speeches about them and manipulate their “unrepresented voices” in debates. But one things became increasingly clear from the Obama administration and the popular Left in America: in my opinion, at least, they haven’t had in the past and they do not now have any interest in genuinely helping the poor.

Read this book. Read some hard truths about the man that was put into the Oval Office, solely on the color of his skin. It sure wasn’t because he is up to the task, or had the ability to lead, and we know he has a seriously hearing problem, since he’s been incapable of listening to his bosses….that would be US.

If you think this first term has been disastrous, just give him 4 more years to finish us off.

1 Peter 5:4-7

4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:
7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Nope…got nuthin’ to say. Kind of fed up. Or maybe it’s burnout? Or maybe I just need to take the day off? Or two? That seem to be happening a lot lately. Well, I guess when there is so much happening on this side of the computer screen, sometimes, it’s kind of difficult to give a flip about what’s happening in the rest of the world.

The Debate

6 May 2011, 9:12 am. Comments Off. Filed under 2012, Opinion.

Well, I DVR’d the debate.  Really wasn’t in the mood last night.

Ok…I can tell ya….Johnson is out!

As usual, Ron Paul does speak his mind, some of which I agree with, but I just can’t support him for president.  He’s a wee bit too flaky.  Ok, MORE than just a wee bit.

Pawlenty….nope!  Too much of a greenie.

Santorum?  He’s done ok.  I’ve always liked him, but I just don’t see him as a strong candidate.

So, that’s leaves us with Herman Cain.  While quite impressive, but I can’t quite get there yet.

Just my rough take on the event.  I really wished some of the other had shown up……like Bachman and West.  :?

It’s Just Lipstick on a Pig, Mr. President
The Foundry

Despite the good news this week about Osama bin Laden’s demise, all is not rosy for President Barack Obama — at least in the eyes of the American people. The approval of his handling of the economy hit an all-time low with only 34 percent of Americans giving him a thumbs up, according to a CBS/New York Times poll.

Looking for a reason why? According to the Labor Department’s monthly jobs report, unemployment rose from 8.8 percent to 9 percent in April. And though the U.S. economy added 244,000 jobs, beating expectations, the bad news is that when the bar for success is set so low, even increasing unemployment and decent job growth can seem like a silver lining on a dark and stormy cloud. Or if you want another metaphor, try “lipstick on a pig.”

America: Suicide By Obama

Obama’s Anti-Energy Policies Are Bankrupting America
The Foundry

Randall Stilley has witnessed firsthand the Obama administration’s job-killing agenda. As the president and chief executive of Seahawk Drilling, he had to lay off 632 employees before filing for bankruptcy — a direct result of President Barack Obama’s anti-energy policies.

Stilley’s company owned and operated 20 shallow-water rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. The lack of energy production — a consequence of Obama’s drilling moratorium and subsequent “permitorium” — led to Seahawk’s demise. Now he’s speaking out, sharing Seahawk’s story in a new video from Heritage and the Institute for Energy Research. (Click to watch.)

It’s an unfortunate example of how policies in Washington are harming American jobs and also squelching energy production at a time when consumers are paying $4-per-gallon for gasoline.

Just Gotta Keep Your Sense Of Humor

5 May 2011, 7:01 am. Comments Off. Filed under Chuckles, Tennessee, Weather.

The South has had it pretty rough recently, devastating tornadoes with the loss of lives in the hundreds, torrential rains, and a lot of flooding.  Right now, Memphis is bracing for more from the Mighty Mississippi. Here in Podunk, we’ve watched the Tennessee River overflow it’s banks and flood streets and homes.  But all that is no reason to lose your sense of humor.
