Nashville-area churches reshape Vacation Bible School
Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3900 West End Ave., is offering new life applications to children: the value of sustainable living. Sophie Maness, director of Christian education, said the church has a duty to show children how to be sustainable.
“This generation is growing up with recycling and all of those pieces of what it means to be in an era of global warming. If we are not modeling in our church how to take care for the world, then our message does not match,” Maness said.
The theme for Westminster’s Vacation Bible School is “Renew.” Children will focus on applying the biblical parable of the sower to real life. Instead of the types of arts and crafts traditionally offered at VBS, the children will do things like plant flowers outside the church to learn about good versus bad soil.
When I was a young sprout growing up, I attended our Presbyterian church’s VBS every summer. We learned things, like Psalm 23, and all about Moses, and Solomon, and King David, the prophets, and most especially about Jesus. Now, they are teaching them the difference between good dirt and bad dirt? I’d have to say there a lot of ‘bad dirt’ being spread in churches these days.

Rep. Weiner Admits to Sending Lewd Twitter Photo, Acknowledges Other Explicit Conversations
Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., admitted Monday in a stunning press conference that he sent a lewd photo to a woman over Twitter, after claiming for days that he was hacked. Saying he is “deeply ashamed,” he also said he’s had explicit exchanges with six women over the last three years, some of which occurred after he got married in 2010.
But the seven-term congressman said he would not resign, expressing hope that he could win back the trust of his constituents.
“This was me doing a dumb thing and doing it repeatedly and then lying about it,” Weiner said. “And that’s all there is.”
Every time Weiner opens his mouth it’s a ‘dumb thing’. This incident is no different. Although, ‘dumb’ isn’t how I would describe his behavior in this case. I find the man highly offensive in the best of circumstances. His arrogance is only second to Obama’s.
It’s obvious the …… man …….. has no concern for his constituents, otherwise he would resign immediately. I would suggest his colleagues pressure him to do the RIGHT thing, and take his shame out of OUR House.
He lied to his colleagues, he lied to his constituents, and he lied to the American people.
He may be wiping his eyes, but there is not a tear in sight!
Are there no men of honor on the left? If you judge by this guy, the answer would be NO!

I’m sure you’ve no doubt heard all the cackling going on in the media about Sarah Palin’s supposed faux pas about Paul Revere. Well, in case you weren’t aware, it wasn’t a gaffe (the sort made so famous by VP Biden). She was 100% correct. Of course, her being right won’t matter to the lame stream or the obsessive Palin haters. But, perhaps all those who are having such a high ol’ time, looking like fools, should remember……at the time Paul Revere made his famous ride, there was no United States of America, and all the residents were British subjects. Yep….he DID warn the British……. in more ways than one. 
So, who is REALLY the dummy, eh? Sheesh! Even I knew that! Pfft!
Added: Just more proof that the liberal elites aren’t as smart as they want to believe.
It’s A Matter Of Morals and Morale
I’ve always had a great deal of respect for the men and women who serve in the military, as a whole. Granted, there have been some, over the years, that did not live up to the expectations of their nation, but you’re going to find that in every walk of life. When I read about Gates’ ‘farewell to the troops’, sympathy was added. How many who joined, voluntarily, due to their moral values, and love of country, will opt out of re-upping when the time comes?
“Sir, we joined the Marine Corps because the Marine Corps has a set of standards and values that is better than that of the civilian sector. And we have gone and changed those values and repealed the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy,” the sergeant told Gates during the question and answer session.
“We have not given the Marines a chance to decide whether they wish to continue serving under that. Is there going to be an option for those Marines that no longer wish to serve due to the fact their moral values have not changed?” he asked.
“No,” Gates responded. “You’ll have to complete your … enlistment just like everybody else.”
There have always been gays in the military, serving well, and living their lives quietly. This whole fiasco has not been about so called ‘gay rights’. It’s a political agenda to weaken the military itself. I have no problem with gays serving their country, just like any other American loving hero. I DO however, have a problem with the openly gay serving with men and women who find such a lifestyle completely contrary to their faith and values being FORCED to continue their service.

What does the ‘D’ in D-Day stand for?
The short answer: nothing.
In military terms, D-Day and H-Hour are sometimes used for the day and hour on which a combat attack or operation is to be initiated. They are used when the day and hour have not yet been determined, or when secrecy is important.
When used in combination with plus or minus signs, these terms indicate the length of time preceding or following a specific action. Thus, H-3 means 3 hours before H-Hour, and D+3 means 3 days after D-Day. H+75 minutes means H-Hour plus 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Latinos Comprise Nearly Half of All People Sentenced for Federal Felonies
The 70 undocumented immigrants, mostly men and mostly in their 20s and 30s, fill the 16-seat jury box and seven rows of wooden benches normally reserved for the public in Tucson’s gleaming federal courthouse. The courtroom is expansive, with a regally high ceiling, and is filled with the pungent smell of dried sweat.
In only an hour or so, the dozens of immigrants will agree to plead guilty and be sentenced in a process that could play out for months for most federal defendants.
The scene offers a window into a federal immigration enforcement effort that is pushing the limits of the U.S. justice system, overwhelming federal judges and escalating the ranks of Latinos sent to prison.
I don’t know….just a thought here, but perhaps, just maybe, if we would actually stop them from crossing the border, ILLEGALLY, then, y’know….maybe….they wouldn’t be wasting OUR tax dollars? Just thinking out loud.
There’s an old saying, from a rather wise dude, Benjamin Franklin, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” Well, excuse me, but wouldn’t it make a whole lot more sense if we actually PREVENTED THEM from sneaking across the borders, with their drugs and ‘migrants’, than to have to house them in OUR jails and prisons, at OUR expense?

Unemployment in the United States increased again last month to 9.1 percent, with the Obama economy adding only 54,000 jobs—the fewest in eight months. Today’s terrible jobs report is much worse than expected. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones Newswires had grimly predicted 160,000 new jobs and an unemployment rate of 8.9 percent earlier this week.
But despite the dismal news that 13.9 million Americans remain unemployed, President Barack Obama is holding a victory party today at a Chrysler plant in Toledo, Ohio, trumpeting the only jobs he can manage to create—those bought and paid for directly by the U.S. taxpayer.
