New York Times Reader Kills Dozens in Norway
by Ann Coulter
The New York Times wasted no time in jumping to conclusions about Anders Behring Breivik, the Norwegian who staged two deadly attacks in Oslo last weekend, claiming in the first two paragraphs of one story that he was a “gun-loving,” “right-wing,” “fundamentalist Christian,” opposed to “multiculturalism.”
It may as well have thrown in “Fox News-watching” and “global warming skeptic.”
This was a big departure from the Times‘ conclusion-resisting coverage of the Fort Hood shooting suspect, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan . Despite reports that Hasan shouted “Allahu Akbar!” as he gunned down his fellow soldiers at a military medical facility in 2009, only one of seven Times articles on Hasan so much as mentioned that he was a Muslim.
Of course, that story ran one year after Hasan’s arrest, so by then, I suppose, the cat was out of the bag.
Rehab!
Today, I put on actual clothes, waddled to the passenger door of the truck, and headed off to my very first session of outpatient rehab. Gee. That wasn’t too bad. Yeah….considering all they did was evaluate how far I’ve come with home exercises, asked questions, did a bit of measuring and such, wasn’t bad at all. Doin’ pretty good actually. The guy, who is all of 10 years old, says I’m fairly far along, so this is a good thing. I’ve been doing all the horrors of the torture chamber requirements, like a good girl. Yeah, I complain, but I do it!
I’ve weaned myself off the walker, mostly, and have been using the cane. I even have managed to use nothing when there is something to hang on to. The problem with losing the walker….I’ve got this great little bag hanging on it that holds all kinds of stuff I have to transport with me….smokes, phone, Kindle, drugs, etc. Oh well, reckon I’ll adapt. Of course, it takes even longer for me to make it across the room than before, but when ya think about it, how much of a hurry am I really in?
One bright spot….I’m actually getting a little more sleep. So, I suppose things are healing. Still have some incidents of excruciating pain AFTER doing some of the exercises, but they keep telling me, it WILL get better.
I sure hope so, cuz those ice picks stabbings and outrageous cramps are starting to grate my nerves. The Mr’s too!
So, starting Friday, we get to the meat and potatoes. The REAL agony begins. BRING IT ON!!
To “Protect” and Control
Tangled Up in Washington’s Red Tape
The Foundry
For months, Washington has focused on solving its uncontrolled addiction to spending. But while Congress and the White House use one hand to reach into your back pocket to take and spend your hard-earned dollars, they’re using another hand to wreak a different kind of nefarious harm—the proliferation of regulations, rules, and red tape, all of which impose heavy costs on America.
In the just-released “Red Tape Rising: A 2011 Mid-Year Report,” The Heritage Foundation’s James Gattuso and Diane Katz explain the pervasiveness of government’s intrusive regulatory hand (that oftentimes goes go well beyond ensuring product safety) and how it controls nearly every facet of your daily life.
tax it….Tax It…..TAX IT!!!!!
Times Food Writer Mark Bittman Wants Big Government to ‘Fix’ Your Diet with Higher Taxes
Bittman’s latest melodramatic bid as head of the food police involves raising taxes to change poor people’s eating habits to save “tens of millions of lives” and “tens if not hundreds of billions of dollars in health care costs.”
Yet the food industry appears incapable of marketing healthier foods. And whether its leaders are confused or just stalling doesn’t matter, because the fixes are not really their problem. Their mission is not public health but profit, so they’ll continue to sell the health-damaging food that’s most profitable, until the market or another force skews things otherwise. That “other force” should be the federal government, fulfilling its role as an agent of the public good and establishing a bold national fix.
His solution? “Tax things like soda, French fries, doughnuts and hyperprocessed snacks.” The fulls-spread article is beefed up with lots of charts and graphics on the wonders of what “a small federal tax could do.”
I have a MUCH better idea. How about we tax stupidity! The liberals maroons would have the national debt paid off in no time at all, PLUS we’d have one heck of a surplus!!
One More Gone
Rep. Wu to Resign Following Accusations Over Sexual Encounter With Young Woman
Democratic Rep. David Wu, facing eroding support from his party, plans to resign following allegations that he had a forced sexual encounter with a young woman last year.
The Oregon congressman said Tuesday that he would step down pending “resolution” of the debt-ceiling crisis. The announcement comes after he initially told colleagues he wanted to stay in office until the end of his term in early 2013.
“The time has come to hand on the privilege of high office,” Wu said in a statement. “I cannot care for my family the way I wish while serving in Congress and fighting these very serious allegations.”
Wu cited the “well-being of my children” in announcing his decision. He also said his resignation would “avoid any distraction from the important work at hand in Washington.”
Fine. Now, if we could just get rid of the rest of the liars, cheats, and thieves, this country might have a fighting chance.
Wanna Buy A Town?
For $799,000, you can buy town of Scenic
Scenic, once known as a Wild West town next to the Badlands, now finds itself in an unlikely place: listed for sale by the woman who has owned much of the town for years.
And she is hoping to get as much as $799,000 for 46 acres of West River land that includes 12 acres of a town that holds fond memories but finds itself in danger of becoming another Western ghost town.
“The businesses and land has always been family-run, but now, it’s time for someone else to come in and bring it back to life,” said LeeAnn Keester, the daughter of Twila Merril, who has listed most of the town of Scenic for sale. “It’s just me and my mom now, and now, with her health being what it is, it’s just too much for us.”
The town of Scenic was established in the early 1900s to serve as a stopping point alongside the railroad that went through the town, said Leo Stangle, who has lived in the eastern Pennington County town since 1949 and owns Gopher Choker, a pest-control business.
Have you ever said….”If I was in charge….”, or “If I ran the show…”? Well, here’s your chance! I mean, if you own the town, shouldn’t you get to make the rules?
Ok, perhaps not to any extreme extent, but still you must be able to have a say in things, right?
So, I’m curious. If you owned your own town, how would you run it? Would you turn it into a hippie commune, based on the liberal ideology? Or would it be totally free market, or something in between. What type of laws would you put in place? I’ve actually given this a wee bit of thought since I read this story, and ya know what? I don’t think I’d want that much responsibility.
BUT….I can think of a few things I’d do. First, I’d be really discriminatory. Heh. Not against color or religion or anything, but against liberals. I wouldn’t allow liberals in my town. Rude, eh? Well, shoot, look at what they’ve done to Detroit! Liberals kill economic growth, so there wouldn’t be any allowed. You don’t work, you don’t eat. Simple as that.
Of course, neighbors would help neighbors in time of need, so there wouldn’t be any interference by those nasty ol’ federal gubmint types. Kids would be taught gun safety from an early age. That would be law. And justice would be swift. YOu kill, you die. You steal, your work off the debt to the one you stole from, and MAYBE you’ll get to stay. But odds are, there wouldn’t be much crime since EVERYONE would be armed, so that might not be an issue.
Education would be dealt with on a local level. No federal indoctrination! Kids would be taught TRUE history. They’d learn to add, subtract, multiply, divide, how to SPELL, grammar, and how to speak properly, along with necessary skills to actually make a decent life for themselves.
Well, that’s just a few things I came up with for my town. There is more, but I’m really curious… How would you run YOUR town?
What America Needs Is REAL Leadership
America Needs a Better Solution
The Foundry
Americans tuning in last night to watch President Barack Obama’s primetime address from the East Room of the White House might have thought they stumbled upon yet another re-run from the networks. Instead of hearing news that Washington finally broke the debt ceiling stalemate, viewers were treated to more of the same from their President. He still had no plan for dealing with government overspending and overborrowing, and he repeated his never-ending call for tax hikes. Unfortunately, the plans proposed by House Speaker John Boehner (R–OH) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D–NV) don’t get the job done, either.
Another Travesty
Ex-TSU student pleads guilty in shooting death of Army recruiter
A man on trial for fatally shooting an Army recruiter and wounding another one stopped his murder trial today by pleading guilty to the charges.
Abdulhakim Muhammad, who was born Carlos Bledsoe in Memphis, was on trial for shooting Pvt. William Andrew “Andy’’ Long and Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula outside an Army recruiting station here in 2009. Long died in the attack.
By pleading guilty, Muhammad avoided the death penalty and accepted a sentence of life without parole.
Muhammad, a former TSU student, says that the shooting was an act of war and that he is a jihad warrior affiliated with al-Qaida.
So, he says he did it, we all knew he did it, and now we, the taxpayers get to support him for the rest of his life. I have a real problem with this. He shot 2 people at the recruiting station with the intent to murder both of them. Why, pray tell, should he not get the same? This is not justice. I’ve never believed admitting to murder should get a free pass for anyone. This makes me angry! Plus, I see this as an act of treason as well:
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. Article 3, Sec. 3.
He flat out says it was an act of war! Shoot the SOB, and put him out of OUR misery!

The Irresponsible President
Obama’s Dangerous Debt Ceiling Strategy
The Foundry
President Obama kicked off the weekend with a testy Friday night press conference warning of the drastic consequences of failing to raise the debt limit, the havoc it would wreak on financial markets, and the disastrous repercussions for the poor and middle class. That message of fear was reiterated throughout the weekend, bookended this morning by a senior White House official who says there’s a 50/50 chance that the standoff in Washington will not be resolved by the August 2 deadline.
But it’s not fear for fear’s sake. The White House is employing the same cynical, irresponsible political strategy to force Congress’ hand that it started in January, using Wall Street as its foil. This morning, NPR—as usual and unsurprisingly—had the zeitgeist of the Obama White House just right. Cokie Roberts, its long-time commentator, said:
[T]here’s a certain element of waiting for the markets to weigh in and show Congress that they have to get serious here…You see the Administration almost kind of, almost daring the markets to respond, yesterday saying that the Congress had to act by 4:00 yesterday afternoon before the Asian markets started to open.
How true, and how irresponsible. The Obama Administration spent all weekend trying to talk down markets, hoping to make use of any artificial drop for political purposes.
Act Of Terror
Europe on alert after Norway attacks
Police around Europe are on increased alert against far-right extremism as the man accused of killing 93 people in Norway’s bomb and shooting attack prepares to face charges in an Oslo court on Monday.
Anders Behring Breivik, a 32-year-old Norwegian, has admitted bombing government buildings in central Oslo on Friday before shooting dead scores of young people at a Labour party summer camp on Utøya, an island outside the capital. Under Norwegian law, he faces a maximum of 21 years in prison if found guilty of what Jens Stoltenberg, prime minister, called Norway’s “national tragedy”.
Seriously? Only 21 years? That is definitely not a case of the punishment fitting the crime!
His lawyer said Mr Breivik had told him the attacks were “atrocious, but necessary” as a 1,500-page online manifesto emerged in which the alleged killer detailed his preparations and anti-Islamic motivations for the attacks. A YouTube video also emerged of Mr Breivik wearing a wetsuit and brandishing an automatic rifle.
“Atrocious, but necessary”? Why? Why was it necessary to murder children at camp? The only people who do such things are Muslims, and this guy is apparently anti-muslim. Why use the same tactics as those he is supposedly against? I’m afraid I do not understand.
As the events unfolded, I noticed that reports were quick to blame the Muslims, which, when you think about it, is a logical choice. Who is the number one group who attacks without regard to innocents? So, naturally, the assumption would be that it is the same group as it always is, right? The media would have done much better getting facts first, then reporting. This apparently is the new norm for the MSM. Report, then learn the facts. Many a life has been ruined by such irresponsible actions.
In his online manifesto, the authenticity of which was confirmed by his lawyer, Mr Breivik wrote that “Muslims must be considered wild animals”. However, in an apparent explanation for his targeting Norway’s centre-left government and its political allies, he added: “Do not blame the wild animals but rather the multiculturalist … traitors who allowed these animals to enter our lands.”
Of course he has a manifesto. Don’t the crazy ones always have a manifesto? Yet with these words, I can well understand the frustration he must be feeling. His country has been taken over by the liberals who fail to see the dangers staring them right in the face. I see similar happening right here in the U.S. However, that does NOT excuse such barbaric behavior! Lowering oneself to the level of one’s perceived enemies makes you no better than them.
A senior politician for Norway’s opposition Conservative party said: “He’s the first anti-Islamic terrorist, a new type of rightwing extremist … It’s a pan-European, anti-Islamic, anti-elitist movement that tends towards conspiracy theories and sees everything in black and white.”
Is it a “conspiracy theory” if they really are out to destroy you, and your way of life?
Meanwhile, some of Britain’s mosques said they were adding extra security in the wake of the deadly Norway attacks, Muslim community leaders said on Sunday.
The crazy person didn’t target mosques. As best I can figure out, he didn’t target Muslims at all, just those who have tolerated the creeping islamification. But why the kids at camp? What exactly did that camp have to do with his distorted view? I know of no one who condones such actions!
My thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims of this heinous act!
Road Trip and Stuff
Went to see the doc yesterday. Not a trip I’d recommend if ya aren’t exactly ready to sit in a car for a couple of hours if ya can’t get comfortable. I never knew the passenger seat of my truck was so….uncomfortable. No one ever said, and it’s not a spot where I sit. I thought by the time we got there, I would be ready to scream a few obscenities, but I managed to maintain some decorum, and behaved like a lady. Now, what facial expressions I shared, I have no idea, but I did get a sympathetic grin or two. I must be quite facially expressive. Hmmm….
Doc said I’m doing rather well. Uh huh. Now, I know he’s the expert, and all that, but seriously? These horrific cramps are normal? That just doesn’t seem right! But, I’m going to take Maggie’s advice and try Gator Aid. Hey…if the upped dosage of pain killers isn’t helping, maybe that will. One can only hope! Seriously, did he have to do into detail and describe the procedure? I felt a strong need for one of those airline barf bags. It was icky! Cut down the middle, pull the skin over, cut through the side…..no, I could have really done without THAT!
Also, I am officially OFF the Marquis de Sade’s torture device! WHOO HOO! The bad part….I have to actually do the physical exercise myself, with no aid from the machine. Oh joy! More pain.
That’s ok. In the long run, I AM tough, and I CAN handle. I just enjoy whining.
Hey…I’m female, and I do it well. At least I whine with a smile, right?
Needless to say, I was stretched out in the backseat with a pillow for the 2 hour ride home. Heh. Wasn’t a whole lot better, being goosed the seat belt, but I could handle that by shifting around frequently.
I’m not going to push myself past the breaking point, but I have got to hurry up and get back to some semblance of humanity. That’s a fairly long drive to S.E. Texas, and I have to be there at least by the 7th of August, preferably sooner. That should give me enough time, right? I WILL be doubling the time it take to get there, stopping frequently to stretch and such. Even with these dadburn shots I’ve been getting in my stomach on a daily basis, blood clots are still a serious concern. So, I will take all precautions, and then some.
You see, I have a grandson to meet face to face for the first time in 17 years, and I am NOT going to miss this opportunity! NO WAY!

He would be the one of the left. Short Person, who I’ve mentioned many times before, is the one on the right. She’s pretty ecstatic to finally have the big brother she always wanted. They have been texting back and forth pretty much nonstop since she got his number. Truthfully, we’re all extremely thrilled he is back in our lives! The strongest memory I have of him, other than him peeing on me when I changed his diaper, was shortly after he was born, he was laying in a bassinet in Brat’s hospital room, sleeping. His older sister, Jr, was about 2 at the time and was totally enamored of the little ‘doll’. Then….he moved. You have never heard such a screech come out of a small child in your life. The nurses came running, thought someone was hurt. You see, dolls aren’t suppose to move. That little girl was darn near hysterical! It scared her SO bad! I’m sorry….I had to laugh. From an adult’s perspective, it was hilarious!
So, you see, I have an excellent motivator to get it in gear, so I can go!
I have a LOT of work to do, and little time to do it. Computers will be an after thought for a while longer I guess.
Well, unless something seriously strikes my fancy, or makes my blood boil….then I just might have to insert a rant or two, for good measure, don’cha know.
A couple of down sides….I’m going to miss Britaney’s baby shower!
I was actually looking forward to it. I love buying baby stuff, especially when I know I won’t be the one having to deal with it on a regular basis. Now, I won’t mind baby sitting if she needs me to, but the 24/7 baby smell…..been there, done that….PPPPPP UUUU!!!
I also had to cancel my reservation for the Smart Girl Summit in St Louis. I was sooooooooooo looking forward to the gathering this year. Lots of terrific conservative ladies, great speakers, great sessions, and good times. I would have had to leave this coming Wednesday, and unfortunately, I am just not ready for that.
And Herman Cain is one of the speakers! Double
! Oh well, next year.
It’s still ugly, but I gotta admit, it IS getting better! I just wish I’d stop running over my own feet with that silly walker.

I wonder how much of this old lady equipment I’m going to have to take with me so I don’t hurt m’self? Hmmm… Brat’s house isn’t exactly old woman proofed! sigh…

Some Random Thoughts
While recuperating, I might not be doing a lot of blogging, or watching 24/7 news, but I have been doing a lot of thinking. That would probably explain the increased headaches with extra bitchiness.
This debt mess Congress has gotten us into should be a rather simple solve. However, there are way too many people sucking off the public teat who whine and complain if it even looks like someone is going to take away some of their goody bag. For the love of pete people!
Social Security was a ridiculous idea back when. It sounded nice….let’s take care of our old folks, but that isn’t the job of government. It’s up to individuals and families to deal with their elderly. And ya know what? Docs are keeping people alive longer, but how about quality of life? People should die. Sounds pretty bad, doesn’t it, but it happens to be true. We were not meant to live forever, so why do we try? My life is no more important than yours, and visa versa. The same goes for Medicare. I’m sorry…these are NOT sacred cows. They are bankrupting the country, and need to be fazed out over a period of time. Leave it be for those over a certain age. The youngers should be given a refund of what they have paid in. They should take that money, invest it, use it as they please, or bury it in the back yard. Their choice. They SHOULD use it to prepare for their own old age. Be prepared for their elder years, and stop expecting their grandchildren to support some strangers with a portion of their income.
By the way, when I say fazed out, I don’t mean like in the next 15 minutes. Obviously, that can’t be done. First, ya gotta send folks through rehab to fight their addiction. Let’s say, starting today, if you are lucky enough to land a job, you will NOT be paying into SS, or Medicare. NO, that money usually taken by the federal government will go into YOUR hand. You earned, you keep it. What you do with it, well, that would be up to you. Will you look towards the future, and the day you will no longer be bringing home a paycheck? Or, as so many of us have become accustomed to doing, expect someone else to take care of you. Will you be a grownup, responsible for yourself, or will you be a whining titty baby, demanding that your neighbor’s children give you THEIR hard earned money because you were too freakin’ irresponsible and lazy to worry about YOUR own future?
Before all this entitlement crap came along, there were churches, and other charitable organizations, that cared for the elderly when the need arose. Church members helped out those who were ill and unable to work for a while. It’s what a community does. It’s what family does. Or, is suppose to do. No one expected the federal government to come in and take control of their lives, and most would be appalled at the thought. Now days, we’ve got the mind set that gubmint cures all ills. Pfft! Nope. It doesn’t. It actually has created more problems because of their policies over the last 100+ years. WE use to be the government, but now it’s a far off, faceless bureaucracy, made up of millions of individuals who believe they know how best to run your life, and how to spend your money. And people actually believe this is ‘normal’? Very frightening.
Since ObamaCare is nothing more than one big tax burden, I’d say the first step in getting all this government spending under control is to ax that sucker. Then, start weeding out the various bureaucracies that are answerable to no one, yet have taken control of all aspects of business, whether it’s where you are allowed to build your new plant that will employ 100s if not 1000s of individuals, or whether or not you can actually sell a product that would make life a wee bit easier for the general public. Someone has decided you can’t do that, so the “law” says “You can’t do that!” No one said they could have that power, they just took it, and we’ve rolled over and footed the bills.
If you want to support the arts, by all means, do it. But don’t ask me to pay for a piece of crap statue that looks like a bomb blew up a lump of steel and that’s how the pieces landed. Let’s face it, a crucifix in urine is not art, but if you think so, then YOU pay for it. How many millions have been wasted over the years on so called art that ain’t? If you are good, and if someone likes your work, then you will sell it. If it sucks, get a real job cuz you sure don’t need some fool in the government encouraging you to continue in making garbage. We have enough trash without the taxpayer footing the bill.
There are actually too many alphabet organizations that are not necessary to our well being, that should be, and NEED to be gutted, or done away with altogether. Imagine how much money would be left in the coffers? Your community wants a bike path? Raise the money from your OWN community to build it. Volunteer your time to actually build it. Why ask someone in Spokane to pay for a path in your park over in Altoona?
How much does it cost the American taxpayer to support the IRS? Repeal the 16th Amendment. Why should we pay thieves to steal from us? That has NEVER made a bit of sense.
And let’s take a good look at Congress itself. We have 100 senators, and 435 supposed folks to represent WE, The People. Now, I don’t know about you, but I don’t feel very well represented. How much do those yahoos make a year? In January of 2010, each regular member of the house got $174,000, and the speaker gets bumped up to $223,500, and the majority and minority leaders get a bit extra ($193,400) in their paychecks as well. Senators, oddly enough, make a little less than House members. But it’s still in the same range. Why? What exactly do they do that warrants such fat paychecks? The average person paying for them to be in D.C. doesn’t make anywhere near that, and heaven forbid our men and women in uniform should earn even a fraction of that! PLUS, they get staff budgets. Again. Why? Get a secretary, one or two aids, and voila. That’s all they need. Remember Nancy’s flower scandal? Who do you think footed THAT bill! Cut their salaries in half! Better yet, how about a third? Not a one of them needs the money, cuz they pretty much bought their way into office anyway. Most of them are millionaires, and if they aren’t when they get there, they sure do leave as one. They were intended to be citizen legislaters….not career politicians getting rich off the back of the general populations.
When it comes to cutting spending, what’s the first thing they use the machete on? The military. And the military is one of th FEW things Congress actually has the authorization to fund. The one thing we NEED, and they want to gut it. There is something really wrong with that mind set!
Ok, perhaps I have a simplistic view of the whole issue, but then again, it SHOULD be simple. Washington has made it so complicated, the pinky finger has NO clue what the ring finger is up to….never mind the left and right hands. D.C. is addicted to spending. If it was their own money, that would be one thing. It’s not. It’s our money, and they have not been very good stewards. One city in a large country has become the seat of tyranny, and needs to be swept clean of the slime that has accumulated. It might take years, but if we start now, we just might get it done in time to save our country for our grandchildren.
WHOO HOO!
It’s a ‘red letter’ date! I got in AND out of the shower all by my lonesome!

Sounds like such a small thing, doesn’t it. Well, believe me….it’s a BIG thing around here. LOL
