President Bolton?
While the inability to get a decent night’s sleep is a serious drawback for my sanity and well being, there is also a plus. I can snoop through the internet on my phone, and email things I find of interest to myself. Yeah….sounds really exciting, doesn’t it. Normally, I just try to read myself back to sleep, after taking a pain killer of course, but sometimes, ya gotta have a bit of a variety, right?
So, last night, while doing my wee hours of the morning snooping, I came across a column written by John Bolton on Human Events from the 8th. I like Bolton, so I read through it, emailed it to myself, and read it again this morning. I like him even more. The man is plain spoken, and has a tendency not to play political suck up.
Adam Smith wrote in The Wealth of Nations that “the first duty of the sovereign, that of protecting the society from the violence and invasion of other independent societies, can be performed only by means of a military force.” Today, failing to protect our national security inevitably endangers our economic prosperity by making us vulnerable to global adversaries.
It is clear that President Obama does not agree with Smith’s wisdom. Obama’s policies are jeopardizing not only our national security and economy, but our constitutional sovereignty too.
While George W. Bush was concerned about our security from the Islamonazis, he paid scant attention to the lack of security on our borders, most particularly, our Southern border. If he was concerned about our security as a whole, perhaps we wouldn’t have said murderous pedophile worshipers sneaking in along with the ordinary criminals who have been sneaking across our borders for decades, sucking the life out of our communities.
Obama, on the other hand, doesn’t give a damn about this country at all. He just doesn’t give a flip, and works quite hard, when he’s not on vacation or the golf course, at making sure we are destroyed, one trillion at a time, sucking up to our enemies, and stabbing our most staunch allies in the back. Was this really the ‘hope and change’ the clueless voted into office?
That is why I have been considering running for President. The Republican Party must nominate a leader who, unlike Obama, understands instinctively that America’s liberty, prosperity and national security are inextricably linked.
President, eh? Well, to be honest, I just don’t know about a Bolton presidency, but I do know….he is right! The Republican Party is sorely lacking in strong leadership. I see a lot of wishy washies in D.C., making compromises that do more damage than good, for political expediency, all the while, we’re out here suffering from the swift demise of our country. Those who actually have a strong backbone and steel cajones are vilified, from both sides, and blamed for things they had no hand in. I keep wondering what it is about the Constitution that scares the hell out of those people. Then, I figured it out! The Constitutional, if followed, would take away their unlimited power, and there are some who just couldn’t stand that idea. Power corrupts! Absolute power corrupts absolutely! And we have been seeing evidence of this for quite a while, but most especially in the last 5 years.
We now face a minimum of $700 to 800 billion more in defense cuts, in addition to the $400 billion Obama has already imposed, with potentially catastrophic consequences. The joint committee established to fashion the second tranche of spending cuts (or tax increases) is not likely to protect us from massive defense cuts. The liberals will be working feverishly to put conservatives on the committee in an untenable position: a Hobson’s choice between tax increases and deep cuts in defense spending.
Anyone with an iota of common sense knows….YOU DO NOT CUT DEFENSE SPENDING IN A TIME OF WAR! And like it or not, we are at war!!! It actually started before we were attacked on 9/11, but the foolish in power treated such attacks as criminal matters, so most folks didn’t really understand the depth of the problem. 9/11 SHOULD have been a major wake up call, and for a short time, it was. Sadly, who wins American Idol is more important to the voting clueless than the security of their own children. The enemy knows this, and is taking full advantage of it, with the aid of our own POTUS, and his administration.
President Obama, unlike all his predecessors since Franklin Roosevelt, does not treat national security as his top priority. He does not see the world as threatening to U.S. interests. And he is comfortable with America’s “inevitable” decline in the world, rather than being determined to prevent it. Obama is our first post-American President. He fancies himself to be above mere “patriotism.” He is less an advocate for American interests than a “citizen of the world,” in his own phrase.
Fine. You want to be a “citizen of the world”, go for it. Just do it on your own dime, and from a different location than that White House that belongs to the citizens of the United States of America! Go play golf with Chavez, the Castros, and the leaders of every Islamofascist bunch, but do it as a private citizen ‘of the world’, and leave the heavy lifting to men and women with REAL leadership qualities. The idea that there are still 21% of ‘likely voters’ who “strongly approve” of the job Obama is doing, is in serious need of a real world education. I can only think they come from a demographic that gets a monthly check, etc., from the taxpayers of this country. Some probably even think it comes from Obama’s own pocket. Frightening that we still have so many ignorant people in a country that was once the envy of the world. And way too many of the oblivious are sitting in Congress.
In 16 months, Americans will again go to the polls and vote for the person they believe can best lead our country. Beyond question, Obama’s economic policies have failed to renew the economy and are now a principal reason the recovery is stalled. His national security policies are even more dangerous. The American dream is under assault, and Obama is not fighting back. We need a real President in the Oval Office, someone who knows instinctively and by experience that, as Adam Smith said, “the first duty of the sovereign” is to protect and promote American sovereignty and national security. Otherwise, economic prosperity will count for little.
Obama should never have been elected. Once he started his road of destruction, he should have been removed from office. I can blame the education system, but that’s not the only pitfall the brought us the very WORST president in our history. (Sorry Jimmah, you no longer have that “honor”.) The media, for all intents and purposes, is now the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party, rather like a many armed Joseph Goebbels. They no longer report the news. There is no who, what, when, where is journalism. Now, it’s an agenda, and those in the media these days will freely admit, they are on the side of the liberal>progressive>socialists>communists. The majority are registered Democrats. Synonymous, IMHO.
To date, in my view, no Republican candidate has persuasively argued that our economic recovery and long-term prosperity are completely intertwined with a strong national security posture. If no one else is prepared to make that case, I will.
In case there was any question, I am both a fiscal and a social conservative. But unless we have a secure nation, the social issues will mean nothing. At this point in time, there are a few candidates I like, but honestly, none I am gung ho about, at least not yet. With the field we have at present, I see too many divisions. Who is putting Romney in the lead? No one I know. In all honestly, the only one I see as being strong in all areas, is Michelle Bachmann. However, since the media is giving her the Palin treatment, I find it difficult to believe that she could beat the Pretender in Chief. The left hates strong women, and will vilify her at every turn. I like Hermann Cain too. He’s not a politician, and he knows how to run a business, so he has to be fiscally savvy. The others, well, I just don’t see a great deal of strong leadership in the rest of the field. I want to see big brass ones, telling it like it is, and not playing footsie with those who demonize those who disagree with their liberal/socialist views. I’m short, but I’m not a Hobit. I’m angry, but I’m not a terrorist. And none of my fellow Tea Partiers would strap a bomb on their chest, or their children’s, or hold a gun to anyone’s head, unless it was in self defense.
Would I support a Bolton candidacy? It’s possible. At this point, to get Barack Hussein Obama out of the White House, I’d support almost anyone with integrity. I don’t like the idea of the lesser of two evils, but then, most politicians aren’t exactly choir boys, are they. Give me someone I can actually have some faith in to do what is right for the nation, and not what they want for their political careers.
How Do We Survive Without Our Electronic Toys?
The Devastating Threat to Our Security
The Foundry
It sounds like something out of a movie. A nuclear weapon detonates at high altitude, generating a burst of electromagnetic energy that devastates the United States–destroying electronics, collapsing communications, halting transportation, and shutting down all electrical power. Unfortunately, the threat of an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) strike is all too real, and it’s time America’s leaders wake up to the reality.
But a nuclear weapon isn’t the only way an EMP can be generated. Even unusually powerful solar activity could produce catastrophic destruction in the United States. No matter how it’s generated, the chaotic effects are the same. First, the electromagnetic shock can disrupt electrical devices. The second effect is similar to lightning—a power surge that would burn circuits and immobilize electronic components and systems. The third is a pulse effect that flows through electricity transmission lines, damaging distribution centers and fusing power lines. Any of these can cause irreversible damage to an electronic system. And the United States would effectively be sent back to the 19th century, to a world without cars, cell phones, computers, or any other electronics.
