President Bolton?

11 August 2011, 11:15 am. 7 Comments. Filed under 2012, Opinion, Republican.

While the inability to get a decent night’s sleep is a serious drawback for my sanity and well being, there is also a plus.  I can snoop through the internet on my phone, and email things I find of interest to myself.  Yeah….sounds really exciting, doesn’t it.  Normally, I just try to read myself back to sleep, after taking a pain killer of course, but sometimes, ya gotta have a bit of a variety, right?

So, last night, while doing my wee hours of the morning snooping, I came across a column written by John Bolton on Human Events from the 8th.  I like Bolton, so I read through it, emailed it to myself, and read it again this morning.  I like him even more.  The man is plain spoken, and has a tendency not to play political suck up.

Adam Smith wrote in The Wealth of Nations that “the first duty of the sovereign, that of protecting the society from the violence and invasion of other independent societies, can be performed only by means of a military force.” Today, failing to protect our national security inevitably endangers our economic prosperity by making us vulnerable to global adversaries.

It is clear that President Obama does not agree with Smith’s wisdom. Obama’s policies are jeopardizing not only our national security and economy, but our constitutional sovereignty too.

While George W. Bush was concerned about our security from the Islamonazis, he paid scant attention to the lack of security on our borders, most particularly, our Southern border. If he was concerned about our security as a whole, perhaps we wouldn’t have said murderous pedophile worshipers sneaking in along with the ordinary criminals who have been sneaking across our borders for decades, sucking the life out of our communities.

Obama, on the other hand, doesn’t give a damn about this country at all. He just doesn’t give a flip, and works quite hard, when he’s not on vacation or the golf course, at making sure we are destroyed, one trillion at a time, sucking up to our enemies, and stabbing our most staunch allies in the back. Was this really the ‘hope and change’ the clueless voted into office?

That is why I have been considering running for President. The Republican Party must nominate a leader who, unlike Obama, understands instinctively that America’s liberty, prosperity and national security are inextricably linked.

President, eh? Well, to be honest, I just don’t know about a Bolton presidency, but I do know….he is right! The Republican Party is sorely lacking in strong leadership. I see a lot of wishy washies in D.C., making compromises that do more damage than good, for political expediency, all the while, we’re out here suffering from the swift demise of our country. Those who actually have a strong backbone and steel cajones are vilified, from both sides, and blamed for things they had no hand in. I keep wondering what it is about the Constitution that scares the hell out of those people. Then, I figured it out! The Constitutional, if followed, would take away their unlimited power, and there are some who just couldn’t stand that idea. Power corrupts! Absolute power corrupts absolutely! And we have been seeing evidence of this for quite a while, but most especially in the last 5 years.

We now face a minimum of $700 to 800 billion more in defense cuts, in addition to the $400 billion Obama has already imposed, with potentially catastrophic consequences. The joint committee established to fashion the second tranche of spending cuts (or tax increases) is not likely to protect us from massive defense cuts. The liberals will be working feverishly to put conservatives on the committee in an untenable position: a Hobson’s choice between tax increases and deep cuts in defense spending.

Anyone with an iota of common sense knows….YOU DO NOT CUT DEFENSE SPENDING IN A TIME OF WAR! And like it or not, we are at war!!! It actually started before we were attacked on 9/11, but the foolish in power treated such attacks as criminal matters, so most folks didn’t really understand the depth of the problem. 9/11 SHOULD have been a major wake up call, and for a short time, it was. Sadly, who wins American Idol is more important to the voting clueless than the security of their own children. The enemy knows this, and is taking full advantage of it, with the aid of our own POTUS, and his administration.

President Obama, unlike all his predecessors since Franklin Roosevelt, does not treat national security as his top priority. He does not see the world as threatening to U.S. interests. And he is comfortable with America’s “inevitable” decline in the world, rather than being determined to prevent it. Obama is our first post-American President. He fancies himself to be above mere “patriotism.” He is less an advocate for American interests than a “citizen of the world,” in his own phrase.

Fine. You want to be a “citizen of the world”, go for it. Just do it on your own dime, and from a different location than that White House that belongs to the citizens of the United States of America! Go play golf with Chavez, the Castros, and the leaders of every Islamofascist bunch, but do it as a private citizen ‘of the world’, and leave the heavy lifting to men and women with REAL leadership qualities. The idea that there are still 21% of ‘likely voters’ who “strongly approve” of the job Obama is doing, is in serious need of a real world education. I can only think they come from a demographic that gets a monthly check, etc., from the taxpayers of this country. Some probably even think it comes from Obama’s own pocket. Frightening that we still have so many ignorant people in a country that was once the envy of the world.  And way too many of the oblivious are sitting in Congress.

In 16 months, Americans will again go to the polls and vote for the person they believe can best lead our country. Beyond question, Obama’s economic policies have failed to renew the economy and are now a principal reason the recovery is stalled. His national security policies are even more dangerous. The American dream is under assault, and Obama is not fighting back. We need a real President in the Oval Office, someone who knows instinctively and by experience that, as Adam Smith said, “the first duty of the sovereign” is to protect and promote American sovereignty and national security. Otherwise, economic prosperity will count for little.

Obama should never have been elected. Once he started his road of destruction, he should have been removed from office. I can blame the education system, but that’s not the only pitfall the brought us the very WORST president in our history. (Sorry Jimmah, you no longer have that “honor”.) The media, for all intents and purposes, is now the propaganda arm of the Democrat Party, rather like a many armed Joseph Goebbels. They no longer report the news. There is no who, what, when, where is journalism. Now, it’s an agenda, and those in the media these days will freely admit, they are on the side of the liberal>progressive>socialists>communists. The majority are registered Democrats. Synonymous, IMHO.

To date, in my view, no Republican candidate has persuasively argued that our economic recovery and long-term prosperity are completely intertwined with a strong national security posture. If no one else is prepared to make that case, I will.

In case there was any question, I am both a fiscal and a social conservative. But unless we have a secure nation, the social issues will mean nothing. At this point in time, there are a few candidates I like, but honestly, none I am gung ho about, at least not yet. With the field we have at present, I see too many divisions. Who is putting Romney in the lead? No one I know. In all honestly, the only one I see as being strong in all areas, is Michelle Bachmann. However, since the media is giving her the Palin treatment, I find it difficult to believe that she could beat the Pretender in Chief. The left hates strong women, and will vilify her at every turn. I like Hermann Cain too. He’s not a politician, and he knows how to run a business, so he has to be fiscally savvy. The others, well, I just don’t see a great deal of strong leadership in the rest of the field. I want to see big brass ones, telling it like it is, and not playing footsie with those who demonize those who disagree with their liberal/socialist views. I’m short, but I’m not a Hobit. I’m angry, but I’m not a terrorist. And none of my fellow Tea Partiers would strap a bomb on their chest, or their children’s, or hold a gun to anyone’s head, unless it was in self defense.

Would I support a Bolton candidacy? It’s possible. At this point, to get Barack Hussein Obama out of the White House, I’d support almost anyone with integrity. I don’t like the idea of the lesser of two evils, but then, most politicians aren’t exactly choir boys, are they. Give me someone I can actually have some faith in to do what is right for the nation, and not what they want for their political careers.

How Do We Survive Without Our Electronic Toys?

The Devastating Threat to Our Security
The Foundry

It sounds like something out of a movie. A nuclear weapon detonates at high altitude, generating a burst of electromagnetic energy that devastates the United States–destroying electronics, collapsing communications, halting transportation, and shutting down all electrical power. Unfortunately, the threat of an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) strike is all too real, and it’s time America’s leaders wake up to the reality.

But a nuclear weapon isn’t the only way an EMP can be generated. Even unusually powerful solar activity could produce catastrophic destruction in the United States. No matter how it’s generated, the chaotic effects are the same. First, the electromagnetic shock can disrupt electrical devices. The second effect is similar to lightning—a power surge that would burn circuits and immobilize electronic components and systems. The third is a pulse effect that flows through electricity transmission lines, damaging distribution centers and fusing power lines. Any of these can cause irreversible damage to an electronic system. And the United States would effectively be sent back to the 19th century, to a world without cars, cell phones, computers, or any other electronics.

Sell Them!

10 August 2011, 9:21 pm. Comments Off. Filed under 2nd Amendment, Opinion, Politics, Tennessee.

Should cops sell guns?

It’s now illegal for police in Tennessee to destroy guns they seize, thanks to legislation that became law last year. Some states, such as Kentucky, have been auctioning such firearms for years, bringing in an estimated half-million dollars a year. But instead, most police departments in the Nashville area hoard the guns, unwilling to sell them to the public, to the dismay of some legislators.

“Guns don’t pull their own trigger,” said state Sen. Stacey Campfield, R-Knoxville, who sponsored a stalled bill in the last legislative session to force authorities to sell seized weapons to the public. “There’s nothing wrong with them, they’re functional. This would just put it in law-abiding people’s hands.”

Rep Campfield states the obvious. But you wouldn’t know that if you listened to the anti gun rights people.  Why shouldn’t the police make money to support their efforts by selling confiscated weapons to law abiding citizens?

Though his bill failed, Campfield said it “most definitely” will be pushed during the next session.

That prospect worries Jacci McGee-Russell. Her son, Marcus, 19, was shot and killed in 2008 during a robbery at a gas station where he worked.

“You’re putting back on the street guns that may have killed somebody,” she said. “Whether the crime has been solved or not, I think they should be destroyed. There are too many guns available to potential criminals.”

I’m really sorry she lost her son to gun violence, but it wasn’t a law abiding citizen that killed him. And the gun didn’t pull it’s own trigger. No, that was a bad person, with no respect for life or law, and no matter what, such animals will find a way to get a weapon to commit their crime. Criminals don’t give a damn about the law. You can pass all the 2nd Amendment violating laws you want, and that will NOT stop the evil. Law abiding citizens, who own firearms, don’t go around robbing convenience stores and shooting innocent clerks.

“We don’t want more weapons on the street. We don’t want to be the ones providing them,” said Williamson County sheriff’s spokesman Hugh Tharpe, whose agency has been warehousing firearms since it cannot destroy them. “If we could either destroy them or turn them in to state or federal governments so they could give us money for them, that’s what we’d like to see.”

Excuse me Sheriff, but where do you think the money would come from if either the state or the federal government paid you for them? Must be a flippin’ Democrat!

Kevin Cecil, a gun owner from Arrington, said a gun’s history is irrelevant.

“A gun is an inanimate object, incapable of action in and of itself. A ‘crime gun’ sold to a buyer that undergoes a standard background check poses no more risk of being used in a crime than any other gun,” he said. “The police sell the cars seized in drug raids, and cars are used more often in crimes than guns are.”

So, why not sell the guns too? The revenue could be quite impressive. And he’s right, the history doesn’t matter. It was the criminal who perpetrated the crime, not the gun.

Sell them!

The Sun Never Sets On The British Welfare System
by Ann Coulter

Those of you following the barbaric rioting in Britain will not have failed to notice that a sizable proportion of the thugs are white, something not often seen in this country.

Not only that, but in a triumph of feminism, a lot of them are girls. Even the “disabled” (according to the British benefits system) seem to have miraculously overcome their infirmities to dash out and steal a few TVs.

Congratulations, Britain! You’ve barbarized your citizenry, without regard to race, gender or physical handicap!

With a welfare system far more advanced than the United States, the British have achieved the remarkable result of turning entire communities of ancestral British people into tattooed, drunken brutes.

Right Wins Over The Really Wrong

Wisconsin Holds the Line
The Foundry

The liberal political machine was in full throttle. Millions of dollars in campaign ads streamed on TV. An army of union workers descended on the state in a massive grassroots voter mobilization effort. But when the dust settled, the smoke cleared, and the votes were counted, the conservative majority that swept into Wisconsin last November remained intact last night despite an unprecedented recall effort designed to bring an end to Governor Scott Walker’s reforms.

Yesterday in Wisconsin, Democrats tried to recall six GOP senators in an attempt to gain a foothold in the state’s legislature—they lost in four of the races, failing to regain a majority in the state senate. Those losses came despite a $14 million effort waged by unions and liberal groups from across the country, including the AFL-CIO, UAW, AFSCME, MoveOn.org, Teamsters, UFCW, NEA, SEIU, and People for the American Way.

In Simple Terms

8 August 2011, 7:36 pm. 3 Comments. Filed under Economy.

The U.S. Congress sets a federal budget every year in the trillions of dollars. Few people know how much money that is so we created a breakdown of federal spending in simple terms. Let’s put the 2011 federal budget into perspective:

U.S. income: $2,170,000,000,000

It helps to think about these numbers in terms that we can relate to. Therefore, let’s remove eight zeros from these numbers and pretend this is the household budget for the fictitious Jones family.

Whose Fault Is It?

8 August 2011, 4:52 pm. 4 Comments. Filed under Opinion.

Well, if you listen to the left, it’s mine. Why? Because I am part of the Tea Party, and I’m one of those who did what I could to get men and women who stand for the Constitution of the United States get elected to Congress. Really? Yup. And if you are a Tea Partier, it’s your fault too. Naturally, Congress and the White House couldn’t be expected to take responsibility for THEIR actions.

There were no Tea Party members of Congress before last years election, so how can the Tea Party be blamed for a downward spiral that began in 2006? 2006….that’s the year that the Democrats took over control of Congress, which means the DEMOCRATS took over the purse strings. And gracious sakes…what a time they’ve had. Spending….spending….spending….. What fun! Well, shoot, why not? It’s not coming out of THEIR POCKETS! Oh, don’t get me wrong, it’s not just the Democrats that have been bitten by the SHOPPING bug. The elite Republicans have done their fair share. Not to the same degree, but still, they are just as guilty. As a matter of fact, if there had been any Republicans with a serious backbone, and a fondness for the Constitution, and the United States, they could have put a stop to a great deal of what was going on.

Then, along came the man/child. What were you people thinking? From the time that kid took the oath of office, this country has changed into something I can’t even recognize. The American people are the last thing on his list of priorities. People have given up looking for jobs. Why? How many regulations has he imposed on the companies that actually create jobs? Somewhere around 600 the last I heard. Why? I can think of one reason. He hates America. He WANTS to see it destroyed.

Man/child is also a BIG UNION fan. Why? They tend to stifle businesses. It makes no sense! But then, nothing this little boy has done has made a bit of sense to liberty loving Americans. I can only assume that those who still support him, and his party, really don’t like this country. If this is true, I’m sure there are a few countries who would welcome them with open arms. TRUE Americans don’t.

Congress and the POTUS refuse to change their ways. Don’t you think it’s time to wipe the slate clean, and start over, as it was established? We have a document, only four pages long, that pretty much covers everything. It shouldn’t be that complicated. Although, there are some who have a death grip on their power, kind of like King George did back when, and you how THAT turned out.

Personal opinion, I think it’s past time for those in Washington, D.C. to take responsibility. It wasn’t WE, The People who caused this mess,we sent you to Washington to do a job, not spend us into oblivion! It was you. Your addiction to special interests, to pet projects, to failed programs, none of which are Constitutional. It wasn’t the tsunami in Japan. It has nothing to do with the socialist policies of the European Union. It wasn’t the fault of anyone, or anything else. It was YOU! Fix it, or get the hell out and let people who know how to balance a checkbook take over.

Stop blaming the Tea Party! Y’all sound like petulant children who got caught with your hand in the cookie jar, blaming the dog for eating your homework.

GROW THE **** UP!

I wonder if they’d rather lose jobs, than lose a few bucks?

The evil in the world continues to grow.

Isn’t it amazing that while that while the pallies are always lobbing rockets into Israeli neighborhoods, it’s always the Israelis the “world” are so quick to condemn.

Perhaps Barney, Maxine and the rest of their cronies would like to rethink their comments, and take responsibility for their do nothing attitude?  It might have been prevented.  Past time for the government to get out of the business world, and return to what they were actually created to do.

They also need to get out of the education of our kids too.

The only thing the Dems want in Wisconsin is to further destroy the state’s economy, and allow the unions, who elect them to run roughshod over the the taxpayers.  I’d call that pretty regressive….to the old Soviet days.  Residents of the state had to put up with their feckless and reckless spending during the Doyle years.  I don’t remember conservatives behaving like spoiled children.

Perhaps it was a trial run?

The military is SUPPOSE to be funded by our tax dollars.  The rest of the crap they keep throwing money at is NOT.

Has Kilpatrick’s book even made enough money to pay back the state?  Can’t imagine why anyone would want to read it, but then, there are some strange people in this world.

Teachers should be evaluated frequently.   All of them, country wide!  I’m finding out just how little my granddaughter knows, thanks to her public education.  Quite sad.

It wouldn’t surprise me a bit!

It’s the Spending
The Foundry

On Friday evening, Standard & Poor’s (S&P) downgraded the U.S. credit rating from AAA to AA+. As we and other conservatives warned, the spending reductions in the deal negotiated by President Obama to raise the debt ceiling were inadequate, and S&P reacted as we predicted but sooner. Neither Moody’s nor Fitch, two other rating agencies, have downgraded federal debt yet, but they are not providing much rosier outlooks.

Decades of over-spending and over-borrowing by the federal government have damaged America’s creditworthiness. Congress after Congress, President after President, the federal government spent every penny it took in—and borrowed over $14 trillion on top of that—to try to keep happy the voters to whom the government made promises it could not afford. The government kept shifting the burden of paying the bills forward onto future generations.

3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.

A Wisconsin Chuckle

6 August 2011, 6:20 pm. 1 Comment. Filed under Chuckles.

The year is 2016 and the United States has just elected the first woman president, who happens to be from Wisconsin. A few days after the election the president-elect, whose name is Susan, calls her Father and says, ‘So, Dad, I assume you will be coming to my inauguration?’

‘I don’t think so. It’s an 18 hour drive.”

‘Don’t worry about it Dad, I’ll send Air Force One. And a limousine will pick you up at your door.’

‘I don’t know. Everybody will be so fancy. What would your mother wear?’

“Oh Dad,” replies Susan, ‘I’ll make sure she has a wonderful gown ustom-made by the best designer in Washington ..’

‘Honey,’ Dad complains, ‘you know I can’t eat those rich foods you eat. Do they serve tap beer????’

The President-to-be responds, ‘Don’t worry Dad. The entire affair will be handled by the best caterer in Washington, I’ll ensure your meals are salt free. You and mom just have to be there.’

So Dad reluctantly agrees and on January 20, 2017, Susan is being sworn in as President of the United States. In the front row sits the new president’s Dad and Mom. Dad noticing the senator sitting next to him leans over and whispers, ‘You see that woman over there with her hand on the Bible, becoming President of the United States.’

The Senator whispers back, ‘You bet I do.’

Dad says proudly, “Her brother played football for the Green Bay Packers.”
