An Ol' Broad's Ramblings

Senior Al Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki and another America-born militant were killed in Yemen early Friday morning by a CIA-led U.S. drone strike, marking the highest-profile takedown of terror leaders since the raid on Usama bin Laden’s compound.
Fox News has learned that two Predator drones hovering above al-Awlaki’s convoy fired the Hellfire missiles which killed the terror leader. According to a senior U.S. official, the operation was carried out by Joint Special Operations Command, under the direction of the CIA.
Al-Awlaki was a U.S.-born Islamic militant cleric who became a prominent figure with Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, the network’s most active branch. He was involved in several terror plots in the United States in recent years, using his fluent English and Internet savvy to draw recruits to carry out attacks. President Obama signed an order in early 2010 making him the first American to be placed on the “kill or capture” list.
The Yemeni government and Defense Ministry announced al-Awlaki’s death, without giving details. But American sources confirmed the CIA and U.S. military were behind the strike on al-Awlaki, whom one official described as a “big fish.”
Shucks! I’m just all torn up about this. Can’cha tell?
But, unfortunately, there are a whole lot more al-Awlakis out there. A lot of ‘em are sitting all nice and comfy in their nice American homes, creeping into our lives, little by little, undermining our Constitution, to bring about their caliphate. All the while, we sit here with our thumbs up our hinders, allowing it to happen. Our elected officials are too busy sucking up to the very ones who would see us all dead, or converted. “Mustn’t offend!” HORSE MANURE! I’M offended! I’m offended that our government can’t do it’s job of protecting our borders. I’m offended that there are people who think it’s just peachy for them to built a victory mosque just feet from where they murdered our citizens. I’m offended that those of us who oppose this take over are called racist, bigot, islmamphobic. I’m offended that any America would think it’s just fine to allow such murderous pedophile worshiping thugs into our country, and then tell us WE have to submit to THEIR wishes, while our Christian children aren’t allowed to even say God Bless you when someone sneezes, or that a teacher can’t put the national motto, “In God We Trust”, up in their classroom, yet many schools are providing prayer rooms for their cultist students.
Have we totally lost our minds?
And we, the taxpayers, are the punching bag!
The Solyndra Legacies
The Obama Administration has been knee-deep in scandal after green energy “model” Solyndra went bankrupt less than two years after receiving a $500 million loan guarantee from the federal government. Now, they are up against another controversy.
Days before a recent deadline, the Department of Energy brazenly approved two additional loans for more than $1 billion for solar energy projects in the Obama Administration’s green jobs program. The latest ill-fated ventures include a $737 million loan guarantee to Solar Reserve for a 110-megawatt solar tower on federal land in Nevada and a $337 million guarantee for Mesquite Solar 1 to develop a 150-megawatt solar plant in Arizona.
Loan guarantees like these are destined to fail, because they are either granted to companies that could not remain viable without them or because the loan was supported by political connections; or both. This round of loans includes the latter—just as it appears Solyndra was aided.
Tea party gets bad rap for telling truth
by Nolan Finley
Democrats have effectively turned “tea party” into a pejorative, making the words conjure a rigid, uncompromising movement that is at the root of Washington’s dysfunction.
You won’t hear a Democratic mouth open today without a slur against the tea party spilling out.
What are these Republican revolutionaries doing that Dems find so divisive and dangerous?
Best I can tell, their major offense is holding Washington accountable. Listen to them, as I did on Mackinac Island last week during the Republican Leadership Conference, and the only demand you hear is that politicians stop mortgaging America’s future to reckless spending and swelling deficits.
All they want is for politicians to finally do what both Democrats and Republicans always said they’d do — make the government live within its means — but never got around to doing until the tea party forced their hand.
In other words, the tea party is the adult in a roomful of overindulged children who resent the call to accountability. How much greater would the debt be today, how much larger the deficit, if the tea party hadn’t shouted, “Enough!”

You would think it would be real simple for any thinking person to figure out. However, apparently, Democrats and the left (but I repeat myself) are incapable of thinking rationally. They can only “feel”. And it seems they “feel” threatened by the U.S. Constitution, and being held accountable, like grownups, for their reckless actions.
They can call us names all they want, but it won’t change the facts.
Obamacare’s Soaring Price Tag
On January 21, 2009, (actually it was Jan 20-olbroad) Barack Obama stood on the steps of the U.S. Capitol and, in his inaugural address, pledged to America that he would “wield technology’s wonders to raise health care’s quality and lower its cost.” What he did wield, of course, was a 2,000-page bill known as Obamacare. More than a year on, we now know that health care costs are soaring, and the President’s signature legislation is to blame.
Most Americans know that medicine is getting more expensive, but a new survey puts a shocking sticker price on the rapid increase. The Kaiser Family Foundation and the Health Research and Educational Trust report that between 2010 and 2011, family premiums increased by 9 percent and for individual premiums by 8 percent. According to the survey, “The average premium for single coverage in 2011 is $452 per month or $5,429 per year … The average premium for family coverage is $1,256 per month or $15,073 per year.”
Morgan Freeman reads from the wrong script
by Ted Nugent
The ugliest form of racism is accusing others of racism when there is none. Throwing around the terms “racist” and “racism” has been a tactic of the left for decades. Surely we can all agree that Martin Luther King Jr. would not endorse such an ugly tactic, as he wanted us to judge each other on the content of our character rather than our skin color.
While falsely accusing others of racism for years, the left has ratcheted up its vitriolic and false claims now that President Obama is in office.
The actor Morgan Freeman, who obviously leans way to the left, is the most recent, egregious example of someone willing to claim racism where there is none.

It is really sad that such people as Morgan Freeman, while an excellent actor, is so ignorant of the real world. I guess those who live in a fantasy land for a living have a very difficult time dealing with the real world.
At some point today, both Ramblings and silent E vanished from the internet! Why? Well, a really dumb reason, but I tell ya, I thought Obama had already started his dirty work of eliminating the opposition! Why he’d start with us, I have no idea, but still…. But, as you can see, I am back, and so is E. All is well. At least for now.
Does Rick Perry Have a Performance Problem
by Ann Coulter
Liberals, whose entire political strategy is the smoke and mirrors of showbiz, have concluded that Rick Perry? put in a poor performance at last week’s Republican debate and has got to step up his debating technique to get back in the game.
Actually, it wasn’t Perry’s “performance” that was a problem. It was his “answers.”
No fancy wordsmithery is going to get Perry out of supporting in-state tuition for illegal aliens. (Although I did think it was nice that he gave his answer in Spanish.)
We are not Democrats.
We already had a Republican president and both political parties try to foist amnesty on us. The country erupted in rage, forced Congress to withdraw Bush’s “comprehensive immigration reform” and rewarded Bush with a humiliating defeat in the 2006 midterm elections.
Happiness, and many sweet memories!
Why are you sending me notices of such and such is now following you, when such and such is not? Why are you choosing for me? I don’t much care for that. It’s rather embarrassing to get a DM stating ‘how funny…i was just getting ready to follow you” after ‘following someone back, who evidently, was NOT actually following me in the first place.
Have you become like the federal government, and are deciding who I will, or will not follow? Do you now think you know what is best for me? Are you also “unfollowing” for me too?
I’d really appreciate it if you would stop doing that.
Time for Action on Pakistan
The Obama Administration is quickly trying to contain the damage in another potential foreign policy debacle, this time with nuclear-armed Pakistan. Last week, Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff, dropped a bombshell that rocked U.S.-Pakistani relations.
In testimony before Congress, Mullen declared that the military intelligence service of this supposed U.S. partner is directing the Haqqani network, a militant group responsible for attacks on Americans, including the 20-hour assault on the U.S. embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan, that left 27 dead.
The revelation causes immediate concern for the United States, and The Heritage Foundation believes it must result in punitive policy toward Pakistan if Islamabad continues its pattern of defiance. Yet Administration officials, quoted anonymously in a front-page Washington Post story this morning, hit out at the messenger, Admiral Mullen. One told the paper that Admiral Mullen “overstates the case.” This Pentagon official admitted that, yes, the Pakistanis have been “guiding Haqqani and using them for their purposes,” but somehow this does not involve killing Americans.
One popular greeting card maker is taking a cue from the unemployment rate.
Hallmark is now offering condolence cards made especially for someone who just lost their job.
Hallmark’s creative director told National Public Radio the cards had actually been requested by customers who say they had a hard time connecting with recently unemployed loved ones.
One slogan reads “don’t think of it as losing your job, think of it as time between stupid bosses.”
While I find this idea rather ingenious, I also find it extremely disturbing that such a thing is even needed. Thank you MR Obama for destroying the lives of millions of Americans.
Since the lame stream won’t do their job, I just thought I’d help Glenn out and spread the word. That supposed ‘day of rage’ is a farce!
I have not fallen off the planet. Just been otherwise engaged for the last couple of days. Should be back to normal shortly. Well, normal for me.
