An Ol' Broad's Ramblings

Yep, I Watched It

Why?  Well, I’m not really sure.  The only thing I thought was a positive was the fact they all seems a lot more comfortable sitting around the table.  As for the panel asking the questions?  What a bunch of doofus’.  That was Charlie Rose?  Dang!  He got OLD!  Who decided he would make a good moderator?  And that older woman…..was that a clone of Helen Thomas? What a rude bunch.  Why ask a question if you aren’t going to allow the person to finish the answer, and keep interrupting. Not very professional, IMHO.

Ok, so what did I take away from this debate?  Not a whole lot, actually.  Newt Gingrich is an extremely smart dude, but I had figured that out before. If I could just get past that couch scenario.

Michelle Bachmann looked washed out. She shouldn’t wear either red or white. They just aren’t her colors. Her answers? Well, did you know she raised 28 some odd kids? And is a tax lawyer? sigh…

Rick Santorum gave some good answers, when they allowed him to answer. :?

The focus on Mitt Romney is really starting to irritate me. Just because THEY consider him the front runner doesn’t mean he actually is! If he’s the front runner, why hasn’t he won any straw polls? HUH HUH HUH???

Rick Perry did a bit better this time around, but he didn’t strike any bells with me. Not sure why.

Huntsman? Well, he did deliver a good line about so much gas in D.C. Other than that, he still doesn’t impress me.

Herman Cain was definitely pushing his 9-9-9 plan. It occurred to me that this plan doesn’t take into consideration any local taxes. Would that 9% sales tax be on top of any local sales tax? Here in our area, we already pay 9.25% in sales tax. That would make everything we buy cost 9% more. I have a problem with that. :? Other than that, I REALLY like Cain. If he can clear that up for me…..

And then there’s Ron Paul. sigh… It’s a shame the man is so dadburn flaky. Has anyone found out if he’s suffering from early onset of Alzheimers?

Well, right now, I’m leaning towards Gingrich and Cain. I have not made up my mind, so I’m not endorsing anyone. I’m keeping an open mind.

Thanks to Shoebox over at No Runny Eggs for making watching the debate so entertaining.  :D

One piece of good news I got today….my battery is good for another 3 years and 10 months.  Heh.

Herman Cain / Michelle Bachmann would be a strong Conservative ticket.

I’m having a tough time getting excited about any of ‘em.  :?   All have good points, and all have faults.  If we could put ‘em in a blender…..  LOL

Newt’s plan on czars is right on too…

    Nuts…  I guess I missed that part.

My problem with Cain’s 9-9-9 plan is that you have to pay a federal tax on everything you earn, and then pay another federal tax when you buy something with money that’s already been taxed. I don’t like double taxation. Either tax what I earn, or tax what I spend, but not both, and preferably not either, though that’s a bit of wishful thinking.

  6. olbroad. 13 October 2011, 11:27 am

They already do double tax ya.  It’s just the city, county and state that’s doing it.  :?

  7. Matt. 13 October 2011, 11:39 am

No, that missed what I was saying. Each level of government needs funding, so each has to have income. My problem is when the same level charges two taxes.
For example, where we live, there is federal income tax, but not state or local. There is state and local sales tax, but not federal.

LOL  No, I know what you mean.  If they can suck blood out of a turnip, aka tax us, they are going to, one way or another, on every level.  Honestly, I don’t think we should send so much to DC.  The majority should be kept in the state.  I’m none too fond of the idea of a national sales tax.  Either one or the other, not both!  But I still like Cain.  :)

Now we agree! (Thought we did anyway.)

  10. olbroad. 13 October 2011, 5:33 pm

Heh.  We tend to agree more than disagree, if ya hadn’t noticed.  :D   Well, I do want to learn more about his plan.  Hey…are you by any chance going to Jackson tomorrow to see him?  I think we are.

  11. Matt. 13 October 2011, 5:38 pm

When and where? I’ll be working till about 7 at the gas station, but would love to manage if I could

  12. olbroad. 13 October 2011, 5:45 pm

Bob’s House of Honda….what a strange name for a car dealership.  If I’m not mistaken, it’s next to the theater?  Well, it’s on Vann at any rate.  From 2-4.  Will they let ya off for an hour or so?

  13. Matt. 13 October 2011, 6:05 pm

Sadly no. I’ll be the only one at the station that time of day. Durn.
If you get the chance to ask him about the double tax, would you for me?

  14. olbroad. 13 October 2011, 6:16 pm

Well poop!  :(   Yeah, I would like to ask him about that.  Even the panel on Fox was asking how that would work.  Seems there are some economist in favor of his plan, and there are a few that are asking the same questions we are.  LOL
