NPR’s new chief vows to focus on news and ‘depoliticize’ network

The man who helped bring Sesame Street to a global audience for the past 11 years will take over as president and CEO of NPR, the public radio network announced Sunday.

Gary Knell, the longtime president and CEO of Sesame Workshop, will start at NPR on Dec. 1.

Knell succeeds Vivian Schiller, who resigned under pressure in March after a former NPR fundraiser was caught on camera calling the tea party racist. The episode led some conservatives to call for an end to federal funding for NPR, but Congress ultimately retained the money as part of a budget deal in April.

Schiller was also criticized for firing analyst Juan Williams over comments about Muslims.

Will Big Bird be doing the news on the half hour?  Schiller should have been canned a long time ago, but hey, that’s just my opinion.  Since they consistently have fundraisers, and it’s suppose to be listener funded, why are we, the taxpayers, funding them?  I don’t listen to NPR, therefore, I don’t send them money.  If it’s listener funded, by those who actually listen to them, and buy into their point of view, then they can send in their own money, and leave mine alone.  :?

Knell, 57, told the Associated Press on Sunday that he wanted to “depoliticize” NPR by highlighting its commitment to hard-hitting local, national and international journalism across multiple platforms. He said he does not believe that NPR is biased and wants to try to change the minds of those who perceive it as such.

“I think NPR needs to do a better job of telling a story,” Knell said. “It’s about journalism, it’s about news. It’s not about promoting one political agenda or another.”

Ok ok ok…..let me catch m’breath! *snicker*snort* Ahhhhhhh…. Whew!  Glad I got that out of my system.

Since this is NPR, I honestly can’t say whether or not this guy is serious.  But considering past experience, I find it highly unlikely that he’ll be successful.  The liberal mindset is ingrained in that bunch.

Panetta Warns Israel Is Getting More Isolated, Says Negotiations With Palestinians Must Restart

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta warned Sunday that Israel is becoming increasingly isolated in the Middle East, and said Israeli leaders must restart negotiations with the Palestinians and work to restore relations with Egypt and Turkey.

In a blunt assessment made as he was traveling to Israel, Panetta said the ongoing upheaval in the Middle East makes it critical for the Israelis to find ways to communicate with other nations in the region in order to have stability.

“There’s not much question in my mind that they maintain that (military) edge,” Panetta told reporters traveling with him. “But the question you have to ask: Is it enough to maintain a military edge if you’re isolating yourself in the diplomatic arena? Real security can only be achieved by both a strong diplomatic effort as well as a strong effort to project your military strength.”

Hmmm…  Let me think…  now what in the world could make Israel ‘increasingly isolated’?

Hey….I know!  Could it be the fact that Israel is the ONLY democracy in the region?  Could it also possibly be that all those other countries in that area just happen to be MUSLIM, and the muzzies have sworn to destroy Israel?  Ya know…it’s just possible that Israel would prefer to survive, than to kowtow to anymore demands from islamonazis.

The Israelis HAVE negotiated with the so called palestinians.  It has gained them nothing but death and destruction.  It is not possible to ‘negotiate’ with people who have sworn to destroy you.  There is no humanity there.  Their own murderous pedophile prophet demands that they kill all ‘non-believers’.  That would include all Jews, and all Christians.  And anyone else who doesn’t kneel to their false god.

I am quite ashamed of the government of the U.S.  The one TRUE ally we had in the region, and this administration is doing everything it can to alienate them.  Not a wise move!  Of course, they aren’t truly Christians, even though they claim to be.  If they were really Christians, they would know that turning their backs on Israel is an offense to God!

Ready for A Debit Card Tax?
The Foundry

Use a debit card? Now it’s really going to cost you. Bank of America announced last week that it will begin charging customers $5 per month for use of their debit cards. But if you’re looking for someone to blame, set your sights on Washington.

Bank of America is imposing the new fee in anticipation of a $2 billion annual loss brought about by the “Durbin Amendment” — a provision of last year’s Dodd-Frank Wall Street financial reform bill.

Signed into law in July 2010, the measure was intended to protect America from another financial meltdown, but in reality it placed a boatload of new burdens on financial institutions and their customers. The results? Increased risks to the financial system, increased regulations, and in this case, increased costs to anyone who uses a debit card.

3 Months Out

2 October 2011, 6:02 pm. 9 Comments. Filed under Just Cuz.

Ok, it’s been 3 months, and 3 days since my surgery.  I’ve done everything that is required to ensure all will go well.  So, I really wish someone would explain to me why I am now having so much more pain that I was a month ago!  “Everything is fine” and “This is normal” just ain’t cuttin’ it for me!

One of the rehab guys said it has something to do with the nerves, and it will go away eventually.  Eventually?  Jeeez.  With cold weather coming, I don’t think I’m gonna survive, cuz the doc told me, “You’re going to be really unhappy this first winter.”  I’m already unhappy.  And grumpy too, even though I’m trying not to be.

It feels like I have bones splitting and muscles being yanked, twisted and tied in knots, from thigh to ankle.  I figured by now, I’d be able to stop taking the pain killers.  Honestly, they don’t really kill much of anything, but they do take a bit of the edge off.  Still, it would be so much better for me if I didn’t still need them.

They did say the pain would decrease after I finished with the rehab.  Well, Friday was my last day, so maybe……???  sigh…  Really tired of missing church because of all this!

I’m such a baby.  :?

Matthew 5:11-15

11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Pastors fight IRS ban on endorsing candidates

The pastors are challenging an IRS ban on endorsing candidates from the pulpit, which is based on rules that forbid nonprofits from taking part in political campaigns. Preachers say the ban violates their rights to free speech and freedom of religion.

“I don’t want anyone censoring what I say in the pulpit,” said the Rev. Henry Coles of World of Faith Christian Center in Nashville, with a congregation of about 400.

To prohibit a preacher from teaching the Word of God is definitely a violation of the 1st Amendment. If candidates running for any office violates that Word, then all pastors should be able to inform their congregations. (Read up on The Black Robe Regiment)

Clergy should think twice before breaking the law, said Barry Lynn, executive director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State.

This bozo should do a bit of homework. There is no such thing as the ‘separation of church and state’. The 1st Amendment prohibits a state run religion, as they had in England, that people were forced to be a part of.

“Americans attend church for spiritual guidance, not to get a list of candidates to vote for on Election Day,” Lynn said in a statement.

Spiritual guidance also includes knowledge. But I guess this guy wouldn’t know anything about that.

The ban on nonprofit political endorsements dates to the 1950s. Lyndon B. Johnson was mad at nonprofits that opposed his re-election, so “he rammed these rules through to punish his opponents,” said Richard Hammar, editor of Church Law and Tax Report.

As my dad always said, “Johnson was a horse’s ass in law school, and he’s still a horse’s ass!” Ya see, my dad knew him, so he could say it. Such rules violates the 1st Amendment, and should have been squashed at the time. Unfortunately, liberals and their commie (but I repeat myself) friends have taken such ‘rules’, and have done their best to remove God from every aspect of American life. You can see the results of their efforts every night on the news.

The only way we, as a nation, will prosper, is when we turn our faces BACK to God. Our decline began when we allowed the few to strip away our rights as a faithful nation.

Psalm 1

1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
