An Ol' Broad's Ramblings

This afternoon TICS received a phone call from a person who could not get his firearm out of pawn at a Tennessee pawn shop because when the background check was run and the firearm information was included, the firearm turned up a STOLEN GUN entry in the FBI’s NCIC Stolen Gun File. Of course, TICS dispatched law enforcement to the pawn shop to verify the firearm as being stolen and the responding officer confiscated the firearm.
The man himself had passed the TICS/NICS check but could not get his gun back. He called TICS to complain and told TICS that he had been paying the pawn shop on the gun for two years.
This is a great example of two things:
1) It is never a good idea to purchase a firearm from someone if you are not absolutely certain of its provenance and that it is not a stolen gun.
2) If the pawn shop had checked the firearm BEFORE taking it into pawn, this problem would have been averted by all. Now, the pawn shop probably has a disgruntled customer to deal with.
Use of the new online Stolen Gun Check function included in the TICS upgrade put into operation on January 9, 2012, can help eliminate this kind of problem.

…from D.J. It pretty much sums up the state of the primaries so far though, doesn’t it. The media and talking heads have picked the candidate they want to lose to D’Bama, and that’s that!
No, I’m not actually ‘endorsing’ Santorum, not that anyone would think my endorsement would put a candidate over the top. Heh. I do lean more towards him than anyone else. I have to make up my mind for sure in the next week or so…early voting in Tennessee starts on the 15th of February and goes through the 28th. Our primary on March 6th, and the baby is due on the 8th, so it’s possible I won’t be in the state to vote. Y’all be sure to have your ID on ya when you go to cast your vote!
The Great Keystone XL Pipeline Massacre
Move was dead giveaway of Obama’s left-wing agenda
by Ted Nugent
President Obama’s decision to put a bullet in the back of the head of the Keystone XL pipeline is all the proof you need to know that his modus operandi is to sidle up to environmental green-energy crackpots instead of creating thousands of American jobs and honestly pursuing energy independence for America.
What the Great Keystone XL Pipeline Presidential Massacre of 2012 affirms is the president’s out-of-touch energy policy: Oil is bad. The sun and wind are good. This policy, of course, is dumb and dumber.

An ID to Buy Sugar? But Not For Voting?
by Lincoln Brown
It would appear that some of the Greater Minds of our nation have reached the conclusion that the government needs to look further up your colon than we would have dreamed. Literally. Researchers at the University of California San Francisco have decided that sugar is a toxic substance and that the federal government should regulate it much as it does alcohol and tobacco.
As someone who kicked the tobacco habit I can tell you it is unhealthy, and I feel better having walked away from it. The health and social benefits are wonderful, not to mention I am saving a pile of cash. I would recommend it to anyone. Recommend it, but not demand it. It’s not my business to tell you whether or not to smoke, to drink or for that matter to eat a box of donuts.

Who Would Jesus Tax?
by Doug Giles
This past Thursday at the National Prayer Breakfast, Obama said that his Christian faith crafts his domestic policies—particularly his desire to rob from the rich and give to the poor. In my humble opinion, I think the president is getting Jesus and His disciples confused with Robin Hood and his Merry Men.
I don’t know which White House wizard crafted that speech for him, but the verse he or she gave to our Spender in Chief to back his socialism was more twisted out of joint than a Gumby doll being worked over by a frustrated Gary Busey.
I can’t believe that hot coffee didn’t spew from hundreds of Christians’ mouths when Obama took a text that refers directly to believers’ judgment and contorted it to be interpreted as a ratcheted-up government imposed higher tax rate upon those who already bear the brunt of the tax burden.

Are we being bamboozled? Is it any wonder that people are thinking their vote doesn’t count? Do you know ANYONE who is a Mitt Romney supporter? I sure don’t! Yet…there he is…on the top of the heap! I’d really like to know if there are some serious irregularities going on. Are Democrats voting in the Republican caucuses and primaries? Because, to be perfectly honest, I don’t see any other way that Romney has won anything! No self respecting conservative would fall for the BS that “he’s the only on that can beat Obama”. No self respecting conservative would vote for the father of ‘RomneyCare’ the preceded ObamaCare! No self respecting Republican would vote for the guy who George Soros says is no different than Obama!
Unfortunately, Jesus isn’t running, so we will have to work with what we have! But Romney? *shakes head* If he is foisted on us, just like John McCain was, I will vote for him, but it will be extremely difficult! It would be even MORE difficult to vote for Ron Paul, but I’d do that too, just to get that lying, scheming, phony out the White House!
We didn’t get to this point over night, and it won’t take just one election cycle to fix it! If we end up with a RINO, then we had best make sure we have a strong majority in BOTH houses of Congress!
1 “Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which the Lord your God has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess,
2 that you may fear the Lord your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged.
3 Therefore hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as the Lord God of your fathers has promised you—‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’
4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!
5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.
6 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.
7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
