Double standards are one of my biggest pet peeves. As somebody with a disability I know what it’s like to be the victim of one.

By the way I know this is off topic but don’t you think the recent supreme court ruling is something worth posting about?

  2. olbroad. 3 April 2012, 7:21 am

Yup… it annoys the bejabbers outta me too.  But ‘that’s different’ when it comes to the left.  GRRRRRRRRRRR

Oh yeah….I do think it’s an important issue.  Unfortunately, the real world has been invading my computer world, and I just really haven’t had much time to do any in depth examination.  One of these days, I’ll get back to being my ol’ butt sitter self.  :D

I can assure you that politics is not the only realm where double standards exist. If I may I would like to tell a story. When I was in high school there was this guy named John who used to pick on me. Behind his back I called him a jerk, this other girl named Amber heard what I said and got outraged and called me a jerk. This other guy who picked on me named David, called this girl Ann the B word behind her back and Amber heard him say it but all she said was “Why? What did she do to you? In a calm voice.” If that’s not a double standard then tell me what it is.

As for the Supreme Court ruling, Ben Franklin is rolling over in his grave.

PS: I know you are a Christian, and there is as verse somewhere in Deuteronomy that tells us to use only one system of measurement with one another, and no I don’t mean like the American versus the metric system, that’s different.  Do not have two differing measures in your house—one large, one small. Do not have two differing weights in your bag—one heavy, one light. You must have accurate and honest weights and measures, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you” THat’s DET book 25 versus 13-15.

Do I condemn Rush Limbaugh for his recent comments? Yes I do, but I also condemn Bill Mahr and anybody else who sinks to such a level. I don’t hold any double standard.

When you get a chance please try to respond to my post above about the double standard. Gentle reminder.

Been gone most of the day, and actually played gardener this evening.  I may need a crane to get me out of bed tomorrow.  I ACHE!  Heh.

Yep…quite familiar with the passage.  In the Torah, that subject is covered several times.  :D

Ok, here’s my take on the Rush thing…  Yeah, he probably should have chosen his words a bit better, and he did apologize.  BUT….the woman who was referred to as a four lettered word put herself out there, and in my opinion, sounded like one.  In front of Congress, the country, and the world.  She is actually a leftist activist, not the regular ‘student’ as she was presented. :?   Seriously, 3K a year for contraception?  $4 a month at Wal-Mart.  Condoms for free.  Don’t they charge like $300 for an abortion at Planned Parenthood?  That would be a lot of murdered babies every year.

As for people like Maher, they call conservative women horrible names with NO reason, or indication what they have called them has any basis in fact.

  7. Taylor. 4 April 2012, 11:07 am

As I said I don’t care for either one of those men. But what is your take on the story I told above about the girl named Amber?

  8. olbroad. 4 April 2012, 3:23 pm

Honestly?  I would have to say….Amber is a typical lib.  LOL

  9. Taylor. 4 April 2012, 5:12 pm

Why would you say that? I never told you anything about her politics. In fact I think she said she hated Bill Clinton.

  10. olbroad. 4 April 2012, 7:37 pm

It was a joke.  Jeeez!  The type of things she said are typical of the left.  *shakes head*

  11. Taylor. 5 April 2012, 5:40 pm

Sorry I didn’t mean to take it the wrong way. I just think of her as a bad person. Some of the people she liked in HS turned out to have some criminal records.

  12. olbroad. 5 April 2012, 8:37 pm

That speaks volumes about her character, or lack there of.

  13. Taylor. 6 April 2012, 10:23 pm

Agreed. I mean who is she to judge me when she doesn’t judge them?

  14. olbroad. 7 April 2012, 10:23 am

She evidently, as I said before, has the lib ‘mentality’.  Oh, I know there are some on the right who do the same thing….double standards and all that….but not nearly to the degree the left does.  Besides, it’s not our job to judge .  Best thing you could do….look her in the eye and tell her you forgive her for not realizing that her words are hurtful, and that you will pray for her.  :D

  15. Richard Hayes. 12 April 2012, 10:40 am

Great Great Points….Finally someone who speaks to the reality of this tragic event

  16. olbroad. 12 April 2012, 11:09 am

Zo has a tendency to point out the obvious.  :D
