A Blog FYI

Apparently, our server is going to be doing some upgrading, or some such thing, so…..

This upgrade includes newer software packages (including Python, Perl and gcc), as well as all the security and performance benefits that come along with CentOS 6. In addition to this, the server will be redeployed with a different file system type simultaneously, further increasing performance.

Although a bulk of the upgrades to your server are being done with it online and functional, in order to safely finalize these changes our Administrators will need to temporarily take your server offline in the early morning hours.  Barring any extenuating circumstances this outage should only last about 2 hours.

Please note that while we do not anticipate your software having problems post-update, it may be required to re-compile any module(s) you are using to take advantage of the newer included libraries. We suggest reviewing your site afterward to verify that it is functioning as it should.

I have no idea what all that means, I leave that kind of stuff up to the guru, but if this site vanishes for a couple of hours, not to worry…. it WILL be back!  I hope!  :D

Hardin County Driver Service Center Temporarily Closed for Maintenance

The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security today announced that the Hardin County Driver Service Center located at 60 Brazelton Street, Unit 10, in Savannah is temporarily closed due to a building maintenance issue. The facility will be closed until further notice.

Seriously? Homeland Security? Why on earth would Homeland Security have diddly to do with a building maintenance?  Wouldn’t that be more like the, oh…I dunno….maintenance department?

Obama Drops His Name Into the Other Presidential Biographies

Many of President Obama’s fervent devotees are young enough not to have much memory of the political world before the arrival of The One. Coincidentally, Obama himself feels the same way—and the White House’s official website reflects that.

The Heritage Foundation’s Rory Cooper tweeted that Obama had casually dropped his own name into Ronald Reagan’s official biography on www.whitehouse.gov, claiming credit for taking up the mantle of Reagan’s tax reform advocacy with his “Buffett Rule” gimmick. My first thought was, he must be joking. But he wasn’t—it turns out Obama has added bullet points bragging about his own accomplishments to the biographical sketches of every single U.S. president since Calvin Coolidge (except, for some reason, Gerald Ford).

A few screen shots for ya…just in case someone just happens to let him know we already realize he’s more arrogant than all previous 43, put together:

Calvin Coolidge

Harry Truman

Jimmy Carter

Ronald Reagan

George W. Bush

Someone MIGHT want to clue in that narcissistic POS, no one gives a happy crap about him when all they want to do is read about previous presidents….some that actually ACCOMPLISHED something positive for the nation, unlike HIS massive failures!

Has ANY president ever had the audacity to insert themselves into the bios of any other president?  Not that I’m aware!

Soldier Attacked By Cowards

U.S. Army soldier brutally beaten in South Tampa

Police want your help finding four men who teamed up to beat a young U.S. Army soldier in a South Tampa street.

It was an awful welcome to Tampa Bay for a young soldier. Police say the victim of a violent beating caught on camera is 24 years old and has lived in Tampa for less than a month.

He’s a U.S. Army soldier assigned to MacDill Air Force Base and lives not far from the base at Dale Mabry Hwy. and Interbay Blvd.

Police say Sunday morning, at around 3 a.m., the soldier’s car broke down a few miles from home along Westshore Blvd.

The attack came when he was walking home and using Iowa St. to get from Westshore to Dale Mabry. At the intersection of Iowa and Renellie Dr., the man came into the view of a neighbor’s motion-activated security camera.

A group of three young men is seen walking ahead of the soldier. Police say one of the men in the group doubled back and asked to soldier to borrow a dollar. When the soldier reached for his wallet, the first punch flew.

A sucker punch, no less.

This is a young man who is serving his country, doing what he can to keep trash like this safe, and this is how he is repaid for his service?

Three blacks, one possible Hispanic.  You ever notice that it is never just one that attacks?  It’s always many to few, usually one or two attacked by 4, 10, 30……  The word cowardice comes to mind.  One on one seems quite rare.  When will Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton be holding their rally in support of this young man?  When will they be out demanding justice for this soldier?  Will Obama take to the airwaves, calling the attack of one of “HIS” soldiers ‘stupid’?

Yeah….that will be like….never!  This actual victim is the wrong color.

Don’t Fear the Free Market
The Foundry

The lingering headline on the front pages this week is that JP Morgan Chase suffered a massive loss on a hedging strategy, costing them $2 billion. That’s no small mistake, and it’s an example of how bad decisions in the free market can cost big money. But just because mistakes have consequences doesn’t mean that the mighty hand of government needs to step in to save us from ourselves. However, that’s what some on the left are now calling for.

The news of this blunder hit last week when JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon revealed that the bank took a $2 billion loss over the past six weeks in a strategy intended to hedge against risks to the bank’s assets that could come from market volatility caused by the Euro crisis. On Sunday’s Meet the Press, Dimon admitted, “In hindsight, we took far too much risk. The strategy we had was badly vetted. It was badly monitored. It should never have happened.”
