Double amputee Pistorius makes Olympic history
South Africa’s Oscar Pistorius made history on Saturday when he became the first double amputee to compete in an athletics event at the Olympics.
The 25-year-old qualified for the semi-finals of the 400 metres by running a season’s best of 45.44 seconds in finishing second.
Pistorius, who had both legs amputated below the knee before he was aged one, because of a congenital condition, runs on carbon fibre blades.
I’m not much into sports these days, and this year’s Olympics have been a major turn off, thanks in large part to the lousy coverage of NBC, but this guy? HE impresses me!
Here’s this kid, who grows up without the ‘benefit’ of both legs, overcame all kinds of obstacles, and there he is…running in the Olympics! It brings to mind that old adage…. You can do ANYTHING if you set your mind to it! Of course, let’s not forget all the hard work that people have to put in to get where they want to be.
I think we could ALL learn something from this young fella. HEY! OBAMA! He DID do that!

And ya know what? I bet he didn’t have someone like that fool up there in D.C. regulating his every move, blocking him at every turn, to PREVENT him from succeeding and realizing his dream!

G’day!
Hot Damn, that’s AMBITION!
Indeed!
He didn’t build those.
Pfft!
