An Ol' Broad's Ramblings
Archive for September 2012
I’ve been doing a LOT of reading lately….more so that usual. Well, basically, that’s about all I’ve been able to do. LONG story, but suffice it to, I haven’t been all that functional.
Apparently, I had forgotten you can actually read it on your computer if you don’t have a Kindle, so I would recommend getting it! It’s not a really long book, but it is extremely readable, and quite informative! Unless you have been living under a rock, you will be familiar with the doings in Wisconsin since Scott Walker was elected, and took office in January of 2011. Cindy gives us a timeline, and includes a number of items you likely never heard on the evening news. If you have any interest in current affairs, politics, and the future of the country, this would be a good choice. Learn what we are up against as a nation through the example of Wisconsin.
2- Back in March, fellow blogger Wyatt (Shawn Goodwin) of Support Your Local Gunfighter released his very first attempt at fiction writing, with Pamela Meister. I said buy it! Have you? *tapping toes*
I gave my unprofessional opinion back in April, I really did enjoy it, and have been bugging him to do a sequel. Heh. Yeah… I can be a pest. One thing that chaps my hide…they lowered the price AFTER I already bought it. Is this a Murphy’s Law thing? :? Quite affordable on Kindle now, at $3.99! *glare*
3- If you want a chin dropper of faith and redemption, I HIGHLY recommend The Lost Testament by Brian Thompson (Kindle $2.99).
Set in the early 1960s North Carolina, with all the ugliness that entails. I don’t often give a book 5 stars, but this one, I had to (on Amazon). It was well written, with twists and turns, and quite a surprise ending. I wonder if Mr Thompson will write a sequel? I should be so lucky. sigh….
Well, that should keep y’all busy for a while. There are a LOT more I could recommend. I’m finding that some of those free, or VERY low priced Kindle books are pretty dadburn good.
Every once in a while, I’ll post something that annoys someone. Ok, admittedly, I haven’t been doing so much of that lately, cuz well, I just haven’t felt up to it, but recent events got my motor revved, and I had no choice. As is the norm, there will be someone who leaves a comment on such a post, with numerous four lettered words, calling me names that are almost comical. Almost, but not quite. Such comments say a lot about the person leaving them…incapable of putting two words together to form a coherent thought. Add the vulgarities, and you basically have an 8th grader who thinks it’s cool to speak like a street thug.
Welp, this latest comment that came out of the Milwaukee area got me to cackling.
Now, it’s not what he/she said, which was actually nothing, that got me snickering, but what he/she called him/herself.
Now, one thing I’ve noticed is if you attempt to copy and paste a language other than English, like Arabic, you will end up with a bunch of question marks, so I’m going to take a wild stab, and say that my computer didn’t translate the actual comment. Just as well, I’m thinking.
Of course, we knew he would put his moves on eventually. I’m thinking LEASH!
Time to trap the kid. He didn’t much care for that! Gotta find him a bigger cage!
grrrrrrrrrrrrr I could have sworn I hit publish back on the 24th, but just found it in ‘drafts’. Very annoying! Oh well, better late than never, right?
15 The joy of our heart has ceased; Our dance has turned into mourning.
16 The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned!
17 Because of this our heart is faint; Because of these things our eyes grow dim;
18 Because of Mount Zion which is desolate, With foxes walking about on it.
19 You, O Lord, remain forever; Your throne from generation to generation.
20 Why do You forget us forever, And forsake us for so long a time?
21 Turn us back to You, O Lord, and we will be restored; Renew our days as of old,
22 Unless You have utterly rejected us, And are very angry with us!

Muslim leaders challenge Obama defense on anti-Islam film
US president accused of religious war on Muslims
Muslim leaders demanded international action to stop religious insults in a challenge to US President Barack Obama’s defense of freedom of expression at the UN General Assembly. Obama made a strong condemnation of “violence and intolerance” in his speech at the UN headquarters on Tuesday. He said world leaders had a duty to speak out against the deadly attacks on Americans in the past two weeks caused by an anti-Islam film made in the United States.
But Muslim kings and presidents and other heads of state said Western nations must clamp down on “Islamophobia” following the storm over the film which mocks the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono of Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim nation, said the film was another “ugly face” of religious defamation.
Hey…murderous pedophile worshiper…you wanna see the REAL “ugly face”? Look in the mirror! Look in your so called ‘holy book’! Look at what YOUR muzzie murderers do to innocents! How about the Christian bishop that was beaten by muzzie thugs? Think that’s ugly? No? Well, how about the two women in India who were raped, then dismembered? That’s not ugly enough either? Well, then what about the rape and murder of a little 12 year old girl? Does shooting innocent children count as ‘ugly’? I suppose teaching your children to hate and want to slaughter people is ok? Not ugly at all, eh?
I dunno….this seems fairly ugly to me:

This young man had converted from the ‘religion of peace’.
Let’s not forget about the Fogle family.
That’s just the tiniest of samplings from you savages! I’m pretty sure most Americans won’t ever forget what your ‘religion’ did on 9/11! You want to talk about ‘religious insults’? Your so called religion is an insult to every civilized being on this planet! That pathetic apology for a stupid video from that piece of excrement that occupies the White House does NOT speak for me. I do NOT apology that you are a bunch of murderous thugs! If anyone needs to apologize, and ask for redemption, it’s YOU! If you want to worship the prince of lies (aka Satan), and his so called prophet, feel free…but leave us the hell alone! We aren’t interested in your 7th century EVIL!
THIS is the REAL ‘ugly face’, in just the last 30 days!
Now, you show me a list, or pictures, where Christians or Jews, have butchered anyone! And self defense against your pigs don’t count! How DARE you!! No one has declared war on your evil cult. Just the opposite! Your evil cult has declared war on the civilized world! We WILL fight back!
Is ‘Green Day’ Racist?
The Apologizer in Chief. The Madman of Iran. The Muslim Brotherhood honcho.
And then, we have an actual leader…a man with a spine, who is not afraid to speak the truth. If only the Western world had more like him, perhaps, we wouldn’t find ourselves heading down the path to destruction.
As parents and grandparents, and in some cases, great grandparents, we’ve watched as the education we once received from public schools go downhill. Instead of being able to read, write, comprehend, and actually THINK, our kids are learning it’s all George Bush’s fault, the polar bears are dying (they aren’t… my granddaughter was surprised to learn the truth of their increase in numbers), and America was founded by greedy old white men, and a large number of them can’t even read at their age level, or write legibly!. Does anyone else see a MAJOR problem here?
Why is it that only seven states give the parents of the children the power to control their kids education? Because the government and the teachers unions won’t get out of the way, perhaps? They think they know what is best for the future leaders of our country? If what I’ve seen is any indication of our future generations, we are sunk!
I truly hope that more parents will speak up and take control back from the indoctrinators. Our children deserve the best, and they are being failed by the very system that should be educating them for the future, whatever paths they may take.
To be honest, I’m actually pleasantly surprised that the Hollyweirds would even take on such a topic, instead of shoving more sex, drugs, and violence down our throats.
Hollywood Steps Up in “Won’t Back Down”
A new movie opens in theaters today that couldn’t be more timely. The school year is hitting its stride, and the teachers union in Chicago just captured the national spotlight by strong-arming that city to meet its demands—at the expense of students and taxpayers.
The time is ripe for a story like Won’t Back Down, starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis as mothers who can’t stand to watch their school fail any longer.
Gyllenhaal’s character is a single mom advocating for better educational opportunities for her child. Davis plays a teacher in the school who wants to improve it. This is a crucial partnership: parents and teachers working together to create a better future for students. While teachers unions have already denounced the movie, Heritage education expert Lindsey Burke has urged that criticizing unions and criticizing teachers are not one and the same.
Criticizing education unions for standing in the way of reform should not be conflated with criticizing teachers… The unions have blocked reforms such as performance pay and charter schools…have opposed alternative teacher certification that would help mid-career professionals enter the classroom, and have consistently fought the implementation of school choice options for children.
