An Ol' Broad's Ramblings
The Empty Chair Speaks
I didn’t watch the clown in chief last night. I had better things to do…like put together a jigsaw puzzle, empty the ashtray, pick at a scab, and scratch my butt. Ok, so we watched Pawn Stars. But this morning, out of some demented curiosity, I found the video, and listened to it. Honestly, I don’t think I’ve heard so many lies coming out of one person in such a short period of time since the Brat came home drunk as a teen! That incident was actually amusing, in a sick sort of way….especially when she slid down the wall. This? Well, this was just painful.
Apparently, I’m not the only person who thought this was a waste of 40 minutes.
Obama: A Pedestrian and Overconfident Speech – Michael Tomasky (The Daily Beast)
Let’s be blunt. Barack Obama gave a dull and pedestrian speech tonight, with nary an interesting thematic device, policy detail, or even one turn of phrase. The crowd sure didn’t see it my way. The delegates were near delirium; to what extent they were merely still feeding off the amassed energy of the previous two nights I can’t say.
And swing voters watching at home? They probably weren’t as bored as I was, but it seems inconceivable that they’d have been enraptured. This was the rhetorical equivalent, forgive the football metaphor, of running out the clock: Obama clearly thinks he’s ahead and just doesn’t need to make mistakes. But when football teams do that, it often turns out to be the biggest mistake of all, and they lose.
Of course, being a leftist site, facts and truth aren’t that important, so the author didn’t bother to check the words against the reality. And I’d really like to know what they put in the water, or whatever the droolers were drinking, because no sane, well informed person would fall for his line of caca de toro…AGAIN! Their reactions to fairy tale they were being read is indicative of the willful ignorance so many have imposed on themselves.
Krauthammer On Obama: “One Of The Emptiest Speeches I Have Ever Heard” – Charles Krauthammer (Real Clear Politics)
I was stunned. This is a man who gave one of the great speeches of our time in 2004, and he gave one of the emptiest speeches I have ever heard on a national stage. Yes, it had cadence, and yes, there were deceptions in it, but that is not what is so striking about it. There was nothing in it. This is a man who believes that government can and should do a lot. There is nothing in here that tells us how he’s going to go from today to tomorrow. For any of the so called goals and what government is going to do, what is he going to enact?
At least Romney had a five point plan. What we heard from Obama was a vision. And he pulls numbers out of a hat. 100,000 new math and science teachers. 600,000 more people working in natural gas. Two million more trainees, and he doesn’t say how we get from A to B. It’s a vision. I have a vision of an America where there is no disease and everybody has a private airplane, but unless I tell you how we get there, I’ve said nothing. And what is so surprising, is that – all he had left – he can’t speak about his record on the economy, and it’s not a good one. As we heard, he didn’t speak about achievements, the one that’s liberals like, ObamaCare, stimulus and etc… they’re unpopular.
I remember watching that speech in 2004. I told the Mr at the time, that young fella is going places. He gave such an impressive speech. Of course, little did I know, he was nothing more than pretty words, and an empty, yet distorted, ‘dream’. He now has a very well known record, at least for those who have bothered to pay attention. Big dreams are fine, but if you have nothing to back them up, except more rhetoric, you might as well wake up from that dream, and start facing reality. The sad truth is, Obama’s dream, and the REAL American dream, do not coincide. (Go see 2016!! Or read Dinesh D’Souza’s books!)
I also got the impression that the ‘Providence’ part was an after thought. IMHO.
It’s time we got our act together and work for a REAL change from the last 4 years! No, Romney isn’t perfect, but he isn’t Barack Hussein Obama either, and that’s one HUGE plus in his favor. If he can’t do the job, then we’ll find someone else in 2016. We will…we MUST…return to the roots of our founding!! It’s time to pull the U.S. Constitution out of the trash heap, and return it to its rightful status!
Here’s some FACT CHECKING for ya! And not the left or the MSM (but I repeat myself) version!

I fixed our toilet last night.
I didn’t waste time changing the channel, just turned it off at 9 and went to bed. Not much point in listening when I can recite a brief synopsis:
“I…I…I…(Lies) I…I…I… (Class warfare) I…I…I… (Socialist garbage)…”
Repeated and mixed ad nauseum.
Heh. Sounds like y’all were quite constructive last night. Hey… I think my toilet is leaking….
