At least 4 dead after train crashes into trailer during Texas veterans parade

A freight train slammed into a parade float carrying wounded veterans on Thursday, killing four people and injuring 17 others as the float a West Texas railroad crossing on its way to an honorary banquet, authorities said.

The eastbound train was sounding its horn before it hit the float around 4:40 p.m. in Midland, Union Pacific spokesman Tom Lange said. A preliminary investigation indicates the crossing gate and lights were working at the time, Lange said, though he didn’t know if the train crew saw the float approaching.

Two people died at the scene of the crash, while two others died at Midland Memorial Hospital, City of Midland spokesman Ryan Stout said. Ten of those injured are in critical condition, while the other seven are in stable condition, he said.

“There is going to be a very thorough investigation,” Lange said. “It’s obviously a very tragic incident.”

Photos of the float taken during the parade show about two dozen people seated in chairs set up on the back of a flatbed tractor-trailer decorated with American flags. A banner across the truck’s front bumper reads, “Heroes on Board.”

Many prayers going out to the families and friends. No words can express the sorrow.

Via My West Texas: Of the 17 injured, 10 are in critical condition and seven are in stable condition, officials said.

Demography is destiny
by Ann Coulter

Liberals brag about having won the hearts and minds of America, as if, through logic and argument, they’ve persuaded people to accept their bankrupt European socialist ideas.

Democrats haven’t changed anyone’s mind. They changed the people.

More white people voted for Mitt Romney this year than voted for Ronald Reagan in 1980. Barack Obama lost white voters by 20 points — the widest margin since 1984.

But in 1980, whites were 88 percent of the electorate. In 2012, they were 72 percent of the electorate. Not only that, but the non-white electorate is far more Democratic than it was in 1980.

If the same country that voted in 1980 had voted in 2012, Romney would have won a bigger landslide than Reagan did.

Most Americans don’t realize that, decades ago, the Democrats instituted a long-term plan to gradually turn the United States into a Third World nation. The country would become poorer and less free, but Democrats would have an unbeatable majority!

If the sole intent of these hearings is to “understand” what was behind the murder of four Americans in a country that the Obama administration actually ENCOURAGED to kill and destroy, then IMHO, they are wasting time and money. We KNOW what was behind the attack! As we know what is behind EVERY attack on Westerners, and Western interests and countries. Pure hatred!

Unlike this, and previous administrations, a good many people have actually done their homework on this cult of murder, and are quite aware that there will never be peace between the civilized world (matter of opinion) and the barbarism that is Islam. So, querying what was behind the attack is a waste. Finding out why the pleas for security BEFORE the attack were ignored should be the focus of the hearings, followed by why aid was denied DURING the attack, then what did he/they know, and when did he/they know it!

Knowing that Clinton had informed Congress that she will being drunk in Australia with friends, doing a little Secretary of State work in between, and won’t be able to testify, speaks volumes of this entire administration, and the value they put on the lives of those four murdered men.

I already know what was behind the attacks. What I want are facts from this feckless administration! I don’t want speculation, conspiracy theories, or ‘feelings’ that all was well. If I was going to ‘speculate’, I’d say that this breach of security was intentional, and the intent was the death of Ambassador Stevens. And no Mr Obama, I do not for one minute believe you give a damn about ANY American.

But as I said repeatedly, if people don’t think that we did everything we can to make sure that we saved the lives of the folks who I sent there and who were carrying out missions on behalf of the United States, then you don’t know how our Defense Department thinks or our State Department thinks or our CIA thinks. Their number one priority is obviously to protect American lives. That’s what our job is.  (news conference transcript)

You have failed….miserably!

A note to the lame stream, and even Fox!  Get over the Petraeus BS, and get back to the REAL issue!!    Leave the soap opera to those who give a damn, like the Obama voters.  The grownups want TRUTH!

Benghazi Hearings Begin on Capitol Hill
The Foundry

Today, hearings begin in the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House and Senate Intelligence Committees on the terrorist attack that killed Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11.

In a new Issue Brief, Heritage’s James Jay Carafano and Morgan Lorraine Roach write:

Understanding what was behind the September 11, 2012, terrorist attack on the U.S. facility in Benghazi and the tragic results is vital for preparing for future security threats to embassies, consulates, and diplomatic missions. The attack in Benghazi reveals a terrorist attack profile that the U.S. is likely to see again.

Al-Qaeda-affiliated sources have already called for additional attacks on U.S. embassies. Regardless of the motivation and organization behind Benghazi, the U.S. government should anticipate that al-Qaeda and its affiliates will aspire to more such attacks.
