An Ol' Broad's Ramblings
I wanted to keep you updated on the budget situation in Washington. Today the House passed the Fiscal Year 2014 Budget Resolution by a vote of 221-207. My colleagues and I approved the budget to help get America back on a path to economic prosperity.
The House budget does several great things I want you to know about: it simplifies the tax code, it opens up the Keystone pipeline, repeals Obamacare, strengthens Medicare, and works to eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse from federal spending. Most importantly, the House budget does something that hasn’t been done in years- it balances the federal budget.
We have an obligation to manage the people’s money in a responsible way. After all, it is your money and we’ve got to be accountable as we get deficit spending under control. This budget will do that in an appropriate way and in a way that honors the commitments and promises we’ve made.
I downloaded the budget, and if I live, will actually read it. Shocking, I know.
