How Many States Plan To Disarm?
A Gun Ban in the US is Impossible
by J. D. Longstreet
Text of the 2nd amendment to the US Constitution:
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
What part of “SHALL NOT” do the gun control advocates NOT UNDERSTAND?
This time, the US Supreme Court has been asked to decide if the states have the right to take your guns away. We’re talking about the state governments – not the federal government.
Would you bury your child for your ideology?
Ideology to Die For
by Mike Adams
It is a truism to say that there are many anti-gun ideologues among our educational elites. But few are as honest as Doug Van Gorder – a math teacher at Brockton High School. He admits that he would rather lose a child than exercise his right to defend himself with a gun. In the wake of a recent school shooting, he wrote this in a Letter to the Editor of the Boston Globe:
Some propose overturning laws that made schools gun-free zones even for teachers who may be licensed to securely carry concealed firearms elsewhere. They argue that barring licensed-carry only ensures a defenseless, target-rich environment. But as a progressive, I would sooner lay my child to rest than succumb to the belief that the use of a gun for self-defense is somehow not in itself a gun crime.
Morally speaking, I have no problem with anti-gun ideologues who wish to place themselves in peril by waiving their rights of self-defense. You almost have to respect someone who is willing to die for his beliefs. But when he decides that others should also die for his beliefs the real trouble begins.
Guns In Tennessee
Tennessee gun permits up 23% last year; increase 16% in Shelby County
The number of Tennesseans licensed by the state to go armed increased by nearly 51,000 people last year — to 268,711, according to new state statistics.
That’s an increase of 23 percent over the 218,004 Tennesseans with handgun-carry permits on Jan. 1, 2009. By comparison, the 2008 increase was 14 percent, according to Tennessee Department of Safety figures.
In Shelby County, the number of residents with handgun-carry permits jumped by 5,205 in 2009 to 38,130, up 16 percent. The Shelby County increase in 2008 was 15 percent.
The new data indicate that about 6 percent of Tennessee residents old enough to have a handgun-carry permit — those ages 21 and up — had one at the start of this year.
The permit rate is a little lower among people with Memphis addresses. The 20,716 people in the city with gun permits account for about two out of every 50 Memphis residents 21 and up, or nearly 5 percent.
It seems to me that even more people over the age of 21, not just in Tennessee, but nationwide, should be armed. Why? Well, honestly, if you are a criminal, and you don’t know who is packing, you’re less likely to try to assault the citizen. I also don’t believe it should be necessary to have a permit of any sort to be personally armed. The Founders weren’t kidding when they added the 2nd Amendment:
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
This particular amendment has been picked apart, on both sides of the issue, for years, but what’s to pick? Granted, the English that the Founders spoke wasn’t exactly the same as the language we speak today, but the whole Constitution seems pretty clear to me, including this one piece. Without this one, the 1st Amendment is just words on a piece of paper.

Tea Party rattles America’s educated class
Feared and mocked, movement has become wild card of U.S. politics
Barely a week into a new decade that will redefine America’s place in the world, the feisty yet fractious Tea Party movement is readying its next brew.
A landmark Tennessee convention in early February is aimed at transforming a year of caffeinated conservative rage into a political force to make heads roll.
I would have been going to the convention, but we’ll be in Jamaica until the 3rd, and odds are, I’m going to be totally worn out. We all know that us old folks have to recuperate after vacations.
As Tea time approaches, nerves are jangling. New York Times columnist David Brooks, a conservative intellectual, made big waves this week with a piece voicing fears that the “Tea Party brigades” have “the potential to shape the coming decade,” using hard times to push the United States hard to the right.
If you haven’t read this so called “conservative’s” column, it’s here.
Brooks’ analysis hinged on a succession of polls suggesting that not only are America’s natives more restless than ever, but that the grassroots fury is aimed at what he described as “the educated class” of Republicans and Democrats alike.
Why is that people like Brooks assume that this grass roots movement is made up of the uneducated? This assumes that those of us who attended Tea Parties aren’t educated? Now, I don’t know about you, but many of the people I met at these events were extremely intelligent, and many had, golly gee, college degrees! There were REAL practicing doctors, REAL practicing lawyers, and even a REAL Constitutional scholar! Even the Mr has a college degree. You know what they say about assuming, right? Mr Brooks’ assumption has made him a major ASS!
“The educated class believes in global warming, so public skepticism about global warming is on the rise. The educated class supports abortion rights, so public opinion is shifting against them. The educated class supports gun control, so opposition to gun control is mounting.” And so on with foreign affairs, Brooks said, pointing to new Pew Research Center numbers showing a sharp rise in American isolationist sentiment.
“The educated class” evidently isn’t as smart as they’d like you to believe. I’ve known many extremely intelligent people, with a number of degrees from institutions of ‘higher learning’ who were dumb as a box of rocks. Oh, they could add 2 and 2, but they couldn’t reason. I wonder if he is calling those 31,000 scientists who are suing The Boracle ‘uneducated’? Do those ‘educated’ he is referring to believe that life is not sacred? Not real smart in my opinion. “Educated” believing in mass murder doesn’t make them intelligent, it just makes them mass murderers. I’m also guessing this so called “educated class” has never read the U.S. Constitution, since they aren’t aware that, by law, citizens are not only allowed to own weapons, but to actually use them for self defense. IMHO, that 2nd Amendment actually ENCOURAGES the citizens to do so.
Liberal blogger Bill Scher, author of the progressive political tome Wait, Don’t Move to Canada, went after him head-on at the Huffington Post, noting that despite a year of noisy protests, the Tea Party movement has proven itself capable of nothing more than snap, crackle and pop. Every element of the Obama agenda, from health care to climate to stimulus, is proceeding apace.
Oh yeah, all that unconstitutional crap is moving forward, alright, contrary to the will of WE, THE PEOPLE! This just magnifies the fact that those who were elected to work for us, no longer know their place….as OUR employees! Mr Scher is going to be REAL surprised when his preferred socialist agenda is stopped dead in it’s track, one way or another!
“The only way I can see the right-wing fringe actually metastasizing into something more would be for President Obama to be seen widely as a failure. And I don’t think the middle of the country is anywhere close to making that judgment.”
Clue….Obama IS being ’seen widely as a failure’, and it’s not just what you are calling the ‘right-wing fringe’. Not just the right see him as a failure, but some on the left are finally seeing him for what he really is….an incompetent, lacking serious leadership skills.
Grassroots and populist, the amorphous Tea protesters comprise a hydra-headed amalgam of sensibilities, some undeniably ugly. But some, despite Brooks’ assessment, are actually extremely well schooled – and deeply offended by the notion that all opposition to Washington rests on ignorance.
Yep, there are some pretty smart folks on our side of the issues. People who believe in freedom, and are willing to fight for it too. Right now, we are fighting the takeover of our lives through protests, rallies, townhalls, and not supporting candidates that actually walk the walk, and not pay lip service. Come November, we’ll be voting, en masse, to remove those who have forgotten their bosses.
“You do have people in the Tea movement who are – let’s face it – insane. People who think Obama is the anti-Christ,” said John Mark Reynolds, a philosophy professor at Biola University and an active voice for thoughtful conservatism.
Oh, I’ll admit, there are a few serious fringe types that have been drawn to the Tea Parties. Unfortunately, a great many of them are Ron Paul supporters that make him look down right deranged. There are the ‘birther’ types, who are justified in asking the questions, but are taking it to extremes. But don’t forget the absolute crazies on the other side too.
You know the ones….the type who have nothing to back up their point of view so resort to calling names.
Most agree the movement is the wild card of American politics today – one that could evolve toward third-party status, but more likely will flex its muscle within Republican circles by pressing for the nomination of “core-value” conservative candidates over moderates. Several such battles are already underway, with Tea Party supporters rallying behind upstarts Marco Rubio of Florida and Gary Johnson of New Mexico.
Personally, I don’t understand why we are considered a wild card. When millions of Americans are interested in preserving the republic, intended by our Founders, I’d say that was a whole lot more than just a wild card!
There’s more you can read for yourself.
One of the arguments is that the Tea Partiers don’t have a ‘leader’ and perhaps Sarah Palin is trying to step into that role. Well, personally, I don’t believe we need a leader, Sarah, or anyone else for that matter. Mostly, we seem to work together quite well. Yes, there have been some dissension, but it’s to be expected that occasionally, egos get in the way. Over all, we are united in our desire to remain free. Free to succeed or fail, without government intervention.

Why Is This Even An Issue?
H.R. 17: Citizens’ Self-Defense Act of 2009
To protect the right to obtain firearms for security, and to use firearms in defense of self, family, or home, and to provide for the enforcement of such right.
Has anyone read the U.S. Constitution? There’s the section often referred to as The Bill of Rights. Right there, in the second one, it says: A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
First, it speaks of the militia. Well, communities need local folks to protect them, so there are local law enforcement. Many believe that the National Guard is what is referred to as ‘militia’. Not exactly. Individuals need to be involved in their ability to protect their ‘free state’. It also states that the people, as in “We, The People”, have the right to keep and bears arms, aka, personal weapons.
Infringe-
Definition:
1. (tr) to violate or break (a law, an agreement, etc.)
2. (intr; foll by on or upon) to encroach or trespass
Synonyms:
contravene, run afoul, conflict, breach, infract, transgress, violate, go against, offend, break
How difficult is this to understand?

Stick To Sports!
My heart goes out to the victims of the Fort Hood and Orlando shootings and their loved ones. Senseless, senseless incidents. I will not go quietly into the night on this one. America needs to do something about idiots with handguns. How many more Fort Hoods and Orlandos do there have to be before our political leaders have the guts to severely restrict access to murderous weapons?
The attacker at Ft Hood was a MUSLIM TERRORIST. The guy in Orlando was just plain crazy. Comparing the two as the same thing was your first mistake.
IF the soldiers at Ft Hood had been armed, as they should have been IMHO, this guy wouldn’t have gotten past the first couple of shots. If workers in Orlando had been armed, this guy would have been stopped cold.
When are the ignorant going to stop blaming the guns?

No Self Defense Allowed!
TN Attorney General says landlords can ban tenants’ guns
Attorney General Bob Cooper says landlords can ban their tenants from bringing firearms into their property even if they have handgun carry permits.
Cooper said in an opinion released Wednesday that landlords can either include a firearms ban in the lease or through signs posted on the property.
But Cooper ads that violators couldn’t face criminal charges if the landlord doesn’t post signs.
The opinion was requested by Republican Rep. Tony Shipley of Kingsport. Legal opinions issued by the attorney general indicate his office’s interpretation of the law, but unlike court opinions, they aren’t binding.
In other words, the state AG just told landlords to put up a sign basically stating:
NOTICE:
TENANTS UNARMED!
THUGS WELCOME!
United States Constitution – 2nd Amendment: A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
Constitution of the State of Tennessee – Article 1, Section 26: That the citizens of this State have a right to keep and to bear arms for their common defense; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime.
Obviously, I’m no constitutional scholar, but honestly, I don’t think you need to be to understand either of these. For any landlord to refuse to allow law abiding citizens to own weapons on a rental property doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. I’d see that as a violation. For the state AG to say it’s ok? Well, maybe he should rethink his ‘agenda’.
Got Gun? No Health Care!
ObamaCare and the Disarmament of US Citizens
by J. D. Longstreet
To do this commentary justice you really need to read this short piece in The Washington Times. Please do so before continuing this commentary. Just click the link HERE.
We knew it was just a matter of time. So, apparently the Obama administration has decided it IS time.
How many times have we warned that ObamaCare would punish American gun owners? We were shouted down each time.
Now, we can see the attempt by the Obama regime to tie guns into some sort of health issue in order to make gun ownership fall under the auspices of Obamacare where gun control will be a huge issue.
Simply put, under Obamacare there is a strong likelihood that if you own a gun you will not get healthcare insurance. Read the article at the link above for a better understanding of how the Obama regime is going about this.
Well, looks like a vast majority of conservatives, along with a few 2nd Amendment Democrats, law officers, and the military won’t be getting under Obummer’s regime. Reckon if we get sick, we’re suppose to “die quickly”. Hey….wait a minute, isn’t that what the doofus Grayson say was the Republican plan? Hmmm… So, basically, if I understand this correctly, people who are exercising their God given right of self defense are going to be penalized by the unconstitutional ObamaCare? I sure hope I’m reading this wrong!
Power!
The National War Powers Consultation Act
by J. D. Longstreet
Just a snippet:
So, what have they proposed that has my ire pulsing a bright red? A number of things, but first and foremost… they chose to ignore the clear, plain, language of the US Constitution. There is no ambiguity in the Constitution’s bestowing upon the Congress the power to declare war. Period. The President can ASK for a declaration of war… but he does not have the constitutional power to declare this country at war, period. Along comes the so-called National War Powers Consultation Act and, suddenly, the office of the President is dragged into the decision to declare war. That is clearly unconstitutional. The President is given only the power to command the armed forces in a war, which has been declared, FIRST, by the Congress. Nothing could be clearer.
I ask you, what is so hard about reading the constitution and understanding what it says in plain English? I do not understand it! Ever since the 2nd Amendment was ratified Americans have had the right to keep and bear arms, but… just a short time ago 4 out of the 9 Supreme Court Justices didn’t think Americans had that right… even though The Constitution plainly says that we do. Now comes this abomination, which totally ignores the constitution and decides that Congress doesn’t have the sole power to declare war but must share that power with the executive branch, the office of the Commander-in-Chief. It’s another attempt at an end run around the constitution and it ought to be shot down immediately.
Read the whole post here. And please read the link that J.D. has provided as well.
We no longer have representatives. NO, what we have are rulers. An elite group of people who have decided the U.S. Constitution is longer relevant. At least not in their grand scheme of things. Our future is looking quite bleak these days.

Hillbilly pol takes shot at mayor
A Republican gubernatorial hopeful in Tennessee yesterday slammed Mayor Bloomberg’s crusade against illegal guns — and told him to “stay the heck out of” his state.
Zach Wamp, who’s running for the seat that will be open because of term limits, took the jab at the Big Apple mayor in a Twitter post.
The broadside came a day after Bloomberg revealed that 40 private investigators hired by the city bought firearms at gun shows in Tennessee, Nevada and Ohio between May and August — despite the buyers telling the sellers they couldn’t pass mandated background checks.
Ok, what is it with New Yorkers? Do they actually believe everyone who doesn’t live in New York is a ‘hillbilly’? Do they even know what a hillbilly is????? Evidently not! I would have thought the Post had a little more sense than to use such a term. This is
And Zach Wamp is right! That socialist anti-gun millionaire needs to mind his own damn business! The Tennessee Constitution states in Article I, Section 26: That the citizens of this State have a right to keep and to bear arms for their common defense; but the Legislature shall have power, by law, to regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime. If Bloomberg would take a good hard look at the state of Tennessee, the only cities with a massive crime problem are those that are run by Democrats with the same mind set as him. I’m going to agree with Wamp….Bloomberg and all of his ilk need a big ol’ dose of shut the hell up!

Other than that, for the record, I do NOT support him for TN governor.
I Sure Hope It’s Not Contagious!
Friend and blogging bud, Texas Fred, is really good at getting under the skin of as he calls them, “libber pukes”. Fred pulls no punches!
Well, earlier today, Fred put up a post about the anti-gun mayors. In the course of the afternoon, he discovered there was ONE mayor in Texas who had signed on to Mayors Against Illegal Guns. Now, I honestly don’t see the need for such an organization. I don’t know a single person who is FOR ‘illegal guns’, other than criminals, and they don’t give a flip about legality of anything. Well, the exchange between Fred and Mayor Feckless of Hurst (or as many folks I knew in Dallas called it, Wurst) Texas got quite, shall we say, interesting.
I gotta tell ya, if this clown is an elected official, no wonder people call it Wurst! What a juvenile reaction to an email….FROM anyone! This is the face he’s putting on his city?? I find it really hard to believe this guy was actually BORN in Texas! How embarrassing!
A small portion of this idiot’s response:
You are as ugly as you are dumb. I suggest you at least take your picture from your web site. If you want to see a handsome dude, go to the City Of Hurst web site.
Hey Mayor! Here’s yer sign!
Whose Decision?
High court to look at local gun control laws
The Supreme Court agreed Wednesday to decide whether strict local and state gun control laws violate the Second Amendment, ensuring another high-profile battle over the rights of gun owners.
The court said it will review a lower court ruling that upheld a handgun ban in Chicago. Gun rights supporters challenged gun laws in Chicago and some suburbs immediately following the high court’s decision in June 2008 that struck down a handgun ban in the District of Columbia, a federal enclave.
The new case tests whether last year’s ruling applies as well to local and state laws.

Amendment II
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
Seriously. It’s not that complicated.
Judges on both courts — Republican nominees in Chicago and Democratic nominees in New York — said only the Supreme Court could decide whether to extend last year’s ruling throughout the country. Many, but not all, of the constitutional protections in the Bill of Rights have been applied to cities and states.
I was under the impression that the Constitution, along with the Bill of Rights applied to ALL citizens, no matter what state, or city. Am I mistaken? I’ve always been under the impression it was our God given right to protect ourselves from the evil that permeates the world, and that includes the scum that wanders the streets of our cities. Why do we depend on fallible humans, with an agenda, for laws when common sense should prevail?
