Conservative VS RINO?
McCain, Hayworth Trade Campaign Barbs
Sen. John McCain enlisted a rising star of the Republican Party in a bid Friday to lock down support among conservative primary voters.
Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown made his first campaign trip as a senator when he visited Arizona.
Brown is a Massachusetts ‘conservative’. There is a HUGE difference between a Kennedy state ‘conservative’ and a REAL conservative.
Sen. John McCain definitely has powerful friends, like Brown, who have helped him open up a sizable lead in the latest Rasmussen poll, 23 percentage points, over Republican challenger and former U.S. Rep. J. D. Hayworth.
Seriously? Who are they asking, McCain campaigners? Are the good folks in Arizona not aware that John McCain, while distinguished for his service to our country in the military, has been a brain drain on the Republican Party? It’s because of politicians like him, we are having such financial difficulties, of BOTH parties.
“The only poll that really counts comes on Aug. 24,” said Hayworth.
He does have an important point here. Hopefully, Arizonans will educate themselves on the SERIOUS issues, like border security, that are of great to concern for all of us, not just their state.
I’m proud of my conservative record. I was just named the third most conservative fiscally by the national taxpayer’s union,” said McCain.
Uh…what? WHAT? Has his record improved, and I wasn’t aware? It could happen. It’s not like I have all the time in the world to keep up with John McCain. I’m having a hard enough time dealing with my own 2 senators.
But, if you want to see where McCain really stands on taxes, just check out this column from Human Events (1/16/08). Sorry. Conservative and John McCain do not belong in the same sentence.
But Hayworth says McCain is just a conservative actor, and in a recent ad, compared him to a character in the move “Avatar,” complete with a blue face and war paint. It was a characterization some feel was in poor taste.
Yep. Puts on a ’suit’ through virtual means, and is something else behind the scenes all together. Not too complicated to figure out the reference. And I haven’t even seen the movie.
“I think he should also apologize to me and to Native Americans,” said McCain Friday.
What an idiot! If he must apologize to anyone, how about the Druids? Heh. I’m not familiar with any “Native Americans” who paint themselves blue, me included.
“Congressman Hayworth was thrown out in 2006 in part because of his remarks and ties to Abramoff, who is now in prison,” said McCain.
“It never even involved a formal investigation. By that very action, John McCain, in my mind, has disqualified himself from further service in the U.S. Senate,” said Hayworth.
Sure sounds like McCain is getting desperate. Throwing out accusations, without documented backup, is pretty flippin’ lame. Well, I guess he’s not being called McLame for nuthin’! He should really choose his words more wisely when throwing out such accusations. Otherwise, they may come back to bite him on the hinder.
If I Lived In Tennessee’s 9th……
… I would seriously consider voting for this young lady! Charlotte Bergmann is running as a Republican for the seat currently held by Steve Cohen. Cohen is being challenged, for the Democrat nomination, by the former Mayor of Memphis, Willie Herenton. That’s gonna be an interesting race. Willie doesn’t have a website, at least not that I can find, so I can’t link one.
Ok, back to Charlotte. I don’t know much about her, other than what is on her website, but from what I’ve read, it will be very interesting to watch her progress. She seems like a very bright young lady, who would do the district proud. Heaven knows, with Memphis smack dab in the thick of things, the district desperately needs a new face, with new ideas!
Another Landrieu in Office
New Orleans elects first white mayor since 1978
Mitch Landrieu was elected mayor of New Orleans on Saturday, the first time in over 30 years that voters of this majority-black city have chosen a white candidate.
Landrieu, a Democrat and Louisiana’s lieutenant governor, won more than 50 percent of the vote, defeating a field of 10 other competitors and avoiding a run-off election. Democrat Troy Henry, a black businessman, came in second.
Landrieu, 49, the son of New Orleans’ last white mayor, Moon Landrieu, rode a wave of discontent over the slow pace of the city’s recovery from Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and rampant crime.
I’d be more impressed if NO had elected a Republican. Who cares if he’s white? He’s a Democrat, which in that part of the country, usually means “business as usual”. Well, with a sister in the Senate, making those backroom deals, I’m sure there will a LOT more of our money heading in that direction real soon.
Did He Really Say That?
If you live anywhere near Memphis, and maybe, even if ya don’t, no doubt you’ve heard of the infamous former mayor of Memphis, Willie Herenton, investigated by the F.B.I. and who knows what else. He kicked off his campaign for U.S. Congress in the Tennessee’s 9th District against Steve Cohen (D) who was elected in 2006. As Dems go, Cohen could be worse. When it comes to Willie? I don’t think the 9th could pick a WORSE candidate. You think it’s bad in D.C. now? I’ve NO doubt it’ll get much worse if Willie comes to town.
From WMC: (click link to watch the short video)
Unlike many politicians, Herenton did not avoid the issue of race. Instead he spoke very candidly.
“I want all the white citizens that are fair minded and believe in a representative form of government to understand us and to join us,” Herenton said.
Let me see if I’ve got this right. Willie wants ‘fair minded whites’ to get behind him? Personally, I can’t understand how any ‘fair minded’ person, of ANY color would get behind him for anything. Ya sure wouldn’t wanna be in front of him either, well, unless of course, ya wanna be thrown under the proverbial bus.
I wonder if Willie actually understands what a representative form of government really is? Hmmm…
The Honeymoon Is Over!
On the precipice
by Mark Steyn
I’ve been out of the country for a couple of days, so let me see if I’ve got this right: America’s preparing to celebrate the first anniversary of Good King Barack the Hopeychanger’s reign by electing a Republican?
In Massachusetts?
In what the tin-eared plonkers of the Democrat machine still insist on calling “Ted Kennedy’s seat”?
Remember the good old days when the glossy magazine covers competed for the most worshipful image of the new global colossus? If you were at the Hopeychange inaugural ball on Jan. 20, 2009, when Barney Frank dived into the mosh pit, and you chanced to be underneath when he landed, and you’ve spent the last year in a coma until suddenly coming to in time for the poll showing some unexotically monikered nobody called Scott Brown whose only glossy magazine appearance was a Cosmopolitan pictorial 30 years ago (true) four points ahead in Kennedy country, you must surely wonder if you’ve woken up in an alternative universe. The last thing you remember before Barney came flying down is Harry Reid waltzing you around the floor while murmuring sweet nothings about America being ready for a light-skinned brown man with no trace of a Negro dialect. And now you’re in some dystopian nightmare where Massachusetts is ready for a nude-skinned Brown man with no trace of a Kennedy dialect.
Read the rest here.
Methinks we ‘knuckle draggers’ have been sorely underestimated. One would like to believe that now we will be listened to when we shout at the top of our lungs “NO”, but how can they hear if they’re in their castle, with the draw bridge up, and fingers in their ears? “la la la la la I can’t HEAR you!”
‘Nuff Said!
2008 flashback: ACORN graded Coakley A+
Mass Resistance has dug up an interesting press release in Democrat Attorney General Martha Coakley’s political past. In 2008 Ms. Coakley sent out an endearing press release praising the now scandal embroiled ACORN.:
“I am honored to have received this recognition from ACORN,” said Attorney General Coakley. “As our office continues to fight predatory lending practices, it is important for local, state, and federal officials, as well as others to work together to try and provide relief and real solutions to individuals who face the threat of foreclosure.”
Ms. Coakley is the top law enforcer of Massachusetts, and her support of ACORN’s practices makes one wonder where her ethical compass actually rests in matters of how she handled the licensing of non-profits in her state as well as being responsible for the reporting and financial disclosures of those groups.
ACORN supporting this woman, in any capacity, speaks volumes about her character, or lack thereof!
Note To Massachusetts Voters
Should you vote for a woman who, if elected, swears to uphold a document she obviously hasn’t read, or has no understanding?
After discussing her “Mission Accomplished” remark regarding Afghanistan, I moved to the healthcare issue. I chose this based on her vitriolic campaign attack on Scott Brown’s participation in a bill allowing medical people with religious principles to find another emergency room care provider to administer a pill or service to end the life of an unborn in the womb. I figured her guarded answer to date would be interesting but she outdid herself….
Ken Pittman: Right, if you are a Catholic, and believe what the Pope teaches that any form of birth control is a sin. ah you don’t want to do that.
Martha Coakley: No we have a seperation of church and state Ken, lets be clear.
Ken Pittman: In the emergency room you still have your religious freedom.
Martha Coakley: (……uh, eh…um..) The law says that people are allowed to have that. You can have religious freedom but you probably shouldn’t work in the emergency room.
Perhaps Mzzzzzz Coakley should actually try reading the 1st Amendment a time or two. I doubt it will help, but you never can tell. So, maybe someone should explain to her that NO WHERE in that document do the words “separation of church and state” appear. NO WHERE! Evidently, this woman, who has a rather shady past, to say the least, is telling people with strong conviction of faith, where they can, and cannot work? I’d say that anyone who has such limited knowledge of the founding of this nation, should NOT be allowed to hold office. That would take care of a great deal of Washington, D.C.
Whatcha think? Send the whole bunch home, start from scratch, and leave the political machines on the cutting floor. And for the love of all that’s holy, do NOT elect more of the same!!!!!!
What Games Will They Play?
Rep. Frank lashes out over accusations that Mass. Dems would stall a Brown certification
House members returned from their recess over the holidays today, and health care legislation was the number issue on the agenda. The Senate race in Massachusetts, though, could change the dynamics of the debate, should GOP State Senator Scott Brown prevail next week. The Democrats risk losing their 60-seat filibuster proof majority with a Brown win.
Uh….wait a minute. You mean after the attempted murder of numerous human beings, creating a nation of slaves is top on the list of priorities? Does anyone else see a major problem here?
However, while the special election for the Massachusetts Senate seat previously held by Ted Kennedy has yet to be decided, the Brown campaign has already charged that Massachusetts Democrats will find a way to keep Mr. Brown from being certified, should he win, before the final vote on health care legislation happens in the Senate. Fox News spoke to Mr. Brown about his concern on this issue.:
“When I heard … the machine, not only locally but nationally, is trying to manipulate the process and make sure that if I’m elected, a duly elected senator, I can’t be seated in an effort to vote on this important piece of national legislation, it made me almost sick to my stomach,” Brown said.
“Everything I’ve heard right now I don’t like very much,” said Massachusetts Senate Minority Leader Richard Tisei, noting the secretary is signaling he will “drag his feet”
Odd. I was thinking the same thing. While what’s his face from NY23 was sworn in by the House before he had even been certified by the state election board, it wouldn’t surprise me one smattering that the Senate will do all it can to prevent Brown from taking ‘the people’s seat’ should he be victorious.
“That is the stupidest thing I’ve been asked in a long time. That is insane, the suggestion could only come from a demented right wing source,” erupted Representative Barney Frank (D – MA), when asked by The Washington Times about what he thought regarding assertions that Massachusetts Democrats would stall the certification process should Mr. Brown win. “There isn’t the slightest possibility of it happening—a way of doing it. That is conspiracy theory at its most contemptible.”
Well then, Bunny, you haven’t been paying attention to your own party’s actions in recent months, have you. To misquote Shakespeare, “methinks thou dost protest too much“. Although, in your case, it’s possible to use the actual quote: “The lady doth protest too much, methinks…“. (Hamlet, in case you were wondering.)
The Boston Herald reported that, according to a source, Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin’s office wants to certify the race on Feb. 20. A spokesman for Mr. Galvin’s office explained that local election districts have to wait at least 10 days before they submit their returns, so military and overseas ballots can be tallied as well. 15 days is the maximum amount of time to submit the returns to the secretary’s office, before they go to governor’s office.
Even though the will of the people has been thwarted at every turn, Congress is working very hard to shove this piece of crap down our throats. If dragging feet is the only way they can retain 60, then that is what they will do. Citizens from across the country should let the powers that be know, WE ARE KEEPING A VERY CLOSE EYE ON YOU! They should also be aware, we know that union members are being bussed in and PAID to stand around in ’support’ of Coakley.
One of the union workers actually turned around and said “I’m paid to be here, but I’m voting for Scott Brown. I just need the money, but don’t tell anyone.”
You can read more about the behavior of some of the union thugs, and some pre-debate commentary from Fleming & Hayes.

Tea Party rattles America’s educated class
Feared and mocked, movement has become wild card of U.S. politics
Barely a week into a new decade that will redefine America’s place in the world, the feisty yet fractious Tea Party movement is readying its next brew.
A landmark Tennessee convention in early February is aimed at transforming a year of caffeinated conservative rage into a political force to make heads roll.
I would have been going to the convention, but we’ll be in Jamaica until the 3rd, and odds are, I’m going to be totally worn out. We all know that us old folks have to recuperate after vacations.
As Tea time approaches, nerves are jangling. New York Times columnist David Brooks, a conservative intellectual, made big waves this week with a piece voicing fears that the “Tea Party brigades” have “the potential to shape the coming decade,” using hard times to push the United States hard to the right.
If you haven’t read this so called “conservative’s” column, it’s here.
Brooks’ analysis hinged on a succession of polls suggesting that not only are America’s natives more restless than ever, but that the grassroots fury is aimed at what he described as “the educated class” of Republicans and Democrats alike.
Why is that people like Brooks assume that this grass roots movement is made up of the uneducated? This assumes that those of us who attended Tea Parties aren’t educated? Now, I don’t know about you, but many of the people I met at these events were extremely intelligent, and many had, golly gee, college degrees! There were REAL practicing doctors, REAL practicing lawyers, and even a REAL Constitutional scholar! Even the Mr has a college degree. You know what they say about assuming, right? Mr Brooks’ assumption has made him a major ASS!
“The educated class believes in global warming, so public skepticism about global warming is on the rise. The educated class supports abortion rights, so public opinion is shifting against them. The educated class supports gun control, so opposition to gun control is mounting.” And so on with foreign affairs, Brooks said, pointing to new Pew Research Center numbers showing a sharp rise in American isolationist sentiment.
“The educated class” evidently isn’t as smart as they’d like you to believe. I’ve known many extremely intelligent people, with a number of degrees from institutions of ‘higher learning’ who were dumb as a box of rocks. Oh, they could add 2 and 2, but they couldn’t reason. I wonder if he is calling those 31,000 scientists who are suing The Boracle ‘uneducated’? Do those ‘educated’ he is referring to believe that life is not sacred? Not real smart in my opinion. “Educated” believing in mass murder doesn’t make them intelligent, it just makes them mass murderers. I’m also guessing this so called “educated class” has never read the U.S. Constitution, since they aren’t aware that, by law, citizens are not only allowed to own weapons, but to actually use them for self defense. IMHO, that 2nd Amendment actually ENCOURAGES the citizens to do so.
Liberal blogger Bill Scher, author of the progressive political tome Wait, Don’t Move to Canada, went after him head-on at the Huffington Post, noting that despite a year of noisy protests, the Tea Party movement has proven itself capable of nothing more than snap, crackle and pop. Every element of the Obama agenda, from health care to climate to stimulus, is proceeding apace.
Oh yeah, all that unconstitutional crap is moving forward, alright, contrary to the will of WE, THE PEOPLE! This just magnifies the fact that those who were elected to work for us, no longer know their place….as OUR employees! Mr Scher is going to be REAL surprised when his preferred socialist agenda is stopped dead in it’s track, one way or another!
“The only way I can see the right-wing fringe actually metastasizing into something more would be for President Obama to be seen widely as a failure. And I don’t think the middle of the country is anywhere close to making that judgment.”
Clue….Obama IS being ’seen widely as a failure’, and it’s not just what you are calling the ‘right-wing fringe’. Not just the right see him as a failure, but some on the left are finally seeing him for what he really is….an incompetent, lacking serious leadership skills.
Grassroots and populist, the amorphous Tea protesters comprise a hydra-headed amalgam of sensibilities, some undeniably ugly. But some, despite Brooks’ assessment, are actually extremely well schooled – and deeply offended by the notion that all opposition to Washington rests on ignorance.
Yep, there are some pretty smart folks on our side of the issues. People who believe in freedom, and are willing to fight for it too. Right now, we are fighting the takeover of our lives through protests, rallies, townhalls, and not supporting candidates that actually walk the walk, and not pay lip service. Come November, we’ll be voting, en masse, to remove those who have forgotten their bosses.
“You do have people in the Tea movement who are – let’s face it – insane. People who think Obama is the anti-Christ,” said John Mark Reynolds, a philosophy professor at Biola University and an active voice for thoughtful conservatism.
Oh, I’ll admit, there are a few serious fringe types that have been drawn to the Tea Parties. Unfortunately, a great many of them are Ron Paul supporters that make him look down right deranged. There are the ‘birther’ types, who are justified in asking the questions, but are taking it to extremes. But don’t forget the absolute crazies on the other side too.
You know the ones….the type who have nothing to back up their point of view so resort to calling names.
Most agree the movement is the wild card of American politics today – one that could evolve toward third-party status, but more likely will flex its muscle within Republican circles by pressing for the nomination of “core-value” conservative candidates over moderates. Several such battles are already underway, with Tea Party supporters rallying behind upstarts Marco Rubio of Florida and Gary Johnson of New Mexico.
Personally, I don’t understand why we are considered a wild card. When millions of Americans are interested in preserving the republic, intended by our Founders, I’d say that was a whole lot more than just a wild card!
There’s more you can read for yourself.
One of the arguments is that the Tea Partiers don’t have a ‘leader’ and perhaps Sarah Palin is trying to step into that role. Well, personally, I don’t believe we need a leader, Sarah, or anyone else for that matter. Mostly, we seem to work together quite well. Yes, there have been some dissension, but it’s to be expected that occasionally, egos get in the way. Over all, we are united in our desire to remain free. Free to succeed or fail, without government intervention.
PLEASE! Make It Go Away!
Pelosi vows to hang onto House in 2010
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Friday that Democrats’ majority in Congress is not in danger going into the 2010 midterm elections.
Pelosi said that while every election cycle is competitive, and acknowledged the particularly large margin by which Democrats control the House, she would work to keep Democrats in control.
“No, we will be a Democratic majority,” Pelosi told MSNBC in an interview when asked whether her majority would be up for grabs in 2010.
“Every year’s competitive,” she said. “So we have a very big majority — I am committed to protecting that majority.”
Perhaps Queen Nanny should remember the words she spoke on 7 November 2006.
Yeah…THOSE words. Still hilarious! Even more so since we’ve seen just how ‘ethical’ that Dhimmi majority has been.
“We had a very challenging work year, and now we’ll market that to the American people,” she said.
Sorry Nanny, we are already onto your ‘marketing’ and we ain’t buying it! As a matter of fact, we’d like to return the product for a FULL refund!
Anybody In Indiana?
Then I’d suggest you check out this guy, Richard Behney, candidate for U.S. Senate in 2010. We all need more candidates like this guy to stand up and be counted. If we are going to take our country back, we should support any, and all, REAL conservatives! While you’re checking him out, it might not be a bad idea to kick in a few bucks to his campaign. Running against Evan Bayh, he’s going to need all the help he can get to fight the D.C. political machine.
Pink Slip ‘Em All!
Tea Party rally set for today in Nashville
The conservative group Tea Party Nation plans to hold a rally in Nashville today from 11 a.m. until about 1:30 p.m. at the east side of the Capitol building, voicing opposition to the scheduled health-care vote in Washington this weekend.
Speakers will include conservative talk show hosts and activists, said organizer Judson Phillips.
No elected officials or candidates are scheduled to speak, Phillips said.
The event is expected to draw participants from across the state, with several groups chartering buses to make the trip.
I wonder just how much of the story they cut? Since it’s a “Pink Slip Rally“, you’d think they would have mentioned that little tidbit. I’m fairly sure Judson wouldn’t have left that important info out.
It’s actually been moved across the street to the Capital steps.
The Mr and I were planning on going, but family issues came up and weren’t able. If you are in the vicinity, you’ve still got time to go and make your voice heard!
Ann on Yesterday’s Elections
Election 2009: Change I Can Believe In!
by Ann Coulter
– MSNBC, Aug. 31, 2009, Keith Olbermann on Robert F. McDonnell, Republican candidate for governor of Virginia:
“In (McDonnell’s master’s thesis), he described women having jobs as detrimental to the family, called legalized use of contraception illogical, pushed to make divorce more difficult, and insisted government should favor married couples over, quote, ‘cohabitators, homosexuals or fornicators.’ Wow. When did he write this? 1875? No, 1989. Wow, 1989.
“Goodbye, Mr. McDonnell.”
– MSNBC, Sept. 22, 2009, Rachel Maddow also on McDonnell:
“And here’s where the conservative movement and the Republican establishment smash into each other like bumper cars without bumpers. Here’s where Republican electoral chances stop being separate from the wild-eyed excesses of the conservative movement.
“Part of watching Republicans try to return to power is watching … the conservative movement eat the Republican Party, eat their electoral chances over and over and over again.”
On election night, conservatives-eating-Republicans resulted in an 18-point landslide for McDonnell, who beat his Democratic opponent 59 percent to 41 percent — winning two-thirds of all independent voters and ending the Democrats’ eight-year reign in the Virginia governor’s office.
2 Out Of 3 Ain’t Bad
Voters spoke fairly loud and clear yesterday when Republican candidates for governor in Virginia and New Jersey won, in VA, by a landslide. New Jersey is fairly ‘blue’, so the fact that Corzine got sent his walking papers was pretty impressive. Unfortunately, Doug Hoffman (C-NY23) didn’t quite pull it off. There’s been some speculation if the RNC had actually backed the conservative choice over the RINO, and if Scozzafava had done the right thing when she dropped out of the race, and endorsed Hoffman instead of the Dem, perhaps he could have been put in the ‘win’ column. Also, if the silly voters in the district had not wasted their vote on Dede, there was a real good chance Hoffman could have gone to Congress.
What has been the reaction of the media? Well, it’s been fairly predictable.
NBC’s David Gregory, on Wednesday’s Today show, downplayed the huge GOP wins in New Jersey and Virginia as merely reflecting the “anti-incumbency mood,” and “the change message that Obama” started last year. (source)
The gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey looked less like a referendum on Barack Obama than a reflection of their own candidates and issues. Still, the two Republican victories, in predominantly Democratic New Jersey and in purple Virginia, had to smart. (source)
But a Democratic victory in an upstate New York Congressional district — after an ideologically pitched battle between moderates and conservatives over how best to lead Republicans back to power — signaled that the Republican Party faces continued upheaval. (source)
Conservatives overreached, and Tip O’Neill’s dictum reins supreme. That special election in New York’s 23rd congressional district turned out not to be worth all of the sound and fury. (source)
The White House suggested those developments show that hard-liners are taking over the Republican Party, and the trend will affect the 2010 elections. On Monday, presidential spokesman Robert Gibbs predicted, “This is a model for what you’ll see throughout the country.” (source)
There’s this little tidbit as well:
Avoiding the election outcome in the same fashion it has avoided the Tea Party and Town Hall protesters, the White House issued a statement after the GOP victory in Virginia, saying the president was not watching election returns and would not be making any remarks on the results. (source)
That’s just the few I came across this morning. No doubt, if you do some more digging, there are more examples.
What does this all tell us? Well, I’d say that not only does it say something about the media, it also tells us exactly what the Obama White House thinks about We, The People.
