An Ol' Broad's Ramblings
Archive for Illegals
A rose by any other name, argues Juliet, would smell as sweet. On the other hand, a pile of garbage…rotting in the sun, would still stink to high heaven. What they’re calling immigration reform is no rose!
The majority of our forefathers were immigrants, willing or unwilling. Most of the willing came to make a better lives for themselves and their families. The majority worked hard for a living, many became quite successful, many just made it day to day, but they all had one thing in common…they did not come to suck off the government teat!
I have covered this topic more than enough times, shared the story of my adoptive parents, some of my biological history, and no where was there an illegal in the bunch! I have no problem with people wanting to come to the U.S. who have something to contribute, legally. I have a HUGE problem with people, sneaking over the border, overstaying their visas, and taking what they did not earn from other who have lived the ‘American Dream’. They are NOT entitled to a damn thing. You want to come here, come through the front door, and you’ll be welcomed with open arms. Learn the language, assimilate to OUR society, and all will be well. Sneak in, demand ‘rights’, force language changes on signs, government documents, etc., and you will be shunned in all possible manners by those who came with their eyes open, not their hands out!
The so called POTUS gave time to illegals, protesting outside the White House, but shuns veterans who fought so he could steal elections, and force socialism down our throats. The priorities of this administration are way more than bassackwards! They are downright criminal! Why didn’t he have the buses lined up to return them to the border? He had NO problem locking out veterans who wanted to see THEIR memorials! A hypocrite, a liar, a….. words fail me. Spawn of Satan is the best I can do right now.
Separating families? No, don’t separate them. Ship the kids with the parents, since they were born here illegally because of the parents criminal activity! I’m not one who is big on the ‘sins of the fathers’, but in this case, I’ll make an exception.
Yes, I’m more than just a little angry. We should ALL be angry! This administration, and a few previous, has allowed the nation to be overrun by criminals from nations all around the world, and turns a blind eye to the injustice that is heaped upon law abiding citizens. Why? Power. Plain and simple. It’s all about the power. The problem is, the power does NOT belong to those in D.C. The power is OURS! Are we going to just hand it over, as we have been doing for the last 40 years? It’s past time to stand up!
Beware of Happy Talk on Immigration
Ken McIntyre – The Foundry
Is immigration reform coming back from the dead?
Over Thanksgiving, both President Obama and House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) have indicated that the issue —which has meant amnesty, by any other name—is alive on Capitol Hill.
Obama said last week that proponents of amnesty should be “thankful” for Boehner’s stated support for immigration reform and prompted laughter by comparing the complicated issue to a turkey that could be sliced up.
“It’s Thanksgiving. We can carve this bird into multiple pieces,” Obama quipped.
But the metaphor doesn’t really work.
1. lie: an intentionally untrue statement
2. telling of lies: the act of spreading lies
3. something not consistent with fact: something that does not correspond with the known or observable facts
Synonyms: lie, untruth, story, tale, fiction, fib, misrepresentation
Why don’t we just call it what it is…. LIES! Period!
5 Immigration Falsehoods from the White House
Jessica Zuckerman & Ken McIntyre – The Foundry
Congress gets back to its regularly scheduled work on Monday—and there’s plenty of immigration propaganda greeting them.
The falsehoods from the White House just keep on coming, and Catholic leaders have called for clergy to preach in support of the Senate-passed immigration overhaul this Sunday.
On the White House blog, Cecilia Muñoz, assistant to the President and director of the Domestic Policy Council, laid out the Obama Administration’s take on the benefits of “commonsense immigration reform.” The blog, complete with “fact sheets” and the reposting of an animated video, made numerous claims about what the Senate-passed immigration bill (S. 744) would do for U.S. citizens and immigrants alike.
Here is how five of the White House’s latest claims stack up against the facts.
Why bother having any laws at all? Hey…if you’re Obama, they don’t count, so why should WE bother obeying them? We’ve had the Chicago ‘thug culture’ in D.C. for nearly 5 years now, and I don’t know about you, but I don’t see anything I learned about our nation in practice anymore. Who cares what damage is being done to the country, to the future generations that have to pay the price of the current criminals in charge. If Obama wants it, he will get it, even if it means destroying everyone in his path to get it, and that includes US…WE, The People.
I thought perhaps we could survive the rest of his term, if Congress had the cajones to put the breaks on his reckless actions. If we had a Congress that had more testosterone, maybe, but since we don’t….. We may never recover from 8 years of Barack Hussein Obama, and that makes me both sad, and extremely angry!
We have three branches of power, written into the U.S. Constitution, with limitations. Sadly, it’s gotten difficult to see the difference in any of them. They have all melded into one huge, over bloated, ‘seat of power’, never intended by our Founders. Career politicians who refuse to give up their power and perks, and get rich off the backs of us poor ‘working stiffs’, shafting us with their dreams of the ultimate ‘utopia’.
Yes…I’m quite angry, and putting into words is quite difficult when such anger is overwhelming. Two thirds of both the House and the Senate could put a stop to these shenanigans, but as I said….no testosterone, and many who actually hate this country, and her CITIZENS, as much as Obama.
He is NOT a king, and we are NOT his subjects! And the sooner people wake up to that fact, the sooner we can stop the damage, and pray we can reverse it, without bloodshed!

Obama Grants Amnesty to Illegal Immigrants Without Congress
Jessica Zuckerman – The Foundry
Congress hasn’t passed immigration legislation, but that hasn’t stopped President Obama from issuing directives that grant amnesty to illegal immigrants.
Last week, the Obama Administration issued the latest in a line of policy directives granting amnesty by default. This latest directive instructs Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials not to enforce immigration laws in cases where an illegal alien is the primary provider for any minor child—regardless of the child’s immigration status—or the parent or guardian of a child who is a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
Does anyone really know what’s in this amnesty bill Congress is trying to shove down our throats, just like they did with Obamacare? I’d have to say few, if any Senators even read the damn thing before they voted for this fiasco. Thankfully, there are people our here in the real world who are doing the job the Senate won’t do….READ THE BILL! Here’s just a small snippet of a piece on Zero Hedge by Michael Snyder via The Economic Collapse blog:
#7 Thanks to illegal immigration, California’s overstretched health care system is on the verge of collapse. Dozens of California hospitals and emergency rooms have shut down over the past decade because they could not afford to stay open after being endlessly swamped by illegal immigrants who were simply not able to pay for the services that they were receiving. As a result, the remainder of the health care system in the state of California is now beyond overloaded. This had led to brutally long waits, diverted ambulances and even unnecessary patient deaths. At this point, the state of California now ranks dead last out of all 50 states in the number of emergency rooms per million people.
#9 It is estimated that illegal aliens make up approximately 30 percent of the population in federal, state and local prisons and that the total cost of incarcerating them is more than $1.6 billion annually.
#16 It is an open secret that Mexican drug cartels are openly conducting military operations inside the United States. The handful of border patrol agents that we have guarding the border are massively outgunned and outmanned.
#17 According to the Justice Department’s National Drug Intelligence Center, Mexican drug cartels were actively operating in 50 different U.S. cities in 2006. By 2010, that number had skyrocketed to 1,286.
#18 Overall, more than 55,000 people have been killed in drug-related violence in Mexico since 2006. That same level of violence will eventually show up in major U.S. cities unless something dramatic is done about illegal immigration.
Please read the entire piece. It’s quite informative!
There are actually some folks who believe that Congress being in recess is a bad thing? Uh…ok. They should be doing SOMETHING! Well, no…no they shouldn’t. It is my opinion that Congress, both houses, plus the other two branches have done quite enough, and it is time to start UNdoing a great deal of what they have already done. And I don’t mean just THIS bunch. I’m talking about damn near every Congress since the git go!
Ya see, someone seems to think that our federal government has a lot more power than they were given by the U.S. Constitution, which was adopted long before you or I were even a gleam in our GRANDDADDY’S eye. They, on the contrary, have a lot LESS power than they have been using, mostly for personal gain, and need to be reminded, once again, they do NOT have the right to slap a chit load of meaningless laws on the books ‘just cuz they can’. Well, they can’t, but they have.
So, here we have this ‘immigration’ issue, that is not about immigration at all. Nope. Immigration is when a person decides, “Hey, I’d like to move to the United States of America, become an American citizen, with all the rights, granted by God, and privileges accorded to a legal American citizen!” Then, they begin a process of doing just that, following all the rules and regulations that it takes to become a legal resident, then citizen, of these fine United States. THAT is a quite simplified version of immigration. Obviously, there is a bit more to it, and with our feckless weasels in charge, becoming a legal citizen has become ever more difficult, even though the vast majority of those WANTING to go through the process are just the type of folks we WANT to come and join our happy family.
Now, what they are calling ‘immigration’ is nothing more than giving the ok to criminals to be criminals, but become not criminals with the stroke of a pen. I’m looking for the logic, but can’t find any.
Everybody has a sob story…some are sobbier than others, but the story is still there, true or not. Legal citizens have their own stories too, ones which our feckless Congress refuses to even acknowledge. How many deaths have been caused by criminals invaders? How many children have been raped by criminal invaders? How many tons of life destroying drugs are on the streets right this minute brought in by criminal invaders? How many billions of taxpayer dollars have been spent on criminal invaders, to the detriment of legal citizens?
All branches of the government take an oath of office, “to protect and defend” the Constitution. With such criminal inviting bills, they are doing just the opposite. In the Constitution, it states, rather plainly I might add, right there in the Preamble, the WE are the government, and WE “…establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity…“, and WE don’t want THEM using our supreme law of the land to wipe their collective, elitist asses. As a matter of fact, WE are getting pretty damn sick and tired of elected officials forgetting just who they work for, and who pays their salaries.
WE don’t have to promote ‘general welfare’ for criminals. As a matter of fact, we have a whole slew of laws on the books that says we don’t have to, and it would be really nice if Congress would remember this little tidbit. And we talk about ‘welfare’, we do NOT mean a monthly check paid by the taxpayers to ANYONE, legal or not. Folks are provided opportunities, and if they choose not to take advantage of their own God given talents, that is THEIR problem, NOT ours.
So, when you go to your townhall meetings with your Congress critters, House and/or Senate, and they tell you they’ll find tooth and nail to prevent the legalization of MILLIONS of criminals, let them know that if they are talking out of both sides of their mouths, as usual, that actions have consequences, and you won’t forget when it comes time for that election donation they want from you, and your vote can’t be bought with pretty words that mean nothing.
NO AMNESTY! For anyone, from ANY country! And that includes those terrorists that have been sneaking across the border as well! SECURE THE FREAKIN’ BORDER!!! Do your damn job!!!
5 Immigration Questions for Your Congressman
Gerren McHam – The Foundry
During the August congressional recess, a pro-amnesty coalition of business and union interests is putting the squeeze on members of the House of Representatives to pass a “comprehensive immigration reform” bill similar to the Senate-passed monstrosity. But hard-working Americans also have a voice and can speak up in town halls with House members while they’re in the districts. Here are five questions to remind them of the wisdom and importance of taking a step-by-step approach to immigration reform.
What a freakin’ joke! Laws don’t mean diddly anymore, so I reckon I don’t have to obey them either. Oh…wait…I’m legal, I obey the laws, to the best of my ability, and yet… our elected representatives INVITE criminals into our country who don’t give a damn about our laws? Does anyone else see a MAJOR problem here?? They don’t obey them….why should I? Oh, that’s right…because I obey GOD’S laws, which our Constitution was based on, even though there are way to many people who fail to remember that little tidbit!
Congress has limited powers. Turning criminals into non-criminals, with the stroke of a pen, is NOT ONE OF THEM! The administration, and I’m not talking about just the Obama administration…I’m including previous ones as well, have over stepped their bounds on a regular basis. Either the legislative branch leads the executive branch around by the nose, or visa versa. Either way, we have created a monster by our lack of attention. What we have created is a body of anti-Constitutional criminals. This has been a danger for our once great Republic. And an FYI, the Supreme Court does NOT have the final say…in ANYTHING! Nor does any other federal court!
Obama has gone around the world, apologizing for our nation, even though we owe NO ONE an apology. What he should be doing is apologizing to US! As should BOTH houses of Congress! We have laws, on the books, passed by previous Congress’, signed by previous presidents, and yet, we have a current Congress, and a current president that blatantly ignore those laws.
I’m real sorry that there are an estimated 2.8 million children (likely, that number is a LOT higher) brought into this country by their criminal parents, risking their children’s lives to steal from those who would come here legally. Steal? Yes…STEAL! Due to the actions of those criminals, those who would LIKE to come to our country, legally, become citizens, and assimilate, are unable to due to the reckless politics of our so called ‘law enforcement. Not the border security, who are not allowed to do their jobs, and risk their lives daily, not the cop on the street, but the big cheeses who ignore the law, and allow criminals to run rough shod over our citizens. With so many illegals, who refuse to learn the language, and are doing their utmost to turn our country into their third world hell holes, there is no room for the well educated, high tech types, who would actually CONTRIBUTE something positive to our nation. Instead, our government is kowtowing to a bunch of third world thugs, marching in the streets, waving THEIR country’s flags, while denying LEGAL citizens services due to the lack of funds, thanks to those criminals.
Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m of the mind that either Congress obeys OUR laws, or we get rid of the WHOLE shebang, and start from scratch! They are NOT upholding their oaths of office, and are showing more loyalty to foreigners than they are to the citizens they swore to protect!
To add insult to injury, there isn’t even a freakin’ BILL on the table! All the while, they are selling US a bill of goods! Perhaps they should go back a few years and watch School House Rock, and remember how the whole process works?
A Backdoor Path to Amnesty?
Rob Bluey – The Foundry
Members of Congress have debated various versions of the DREAM Act more than 30 times over the past dozen years. They’ll do so again today, possibly setting the stage for a backdoor path to amnesty in the U.S. House.
Although no bill text is available — and might not be until after the August recess — a Judiciary Committee panel will hold a hearing this afternoon addressing the immigration status of an estimated 2.8 million illegal immigrants brought to the United States as children.
President Obama, as he’s done often, decided to sidestep Congress last year to implement aspects of the DREAM Act using executive action. The administration deferred, for two years, the removal of certain illegal immigrants.
The issue resurfaced earlier this year in the Senate’s Gang of Eight amnesty bill. And now it appears the House is preparing to introduce its own legislation as part of its piece-by-piece approach to immigration reform.
The House proposal, tentatively called the Kids Act, is the work of two Virginia Republicans: Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte. Last week, Heritage called on the lawmakers to make text of the legislation available so the public can examine it in the context of other immigration proposals. They said it wasn’t written yet.
Apparently, Congress isn’t getting the message. They aren’t listening to the people who have allowed them free reign for far too long, believing, as elected officials, they will do their job to the best of their ability. Well, they don’t. Little of what they do these days is in the best interest of the country, or her citizens. LEGAL citizens, and LEGAL residents!
Right on the Senate’s own web site, they have the oath they take when they take office:
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.
“I, (name of Member), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God” (5 U.S.C. §3331).
I don’t know about y’all, but I do believe they have violated their oaths of office. They have NOT faithfully discharged their duties, which includes securing the borders of this nation to keep the people safe from invasion. And we have an invasion alright! Invaders from all nations of the world are coming into our country, illegally, whether through our airports, or our ports, or…as have SO many…across our southern border which is where we have a HUGE problem.
People are dying, and they do nothing to stop it. As a matter of fact, they encourage slaughter by illegally providing weapons to the most evil among us. Yet, no one has been held accountable. Have those we entrusted with the safety of our nation just blown off the criminal activity? Apparently.
If their first concern was the safety of her citizens, they would NOT be allowing all those who have no respect for our laws a free walk. When legal residents, and LEGAL citizens break the law, there are consequences. When Congress allows criminal elements to walk across our borders, they are rewarded? Does no one see the problem here? Do our Senators and Representatives not understand? THEY are breaking the law!!
Decision Time on Immigration
Amy Payne – The Foundry
Today is a pivotal day in the immigration debate: House Republicans are meeting to hash out their path.
Pressure is coming from all sides. The Senate passed the Gang of Eight’s “comprehensive” plan, and three groups on the right are urging the House to act. President Obama is meeting today with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) has said the House will not take up the same bill the Senate passed—but there is still a danger in trying to work with the Senate.
If the House simply tries to pass a bill so that it can come together with the Senate in conference—informal or formal—Congress will likely tinker around the edges of the Gang of Eight’s plan and give us the immigration version of Obamacare.
As Heritage experts have explained, Congress can address every major aspect of immigration reform and border security without a comprehensive bill.
The plan on the table has severe flaws—and besides, we can’t even trust that laws will be implemented as they’re supposed to be.
When your buddy wanders into a bank, pulls out a gun, and demands the teller turn over his/her stash of cash, and you’re waiting outside with the motor running, you are just as guilty of bank robbery as the person who pulled the gun. It’s called a criminal. Driving the getaway car makes you a criminal, too. Well, that’s what the Senate is doing! They are driving the getaway car after a crime has been committed. In this case, it’s 11 MILLION criminals, and 68 senators are driving the getaway bus. Sadly, even Tennessee has to suffer through the RINO invasion, as both our senators voted for amnesty for criminals. This makes them criminals as well.
Sixty eight senators, who swore an oath to uphold the Constitution, and the laws of the land, violated that oath when they voted FOR this sham of a bill. We won’t forget.
5 Immigration Questions for Members of Congress
James Carafano & Jessica Zuckerman – The Foundry
It’s July 4 week, which means Members of Congress are at home in their districts. As you head to your nearest town hall meeting, take these questions for your Representative. Below, we also provide the real answers you should be listening for.
1. Since the Senate-passed bill doesn’t require the flow of illegal immigrants to stop, how can you say this approach secures the border?
No one can make that promise. The Senate bill, S.744, throws tens of billions of dollars at the problem and calls for meeting arbitrary security standards, but it doesn’t guarantee that illegal immigration will stop.
Also, many of the bill’s “requirements,” such as 700 miles of border fencing and new border patrol agents, would not commence immediately but over time. As with current immigration laws, some provisions would end up being ignored or waived.
S.744 contains no guarantee that the government would keep its promises of more security and enforcement. Even if it did, it wouldn’t even come close to stopping illegal immigration. We’d revisit this debate again within 20 years.
I guess I’ve never kept it a secret how I feel about criminal invaders, aka illegal immigrants, aka undocumented immigrants. I don’t know why they use the word ‘immigrant’, because when you immigrate somewhere, you go through the process of…well…immigrating. What Congress is attempting to do is make us believe this bill is a good thing, and will bring people, who entered our country illegally, out from the shadows, to pay taxes, assimilate, and become productive members of society. What they are REALLY trying to do is grab a huge voter bloc, assuming these criminals, as most criminals do, will vote Democrat.
It’s quite depressing to know that there are a few Rs we had such high hopes for, that have allowed themselves to be led…by the nose…down that Primrose path by deceptive Ds.
So, since it’s already a well known fact I vehemently OPPOSE this sham, I won’t waste my time or energy this morning to reiterate.
Four Words to Watch in the Immigration Debate
Amy Payne – The Foundry
The Senate will begin debate on the Gang of Eight’s immigration proposal next week. Here are four words to watch out for as the Senators make their case—and warnings about what they might mean.
“Cost” is one word that should come up in the immigration debate, because the Gang of Eight’s amnesty proposal has a cost that is simply too high for Americans to bear. Heritage analysis found that amnesty would cost taxpayers trillions of dollars.
Amnesty means that illegal immigrants become legal—and become eligible for Obamacare benefits, Social Security, welfare, and Medicare. But they won’t pay enough into the system in taxes to cover the cost of all these benefits, meaning the rest of the taxpayers will have to bear the burden. This simply isn’t fair to hard-working Americans.
Despite claims of security—and talk of amending the bill—the Gang of Eight immigration bill doesn’t secure the border. Instead, it “delivers nothing new—other than the promise of spending a lot more money and running up our debt.” As James Carafano, Heritage’s E. W. Richardson Fellow, explains: “Amnesty immediately creates an incentive for illegal border crossings and overstays. Thus, the bill’s strategy would drive up the cost of securing the border.”
Heritage President Jim DeMint has said that it’s a false choice for people to say that amnesty is necessary to immigration reform. Amnesty encourages more illegal immigration, and that is not what immigration reform is supposed to do.
Former Attorney General Ed Meese, Heritage’s Ronald Reagan Distinguished Fellow Emeritus, reminds us that America has tried this before, and it didn’t work:
Today they call it a “roadmap to citizenship.” Ronald Reagan called it “amnesty.” And he was right. The 1986 reform did not solve our immigration problem—in fact, the population of illegal immigrants has nearly quadrupled since that “comprehensive” bill.
Beware the word “comprehensive.” As Meese notes above, the amnesty of 1986 was also called a “comprehensive” approach to immigration reform. It doesn’t work, and it’s not what we need. We need a separate, step-by-step approach to immigration reform. An approach that works—that the American people can trust—would start with reforming the legal immigration system and enforcing the security measures that are supposed to be in place.
We’ve Seen the Effect of “Amnesty” Before
Ed Meese – The Foundry
Experts can’t always predict exactly how public policy will affect the nation, despite our best efforts. But when it comes to immigration policy, we have tried many of the types of reforms advocated by today’s Gang of Eight—so we should consider the effects these reforms had in the past.
In the mid-’80s, many Members of Congress advocated amnesty for long-settled illegal immigrants. President Reagan considered it reasonable to adjust the status of what was then a relatively small population, and as his attorney general, I supported his decision.
The path to citizenship was not automatic. Immigrants had to pay application fees, learn to speak English, understand American civics, pass a medical exam, and register for military selective service. Those with convictions for a felony or three misdemeanors were ineligible.
This should sound familiar, as it’s quite close to the path and provisions set forth by the Gang of Eight.
Today they call it a “roadmap to citizenship.” Ronald Reagan called it “amnesty.” And he was right.
The 1986 reform did not solve our immigration problem—in fact, the population of illegal immigrants has nearly quadrupled since that “comprehensive” bill.
Why didn’t it work? Well, one reason is that everything else the 1986 bill promised—from border security to law enforcement—was to come later. It never did. Only amnesty prevailed, and that encouraged more illegal immigration.
Today, we have many of the same needs we did then. We need to work on better securing our border. We need to modernize our legal immigration system, including effective temporary worker programs. And we need strong enforcement of the laws we already have, including those that enforce immigration policies in the workplace.
The Gang of Eight is making promises now. “Border security” is a big promise. But their proposal spends money and grants amnesty without the guarantee that this promise will be kept.
We are having much the same debate and being offered much the same deal in exchange for promises largely dependent on the will of future Congresses and Presidents.
Instead, we should learn from our mistakes.
America welcomes more immigrants than any other country. As Ronald Reagan said:
In this free land a person can realize his dreams—going as far as talent and drive can carry him. In return America asks each of us to do our best, to work hard, to respect the law, to cherish human rights, and to strive for the common good. The immigrants who have so enriched America include people from every race, creed, and ethnic background. Yet all have been drawn here by shared values and a deep love of freedom. Most brought with them few material goods. But with their hearts and minds and toil they have contributed mightily to the building of this great Nation and endowed us with the riches of their achievements. Their spirit continues to nourish our own love of freedom and opportunity.
But in keeping open that door of opportunity, we also must uphold the rule of law and enhance a fair immigration process, as Reagan said, to “humanely regain control of our borders and thereby preserve the value of one of the most sacred possessions of our people: American citizenship.”
The U.S. Attorney General from 1985-1988, Edwin Meese III is Heritage’s Ronald Reagan Distinguished Fellow Emeritus.
They are criminals! Illegal invaders, totally disregarding our laws, not caring about the damage done to our economy. I won’t even bring up the many deaths attributed to them.
If a person wants to become an American, then they go through the proper channels. If they want to bring their third world country standards and ‘values, then so many sneak across the border, or overstay their visa, or however they manage to get here. I don’t believe all those who they are trying to give amnesty to want to be Americans. Some, maybe. But when you see these illegals protesting in our streets, carrying foreign flags, do you really think they want to BE Americans? No! They want the SPECIAL rights and privileges the government is trying to give them.
Congress never seems to read the bills they shove down our throats. They never understand the ramifications of all their feel good legislation. Is it any wonder that only 5% believe Congress represents the best and brightest of our country? We are already so far in debt, the thought of adding $6.3 TRILLION more to that debt is just insane!
Congress and the POTUS need to step back, and for ONCE, use the gray cells God gave them! I, for one, do not believe any of them represent the majority of LEGAL citizens.
New Heritage Study on the Cost of Amnesty
Amy Payne – The Foundry
The immigration debate is about to get a lot more concrete.
Lawmakers need to be honest about the cost of their proposed immigration plans—and a new study due out today from The Heritage Foundation calculates the cost to taxpayers of granting amnesty to unlawful immigrants.
I really hate repeating myself! But I will….those people up in D.C. are certifiably insane! What sane person would put their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren so far in debt, they may never see the light of day?
Well, that’s what we’ve got right now. Crazy people running this country into the ground, destroying what made her great, and ignoring their true purpose, which was NOT to run our lives, and turn this into a third world communist country!
It’s not just the Democrats, there are a lot of Republicans who have been up there so long, they have forgotten what the real world is like. They ALL must go! Let’s start with Harry Reid, John McCain, Lindsay Graham, Nancy Pelosi, AND John Boehner! I’m not too sure we can afford to keep either Obama or Biden around either! Between these, and a few others, this is the worst so called leadership I have ever seen in my lifetime. Previous administrations have gone whole hog on stomping on the Constitution….Wilson and Roosevelt come to mind, but this one? Oh, it surely takes the cake!
5 Ways the Immigration Bill Is Like Obamacare
Amy Payne – The Foundry
Congress rammed Obamacare through without many Members even reading the bill. Now it’s applying that same frantic, complex, pie-in-the-sky legislating to immigration. The similarities are frightening.
1. Extreme Costs
The Government Accountability Office now projects that under the most realistic scenario, Obamacare will add $6.2 trillion to the primary deficit over the next 75 years. That’s a staggering figure, especially considering the fact that President Obama pledged in 2009, “I will not sign a plan that adds one dime to our deficits—either now or in the future.”
The Gang of Eight’s immigration plan granting amnesty to those unlawfully in the U.S. will cost already burdened American taxpayers more than they can bear. When he last crunched the numbers during the 2007 amnesty debate, Heritage’s Robert Rector calculated that a general amnesty would cost some $2.5 trillion—after considering what legalized immigrants would likely pay in taxes and receive in government benefits and services. His updated research on the latest proposal, due out soon, is likely to find a higher price tag in 2013.
I expect this kind of nonsense from John McCain, Lindsay Graham, Chuckie Schumer, and the typical roll call of Dems. To say I am more than disappointed in Marco Rubio and Jeff Flake, ESPECIALLY Rubio, would be like me saying “I don’t like fish.” I really DON’T like fish, and anyone who knows me, knows I definitely do not like fish! (no, one has nothing to do with the other…just a statement of fact)
We, the Constitution supporters, put a lot of faith in Rubio. Many worked long hard hours to get him into the Senate. People around the country sent money they could ill afford to help in the effort. This is how the people are repaid? With more garbage? More taxes? Amnesty???? To reward criminals? How is this a positive move for ANYONE other than the criminals themselves, and the politicians?
We have laws on the books. You commit a crime, you pay the penalty. It’s not that complicated. Yet, these 8 weasels are throwing out those laws, putting more of a burden on the people who came to the country legally, in whichever century, and giving a free pass to those who believe themselves above the law. We have a border. There’s a reason why man created fences. Good fences make good neighbors. Our fences are broken, and our neighbors aren’t ‘good’. They’ve trashed our yards, killed our ‘family members’, and cost billions in tax dollars.
We were promised a fence. Then, we were promised a ‘virtual fence’. We spent an extremely large amount of money. They tell us “It didn’t work”. The solution is simple. Build a physical fence, a very tall, sturdy fence, with razor wire, electrify the fence, and if necessary, put gun turrets every 20 yards along that fence. If that doesn’t work, there are always land mines, moats filled with alligators, piranhas, or some similar nasty creatures. If the tribes along the border have a problem, two words….imminent domain. After all, Congress has used that for reasons OTHER than what it was created, why not use it for the purpose it was intended? And if the EPA has a problem, you tell ‘em to live down there, and deal with the criminals hauling drugs across our borders to poison our children. I can guaran-damn-tee, they’ll change their tune quicker than you can say jackalope!!
It’s a well know fact that government doesn’t “fix” anything. They create more problems with their “fixes”. They are worse than a child with a screw driver in a room full of expensive electronics!
Do they truly want to solve a very serious problem? If so, they can scrap that 844 page piece of crap, bring out one very clean sheet of paper, and start writing:
1. Build big fence.
2. Hire more border guards (uniforms Made in U.S.A., not Mexico).
3. Arm said guards to the teeth, with live ammo, not rubber bullets, or freakin’ bean bags.
4. “Shoot to kill” orders, if said criminals don’t turn their sorry asses around and go home.
5. All student and non immigrant visa recipients will wear tracking devices. If such person, or persons, overstay their visa, said device will emit an ear piercing screech, notifying all those around them, they are now illegal. If device is not removed within a certain period of time, while wearer is boarding a plane, etc., device will then explode, leaving the wearer quite maimed. Very few muslims will be allowed to enter the country, and those who get the privilege, will wear two.
6. No immigrant will receive any compensation from the American people. They will work, or go home.
7. No muslim, from ANY country, will be given ‘preferred status’. Saudis status to be revoked. Israelis will now be given such status.
8. Profiling will now be implemented. Grandmothers and small children will no longer be groped and humiliated.
9. All mosques and muslim schools will be closed, plowed under, and the earth salted.
10. The official language of the United States of America is English. No signs, ballots, official documents, etc., will be printed in any language but English. Learn the language, or go home.
There! I’ve gotten them started. See how easy that was? No pork projects added!
Top 5 Problems with the “Comprehensive” Immigration Bill
James Carafano – The Foundry
The good news is Congress cares about trying to fix our flawed immigration system and broken borders.
The bad news is they want to do it with a solution that looks a lot like Obamacare—the “Gang of Eight” 844-page-plus “comprehensive” bill.
The sad news is that such an “easy button” solution will not improve our immigration system.
History shows that big bills designed to solve everything wind up creating as many problems as they address. They become loaded with payoffs for special interests and often introduce measures that work at cross purposes.
The “comprehensive” bill fails at the start. Here are the top five reasons it cannot be fixed.
Here we go again. On April 10, thousands of illegal immigrants and their lobbyists will gather on the National Mall to support an immigration reform bill that the Senate is expected to introduce this month.
Every time Congress debates immigration, large crowds gather in various major cities nationwide. Through their sheer numbers, they hope to persuade legislators that they deserve to live legally in the United States.
Well, there ya go! All gathered together, so no need to send out anyone to round ‘em up! They’ll be right there, ready to load on the buses, and either sent to jail, to await their home countries to buy their plane ticket home, or taken back to the border.
NO! You do NOT deserve legal status. You broke into our country, ILLEGALLY, and expect people to pat you on the head? YOU are a FREAKIN’ CRIMINAL! PERIOD! If you break into my house, I shoot you. Why should you expect any better treatment when you break into OUR home, aka nation? You’re damn lucky I don’t live on the border. There might be a lot of coyote bait laying around.
How DARE YOU!!! You committed a crime! And expect to be rewarded? As with ALL criminals, you should get your JUST reward, and PAY for your crime! You ARE a criminal! We do NOT owe you DICK!!
